[Solved but not completely] New install with Kde 4.7 Full
Is kde 4.7 a bit heavy ? I have the proper ATI drivers installed which I used on all my distros. This is the first time I am using 4.7.

[PARTLY SOLVED BUT NOT COMPLETELY FIXABLE]GNOME not working
I installed GNOME 3.2 on my PC, but I can't get it to work. When I start it, all I get is a black screen with a cursor. Nothing else loads. I have X11 installed properly.
Is there something else I need to install? I can get KDE to work, but I don't like KDE.
BTW, my computer is kind of old and this is from a fresh install after updating all the installed packages.

Hi, I have a Indesign user who inherited a PC with Indesign installed. Indesign works with old PC user profile but not the new user. Any ideas how I can resolve this?
Question # 1 is what do you mean by "inherited"? Is this a case where the computer belonged to someone else? Your user would not be entitled to use a program licensed to someone else.

Itunes 11.1.5 (MacBook Pro,OS 10.6.8) will not sync new apps with iPhone 5 iOS 7.0.6 and gives grayed out "install" no message? How does one work around this?
Just reboot your laptop... While its rebooting try to reboot your phone also by holding the home and power buttonn for 10-15 seconds...When your phone is turned off try to connect it to iTunes and it will recognize your phone in recovery mode.
If you have the .ipsw file for iOS 7.0.6 saved in your desktop then in itunes press shift and click on Restore.
Select the ipsw file and let it restore.
If you dont have it downloaded then simply click on restore.

When I enter my password to start my atv it tells me, that "there was a problem connecting to the network." My Ipad works fine in my house, but not my new atv. I have reset my password multiple times with no help. I have also rebooted my wireless server. Do I take it back?

why I can only install adobe photoshop elements 12 but not able to install adobe premiere elements 12 with the same serial number to my macbook?
Photoshop ElementsPSE and PRE have different serial numbers. If you bought both programs you should have two separate serial numbers.

Before I un-install itunes has anyone had a problem getting an ipad mini to show up in itunes as a device when connected to the computer? My old ipad shows up but not the new mini.
Just wondered if anyone had any other suggestions.

It switches to the Classic view but not the new view which I really like.... My laptop has Google Chrome and it has not problems with this new view of Windstream only with Mozilla Firefox 5, the other version never had any problems either...I had 3 and had no problems till I up graded....
The longer this thread continues, the more ancillary comments you throw in that aren't directly pertinent to your problem with your DVR software not working with Firefox 4.0. Sorry, I don't intend to continue with this discussion.
I do agree that ''something'' needs to be done better with regards to plugins for Firefox, but I do disagree with you as to whose responsibility that ''something'' is. -
I can open a new browser window, but not a new tab, neither by clicking the plus or selecting it from the menu. I have fully updated firefox and also restarted. what's going on?

I've now tried nearly everything to solve this problem: My old white plastic Macbook connects to the corporate LAN --- but not my new mid-2009 Macbook Pro.
All the settings are the same. I have on occasion managed to connect the new Macbook Pro to the network but only for a short time.
Our IT folks have checked the cable, the ports,routers etc and everything is just fine.
I am able to connect to the network from other ports in the office --- but not from my office (except with the old white plastic Macbook).

If you can connect when using other ports in your office the problem is almost a certainty that the issue is with the port you can't connect with. Did your IT guy switch ports at the switch side to one that is known to work? We can't troubleshoot your LAN and it sounds like your computer is set up correctly if it connects using other ports. -
Generate DDL works in old version of SQL Developer, but not in new versions

How to generate DDL in new versions of Oracle SQL Developer for production Oracle database?
For production database, the generate DDL feature works fine in old versions (version 1.5.5) of Oracle SQL Developer, SQuirrel, Toad and many other similar tools, but not the new versions of Oracle SQL Developer (such as 2.1.1.64.45).
The SQL tab for a table is blank for me in production databases. Of course, it works fine in development Oracle database.
I did some research that many articles describe SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE as the required read-only role in production database. Our DBA did a test to grant me this role temporarily, and it worked for me to generate DDL using new Oracle SQL Developer. It is pain for me to ask for this role.
Is there a plug-in or work-around, so the new versions of Oracle SQL Developer can have this generate DDL feature in production without the mentioned SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE?
I could not find the answer in older forum threads.
For now, I will have to install older versions of Oracle SQL Developer.
ThanksI've seen a couple posts about people not being able to generate DDL for other users. To date, I've never seen a anybody post a workaround, nor have I seen one of the developers post a response, nor have I seen anybody say they've submitted a SR.
I think I remember reading somewhere that the new version of SQL Developer uses dbms_metadata.get_ddl to generate DDLS, rather than some custom query built on top of catalog views...which could explain why it use to work, but no longer does. But whether or not this is true, I don't know.
You could try submitting a SR and see if Oracle responds saying that it's a known bug and will be fixed in the next release. Until then, unless you get the role, you're stuck using something else for DDL generation. -

The first thing you need to do is download and install the Creative Cloud Desktop Application. Then, open that program and click on the Apps tab. You download and install creative cloud applications from there.
If your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements to run a given program, it won't show up under the Apps tab.
Once they are installed, you'll need to go to your Applications folder (Mac) or Program Files (x86) folder (PC) to start the program itself. -

CS3 Postscript fonts not visible when Installed with Suitcase 11.0 Vista Ult64
CS3 Postscript fonts not visible when Installed with Suitcase 11.0 on Vista Ultimate 64bit.
Truetype and Opentype work fine. I have searched through all the forums here multiple times, but not found a solution. The only workaround I found was to manually put the font files in c:/ProgramFiles(x86)/CommonFiles/Adobe/Fonts.
When I put any font files in that folder, they show up in CS3 for use, but not in windows apps. I thought I would make a permanent work around by placing all of my uninstalled font files in that folder, then use suitcase to install them from there. That didn't work because EVERY font in that folder is available to CS3 and turned on. Do they get installed when you put them in there?? It didn't seem like they were installed, and windows apps didn't see them.
These are workarounds anyway. My main goal is to have suitcase work so I can organize my fonts efficiently. Extensis blames the font and CS3. I have read that there are adobe issues with other font management software as well as suitcase. Any help would be appreciated.Got mine FIXED here is what i did:
Windows 7 64bit SP1, CS 5
Postscript fonts (comprising of *.pfb + *.pfm files) did not show up in any CS5 app, but showed OK in Word, Excel, Notepad etc.
Tried activating through Suitcase Fusion 2 and also through FontExpert 2009 - but neither of them made the fonts visible in CS5 apps
1) open Start Menu/Control Panel/Fonts
2) on the sidebar there is "Font settings" item
3) set the settings as i did
[ ] Hide fonts based on language settings
[ x ] Allow fonts to be installed using a shortcut (advanced)
FIXED mine,
now i can use Suitcase Fusion 2 to install any PFB/PFM fonts without any problems...

LR 5.6 on Mac desktop all of a sudden will not read any card from any reader but will work on my laptop. I can work on previous images but not import new ones. Even if I create a catalog on laptop and import to my desktop on a thumb drive, the images are only accessible as long as the thumb drive is inserted.
Sounds like you may need to repair the Disk Permissions on your drive where your images are stored.
