Allan wrote:Looks like you need a python module called JapaneseModel. Sounds like a missing dependency, so you should open a bug report.
Shouldn't that dependency be managed with pacman? So probably the person who made the package forgot to include this one, could it be?
If you happen to know if that dependency is in the repositories, would you please tell me where, I can't find it.
When I have the time I'll file the report, probably on Wednesday.
Thank you

Remote Control doesn't launch Media Center on Pavilion dv9535nr
Hi, is not big deal, but it's kinda annoying, the remote control (image) doesn't launch Windows Media Center with the top right button (green with Windows logo), I don't know exactly when, but it stopped launching Windows Media Center, and my OS (Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bits) includes Windows Media Center (just in case, version 6.0.6001.18254). I can still launch it manually (shortcuts, etc).
I'd rather use Windows Media Center instead of QuickPlay, because of the Xbox 360 connectivity.
So, please, can somebody tell me how can I solve this problem ??
Thanks
PS. Please forgive my bad English, it's my second language.
Message Edited by LuissRicardo on 09-12-2009 10:56 PMSo when you hit "Play" it will start playing off your playlist, but no media player ever opens? All I can think is if you are using some super small skin and just not noticing it off in a corner or something, or if you used to have multiple monitors and drug it onto the secondary and now only use one...
The only solution I found to make the hardware work right I don't think I'm supposed to post, because it includes "don't use any software coded by CL" lol. Also I don't think this would be the right solution for you, as it sounds like the remote is working fine with MediaSource for the most part (or I am horribly misunderstanding). -
Spotlight doesn't launch on login
I'm having trouble with Spotlight, it doesn't launch when I log in. I can open it manually, so to speak, but I can't get it to launch automatically.
As suggested by V.K., I've tried these commands, but it didn't solve the problem:
sudo mdutil -i off /
sudo mdutil -E /
sudo mdutil -i on /
Any ideas? You could try the old standby "repair permissions" if something is wrong here that effects launchd (which keeps spotlight and many other things running) this could fix it. A test would be to use activity monitor to kill the "Spotlight" process (after you manually start it) and see if it restarts on its own within a few seconds. If not, launchd is not doing it's job which actually seems certain already.
It seems drastic, but if this fails, I would recommend doing an re-install of the OS with the archive and install method. I say this because clearly something is not right in the OS startup procedure (specifically launchd). If this is true, other things not as noticeable could be wrong as well.
This works better than it did with older systems and should successfully move all parts of most installed apps, all your data etc to the new system. Apps that install kernel extensions in /System (parallels, cisco VPN client, others) would need a re-install. unix command line apps are ignored too.
once you verify everything is is and running and your data is all there, etc, you can safely remove the "Previous Systems" folder this process will create. -
Finder doesn't launch properly
My finder doesn't launch properly and does not respond each time I start up my mac. I can't seem to click on anything. I'm still able to open applications like iTunes but my computer will just keep bonging after i've done so. The problem will resolve after I relaunch my finder. Although this may seem like a small matter, the problem keeps coming back as and when I'm using the computer. This started only after updating the system to 10.5.8, when my screen only showed a grey screen post-installaion. I had to off the mac maunally by holding on the power button. I've updated the system to 10.6, but that wouldn't solve the problem.
Utility check is fine.
Will someone please help me? This is the first mac that i have, and i've just converted from windows, having given up hope on it.I'm leaning towards backing up your data, erase the disk, and reinstall SL. There appears to be a system-wide problem that has hung around from your previous system. Trying to hunt down the problem will likely take longer than doing the erase and install and re-importing your data.

Itunes doesn't launch automatically, could you help me?
Hello, when I connect Iphone or Ipad, I tunes doesn't launch automatically even if the option in Itunes is selected. My OS is windows xp.
Bye
FabioI’ve found another solution for those where this doesn’t resolve it.
From user Crosbie at MacForums.com
You can extract iTunes Helper from the iTunes package, if you like, to replace the absent one.
It can be found by right-clicking the iTunes app and choosing 'Show Package Contents'; then navigate down to the 'MacOS' folder. You can then drag it to your open 'login items' window.

This solved the issue for me, where unchecking and re-checking didn’t. -
Problems with iTunes Launching
I am having problems with iTunes launching on my G4 Mac Mini. Everytime I tried to launch it the application just carries on bouncing up and down on the dock, but never launches. I dumped the preferences folder then tried to relaunch it but that didnt solve anything. Then I tried uninstalling the whole application. I searched for any files associated with iTunes and trashed them. Then reinstalled iTunes 7 (previously had iTunes 6 on), thinking this would solve the problem but it didnt. Has anyone got any suggestions for me? My only other option is to reformat the whole machine just to get iTunes working again. Obvioulsy I didnt right away wanna go this route. I'm sure there is something I am just missing
Thanks in advance.Hello Laura&Graeme, Welcome to Discussions.
First off great job with what you have done. I have some suggestions below. One which you have done but want to ensure you know the full list of apple programs that may actually be in your system. So you can remove them all. Below is the first link to assist you as well as a text list of those Apps.

Lightroom 5.5 CC doesn't launch after Update
Hello,
I used Creative Cloud to download all the new 2014 updates of which LR 5 was an update. All the downloads and installs reported being successful. I opened PS CC 2014 and it launch and loaded just fine. However, LR 5 launches the flash screen for about 2 secs, but doesn't launch. I've try to go to Creative Cloud to download and reinstall, but it has LR 5 as installed and won't let me re-download and install. I also tried going to the new creative cloud adobe site and tried downloading it there, but is comes up with a message that the link requires a launch program ... have no idea what the program is. Totally baffled with this new Cloud set up! Your help is greatly appreciated.
DennisI have the same issue. I don't even get a 2-second flash. My question might be slightly different though. I have the Creative Cloud with Photoshop CC and I owned the 5.4 version of Lightroom. I was surprised to see the Lightroom update available in Creative Cloud. While the Photoshop kept my old CC it removed my old Lightroom and installed the new version. I believe there is a problem with the Lightroom.exe file. So I removed the program, rebooted and re-installed. Same thing.
Could this be because my Creative Cloud subscription has not been updated to include Lightroom?
And yes it is a critical flaw.

A form designed in LiveCycle Designer with a Submit By Email button, doesn't launch Outlook 2010 (Standard Edition) when clicked, although Outlook is properly configured as Default Mail Client. Checked with Microsoft and followed all proper steps yet the button doesn't invoke Outlook onClick. However, Outlook is launched if a link or html button, set to the mailto syntax is clicked. Is this a PDF form issue for LiveCycle or is there something I am missing? Please any ideas?
I have this problem on Win7 64bit, but it seems to work fine with XP and Vista. Not sure about Win7 32bit.
I've also seen the problem in the past with programs like Thunderbird set to be the default email client (on XP).
I've never been able to figure out if it's an Adobe or Microsoft problem. Adobe uses the MAPI settings to find the email client. -
Sendto mail recepient doesn't launch default mailto program (outlook2013)
Hi,I have a new laptop with a fresh windows 8.1 on it. I have installed office 2013 with outlook 2013. In explorer right clicking file and clicking send to 'mail recipient' doesn't launch anything.
The default program for mailto is set to "outlook(dektop)". I have uninstalled the metro mail app, just to be sure but no fix either. I have a feeling that the mailrecipient link in the sendto folder contains the command 'mail' and not the
command 'mailto'. When i make a shortcut for example with a mailto command in it on my desktop, it works.
Any suggestions would greatly appreciated since i am alraidy working on this issue for days on end.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
As Windows 8.1 just fresh installed, also Windows 2013. Generally speaking, it should not Windows itself problem.
Firstly, you can try to set Default Program for Outlook for test.
Control Panel\Programs\Default Programs\Set Default Programs
Please also make sure Set Program Access and Computer Defaults is Outlook.
If no use, you can try to reinstall Office 2013 for test to fix this problem.
In addition, there is no conflict between Office 2013 with Mail APP. Your problem should be not caused by Mail app.

Hi, i just installed my brand new Photoshop Elements 10 but the Organizer just doesn't launch! With the Editor i have no problem.
Bypass the Unwelcome Screen by creating Desktop shortcuts for the Organizer and the Editor, and restarting your computer.
The Editor's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe"
The Organizer's executable is:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 10 Organizer\PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe"
The Unwelcome Screen leaves a zombie process running which prevents the actual program from launching again.

Batch monitor doesn't launch and doesn't exist at all :(
Hi,
I desperately need your help.
My problems started a couple of months ago when a less than 2-hour project in Final Cut was converted by compressor into a 6-gig file.
Following basic troubleshooting steps described in FAQ, I deleted user preferences and the program went back to normal.
Yesterday my 1 hour and 30 minutes project was converted into 5 gig file. My troubles started all over again. This time I also tried to delete user preferences but now it DIN"T WORK.
I decided to remove and reinstall compressor and Qmaster following by the steps described at
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1888?viewlocale=en_US
All went well, BUT now when I export my project using compressor, batch monitor doesn't launch! And when I look into Applications->Utilities I don't SEE THE BATCH MONITOR program at all!
Maybe I have not installed the entire thing necessary for normal performance of the compressor application? (when I reinstalled compressor, I checked Compressor and Qmaster boxes only, and unchecked final cut pro, DVD studio pro and the rest of the applications I did not need to reinstall)
Please advise.
Regards,
Tatiana
P.S. I'm using FCP 5.0 not the newest FCP studio 2.0Thank you for your reply!
Still trying to figure out what's going on.
I checked the option it IS on. Thank you for your suggestion, though.
Regarding Batch Monitor as a separate program, yes I know that I should look for it in the UTILITIES folder. But it is NOT THERE! How can it be possible if I reinstalled Compressor AND Apple Qmaster?
Any thoughts?
Maybe I did or did not delete some file(s) before the reinstallation? What should have I done before plugging in the installation dvd with the Final Cut Pro 5.0? I followed all steps described in the basic troubleshooting section on the Apple web site. Ironically, I got into even more trouble
I appreciate your help.

Quicktime X doesn't launch?
I know people are having lots of problems with Quicktime X, but I'm having an even more basic one -- the software doesn't launch at all. It bounces on the dock, but then nothing happens. ??
I'm having the same problem. I've tried reloading it from the Snow Leopard installation disc using Pacifist but that had no effect and the icon doesn't even bounce now!
If you are referring to the embedded dual 32-/64-bit structure imbedded in the OS, then I don't recommend using Pascifist and would prefer to perform a clean install here. If just the QT X Player application, then you may not have done much, if any, damage to your OS.
Inability to open an application may be due to either a bad installation of the application, a bad PLIST file, or a corrupted or improperly terminated movie file. By setting up an alternative user account, you may be able to determine where the problem lies. If you can open the bare application as a different user, then it is most likely the the PLIST file is corrupted. If the bare application will not open, then it is more likely to be a bad installation. If the bare application opens in both user account but a particular movie file will not open while others do, then the problem is most likely either in the file itself or the components that support that movie.
