SOLVED: Annoying icon of num/scroll/caps lock still on screen

Hello everybody!
I can't get rid of the Lenovo icon of num/scroll/caps lock whic appears when you press one of these keys. The problem shows up when I join to my other bigger monitor so the screen resolution gets bigger and the icon gets stucked in the bottom-right corner where was originally the end of previous smaller resolution (as you can see here on the screenshot):
I'm desperate because I've already tried most of the tips which I could find on google. Like modifying the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Widcomm\BTConfig\General\KeyIndication, disabling BTTray.exe etc.
I have Lenovo Ideapad B560. I would rly appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!
Edit: Problem solved. It wasn't any Lenovo utility but Genius Keyboard. So I have just unistalled the ioCenter software and icon finally disappeared.

Make sure you've got the latest HP system BIOS installed.

HP Pavilion DV3 ( Scroll & Caps Lock LED's blinking four times + Blank Screen )

Hi,
I have an HP Pavilion DV3-2157cl
When I press the power button, the screen remains blank. Also, the scroll & the Caps Lock buttons keep blinking four times.
Sometimes, the laptop works like nothing's wrong but Most of the time, it remains blank with the blinking lights!
Can anyone help me?

i had a problem with my dv3 (blank screen keeps flashing) and used this method to reflow the graphics card/chip (see link below). only try this method if you are at your wits end... and you are skilled with taking apart/putting together electronics. it will take you a minimum of 1 hour (but most likely, about 2). you will need a heat gun (about $10 - $20).

to prevent it from continually over heating, you can try the penny mod (google it). that's what i did. you basically take a penny and sand off both sides until it is the right thickness and solder it onto the heatsink. you'll need to remove the sticky blue foam that HP used instead.
i also noticed that a laptop cooler placed under your laptop works well for keeping it cool. it can be fixed again and again using the method above but it is time consuming. to prevent getting a cold connection which leads to this problem, don't move the laptop. yes, it sucks that you can't move it but that's the only option you have.

[Solved] Strange Problem swapping Esc and Caps lock in X

i use xmodmap to swap esc and caps lock. my .xmodmaprc:
remove Lock = Caps_Lock
keycode 9 = Caps_Lock
keycode 66 = Escape dead_diaeresis
add Lock = Caps_Lock
As login manager i use slim and everthing works as expected as long as i don't activate slim's autologin option. In this case pressing caps lock executes caps lock and esc. The same happens if i start X from the console via startx. I have no clue why this happens. Anyone got an idea whats the problem?
More, maybe relevant info: i use dwm as window manager and xmodmap is executed in .xinitrc.

I find that many of these types of common key switches are supported by xorg.conf.d configurations. For example, I use my caps lock as a secondary "windows key" since that is the mod key for my i3 setup. So I have this in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf

I found the option you need. It is in /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/base.lst, and it is "caps:swapescape". In my mind, this is the more "correct" way of doing it, as it is done during the initalization of X rather than as an after thought.

Hp Probook 4510s caps lock blinking no screen display

I rebooted my laptop and all the lights come on but network light ends to turn orange and caps lock blinking.

Well, my RAM will arrive tomorrow, we'll see if it works or not. Surprisingly, the laptop charges like it should, everything is fine except the 3 blinks.
I hope the new RAM will solve the problem.

The caps lock symbol that appears on the sceen when you turn on/off the caps lock key is cute, but it has a tendancy to hang around all the time, even when the caps lock is turned off. Is there a way of turning this feature off?

There's an option for that.
Right click the desktop > Screen Resolution > Advanced Settings > On-Screen Display tab.
I think the default may have been changed somewhere along the way, so a hotkey package update might also do the trick.

Remap Caps Lock as gnu screen escape key

anyone know how to do this?
currently ive got Caps Lock remapped to some keycode in /usr/share/X11/XKeysymDB
i want to use it as the escape key for screen.
adding it to .screenrc doesnt work.
i was thinking that a macro or something that can just send C-a to screen when i push caps lock might work...?
anyone have any thoughts?

Look into loadkeys from the kbd package. I use it to exchange Escape/Caps_Lock outside of X.

Scroll & Caps Lock blinking - DV4-1120 does not boot. :-(

My dv4-1120US had stopped working - I had opened it up (following the instructions in the manual) and put it back together after cleaning the inside (fan, etc.) with compressed air. After I put it back together and turned it on, the main LEDs came on - the fan turned on for a few secs - and nothing happens beyond that, although the scroll and cap light blinks - it blinks once every sec s three times, and then pauses for three secs and then repeats ....
I removed the power, removedthe batteries, reset the machine, and even removed the cmos battery and reinstalled it, and reseated the RAM - but to no avail.
Any ideas?
Why did I open my computer?:- My dv4-1120 US has been running hot / warm with a loud fan noise for a few mos, but recently it started turning itself off intermittently (no pattern). I wanted to clean the insides in case there was dust that was causing this issue. That's the reason why I opened the computer.
Appreciate your insight.

Good news for the person with the 3 blinks... it is the memory and if you have working RAM (and compatible!) you should be able to get it work... Bad news for me... mine does not stop blinking and they do not have LED error code description for me. Which tells me I'm completly screwed if the LED error code does not function correctly...

Mac Caps Lock Light - Twice?

I had the annoying problem with the Mac caps lock not working intermittently. I read the threads on how to sort, it normally helped if I just took the batteries out. I got used to do doing this. However, I just bought another one after the previous one was completely destroyed and it's doing the same thing. It's a more recent model as some of the icons on the key have changed.
Is there any response from Apple about this - it's very frustrating...

Try resetting the SMC to see if that helps, do it at least 2x.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

I just installed RAM into my 2007 Mid iMac. I went to turn it on and the fan goes on and such. The screen isn't lighting up and (Caps lock) the keyboard isn't working. It's plugged in too.

Installed two 2GB RAM cards to my Mac. Plugged it in, turned it on. You can hear it running. My keyboard isn't lighting up (Caps Lock) and the screen is black.

Assuming the RAM is to the exact spec required, try re-seating the RAM. When you think it is fully seated give it an extra shove with both thumbs - it only needs to be a fraction out for it not to work. If that fails to solve the problem, put the old RAM back in and test. If it works that narrows it down to the new RAM being the problem.

Y2P dim screen, caps lock indicator stuck on. Already disabled adaptive brighness... Warranty?

Hi guys. Recently bought my second Y2P, this one second hand.
Reason being my previous one was the 4GB i5 model, this one is the 8GB i7
Now I've noticed a few things when I compare them. Firstly, and most annoyingly, the screen on this one is significantly dimmer than on my previous one. When I put it it max brightness it's only a little brighter than half way on my older one. When I put the brightness all the way down the screen turns off...
I''ve already disabled auto dim in the battery settings, windows setting AND intel graphics control panel so I'm sure it's not down to that. I'm running the updated BIOS on both the systems also. This is unbelievably frustrating.
Another annoying thing is that the CAPS lock indicator light is always on. Apart from when I press a button, it turns off whilst anything is being pressed (on the keyboard). It does this as soon as the machine is switched on.
BIOS setting have been reverted to standard etc and nothing seems to be fixing any of it. I have also done a full reset of the machine on numerous occasions. Nothing.
One last niggle is that I've noticed that the touchpad is ever so slightly sunk in (something that I probably only noticed because I have another yoga to compare it to) and there is some play in the touchpad which I would have noticed this regardless.
Is it time to contact Lenovo warranty team?
Sorry for the long post, and I'd really appreciate any advice!

Just to keep the thread updated in case by any chance someone has similar problems...
I've contacted Lenovo who are saying it's likely a motherboard issue, I'll be getting a letter with details of how to arrange a courier to collect the system within the next few days. I'll let y'all know what comes of it!

T440s: No on screen display of caps lock, volume, screen brightness, etc.

Hello all-
I updated the BIOS to 2.26 a while ago and ever since then there's no on-screen indication of caps lock on/off, screen brightness or volume when I change it. Since it seemed to be affected by BIOS, I updated again to 2.27 just now, but the problem persists. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help.
EDIT: Just fixed my own problem. I needed to update the Hotkeys Feature Integration by downloading the utility thingy from this page. Probably wasn't a BIOS thing after all.

And we glad to hear that the issue has been resolved after installing Hot key feature application.
I also suggest you to update Lenovo power management application, if the OS is Windows 7, please update Lenovo Power Manager application.

Does the Caps lock still work, just not the LED?
Or does the caps lock not work at all? You usually have to hold the caps button for 1-2 seconds.
If the key is indeed faulty, then you should contact Apple, or go to an Apple Retail Store, or Service Provider to have the keyboard replaced
