[SOLVED] C-BN4 Cordless Optical Mouse Problem

ever since yesterday, after no updates or anything my mouse after a reboot just quit working. I've changed batteries, switched out mouses booted up in both kernel26-ARCH and kernel26-ck. Which logs should I be checking or where should I turn to take a look at the settings. By the way, I'm running openbox on a MBP.

What about a little sharing of you new knowledge with rest of us. Otherwise, this solved post give people only impression: "There is a guy whose mouse stop working and now it works again!"
Many thanks

Just suggestion for next time. If you post output from command, do it as plain text rather then as png file. At least, an advantage of the plain text is that this is indexed for searching.

  • Logitech Cordless Optical Mouse doesnt work with mac os x 10.4.5?

I just bought a Logitech® Cordless Optical Mouse in japan to use with my powerbook running os x 10.4.5...the mouse doesnt seem to work with the native bluetooth system. so I plugged in the supplied reciever and could get the mouse to move the cursor, but only that. buttons dont work. I down loaded some kind of device manager from the logitech web site but just as the apple bluetooth manager it does not "discover" the mouse.
I noticed that the system requirements for the logitech device manager is osx 10.3 - 10.4.2 so im wondering if my system is to new for this product.
all this i found out after i bought the mouse, and it is a little irritating...it said it was mac compatible on the box...
should I be waiting for an update from logitech or apple concerning this problem.
or is there an easy fix/ anyone else have this problem?
    thanks

Hi, © !       — or do you prefer Ulfur?
What model?   "A Logitech® Cordless Optical Mouse" covers a lot of territory. For example, I have a CordlessOptical11 mouse that's several years old — and IrDA, not Bluetooth. This Logitech page contains a chart defining the name and "device model string" for each product, based on the M/N stamped into the bottom of your mouse. Better safe than sorry: Logitech's support — particularly for Mac folk — can be somewhat challenging. [1]
From there, you might try to confirm that you have the correct driver from Logitech's Support »» Downloads »» Mice page —
                         — but, Oops! — unfortunately, it may only link to Windows-compatible drivers.
Logitech has used their own patented RF technology for years — and some of their "Bluetooth" products "may not" actually provide Bluetooth functionality in Macs. (OK, that was tongue-in-cheek: I really mean "do not.") The mice usually work, though.
AFAIK, Logitech Control Center 1.6.2 is their latest driver for USB mice. (They have other mouse drivers, too.)
However, as this page explains, their V270 Bluetooth mouse supposedly doesn't require a driver separate from what's provided by Apple.
You may want to search this forum for differing views on this. Also, go to this Logitech user forums page and click to select the Macintosh forum. I won't deny you the (dis-?)pleasure of reading about others' experiences...
[1]  Sorry, I don't mean to be as discouraging as I've probably made things sound. Most Mac folks have actually had pretty good experience with Logitech USB and Bluetooth mice — but Logitech Support's attitude toward Mac users could be improved. Please check things to confirm what's what — then post back, and I — or someone else who's using an MX900 or MX1000 or V270 or whatever Logitech mouse — will try to help further.
Looking forward to hearing back from you,
    Sincerely,
    Dean
[2]  The links I've provided all work within Logitech's US website (I just tested). If appropriate, you may want to start fresh from the Logitech home page and find comparable international pages.

  • Optical mouse problems

I can't find answers or a closely related discussion.
My Logitech Optical mouse started doing strange things today and was really bad, is now a bit better..but still not right.
I can't open the 3 different volume icons on my desktop, except by highlighting the icon and opening it under Finder/File/Open....or Command O.
Also, the screen/desktop occasionally and suddenly turns a deep blue-green shade and the windows zoom to opposite corners like....what? Expose? (not sure..don't use it). Just rapid, zooming windows.
I can now scroll and open folders..couldn't earlier; windows would flash open and immediately close; couldn't drag/move the finder or application windows around the desktop; can now. Most of the improvements came after dumping the Logitech updates and all related files.
I updated the Logitech software and the problem got a lot worse. Now I've tossed all the Logitech software and installed USB Overdrive 10.4.5; I've repaired permissions, run disk repair from a backup; rebuilt the directory w/DW; unplugged and plugged the mouse cable in again directly to the computer; rebooted.
The problem occurs even when I boot from either of two external HD bootable system volumes. I have also run all utilities and created new directories for them. All is green on DW so I assume, from running on three different systems, that the common problem is the mouse. The remaining problems seem to be:
-not being able to dbl or single click open the HD and other two volume icons on the desktop (I actually could for a while then lost it again); and
-the disturbing blue-green screen that occurs occasionally and suddenly with the zooming windows. If I run the cursor over the windows, I get a little oval tag that tells the name of the window. If I click on the desktop then they disappear and return to the way they were. It's all fast like when Dashboard Widgets appear and disappear.
Any ideas for help..please? I've been at it all day. Thanks.

Have now discovered that a Safe Boot doesn't change anything, so I ran this terminal command and the result said each pref listed (and there were a lot) was OK.
    find ~/Library/Preferences /Library/Preferences-type f -name "*.plist" | sed -e"s/\(.*\)/\"\1\"/" | xargs plutil -lint
I also discovered that when I have any app open, I can cause the dark blue-green screen by moving the cursor to the top left corner of the screen.
This problem came on rather suddenly and I'm trying to think of what's new w/apps..think I updated ClamXav.app shortly before this started. I rarely use that but when I opened it, got the prompt for an update, so I did. Think I'll dump that and see what happens.
Please..anyone out there have any idea what this problem is or what else I can check? Wasn't ClamXav!

  • Optical Mouse problem

I use a Microsoft Intelli Wheel Optical Mouse; wired through the USB port on my Apple keyboard.  Recently the mouse keeps 'disconnecting' - an occasional latency in use, and then it dies (stops working and the light goes out)- but is OK if I unplug it and reconnect.  I've downloaded the latest driver without success. Anyone else have this problem and know what the issue is? I'd rather not have to buy another just to see if the mouse is at fault.

Yes, I should have mentioned I've already tried that and it makes no difference.

  • Logitech cordless optical mouse & MSI k7D-master

just wanted to know if someone is using a logitech cordless and optical mouse around and a MSI
    K7D-MASTER???
I bought one last week and put it to work, pretty nice invention I said!!!!!
    it was functioning pretty well, comfortable i´d say, until that moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;(  :O  X(  8o  ?(  X(

The moment i decided to install the st*pid software bundle it has!!!!
MOUSEWARE 9.41.1 (windows) for Microsoft Windows:
    XP, Me, 2000, 98, 95, NT 4.0
this machine runs 2 processors (athlons MP)& Wxp PRO.
I installed the software like i always do it ( put it into my cdrw and appeared the install screen) i was prompted to install the mouse software & music match too, i did it.
    My machine is as follows:
    K7D MASTER-L
    2 Athlons MP 1600+

I wanted to restart my system once and did it, but when it restarted a small st*pid window suddenly appeared telling me i have lost my profile just like this:
"Windows cannot load your profile because it may be corrupted. Contact your administrator. "
“Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off”

    I decided to use system restore…..it functioned. I have everything back  )  )  )  )  )  )
I think Wxp pro, 2 processors & mouseware from Logitech are not good combination!
Logitech: I won’t buy anything from them again, the box the mouse came in has a legend telling you: over 10 million Cordless mice Sold!! (Yeah, that´s right for uni processor machines, maybe)
I ´m still learning things about my dual processor machines: they do not like everything that is designed for uniprocessor machines!!!
A dual processor machine is something fast, more than one processor has to be better in many aspects. But again, not everything is designed for a dual processor machine.
Does anyone know how to back up your profile in  Wxp pro????
    Any comments are welcomed!!!

Before Installing CD drivers you should always check to see if later drivers are available.  The 9.6x drivers have been out for ages so go and try them.

  • Optical mouse problems with K8N Neo - BIOS?

Hi guys, I recently bought a cheapo Trust USB Wireless optical mouse.
    I tried E-mailing the manufacturer, asking about the problem;
"The mouse works fine as long as its in continuous motion, but heres the
    problem:
Whenever Ive let go of it for a few seconds and then try to move it again,
it moves around the screen in an uncontrollable manner for a second or two before
    it returns to normal state.
This seems to have something to do with the "powersaving" capability of the
mouse or something. You know, most optical mouses power down after a few seconds of inactivity, and wakes up as soon as its moved. This one sort of has problems wake up properly.
Im using the standard XP drivers for HID-compilant mouse.
Can I do anything to prevent this? Its really annoying."
    So heres the reply:
it can be due to an incorrect set setting in your computer's BIOS. I
suggest you take the manual of the PC or Main board before looking into your
    BIOS.
You have to set the option like "Power Management" correctly.
Every BIOS on each PC brand is different so we can't exactly guide you in
    this.
So is there a way to fix this? Have tried looking through BIOS myself, but can't find anything that seems related to this....

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR, Mouse problem & Video off problem solved!!!

I find the following information that I collected very interesting at the very least...
    Here goes...
The video off problem that I was having was directly linked to the mouse. Here, let me explain the video off problem. In the BIOS Have the Standby mode set to S3. The problem occurred when I started windows, then went into standby, then started back up, then restarted the computer, the monitor would act as if it were in sleep mode, or rather there was no signal being sent to the monitor. Well the odd way I fixed that is by plugging in a standard 2 button PS/2 mouse. Also this fixed the issue with the mouse sometimes not working in windows.
    Here is how I tested.
    Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse, PS/2 & USB= failed.
Logitech iFeel Optical Mouse, USB= failed.
Microsoft Cordless Ball Mouse, PS/2= failed.
Standard Artec (Cheapy brand) Ball Mouse (With no wheel), PS/2= All issues fixed, and passed.
When I said failed I do not mean they didn't work, I mean they sometimes didn't work and also caused the Video off problem after restarting the computer.
Obviously it isn't the ports (PS/2 or USB) that are the problem, it is more like the mouse itself, and the amount of buttons in particular. As you can see above the only mouse that works correctly is the one that only has 2 buttons, the rest has 3 or more buttons along with a Wheel. The MX700 has 8 buttons + wheel, WOW!
Anyways I figure out it was the mouse, and not the memory.
Obviously MSI needs to make a patch for this mouse problem.
I'm still having a hard time believing that the mouse caused the video not to work, but it is true! I spend well over 5 hours testing this crap. Every time with the mice with more then 3 buttons it messed up, and every time with the 2 button old fashion mouse it worked flawlessly!
MSI, get to work on a new BIOS to fix this mess!!!  :]

LOL, that isn't what I'm talking about.
There seems to be a problem with my motherboard accepting mice with more then 2 buttons. It works the first time, but if you restart the computer, the video goes off. If you have both installed, it still messed up.

  • Mouse problems after 11/29/05 Security Update?

I installed the 11/29/2005 Security Update 2005-009 via Software Update. Right afterwards (even before the required reboot), I began having mouse oddities. The cursor disappears from the screen, or just stays there and doesn't move. Moving the mouse won't make the cursor move. I must click the mouse before the cursor "wakes up" and responds to the mouse. It's fine after that.
I'm using a Logitech cordless optical mouse. Batteries are fresh and this only begain right after installing the Security Update. Anyone else experiencing this?
[ Edited by Apple Discussions Moderator; added update ID 2005-009 ]

I have resolved the issue! As I mentioned, I am using a Logitech cordless optical mouse. I connected up my Apple keyboard & mouse and disconnected the Logitech. The problem no longer occurred with the Apple mouse.
I removed the batteries from the Logitech mouse and disconnected the USB receiver. Restarted the computer, reconnected the Logitech setup, disconnected the Apple stuff, and now it is working.

  • Bluetooth Connection Problem Logitech V270 Cordless Optical Notebook Mouse

I just start using the Logitech® V270 Cordless Optical Notebook Mouse for Bluetooth with my Ibook g4. The Ibook has internal bluetooth module installed. The mouse is easy to install. It pairs with the computer and both buttons and scrollwheel works.
However the Bluetooth connection gets lost occasionally. Most of the times it reastablish the connection quickly after. I think this is strange as the mouse is always near my iBook.
Does anyone has an idea how this problem can be solved? Or what might be the cause of this bluetooth disconnection? The mouse doesn't need drivers for operation on a mac. Some people have the same connection problems?

I have use the same mouse and I have never had a dropped connection. Have you tried replacing the batteries in the V270 to see if that might avoid the drop out?

  • Problems with Vista 64b and Scrollpoint Optical Mouse

I have a desktop system with a Scrollpoint Optical Mouse, 33L3250, and with the latest Vista maintenance, the Mouse seems to be acting a bit funky.  The mouse pointer will be going along fine, and then just stops for a couple of seconds.
I tried to go and find the latest drivers:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-66913
as near as I can make out is the latest.  Shows:
    Version: 5.18 Release Date: 2009/09/11
but this does not seem to recognize the Mouse, still using parts of the Microsoft Mouse driver.  Mouse is plugged in via PS2 at the moment.  When I go look at the programs installed, I cannot find anything from Lenovo or IBM related to the mouse, so I'm not sure if running Setup.exe from the appropriate directory worked (or, for that matter, how to uninstall it).  What I do see is MouseSuite 5.18 on the Mouse properties, last (right-most tab).  But the first tab kind of acts up, blank options, etc.
Has anyone else seen this problem, worked through it?  Any later drivers I should be trying to use?

OK, tried a reinstall, got a little further:
Mouse Suite no shows up on the uninstall list (Mouse Suite, no manufacturer, no version, unfortunately, but does show a 1/3 date)
When I go into Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Mouse, I see some anomalies:
Buttons Tab:  Mouse: field is blank, Button:  Function: same, pull downs also blank
Last tab shows Lenovo Mouse Suite, Version 5.18, etc.
However, any time I press OK on one of the screens, I get a Windows error:
Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working.
And then the whole thing goes down.
Looking at the application error messages, I see:
Faulting application rundll32.exe, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bb52, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e041d1, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000000000012575, process id 0x8b8, application start time 0x01ca8c91ff6985bc
I should note that the Hardware is still showing Microsoft PS/2 mouse, and the driver is still showing Microsoft 6/21/2006 6.0.6001.18000
    c:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\i8042prt.sys
    c:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\mouclass.sys
which kind of looks to me like the Lenovo install failed to update those (or conversely, on reboot, Vista 64 reverted).  So not sure what to do next.

  • Basic Optical Mouse Install Problem??

    Hello:
I am using a Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse v 2.0 - It has been workin erractically.
I downloaded the newest update Intellipoint 8.1 for Mac - But, when I tried tio install it, I first get a window:
“Microsoft Mouse.pkg” may be an application.
It was downloaded from the Internet and will be opened by Adobe Reader.
Are you sure you want to open it?
When I click on it to open it, I then get this window:
(Acrobate symble)There was an error opening this document.
    This file cannot be found.
Can someone please tell me what is going on here with this install - I'm not sure what Adobe Reader has to dop with an install of another
    application.
    Thank you.

Ok I downloaded it.  That installer is an app (executable application bundle) so you won't see an Open with.
There is a package (.pkg) inside the app bundle but it really should be typed correctly.  Anyway, right click on the app icon (go get a contextual menu) and the 2nd contexutal item should say Show Package Contents.  Select that item and then navigate in the finder down into the Resouces (inside the Contents folder).  There you should see Microsoft Mouse.pkg.  Do a finder get info on that to see what I says it will be open with.  It should say Installer.app.  If it doesn't then do what I said earlier and navigate down to the Installer.app in CoreServices.
All of this really should NOT be unnecessary.

  • Using an optical mouse with my s10e

    Hi
I am not able to use any optical mouse with my s10e. Ayn driver available?
    Thank you

Hi, but that didnt solve your problem...
I have a little quest for you, to near the fences around the wild mice ...
Did you use the factory installed XP  ?
    in that case...yes..
in case of no jump to END
Did other usb devices recognized , like flashdrive/external hdd/keyboard ?
have you try it on both ports ?
    if not ...
have you activate /installed Quickstart ?,
    if yes .
. then plug in the usb mouse and
start QS for testing...external mice/keyboard  should be recognized...
    if the answer is yes...
i think its better to set the XP system to fresh factory recover ,
if you answer all upper quest with no your S10e mainboard could be broken , so you have to call for service..
    END
Did you install the system self... ?
    yes
Did you have complete XP with SP3 install ?
    yes
Did you have shrink windows with nlite ?
    yes
Did you install all drivers chipset and so on ..
Did you have yellow signs in the system device manager ?
hope that you find the solution...

  • Mighty Mouse Problems

    Greetings all - I have a new iMac 2.4, 24 inch running OSX 10.5.1.
Have been having problems with my cordless Mighty Mouse - basically the right click function stops working. It just suddenly doesnt work anymore (ie it just does the same as left click)
I have tried changing the batteries, reselecting the secondary button option in System Preferences, restarting the computer and nothing fixes it - it just starts working again when it wants to.
Now (since yesterday) it suddenly starts moving really slowly - Ill move the mouse at normal speed but the cursor moves slowly and jittery across the screen. Again, this just fixes itself when it wants too.
Any ideas - I love the form of the Mighty Mouse but its performance so far has left a lot to be desired - might be time to bring out the trusty old Logitech again.

check out threads/forums under "mighty mouse freezes". You'll find some dialogue, perhaps ways to solve there....
