Solved Bluetooth cell phone pairing problem after 10.4.8 update

I am not sure why it works this way,but I tested it a few times and it was consistant.First I updated to version 10.4.8 . The 3 motorola razor phones I have were not able to pair anymore at all.Under 10.4.7 file transfers were no problem and pairing always occured.I use the d-link dbt 120 bluetooth adapter and until now (with 10.4.8) communication was never a problem when the adapter was attached to my belkin hub where it has a docking area for flash drives and mp3 players etc... .
When I now try to use the adapter on the usb hub it doesn't work now at all.I get messages that communication is not possible etc... . When I put the adapter on the one usb port on the front of my powermac g5 then I get very quick pairing ,file transfers etc... . I moved the bluetooth adapter back and fourth between the hub and the front of the computer and the result was always the same. The port on the mac works and others don't anymore.
The other ports on the usb hub worked fine with 10.4.7 but not with 10.4.8. It seems like the hub fell from grace or something with the new update. I felt better when I could get it to work. I wish I would have found this out before I did the archive and install though to go back to 10.4.7 .
I reupgraded to 10.4.8 then found the solution to my problem maybe 10 minutes away from a second archive and install to take me back to 10.4.7.

Hi Ralph,
Thanks for your response! Unfortunately I am enough of a newbie not to understand the implication of what you said Where should I look for these devices, and are they conflicting with iChat somehow? Do you mind telling me what action to take to fix this?
In the meantime I did a 10.4.9 update and airport stopped working completely. I talked to Apple support and they had me do a factory reset on my airport extreme basestation and reconfigure it in order to get to work again, and I have not tried video iChat since that happened.
Thanks!
Seleya

  • Searching problem after 10.5.6 Update

Hello everyone, we are having a problem with searching shares mounted on clients from a server.
Prior to 10.5.6 we could search an entire share as well as folders in the share. After 10.5.6 we can't search the share and we can only search folders in the share.
The server is currently running 10.4.11.
I guess what I'm wondering is... are there people with server 10.5 that are also seeing this problem or would upgrading the server fix this search issue?
    Thanks
    Mike

on the other machines that didn't update to 10.5.6. They are able to search all shares. My 10.5.6 machine can only search localhost and Jukebox ...I ran mdutil on the 10.5.6 machine, here are the results:
    $ mdutil -s /Volumes/*
    Indexing disabled.
    /Volumes/Jukebox:
    Server search enabled.

Same problem here, upgraded to 10.5.6 and cannot search our apple server running tiger. Windows shares on 2003 server works fine. Will an upgrade of our Apple server to Leopard solve this issue? Is there an easy way to "uninstall" 10.5.6 without reinstalling the computer
Since upgrading to 10.5.6 I can't search my network servers

    Hi all...
I recently installed the 10.5.6 OS upgrade and I've encountered a problem. I can no longer search my network attached servers - there is no search activity of any kind when I type in search terms. My local search works fine...I just can't search anything on my network ... windows servers. Is there a compatibilty issue between OS X 10.5.6 and Extreme Z-IP? Any helpful tips
Updated to 10.5.6, no longer able to search through networked shares

One of our users was able to search through our network shares(extreemeZ-ip) just fine yesterday morning, mid morning he updated to 10.5.6 and is no longer able to use finder to perform searches on those shares
Mac OS 10.5.6 clients can no longer search Mac OS 10.4.11 share points

After upgrading our workstations from Mac OS 10.5.5 to 10.5.6, we no longer receive Finder search results from our file server that runs Mac OS X Server v.10.4.11.
Are there any other solutions available other than rolling the workstations back to 10.5.5 or upgrading the file server to 10.5.6

  • 3 Problems after jb 4.3 update

stockmail exchange active sync shows only headers - no mail content
bluetoth connect to my HTC One S didn´t work
screen flickers when using virt. keyboard
since everything worked well with 4.2.2 and there was no help from sony i decided to do a rollback
!* same problems with 10.41.B.0.109 (last working version for me is 10.3.1.C.0.136 aka 4.2.2)

    hi.
I contacted Sony about the Bluetooth / Wireless problem after the 4.3 update, eventually all I got back was that they're aware of the problems (Bluetooth) and are working on it for the next update. How long this will take is anyones guess.
I find it incredible that they rolled out the 4.3 update because it has so many bugs, at least give us an easy way to roll-back to 4.2.2 ...... that actually worked!

  • Solution for MS Bluetooth Mouse 5000 pairing problem

I had a problem with my MS bluetooth mouse 5000 pairing with my MacBook that I thought I should share. When I first bought the mouse, it paired with no problem at all. But after about 2 weeks it disconnected for some unknown reason. Thinking it was a problem with the mouse, I replaced the batteries, and even exchanged it for a new mouse. After going through the Mac bluetooth pairing process and trying out a number of solutions I saw posted on various bluetooth subjects, I could not get it to work - during the pairing process, it came up with various errors indicating that the pairing process failed.
Finally, from another post, I did the following:
    - removed all references to the mouse in the bluetooth list under Open Bluetooth Preferences.
    - I then did a PRAM reset per Apple's suggested procedure (Command-Option-P-R during start up).
Once this completed, I was able to get my mouse to successfully pair with my MacBook.

I had the same problem. The cure is to boot off of the OSX DVD and when it attempts to find a mouse hold down the connect button on the bottom of the mouse. Keep holding it down until OSX recognizes the mouse. It may take a minute or two. After the mouse has been recognized you can exit before the installation requires software to be transferred. Then just select a normal reboot on the exit menu option.

  • How can I use my bluetooth (cell phone earpiece) as a Mic?

I have read in theory it should work? I have a plantronics bluetooth earpiece for my cell phone. How can I set it up as a Mic on the MacMini? in preferences? I want to be able to use it in iMovie.
I was doing a search under Microphones, someone posted : besides isite and imic, one should be able to use a bluetooth set as a Mic.
MacMini core duo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Dell running xp

thanks. Shawk. I figured it out last night when I got home. Works great. Actually like it better than microphone (no wires) and sound is good.

  • [solved - faulty hardware]nvidia - serious problems after last update

I'm trying to fix this for 3 days now...
After last nvidia update i rebooted and my screen looked like this:
    http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/qogzxehj/img_1702.jpg
So I googled a bit, tried to create a new xorg.conf with nvidia-xconfig, tried several things in xorg.conf but nothing worked. A downgrade to previous version failed. I was fed up with it and restored a backup from the week before and.....got also this messed up screen.
I even get some strange stripes/distortion in BIOS splash screen now or when I boot from a live-cd:
    http://img3.imagebanana.com/img/29u0495s/img_1698.jpg
Next day I added a "Mode Section" to xorg.conf and everything seemed to work again - until the screen turned off because of inactivity (no suspend or hibernate), I moved the mouse and everything was f**** up again.
As things are now: I have this strange distortion in my BIOS-bootscreen. When X starts this messed up screen from the screenshot appears. I can switch to a console. If I switch to runlevel 3 and immediately back to runlevel 5 I get an apparently working desktop. But the windows don't redraw, the program windows won't refresh if I move them around. Everything looks strange and so on.
I played around with xorg.conf, loaded some Modules, tried several depths and resolutions, added a modeline, nothing. Reinstalled nvidia in runlevel 3, tried the nv-driver (brought up black screen with some red pixels, system only reacted on magic sysrequest..). Vesa driver works (resolution 800x600)...I also wanted to boot from 2 Knoppix CD's floating around here but they both came up with a black screen, at the other hand a Clonezilla live-cd is working (with 800x600 and 1024x768 and this distorted pixels, see second screenshot from above).
Is it possible that my VGA Bios is corrupted or something? I suppose this because of the distortion in the boot screen...A guy in the german archforum gave me the advice to look if
    dmesg | grep -e mtrr -e MTRR
produces any output - it does not.

Ok, recently the exact same thing happen to me and my 6800.
These were the kernel's last words before everything froze hard. From everything.log,

Googling that, I stumbled upon this and I though jackpot!

There seems to be a known problem all the way back to the start of 180.51 driver series. But the weird thing is the previous version(180.44) had no problems whatsoever.
Also, my logs never showed this other error they were clamouring about...
[mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.
[mi] mieqEnequeue: out-of-order valuator event; dropping.
Adamant that a hardware failure at this point is too coincidental, I attempted first installing nvidia-beta and nvidia-utils-beta from aur as suggested by the post. Then, I tried downgrading the to the previous nvidia. Then, the previous kernel. The same thing keeps happening albeit with weird frequencies. There were times when it could last well over 5 hours, even on wesnoth. However, the thing that usually broke it is firefox loading with the usual 150+ tabs. This puzzled me even more. The graphic card isn't even related to this. Maybe its ram? Went on ram swapping spree again to no avail.
A couple of reboots later, weird graphical distortions appeared right after BIOS. Then it really hit upon me that this had to be a hardware problem! It was only when I fiddled desperately with the bios settings when I noticed that my Northbridge/chipset fan is spinning at 0rpm! Opened up the case and sure enough, its dead. I hacked and replaced it from my old AMD cpu's fan. Funny, my intel CPU fan just died a while back. Replaced it with the chasis fan. Can't be bothered to shop for these.....
Still, I booted up, thinking the bug will still be there since the chipset supposedly has nothing to do with graphics problem. To my surprise, it's totally gone! Elated yet puzzled, I sought out trying to rationalize the whole event. Afterall, it's only through understanding these that one is able to troubleshoot effectively. A quick search on google on the northbridge yields the answer. In fact, the northbridge does have something to do with the graphic card. It acts as an interface for high speed devices. No wonder firefox caused it to crash too!
    Lessons learnt
If the frequency of crashes seems too random, consider that it might be a hardware overheat failure. This can easily explain why "the next morning everything works fine".
If weird stuff happens outside of the OS, eg. while rebooting, it's most likely is a hardware failure.
should be a big coincidence if the card dies because of heat problems in the second I updated?
It really isn't such a big coincidence. This depends on the frequency of your updates. Most people update every week or even every few days.

  • I need help with problems after the April 2015 update

In December 2015 I purchased an LG G3. It started out great. Then often people couldn't hear me..sometimes with the speaker on, sometimes with it off, sometimes on bluetooth with my car,.or my voice faded in and out, or sounded muffled or garbled.  After over a month of these frequent audio problems and several calls to Verizon during which they boosted my signal and guided me through a factory reset which took all of my photos out of their albums, the final suggestion a few days ago (April 21, 2015) was to download the new software update. I did and I'm not happy with some of the changes e.g. I wish I could have the old  home touch buttons back,The jury is still out on sounds quality, but now I have two new annoying problems.
The first is that my car and phone used to bluetooth (connect) as soon as I put my engine on. Now, every time I get in my car I have to go into settings and give the phone permission to have other devices find my phone. Then after one or two tries the bluetooth eventually connects them. I am a Realtor and I need my phone and car to connect automatically every time I get in. I can give the phone permission to connect for up to an hour, but then it goes off. How do I get the opton to stay on?
The second is that I often turn my data off, and I used to do it from the notification panel that I can pull down. I just pulled it down and tapped "data" and the light would go off if the data was off and on if it was on.  Now when I tap "data" I can turn it on or off, but the data button stays lit so when the data is off the light is still on. No more quickly glancing to see the data status...I have to tap it and read the notice to find out. Yes, 3G or 4G light up in tiny letters at the top, but data is the only button that stays lit when it is turned off.
Am I missing the steps that would fix these issues?

    SiBIMe,
I am sorry to hear of the issues with your device before and after the update. We want to restore the love back to your device. Please keep us posted on the audio issues to see if the update did assist with that issues.
In regards to the two new problems, we want to make sure we get this worked out. Do you have issues with the device only auto connecting to your car or all bluetooths?  Do you receive and error message when the device doesn't auto connect and you attempt to connect manually but it fails? As for the data icon, when you tab on the data icon from the notification tab does the 4G actually disappear even thought the data icon is still lit?
Please test your device in Safe mode and let us know if you still experience the same issues. Here is how to place the device in safe mode. http://vz.to/1owbN8K

  • SMS problem after 3.1.2 update

    Hi,
I am not receiving any text messages after 3.1.2 update, and my phone has become too slow. Can one help please.
    Thank you

    Hello Carolyn,
Thank you for the warm welcome. As for my problem I did not want to be more specific but here are the gory details : I have 2 iphones. A 3GS with the 3.1.2 software and a regular 3G with the 3.0 software.
Whenever I plug the 3G, it appears in the 'My Computer' screen. I have access to the camera roll and can transfer my pictures to the computer folder I use for later iTunes transfer, using the Photos tab.
Now when I plug the 3GS, nothing happens. I checked the autoplay features based on the webpage you sent, and it did not solve the problem. Both phones actually have the same settings, and only the regular 3G works. I am now thinking about trying backup restore and/or factory defaults restore, to see if it fixes the problem.
What happens to the camera roll in these situations ? Is it included in the backup ? Otherwise I will have to find a way to get them :-/

  • Another major problem after 10.4.8 update

    Hi everyone,
I've never had any major problem with any Mac OS update yet until I had the crazy idea to install the 10.4.8 update last week. I wish I would have never done this. This is also the first time I wish I had Windows since I can't remember such a big screw up with any Windows update I've seen.
But back to the problem, after the installation on my old 12" Powerbook (1.33GHz with an additional 1GB of RAM) the system got really slow. The harddisk was accessed all the time, so after reading some forums people said that Spotlight would run a re-index of the database which made sense to me. So I just let it run over night and the next day the permanent HDD access was gone, but whenever I tried to access a folder it took ages (HDD access again...). So I decided to reboot which took about 20 minutes until the desktop fully showed up and was useable. Again, I had HDD access all the time. After two hours or so it stopped again, but as soon as I clicked on something, for example a folder, it started again. At that point the Powerbook was simply not useable anymore because I couldn't even start a program.
So I start browsing through several forums and many people suggested to re-install the 10.4.8 combo update again. That's what I tried, after a while I could only hear the HDD access running and running. The installer said 29 minutes left and progress bar didn't move any further. I had it running for over a hour like that. I couldn't abort it, I could start no other software, nothing. It still showed 29 minutes and the HDD was accessed all the time.
So I restarted the Powerbook since this obviously wasn't going anywhere. Apple logo came up, the little gear spinning thing as well and of course I could hear the HDD being accessed. After two hours of doing this I aborted and decided to boot into safe mode to install the combo update. Again, same situation. HDD running like crazy and Apple logo, but no login screen coming up.
So I decided to boot from the Install disk and have the disc utility check the HDD... but of course after selecting the language and clicking continue at the screen when the HDD first shows up it starts to access the HDD... I can't select the HDD, I can't even get to the DU, nothing. It's been running like that for hours now. It seems like whenever the HDD is involved in something the accessing starts and just keeps running without any result. The HDD is getting very hot already.
I've never run into such a problem before, so I'm kinda clueless what to do next. I don't mind to reinstall, but I have some files on that HDD that I need (some notes in text files, some emails and so on).
So at this point I can't boot into OS X to access the HDD and I can't use the installer disk to access DU or even reinstall if I wanted to. I don't think the HDD is broken, this only happened after the 10.4.8 update. It just seems that every HDD access takes hours and hours longer than it should.
What options do I have to get my data from the disk? I'll try to install OS X to a new external drive tomorrow (need one with firewire first). If that doesn't help I thought about pulling out the HDD from the Powerbook and hook it up to my MacMini or an iMac.
If anyone has any other suggestion or solved a similar problem before, please let me know.
    Best,
    Stephan

  • Mac Pro Boot Problems After 10.6.2 Update

After installing the latest version of snow leopard I am now having boot problems on my mac pro.
    Symptoms;
-Screen resolution is incorrect at apple splash screen.
-Takes a lot longer than usual to boot.
-Once booted the blue tooth magic mouse isn't imediately reckonised, takes a while to find that.
-Once the mouse is finally reckonised it can move around but can't click on anything or bring up the dock. Tried a wired mouse, had the same problem.
-The keyboard is also not appearing to do anything, none of the shortcuts or quick keys work..
Had exactly the same problem after 3 restarts but on the 4th after leaving it for a good 20-30minutes it setled down and everything was working okay. However this is a recurring problem as I had the same thing yesterday...
I have a my 10.5.8 system backed up on an external so I am running from that at the moment. Don't want to go back to snowy til these problems are solved.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Try Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)

  • Problems after iOS 6.0 update with iMessage  and FaceTime

After iOS 6.0 update i had problems to used iMessage and FaceTime

Messages will almost send but stop right before completion. FaceTime will go through only after multiple attempts. After that iMessage will work for a little while. Have talked with folks at apple support but they did not have a solution. Have tried both closing out the programs as well as turning the iPod off and back on. Neither has solved the problem. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks for your help.

  • The only way to fix Xperia P problems after the jelly bean update!

After the jelly bean update my Xperia got slow, I could not answer phone calls, the call log took so much time to appear , I have tried uninstalling external softwares , reseting the phone , nothing worked. Finally I have downgraded the phone follwing the guidelines provided in this link - http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Android-development/GUIDE-How-to-Install-Jelly-Bean-ICS-Ice-Cream-Sand...
Now my phone is fast , gallery is working fine , I can receive phone calls , no useless chrome by default , the google search widget works fast , the overall performance is much better. So I would recommend people to downgrade their Xperia p to ice cream sandwich and stick with it. OLD is GOLD!

What is your build version now after downgrading to ICS? I could not download 6.1.1.B.1.54 from the list which was best to me.. Please let me know quickly, I'm having the same **bleep** problem in JB.

  • Syncing and music problem after iOS 4.3 update

    Hi there
I updated to iOS 4.3 and found that my phone would no longer sync to my PC. After doing some research and trying lots of things (e.g. removing and reinstalling iTunes, de and reauthorising computer, forcing iphone to restart) I was having no luck so I did a restore. This didn't work either and just hung for hours, so had no choice but to stop it and then my partner managed to get my iPhone back to life on his Mac.
My iTunes then recognised it as new and I was able to start rebuilding my library. However, when I sync music to my iPhone now, it won't play - it just flashes up for a second and then crashes out. Only happens on my music - podcasts play fine. Haven't tried video yet. It also flashes up the album artwork but it is all distorted (cut in half with the bottom half at the top and vice versa...weird).
I tried downloading a song on my iPhone which played fine, until I then synced it with the computer and it got the same error as the others.
Any ideas?! I'm planning to uninstall iTunes again tonight (being sure to completely remove any trace) and erase all data and settings from the iPhone so I can start completely afresh. It's the only solution I can think of.
    Thanks
    Alan

I have discovered this is a problem with Windows 7 Updates (probably Service Pack 1) for me - after I installed the updates all my music corrupted again and iTunes started freezing and not backing up. Lo and behold, after formatting my computer again and not installing ANY Windows Updates, the problem was fixed and I've been able to add all my music back.
Now I'm not sure what to do - I would like to get Windows updated, but I know it's going to break my phone. Am tempted to try a different iPod manager software to see if that helps.
Where do I get the iTunes patch? (sorry if it's really obvious)

  • Safari problems after 10.4.11 update

Hi, since I updated to 10.4.11, my auto fill in Safari is not working anymore. Before it worked flawlessly for autofill. Can anyone tell me how to rectify that? I notice that a lot of people are having multiple problems after updating. It's too bad really.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Martha

My auto fill boxes are checked, yes. What are haxies and third party enhancements? I've never heard of that before. The auto fill is not working on the same web pages they worked on before, it used to auto fill my complete name, address, phone number, and email address. Now I have to do it all by hand.
    Thanks for you quick reply.

  • Problems after recent slew of updates

After the recent mass of updates through pacman...I have a few problems. My UPS monitor applet doesn't show up in the taskbar anymore...however it's still being detected, and I can view the status of it w/ "apcaccess status". Another problem I'm having is now ALSA's PCM channel is all messed up again. I've tried the usual fix...blacklisting all the sound modules except for the sound card driver and snd-pcm-oss...but that doesn't work either. Anybody else seeing these problems as well??

Update: Found a fix for the mouse sensitivity issue. The new xorg server includes new options to put into your xorg.conf file. More information can be found here: http://www.x.org/wiki/Development/Docum … 34190b732d .
As far as the option I put into my xorg.conf file to fix it was this:
    Option "ConstantDeceleration" "3"
Hope this helps people in the future.
