[Solved] Apache Won't Show Files

I have Apache running on my box and whenever I try to host something other than HTML/JS/PHP documents it either takes forever to show up or just never does. I was trying to host a picture of a pitbull before so I could link it to something and I had to mess around with stuff for about an hour before I could get the picture to show up with a direct link. Now I'm trying to host two other files and Apache just won't show them even though they're in my serving directory. I've restarted the Apache daemon multiple times and that doesn't fix anything. What's going on here?
This is my serving directory, the xbox and pitbull pictures are visible, but the two files I just added (CWM_BLOB_V5 and Stock3.2.rar) don't show up at all. I had symlinks to other directories that worked but I just removed them.

I'm dumb, I still had reminants of my lampp install and I was placing the files in that directory instead of the one I currently use.

I just tried this, no luck...
I connected a different USB cable, still the same problem. Tried both cables with the problematic hard drive on two different computers, still the same problem.
At this point I assume I'll probably need professional help in saving the files, thanks for the assistance.

Indesign CS4 in Mac 10.6.8, sometimes won't show files, sometimes won't show tools. Like I click to open a file from the finder, and Indesign makes that temporary file in the finder, but won't display the pages. At other times I can have the pages displayed but I can't open the tools such as the colour swatches or the paragraphy styles. This all happens at random, although I suspect it is more likely to happen if I have been working in some other program such as Typestyler or Aperture, and come back to Indesign. Kind of like Indesign gets snooty at me working in another program.
I've done the thing of dicing the preferences, but so far the only workaround that has worked so far is quitting and restarting the program. I don't remember this happening so much until recently, in other words the problem seems to be getting more frequent.
But I am wondering if this has happened with anyone else and if there are any other suggestions for avoiding it.
Back in the good old days you would reinstall PageMaker and that would settle things for a while. But now I don't know if a program like Indesign CS4 actually gets corrupted and if it does I don't know what to do. Does the program get corrupted? And should you reinstall a fresh copy? If it's a good idea to reinstall the program how do you do that? Is it possible to download a fresh copy? And if I do, what happens when the fresh copy phones home? I've tangled with the Adobe Microsoft corporation before when Indesign phoned home and got a crossed line.

Other things to try:
Examine your specific version of Optima by going to Type menu > Find Font, clicking on the Optima font and choosing More Info (I think) and find the specific version number. See if you can uninstall the font and reinstall another Optima font with a different, preferably newer version number. There has (historically) been a bad version of Optima floating around for years. Maybe you have it.
Use a free utility like FontNuke or FontFinagler to get your Mac OS to reset its font plists. Sometimes that makes the OS feel better.
Use the built-in Disk Utility to repair file permissions. You never know.
Export your old document out to IDML and reopen that resulting idml file back into a new freshly written INDD file. This might remove internal database corruptions.
All these are chicken-soup things to try and they might be good for you.

[SOLVED] Apache won't start; missing 4 modules

Hello,
Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but httpd won't start after an update.
First it claims each of these 4 modules are missing:
LoadModule authz_default_module modules/mod_authz_default.so
LoadModule authn_default_module modules/mod_authn_default.so
LoadModule disk_cache_module modules/mod_disk_cache.so
LoadModule mem_cache_module modules/mod_mem_cache.so
If I comment these in httpd.conf, the error changes to
httpd: Configuration error: No MPM loaded.
Can anyone please help?

You might want to do that. that is why pacdiff offers the merge option.

My iPod is JACKED! Won't mount, won't show files, etc...

Hi, someone help!
So I have a 3rd generation iPod, about a year and a half old. I had been having no problems with it ever since I first bought it, but now I have a serious one: it shuts itself down when I insert the firewire cable into my 15 Powerbook.
Heres what happened: I tried to update the software about a month ago and somehow erased all the music on the iPod. I say erased because when I scroll through the artists section on the iPod, it shows that I have nothing there, yet when I go to About under Settings it tells me I only have 36MB left on a 20GB iPod. I had almost filled it all the way up before this happened. So are my files there, or no? Well get back to that
This is what happens now: I charge the iPod (separate from the Powerbook), and am able to see the Main Menu. Then, when I plug it in, not only does the computer not recognize it, but the second it gets plugged in, the iPod crashes, tries to restart, but I only see the little magnifying-glass-looking-at-a-CDROMlike its trying to search for its operating system.
What do I do?? I want my files, but I also want a functioning iPod. I refuse ot buy a new one out of mere principle (F Apple for making these things die after a year so they can sell you a new one. Seirously). Id be willing to sacrifice my files if I can just get a new OS installed on this iPod? Any idea how to do that when it wont even start up properly when plugged into the Powerbook?
Most importantly, does this sound like a completely helpess hardware issue?

Oh man, you're gonna love this...
Remember what happened when you plug in the iPod? The CD-ROM with a magnifying glass icon just keeps spinning, right? Well, let it sit for at least one hour, maybe two. You'll see that the little bar underneath the CD-ROM will start filling in slowly.
Once it's done, you will see an icon that looks like this:

That icon means that the iPod hard drive has passed the test that was just run. Click on the menu button to restart your iPod.
Now, the volume should mount on your desktop. It may not register in iTunes, it may not have updated software anymore, but at least it will mount.
Here's the WEIRD PART:
As soon as it mounted, I got the spinning beach ball for like 5 or 7 minutes as iTunes tried to open and register the iPod. Eventually it said something along the lines of "Cannot view the contents of your iPod. Please download the latest software and restore your iPod to factory settings." However, when I was able to view my ITUNES LIBRARY, all the old songs from my iPod (previously invisible) had updated into my library! ***?
Anyway, now, open Disk Utility. Select the iPod volume and click the "Erase" tab. Erase the whole thing. When I did this, Immediately after it is erased, a prompt came up that said "Software Update has detected that new software is available for your iPod. Would you like to install it now," to which I repied YES, PLEASE. I then selected "Restore" on the next prompt, which erased all files on my iPod and restored factory settings.
I now have a working iPOD BABY!! For now...
Good luck to all of you out there who have to go through the painful process of watching an older iPod become utterly obsolete and non-functioning. Apple is porking us. I can only hope this post helped somebody out there.

Finder window in apps won't show files after upgrading to Mavericks

Has anyone encountered a situation where you are working within an application and do a File->Open kind of dialog and when you select a directory the spinner just spins forever and nothing is shown in that directory (when you KNOW there's something there)?
I am having this problem randomly. For instance, I opened Sublime Text 2, went to File->Open, navigated to a directory and nothing showed up. The spinner went round and round as if it was waiting on something. I closed the dialog, tried again, and it worked fine. It's happening regularly, but I can't seem to reproduce it.
Any others experiencing this?

Ok, this isn't an issue that some NON-Apple program isn't calling Finder correctly. This was Apple MAIL for God's sake. I went to attach a document, and then FINDER just wouldn't open any sub folder. Not ONE. The little "circle of wait" was spinning, and I let it for 10 minutes! Nothing ever came up.
THANK GOD for Path Finder, a Finder substitute that runs rings around the native functionality. I was able to easily open it, and drag files to Apple Mail and send the files.
What this tells me is, again, NOBODY at Apple is doing beta testing. I am honestly about to just put my Mac up for sale and go back to Windows ( I NEVER thought I'd say that!)

(SOLVED) SLiM won't show xfce4 in the boot options.

Currently I have this .xinitrc(took it from the wiki):

Why I go through the sessions with F1, awesome shows up, xmonad shows up, gnome shows up and I never get to see xfce. I searched the logs but I couldn't find any evidence to point to the error.

[Solved] Dolphin won't show video thumbnailer without root privileges

Hi, I have this issue that the video thumbnailer thing doesn't work if I dont run dolphin with root settings ('kdesu dolphin').
There is some difference in my settings but I dunno what it is.

You can break your system severely by forcing upgrades. If you didn't already (or didn't read the output when upgrading), you may want to go through /var/log/pacman.log and look to see if there's any information that's you missed about these particular upgrades before you restart your system.

Did you ever figure out how to get them back? The same thing happened to me yesterday. I was able to open the file in VLC media player (you can download this app), but the file had been corrupted. It was only the last clip I had recorded, all the others were lost. Even the clip that will play is messed up

Why won't migrated files show up in search or in "all my files" despite being perfectly accessible?

I have just migrated all my files to a new macbook pro from an old macbook pro and ì have stumbled upon a minor issue: all my files are here, and work perfectly fine, but they won't show up if I do a search in finder or in "all my files" until I modify them (for a microsoft word document anyway). Music that I play will show up in search but not in "all my files" if is not included in the itunes folder in my music, but if it comes from the itunes folder it won't show up in either even if I play it. Is there an easy way to solve this problem? It's not too much of an issue but opening every file or attempting to make it show may be cumbersome.

1. Update iTunes to the latest version. Plug in your iPod. If iTunes still can't recognize it, then in iTunes in the top left corner click help> run diagnostics. On the box that comes up, check the last two things. Click next and it should identify your iPod.
2. Click on your windows start menu. Type in "services". Click on it and when it pops up, on the bottom of it click on "standard". Now Scroll down to find "Apple Mobile Device" Right click it when you see it and click on "Start". When it has started, close iTunes and replug in your iPod and it should show up.
3. Check the USB cable
4 Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
5. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service and verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed.
6. If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job
7. Check for third-party software conflicts.

7d CR2 files won't show in Bridge CS4

I've run updates through Photoshop and Bridge trying to get my 7D photos to show as thumbnails in Bridge. They simply won't show and I can't find a way to make them show. When I try and open a CR2 file, the image opens in ACR 5.7, which i know isn't the latest version, but when I try to run updates again, it tells me there are no updates to install. Help!

You should be running ACR 5.7, not 5.6.
All updates to ACR contain unannounced, unpublished bug fixes and improvements, not just support for new cameras. You should always run the latest version of ACR your version of Photoshop supports.

PHP installed with Apache, php pages showing nothing [SOLVED]

I've followed a couple of guides to install a LAMP stack on my Arch install, and I seem to have done everything correctly (no errors anyway...), but I still can't see anything on my basic phpinfo page.
Viewing source shows nothing.
Is there anything commonly missed out I should be looking for, in order to get it showing properly?
If there's any more specific information I can give, please let me know. I'm new to these forums and realise I'm lacking detail, but any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

GetAppletContext().showDocument() won't show local files for some people

Hi,
I have a reporting function that creates a pdf and stores on the users computer in the local temp drive and then displays the created pdf in a new browser window. Everything works fine except for some users it won't show local files. This is a signed applet and everyone has the same policy file. I can't work out why it works for some users and not for others, there doesn't seem to be a pattern in o/s, configurations etc. When i run the code locally on tomcat it works for me but when i upload to server it doesn't. There is no error message either. The pdf is definitely being created as well as you can check it in the temp directory. Code is below:
