[SOLVED] Amarok won't build a collection

Hey all -
Just got Amarok installed, but I can't get it to scan my drive for a collection.
I've told it where to scan for it under preferences (and yes, it's scanning recursively), and it remembers that okay, but then when it goes to actually scan the location it chills for a couple seconds at 0%, and then just gives up.
I'm using the default SQLite database.
Anyone have any ideas?
[SOLVED]
Okay... well, after talking with other people using Arch, trying to get help in #archlinux and #amarok, and having no success, I just restarted my computer and it worked.

Thank you! Finally it works. Yet I am wondering why this package is not a dependency for amakor? Sure amarok can work without it, but... it will be most unusual usage.  It could be optional dependency at least.

  • [SOLVED] Amarok won't add local collections

    Hello!
    I've just updated amarok to 2.7 and existing local collection disappeared. Now I go Settings -> Configure Amarok  -> Local collection and check a directory. Pressing 'Full rescan' or 'Apply' does nothing. Changes won't save (no directories are checked if open dialogue again).
    On #amarok channel I got advise to install mariadb. Strange, but it appears to be in amarok package dependencies, but no warnings appeared during upgrade. After the upgrade mysql package was installed and mariadb was not. I manually installed maridb (it replaced mysql), but amarok still wont work.
    Any suggestions?

  • [Solved] Amarok won't play music

    First off I think I've finally found the Linux distro I'm happy with (and I've tried many of them). EXCELLENT distro.
    But back to the reason for this post; I recently installed Arch with KDE4 (vanilla) and everything works no problem except for Amarok. Amarok opens and runs completely fine except for the fact that it won't actually play any music. The sound on any other program works perfectly so its not a general sound issue. The same mp3 files that won't play in Amarok WILL play in VLC so I'm guessing it's not a codec problem either.
    I've searched for an answer around the internet and this forum and nothing helped. I tried messing around with the devices and backends (xine and Gstreamer) and nothing. Also of note is when i click "Test" in the Amarok sound configuration to test the hardware it works.
    So I click on a song in Amarok to play and it just won't. Any ideas?

    Upgraded to Amarok testing version (2.2.1.90) and switched the backend to xine (I guess Gstreamer was buggy with Amarok) and it now works.
    Thanks for the help!
    Yes it will. You only need to add testing and community-testing and when you'll update it will update amarok to. Or if you don't want to use testing daily just do
    pacman -Sy amarok
    And disable testing after it.
    It should work.
    PS.: oh didn't see your post there

  • [Solved] Amarok v2.8 doesn't start

    Hi,
    With the last Amarok update (v2.8), i am getting a notification at startup :
    Amarok could not find any collection plugins. It is possible that Amarok is installed under the wrong prefix, please fix your installation using:
    $ cd /path/to/amarok/source-code/
    $ su -c "make uninstall"
    $ cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` && su -c "make install"
    $ kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental
    $ amarok

    @karol,
    Yeah, removing ~/.kde solves most of the problems but you lose the customization you have done, so it's the last choice.
    For most of us, removing config folders/files is the first thing which comes to mind. But i only removed "~/.kde4/share/apps/amarok" first, then i realized that there is some more folders related to Amarok at "~/.kde4/share/config/".
    A quick search at home dir is useful on removing config files.

  • Building Site Collections in SharePoint Online

    Hello all,
    Please forgive me for this very basic question, but I was not able to find the info online.
    Background info: I have a great deal of experience with SharePoint administration on-prem but not much experience with SharePoint Online. My current organization has O365 and wants to build a collaboration environment and an Intranet. I understand the information
    architecture practices that would have been common for this for an on-prem environment, and I understand that those have changed with 2013 and SharePoint Online due to the new practice of organizing everything under one web app.
    Between reading some articles and using my experience with on-prem, I am trying to design an organized information architecture that will facilitate both environments and the permissions structures they require. My tentative plan was to build one site collection
    for the Intranet under https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/sites (under which subsites would be built for various Intranet divisions), and then a number of individual site collections for the collaboration environment under https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/teams
    (/hr, /finance, etc., so that content owners and users could work in their own site collection without affecting a site collection belonging to someone else).
    This is the article that initially caused me to believe that this is possible/a good idea: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/richard_dizeregas_blog/archive/2014/09/01/sharepoint-online-information-architecture-considerations.aspx.
    "For [managed paths] you get the root, /search (explicit managed path), /sites (wildcard managed path), and /teams (wildcard managed path)."
    However this article leads me to believe that I will not be allowed to create any site collections at all, only subsites: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Plan-sites-and-manage-users-8e568d8d-3d65-42c4-99fa-f7285c9db842.
    "You cannot create additional site collections in SharePoint Online for Office 365 for Small Business."
    I understand the answer to this may depend on what version of O365 we have, and I am working to find that out.
    My understanding is that I cannot be made a SharePoint Online administrator without being a global O365 administrator: http://blogs.technet.com/b/lystavlen/archive/2012/06/14/understanding-the-administrator-role-in-sharepoint-online.aspx.
    "You cannot separate the roles of Office 365 global administrator and SharePoint Online Administrator."
    Thus, I don't currently have the level of access I need to browse around the administration area and find the answers to my questions that way. When the time comes, I will likely be given temporary access or will be working with an O365 global administrator
    to build.
    Main question: Will I be allowed to build site collections under managed paths?
    Larger question: How are others managing the information architecture for an Intranet and a Collaboration environment in SharePoint Online, especially if the answer to the prior question is no?
    Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer.
    Shae

    Hi,
    According to the error message, the Microsoft.Online.SharePoint.Client.Tenant.dll seems not been loaded.
    You can find it in the path below:
    C:\Program Files\SharePoint Client Components\Assemblies
    A code snippet about how to retrieve a list of site collections in a tenant for your reference:
    const string username = "[email protected]";
    const string password = "password";
    const string tenantAdminUrl = "https://yourdomain-admin.sharepoint.com/";
    var securedPassword = new SecureString();
    foreach (var c in password.ToCharArray()) securedPassword.AppendChar(c);
    var credentials = new SharePointOnlineCredentials(username, securedPassword);
    using (var context = new ClientContext(tenantAdminUrl))
    context.Credentials = credentials;
    var tenant = new Tenant(context);
    SPOSitePropertiesEnumerable spp = tenant.GetSiteProperties(0, true);
    context.Load(spp);
    context.ExecuteQuery();
    foreach (SiteProperties sp in spp)
    Console.WriteLine(sp.Title);

    I managed to get Hamachi installed. Go me. But I like having a frontend for things like that, so I tried to build Haguichi from the AUR. Didn't work. I downloaded the source tarball, and running ./configure returned the same error as yaourt.

    I had the same problem today after an update.
    I I start "amrok --debug" I got :
    QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
    unnamed app(1122): KUniqueApplication: Cannot find the D-Bus session server:  "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
    unnamed app(1121): KUniqueApplication: Pipe closed unexpectedly.
    Any new suggestion ?
    Solution:
    1) Remove AMAROK
    2) Delete all reference in /home/user/.kde4 of amarok
    3) Reinstall AMAROK
    Now works!

  • Unable to build search collections using PSOLmanager

    I installed PeopleBooks on HP-UX Itanium. During installation I selected the option to generate search collections for the entire site. But still PeopleBooks search functionality is not working. When I try to search it gives me error "Page Cannot be displayed" error "HTTP 500 - Internal server error." I thought search collections were not built properly so I tried to build search collections again but when I am trying to build collections again using PSOLmanager I am receiving a message "This function is not available."
    I am using

    Webserver = WebSphere 6.1
    Can someone please help me? I am stuck at this.

    Hi,
    Try running the psolmanager from the server and using localhost instead the server name or IP address. It worked for me.

    Hope it helps,

  • Program won't build if a broken vi is included in a diagram disable structure

    I develop code that can run on both PXI and Compact RIO devices.
    To allow for the different DAq methods I have a target specific child object that I tried putting in a conditional disable diagram.
    I found that even if it was disable, the build would still fail.
    When you build rio code on a pxi target, you et problems But I didn't expect them if the class was diagram disabled
    In fact it won't build if it is in the project at all.

    You must edit /usr/include/QtCore/qtconcurrentreducekernel.h and add
    #include <QtCore/qthreadpool.h>
    along with the other "#include" lines at the beginning of the file.
    You will also need patches for the current libgpod version. Grab the updated PKGBUILD and sources here : http://jm.ambrosino.free.fr/archlinux/_ … s/amarok2/
    Or the i686 binary : http://jm.ambrosino.free.fr/archlinux/i … pkg.tar.gz

  • [SOLVED] non-sequencer is orphaned and won't build

    Hi All,
    I'm very interested in non-sequencer but I see that it's been orphaned and I don't know enough about pkgbuilds to fix it. Does anyone know why it's been orphaned? Does it suck? It looks pretty cool from the descriptions but I have no experience with it.
    Perhaps it's been orphaned because there are better options. Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    This works, though namcap gives a couple warnings about icons.  This may need another dependency and an .install file:

  • [half-solved] Firefox won't open GtkFileChooserDialog

    Hey,
    i have a rather strange problem: In Firefox i can't open the "Save File" dialogue. Whether it's in Preferences -> General -> Browse (to change the Download directory) or just rightclicking any link and trying to save it - no dice. The download folder is set to Desktop (can't change it) and even though that directory exists and when set to save files automatically, Firefox will not save/download files.
    Effectively, i can't download.
    GtkFileChooserDialog shows up fine in any other application, including Chromium.
    I can't tell you much about how this happened. I set up the system about a week ago and i have an almost 1:1 identical installation on my laptop where i don't have this issue:
    Identical .mozilla folder, theme and gtk configuration, mime configuration, file browser, almost all the same packages, really.
    The only differences might be some files in $HOME (though not .mozilla), i've had that partition for years. Though, again, most important config files are shared between the laptop and the PC and i have already deleted the .cache and any firefox related files as well as started firefox in safe-mode. FFS. The PC also uses ATI Catalyst drivers but i doubt that's related.
    WM is Awesome 3.4.
    Any idea what's going on?
    Cheers
    P.S.:
    I've found out that setting "browser.folder.downloadList" (in about:config) to 2 (integer) fixes this problem. But it's very shaky, when i try to change the directory in the Preferences it will revert back to "browser.folder.downloadList 0" and the problem reoccurs. So, i won't mark this solved just yet but this a workaround for now. Still don't know why or what exactly is happening.

    Try using Mozilla's Firefox build and see if it still happens.
    Also try switching to the open-source ATI drivers instead of Catalyst. Despite your doubt it *may* be the issue.

    Does anyone know how I can fix this?   I suppose waiting for Amarok 2 to arrive in the main repos is the best solution, but I don't know when that will happen.

    The "mtpcollection" in the error line and this earlier note in the program:

    Give me the impression that it may be because of an outdated libmtp. Try pacman -Rd libmtp and install libmtp-devel from AUR, perhaps?
    I didn't see that bit, actually.   If I had maybe I would have thought of the solution myself.
    But thanks guys, it worked. ^_^
