[SOLVED BY AN IDIOT] KDE4 leave menu options when not using KDM

This problem is more-or-less discussed in other threads, but I'd like to get a more precise answer on something.
(1) Recently I've been bypassing a login manager and starting KDE4 directly from boot*. Is this why I'm not getting the option to shut down or restart on my KDE "leave" menu?
(2) If this is what's going on, is there a way to put shut down and restart on my leave menu?
*I have this in my /etc/inittab:
x:45:once:/bin/su chas64 -l -c "/bin/bash --login -c startx >/dev/
null 2>&1"
And then this in my ~/.xinitrc:
DEFAULT SESSION=startkde

O.K., I think I just won the dumb-you-know-what of the week award.
I'll confess here, just in case it helps somebody else.
I changed from the new Kickoff K-menu to the classic K-menu, and I was happy to see the shutoff and restart options there along with logout.
Then, I switched right back to the Kickoff K-menu. I didn't see the shutoff and restart options.
I didn't see them -- but they were there, the whole time!
I just had to scroll down to the bottom of the Leave menu, beneath "Suspend to RAM" and "Suspend to disk".
Now, if I were designing this part of the interface, I think I would have put Shutdown and Restart just below Logout, but I guess since they're system commands and not session-specific commands, their placement beneath the Suspend options make sense. Sort of.
Man, what a numbskull! Sorry to waste people's time.

I want to keep a Pop Up Menu blank when not used?

I've got a spread sheet that in several cells that I have a Pop Up Menu assigned and the first menu shows up in the cell in all of the cells for the Pop Up Menu. What I'd like to have is to keep those cells blank with no text or anything unless I click on the cell and use the Pop Up Menu.
Hopefully someone understands what I'm trying to do here.

Your new question can be construed as, sort of, similar if you use the Conditional Format route.
Select all the cells where you want to have this effect, and set a Conditional Fornat where "Equal To: 0" results in Text Color of the same as your cell background Fill, usually White.
An IF-test in the cells with the percentage calculation will wortk too. Let's say your base value is in Column A.
=IF(A>0, A*X%, "")
where X is the amount of the percentage you are calculating will blank the cell on a zero result.

I have tried to fix it by deleting the trash / deleted files as suggested in another thread but it made no difference. The delete key still works to delete things outside of Thunderbird (including here for example).
I have not uninstalled / reinstalled. I have rebooted a couple of times and it hasn't made any difference.
I did go through and delete a huge number of old emails a few days ago, but I have cleared out the Deleted folders and it made no difference.
All suggestions appreciated.

Right click on any of the other right panel headers in Slideshow module to open the context menu. You should be able to reactivate the Options panel from there.

Leave macbook on or turn it off when not using it?

any one please can you tell me is it better to leave my macbook on when not using it as I heard that it does some important updates at night time? or is it better to just turn it off and then reboot it when next going to use it. I use it pretty much every day and leave it on charge which is also my second question would it be better to leave my mac on charge but I have noticed the power adapter which is not on the extention cable but just on the small plug from the socket to the power cable

As to your second question, leave it plugged in most of the time if you can. Use it off AC power occasionally and calibrate once a month or so.

"Open Page With" menu option does not list Firefox anymore

I recently updated Safari to 4.0.3 and I am no longer able to open the current page in Firefox via the "Develop > Open Page With" menu option. It does not list Firefox even though I have 3.5.2 installed. Also, I am unable to show the Debug menu. Any thoughts?

When Firefox downloaded the 3.5.1 to 3.5.2 update, the new installation was not recognized by Safari. I had to download the full 3.5.2 setup file and reinstall. That fixed it.

Using WEBUTIL in the Menu - problems when not in current form..

We make a webutil call in the menu - but it is a problem when the current form does not have webutil attached to it.
Is there any work around other than putting webutil in 100 forms?
OPEN_FORM/CALL_FORM both affected.

I've just spotted this thread, so my comments might be too late to be useful, but... I had a similar problem, and as Eric suggested, went for the approach of having a single, small form dedicated solely to running Webutil functions. Any form or menu option that needs to do something WebUtil-related (e.g. 'I need to have File A moved from the apps server to the client') calls a library routine which then calls the dedicated form, passing it all the instructions it needs to carry out the action. Control then returns to the original form. At the moment, I leave the dedicated form in the background in modeless state, so it can be used again if needed elsewhere without having to be reloaded. (If the user tries to click on the modeless form, it shoves control straight back to the 'main' form.)
I read somewhere that ideally you shouldn't WebUtil-enable every form, if most of the time, most of them won't use it. There's the overhead of initialising all the beans every time a form is opened, and it seems to me that that's relatively intensive, as bean usage goes. Not a showstopper by any means, though.

MENU - mmx file not used by form 6

I have created a "tree root" menu with submenus, I compile them and get a .mmx with the menu name, however this menu is not used by runform.
Should I set a parameter in a config file to change which menu is taken into account?

With a laptop MAC is it better to leave it on and asleep or do you need to power down or hibernate when not using?

I just got a new MacBook Pro. With my netbook, I was told to hibernate or shut down when I was finished. With my PC I was told to turn off the monitor but leave the computer on because each time you shut down and rebooted you wore down the components. My mother is a photographer and keeps her MAC desktop on all the time, and just moves the mouse to bring the screen back to life. She never turns it off unless going out of town. So, with a MacBook (MAC laptop) should I keep the laptop on all the time and just take it out of sleep when I need it, or should I shut down and re-boot in the morning? Thanks.

it's actually up to you. I leave mine turned on all the time and just close the lid when i'm not using it.
if however, you will not use it for days, it's best to power it off.
not the same was windows laptop where we were always told to turn it off.
again, this is user preference.

Leaving applications open when not in use

This may be the world's dumbest computer question but what effect does it have on the OS to leave applications open on the dock when not in use? Any? Apps such as, e.g., Office 2008? Does it slow the OS to have apps open when not in use? Or perhaps no effect unless using them? Does it matter if Safari is left open after logging off a secure site?
I've been compulsive about closing what's not in use but I just installed Office 2008 and Word and Excel, for example, are slow to open so I'd like to just always leave them open on the dock.
Sorry if this is just too dumb. I searched but didn't find anyone else who had asked. Maybe everyone else knows.

Stop the navigation to menu options when user is creating a bp

If you are in view (CreateOrg IUICMD) and user select an option of menu (For example contacts)
systems go to contacts is view.
It's possible stop this and make that user can't leave the view (CreateOrg) unless press Button Cancel or Save.

Site Manager menu option are not there

Hi guys!
I'm quite new with business catalyst, but I've recently become a paid account (Webcommerce) and I have 2 options below the menu tab "Site Manager".
I'm watching a lot of tutorials and all of them got a lot op options below the site manager, and I only got Web Forms and System emails, so I think that there are missing a lot of options missing!

Then it would be a problem with my CC account. Because my role as admin is full, and I created this account so then the only option left is the CC account!
I was very interested in the combination of Muse and BC, so I let me inform by both parties who have figured out all this, and that this is the best solution for me.
Unfortunately by this far, is it a waste of my time and money I've put into this system and I got a pissed off customer. It is therefore the first and last time I used Adobe and BC.

How to see the BPS menu options when you log-in to the systems

Hello All:
I am able to use BPS0 and BPS_WB transactions to directly access the BPS development environment.
But I am not able to see the options for accessing these transactions in the user-menu(that appears to the left of the screen when you log-in to the system). I am using the BW 3.5 system. What should I do to see them in my menu?

Hello Ajay,
I created a new role called "zrole" for displaying planning trasactions in the menu. The name of the area menu to see the planning transactions in BW 3.5 is "RS00_PLAN". I am now able to see all SEM planning transactions in the menu.
I am awarding full points.
Ashwin - Since the menu for accessing the planning transaction is not available by default in the SAP menu I had to create a role.

HT1414 having bought a new MacBook, I wanted to Sync my iPhone4 to it, but it insists the only method to do so is to "Erase and Sync" or "Cancel" which leaves no option to just use iTunes on the new MacBook Pro - how annoying is that???

I have had the iphone4 for 2 years now and I bought a new MacBook Pro, opened iTunes and it knew I already had other machines with iTunes sync'ed with it but it still insisted on offering one option or sync'ing with new MacBook - "Erase and Sync", which means deleting EVERYTHING on the iphone. What if I want my iPhone to dictate and get iTunes on the Macbook to match up with the iPhone??? Or at least get iTunes to relate to what my iTunes account obviously has on it and update that way. Come on Apple, as per usual, very pretty but not very practical!!!

You can only sync everything with your one syncing computer/iTunes library. Yu can:

No menu options when trying to share

I cant find anyone else with the same issue i am having, when i click on share i get no options, its just none responsive.
Other forums have mentioned that it could be due to an export already in progress but thats not the case for me (no icon showing progress)
Any suggestions please.

Adobe Reader showing Garbled Printer Options when trying uses preferences , or trying to open a PDF File

When I try to open a PDF file or choose Preferences . IT shows a printer options screen on Adobe Reader 11.0 . I have resassocaited the file type - I have also tried a repair and uninstall and reinstall and also used Adobe Cleaner. _ I cannot get Acrobat Reader to work correctly . What am I missing
