[SOLVED] Can't Complete Installation

I wiped my drive and did a remote install, which went mostly great, I even got an internet connection. The problem is, when I get to the install packages stage, everything fails. I tried pacman -Syu which outputs
:: Synchronizing package databases...
error: failed to update core (unexpected error)
error: failed to update extra (unexpected error)
error: failed to update community (unexpected error)
error: failed to synchronize any databases
I looked at my mirrorlist.conf, which had no commented mirrors. So, I commented all but a few. Still, I get the same result. Any ideas?

Curious if he's using the core install that he doesn't really need the network part to do his install (I don't think he's using that).
But the pacman messages say unexpected error.  If it was network error, would be transient resolver error.  Maybe a pacman --debug would help us.

  • I can't complete installation of Adobe Photoshop 11

    I have been trying to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 & Premiere Elements 11 for several days with no success. My Photoshop installation is not completed & I can't seem to complete it. When I ask for help I get answers that are irrevelant. I found folders with thousands of my photo's from PE 4, but can't seem to access them as the installation of Photoshop 11 is incomplete. My Premiere Elements installation is completed in German which I don't speak. Wish I could talk to one of their so called experts but don't know how to contact one.

    My suggestion, if I understand your predicament correctly, is to go to your programs list and completely unistall every version of elements that have on your computer, including the partially installed elements 11. It will not get rid of your pictures. Then, once all versions have been unistalled, try a brand new install with the CD, where it should allow you to chose the language at that time as well.

  • Can't complete installation

    I was required to download the Quicktime update in order to access photos on the Verizon Photos site. However after I download the update and run the installation I get the message "X The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation. OK". I have Windows Vista, and have no idea how to correct this problem. Can anyone help?

    If you right-click on the QuickTimeInstaller.exe (installer) file and select "Run as administrator", does that get you past the message?

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I don't seem to have the "com.apple.garageband.plist" file that has been a common solution. Any suggestions?

    After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I've read through several posts that all reference the "com.apple.garageband.plist" solution. I don't seem to have the referenced .plist. Any solutions or suggestions?

    Did you upgrade from SnowLeopard?
    I can't get passed the complete installation
    What exactly is happening? Is GarageBand trying to download over and over again?
    all reference the "com.apple.garageband.plist" solution. I don't seem to have the referenced .plist.
    The property list stores your preferences, but also the settings from the last run of the application.  If that file is corrupted in some way, you might see third behaviour.
    You must have this file, for it will be recreated automatically, if it is missing, or you have a permissions problem with your user library.
    Perhaps you did look in he wrong place.
    in MacOS 10.7. or later the User Library is hidden. To find the Preferences Files use the Finder's "Go" menu:
    Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
    Click onto you Desktop to bring the Finder forward.
    In the Finder Menu press "Go" and hold down the "option/alt" key, until your user library appears in the drop-down menu
    Select "Library" and in the Finder window that opens navigate to the "Prederences" folder; move com.apple.garageband.plist to the Desktop.
    Log off and on again (don't skip that step!). Retry GarageBand and see if it GarageBand is now downloading the missing content properly.
    If that does not fix the problem, post back and explain in more detail what the download problem is.
    Why did you "repurchase" GarageBand? If you already owned GarageBand '11, it should be unnecessary.

  • I am not able to install my 'Complete National Geographic' cd on my Mac mini which runs Lion OS. The error message I get says  'Can't open installer as classic environment is no longer supported' can some one suggest a solution

    I am not able to install my 'Complete National Geographic' cd on my Mac mini which runs Lion OS. The error message I get says  'Can't open installer as classic environment is no longer supported' can some one suggest a solution.

    It means the software is PowerPC code, which is no longer supported in Lion. Your choices are to go back to Snow Leopard, run Snow Leopard Server in a virtual machine within Lion, see if the vendor has an updated version of National Geographic that will run on an Intel Mac, or run the software on an older Mac separately.

  • Can't complete OS X Mavericks installation on MacBook Pro

    I've downloaded the OS X Mavericks upgrade on my MacBook Pro, but when I install it, it keeps getting stuck at the installer where it says "Time Remaining: Completing installation... Your computer will restart automatically" but it NEVER restarts! I've tried it several times already, but it keeps getting stuck there...
    Can anyone tell me what I should do? I can't even quit the installer and just not do the upgrade. I'm just STUCK THERE. Please help!!

    Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. Try the installation in the Safe Mode. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem.

  • Can't install:"1628: Failed to complete installation."

    Upon double-clicking on OracleXE.exe (165.332.312 byte, production), I receive a dialog box stating "1628: Failed to complete installation".
    I have MSIExec.exe version 3.1.4000.1823 on my system.
    I've followed the instructions (looking for still-running install processes, clearing the temp directory, making sure I have a current Windows Installer) and none work.
    I don't found in temp directory an OracleDatabaseExpressInstall.log.
    I have Windows Xp Pro Sp2, 1Gb ram, Sempron 2600+, Hd 80 Gb.
    I have setting language from Italian to English (US).
    On an other pc is all ok.

    You can find OracleDatabaseExpressInstall.log in the %SystemRoot% directory, not in in the "temp" Directory. Often the %SystemRoot% is C:\WINDOWS.
    Do you use a "Local Administrator" to install XE ?

  • Can't complete windows installation - Stuck at Press any key to boot from..

    I am unable to install windows xp service pack 3 or windows 7 on to my iMac running latest boot camp installer. I can start the installation process, but when windows installer completes copying all the files on to the boot camp partition and reboots the system I get stuck at this message "PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM A CD OR DVD", which won't go away even if I wait for 10-15 minutes. To get rid of this I have to hard reset the iMac by pressing the power button for a few seconds and then boot into Mac HD using the option key.
    Please advise if I need to tweak some settings to complete the installation or if you need more information to resolve this issue. Thanks!

    I was able to complete the installation process by formatting the windows bootcamp partition through windows installer (and not using Mac disk utility to format the partition into NTFS format). Hope this helps someone.

  • [Solved]Can't finish The Hobbit installation with virtual drive

    Is there any way that I could combine two iso files into one so that I could finish The Hobbit installation process.  I always get stuck at the point where it asks for the second disk and gnome-disk-utility won't unmount the first ISO because it's still in use by the installation process.
    I tried doing this
    $ sudo mount -t iso9660 -o loop disc1-mountpoint
    $ sudo mount -t iso9660 -o loop disc2-mountpoint
    $ sudo mkisofs -l -J -R -o dvd.iso disc1-mountpoint disc2-mountpoint
    and here's what I got
    I: -input-charset not specified, using utf-8 (detected in locale settings)
    Using BILBO000.ICO;1 for /bilbo.ico (bilbo.ico)
    Using AUTORUN000.INF;1 for /Autorun.inf (Autorun.inf)
    genisoimage: Error: '/media/dc/bilbo.ico' and '/media/live/bilbo.ico' have the same Rock Ridge name 'bilbo.ico'.
    genisoimage: Error: '/media/dc/Autorun.inf' and '/media/live/Autorun.inf' have the same Rock Ridge name 'Autorun.inf'.
    Unable to sort directory
    NOTE: multiple source directories have been specified and merged into the root
    of the filesystem. Check your program arguments. genisoimage is not tar.
    So here's what I'm currently trying right now.
    $ cat HobbitCD1.iso > The_Hobbit.iso
    $ cat HobbitCD2.iso >> The_Hobbit.iso
    Okay, so doing that didn't return any errors, now to see if I can finish the installation with the new ISO file.
    Nope it still asks for disk 2.  So the real question is how can I force the first disk to unmount so that I can replace it with the second disk?

    Manually mount the first iso image, begin installation, forcibly unmount old iso, mount new iso, continue installation.
    Oh, you can forcibly unmount something?!
    (read the manpage for umount)
    Oh, whaddaya know, you can.
    from umount's manpage
    -f Force umount (in case of an unreachable NFS system). (Requires kernel 2.1.116 or later.)
    I dunno why I didn't think to check the manpage for umount.  Sorry, my bad.
    EDIT: Okay, so forcibly unmounting the iso didn't work.  I was able to force umount, but I couldn't disassociate the /dev/loop2 from the HobbitCD1.iso file.  losetup doesn't seem to support forcing.  I think that I better just install this under Windows and then copy and paste the installed files to my external hard drive and then move them onto my laptop from there.  =/ Not really what I was looking for, though.

  • [Solved]Hibernating without a swap, now systemd can't complete booting

    Tried hibernating without a swap (by mistake, I forgot that I don't use a swap nowadays!), now systemd can't complete booting.
    But, if I remove the init=whatever/systemd line from the bootloader, the old init system does its work nicely.. (though that's a poor permanent solution. )
    I have saved the 1000+ line journalctl log, but have no idea where to start looking for the problem.
    https://www.pastee.org/j3htz
    It seems to be something to do with filesystem errors, as the following line is the last shown by systemd before stopping.
    Nov 11 20:19:45 manasijd systemd-fsck[413]: Home: clean, 85694/1221600 files, 4430911/4883456 blocks
    But running fsck(after unmounting the partitions) from the 'emergency mode' systemd drops me into, the results come up clean.
    Any idea what can be wrong, or what exactly to look for in the log ?

    Seems like I was correct about the filesystem problem @ /home .
    Backed up the home folder and nuked the ext4 partition and created a new btrfs in its place.
    Everything seems to be fine now, after copying back the folder (few issues with kde not cooperating, but nothing major) .
    Btw, can anyone try to replicate this on a 'torture' rig or a virtual machine, seems to be a pretty important bug ?
