"Solved" and "Helpful" options
I've been posting on here for a while now, mostly offering help to others, rather than asking questions.
Mostly I can work through issues myself.
Recently I helped a poster and actually solved a problem, by their own admission. However they didn't tick the options "Solved" or "Helpful" so I prompted them to do so.
My request for them to do so was removed by moderators.
I do not feel this is constructive and more effort should be put in by the moerator to make the forum work correctly and to give people like myslef more incentive to carry on helping people where possible.
Obviously it's always nice to be able to solve an issue somebody is having, that's actually the business I'm in, but I think it's unreasonable to see that people aren't using the points system and then not allowing that fact to be brought to their attention.
I help...they say I've helped...my profile increases...everyone is happy.

IMHO, this iteration of the AD Boards (last 4-5 years or so, since Jive), has been evolving ever since it was established.
The Hosts rarely respond directly to concerns, but they do pay attention.
There have been lots of improvements made that came from the posters here.
I believe that the "new" version of the AD Boards will more effectively encourage posters to remember to become more active in awarding ratings. Have you read this post by Eric W, at the top of the Feedback Forum Start Page? http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2540747

I have an iPhone 4S running software 5.1 (9B179) and cannot sync the photos in PhotoStream with iPhoto '11 v 9.2.1 (628). There's no option to update iPhoto and no option of PhotoStream (which is enabled on my phone). Can anyone help?

The "link related" and "text related" crashes were what I interpretted here, too, though I'm at a loss on how to proceed given that this is a fresh system and applications. This is happening with multiple InDesign projects in a design office environment where many others work on the same files and none of the other computers are having problems with these files. I've removed the same files listed (thank you for those) before and did so effectively with creating the new user account to test with, but it had no effect. I just tried again though, as these files could easily have becone corrupt again if they were being written to when InDesign crashed. Will let you know if that makes any difference. I've also gone through and completely cleaned out the fonts again and once more cleared the font caches. If need be I'll reboot this system into safe mode and try that way.

Are you saying you've lost the "Basic" tool tab?
If yes, just right-click on one of the other tabs and select "Basic" from the context menu that's presented. -
HELP! - Finding Specific Emails and Color options??
Hi..
Is there a way to group emails from a specific soure or with a specific heading etc (eudora does this for example by highlighting one and hitting option/command together-which then groups all emails in your box with the same source, title etc.)..and pull then all together in your in boxes..?
also is it possible to change the background color ( like Eudora) in Mail to something other than white? if so , how??...
and are their any other (other than fonts) way to improve the "look" of Mail?

1. Only a POP account can be set to delete from Server after a specified period has elapsed, if you have that option you have not set an Imap account.
2. Your mail is almost certainly lost unless you had a backup.

I just tried deleteing every smart mailbox and re-constituting a few. This went OK until I made one that had to reference a Gmail IMAP 'folder' and as soon I did that ... BAM! ... the infinite spinner appears.

i'm trying to add an email account and followed on screen directions but after "verifying account" screen i got "new account" and no options highlighted but "cancel" The mail server is our local phone company. Appreciate any help.

I need to clear old iPhone, I went to the reset option in setting. It it's asking for a password... I don't recall setting a password up and help for this? Thanks
Are you sure it doesn't have iOS 7 installed? It sounds like Activation Lock is on and if that is the case, when you do Settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content & Settings, you need to enter the password for the Apple ID.
