[SOLVED]Can't get ip after boot

After the boot, I can't get a local ip address, I have two interfaces: eth0 e eth1. I use the eth1, PCI card.
To get an IP i have to do ifconfig eth1 up and rc.d restart wicd.
My modules are: !snd_pcsp !pcspkr
My daemons at boot are: dbus hwclock syslog-ng acpid @alsa !network netfs crond wicd dhcpcd sensors @firestarter vboxdrv noip
Output of lspci -v for eth1

A bit OT, but the current rc.conf doesn't support blacklisting modules so '!snd_pcsp !pcspkr' sin't doing anything.
How did you set these interfaces up? Maybe they got mixed up on boot https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … vice_Names

  • After recent updates (Oct '14) can't get IP after boot to MDT

MDT 2013 in VM on Hyper-V host.  2 Deployment Shares.  Has been working w/out issue until today.
Just applied the updates to all my servers and office PCs for this month's updates.  Now when I boot to network and connect to MDT, the wizard pops up with the usual credential request.  I enter my credentials and it states it can't authenticate
my credentials.  When I exit the wizard, I check the IP and it is a generic 192.168...which explains why I can't log in w/my credentials as it looks as if it looses the IP it initially had when it was able to communicate with MDT to start the imaging
    process.
When I boot the PC normally, I have a domain IP and have no issues.  When I boot the PC to network and select the appropriate Deployment Share, it shows it is connected to the MDT server as it loads the wizard...it's just after that, that it seems to
    lose its DHCP IP.
Anyone else experience this yet?  I don't know where to start to look on which update is causing this.  Whether it be on the PDC, the MDT server (VM), the Hyper-V server that hosts the VM, or the PC...
***Update:  I even gave it a static IP at the beginning of the wizard and it still comes up with "Invalid credentials:  The network path was not found".
***Just checked ipconfig after this last fail and for some reason the subnet mask isn't entered correctly like I entered it...it shows 255.255.0.0 instead of 255.255.255.0...???  Also...the connection-specific DNS suffix is correct...and default gateway
are correct...but it also did not take the static IP that I assigned it...it has "autoconfiguration IPv4 address...169.254.223.42" which is not what I gave it...

OK...figured it out...this is weird.  I have IPv6 disabled on all my internal servers.  I enable IPv6 and now I can authenticate...
The thing that tipped me off about it was that when I was trying to give it a static IP from w/in the MDT wizard, it was showing the IPv6 address and then saying autoassigned IPv4 with something that I did not give it.  So I enabled IPv6 on the MDT
server's NIC and then booted the PC "normal" and I was able to authenticate...

  • Can't get ibook to boot from external harddrive when hitting option key

    Hello,
After owning a Pismo Powerbook that had it's hardrive replaced --twice--, i'm all about backing my shtuff up for my ibook.
I picked up a Lacie d2 external harddrive today, and used Disk Utility's Restore function to copy everything from the ibook to the drive. I can boot off the Lacie without a problem when I select it as the startup disk from sys preferences.
But I can't get it to boot from the Lacie when I depress the Option key while rebooting or starting.
    any suggestions?
    ibook g4 933   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Let's be sure  you are doing it correctly:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.  Select the desired boot drive (you will have to wait about 20 seconds before you can make the selection) then click on the large right arrow button.  If this is what you are doing and it does not work, then you may need to re-prep the external drive and re-clone.
    1.  Boot from your Tiger DVD. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button, then select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
After the above re-clone as follows:
    1. Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
    2. Select the startup volume from the left side list.
    3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
    4. Drag the startup volume to the Source entry field.
    5. Select the backup volume from the leftside list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
    6. Check the box to Erase Destination.  Skip this step if you've already formatted the drive.
    7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.

  • Can't get Powerbook to boot up...

I have a powerbook 15" that I purchased in 2005; I usually have it in sleep mode last and when I went to use it last night, I noticed that the light in the front wasn't flickering on and off. I tried to power it up using the on/off button, but that didn't work either, so I don't know what's going on. Can't get it to boot up no matter how long I hold the power button. Any suggestions?

    Hi Emilio,
If the suggestion that you received from Philo2 doesn't solve the problem, you might try holding down the start button for ten seconds. Wait a few seconds then try to start it again.
Sometimes these PowerBooks go into deep sleep and don't respond to anything but a new startup.

    Hi tania184,
Have you contacted your email provider to make sure there are no problems on their end? If they say their email servers are working properly, check the outgoing and incoming mail servers entries on your iPhone to make sure both are entered correctly. Enter the outgoing mail server even if the account setup indicates that is optional.

  • Can not get microphone after privacy on ipad 2 on ios 7, Can not get microphone after privacy on ipad 2 on ios 7

Can not get microphone after privacy on ipad 2 on upgrade iOS 702 . What can i doe ? Thans

The above helped me find this solution:
    do the following steps:
General > Restrictions > [scroll down to ] PRIVACY: > Microphone > Allow changes
Not: Settings > Privacy > Microphone
If you are installing an app like Soundhound, you will have to delete it then just reinstall it. The app then will ask you if it is "OK" to use the microphone. Push "yes". Then go back to the Settings app and follow the chain:
Settings > Privacy > Microphone > SoundHound   push tab to the right until it turns green and you are set.

  • Can I get job after doing Oracle certification at this age?

    Hi
I am 37 yrs old man from Calcutta,India. I am presently jobless for 3 years now .I am a BSc(PCM) .   I was earlier working as a salesman in a sales based company. I have no experience in IT though I have done lots of IT courses. Can I get job after doing Oracle certification at this age?
    Please advice.

Can I get job after doing Oracle certification at this age?
Can you get a job if you become certified in Oracle?  Certainly!
Will you get a job if you become certified in Oracle?  Who knows?
Professional certifications are not magic wands.  You cannot wave a certificate and cause employers to come running to hire you. Certifications can help you to learn some of the skills required to administer Oracle, or develop in Oracle, or use various Oracle software products. There are companies that need people with this knowledge. I have written a number of articles about the topic:

  • Can't get RAID to boot... simple fix?

    Hey everyone,
Just got my K8N Neo Plat with 3200 CG Clawhammer.
Got RAID set up and XP Pro SP1 installed okay, but now I can't get Windows to boot.
    FIRST BOOT DEVICE:  HARD DRIVE
    SECOND BOOT DEVICE:  FLOPPY
    THIRD BOOT DEVICE: CD-ROM
IDE RAID: ENABLED (with all appropriate ports and SATA channels as well)
When I select BOOT LIST - F11 from POST screen, I can select Hard Drive, but then it also gives me an additional menu where it displays my two Seagate Barraccuda's individually, and then my RAID.  When I select the RAID from this list, it's fine, and XP boots.  When I restart and boot normally, however, it's like it's trying to boot off of my striped drives individually, and I get "A disk-read error occurred. Press ctrl+alt+del to restart" at the IRQ/Verifiying DMI Resources screen.
I can't find this hard drive sub-menu that allows me to boot my RAID in the BIOS when I select my boot devices.  How can I fix this?
    Thanks,
    Odie

To get the drive to eject. reboot while holding the mouse key down.
Did the DVD drive work normally, prior to erasing the hard drive? If so, is the OS X DVD (the original gray-faced OS X disk that came with the macine or a black-faced retail disk) visibly damaged? Are you trying to boot the second DVD instead of the first one (if the gray-faced one)?

I assume you're running nm-applet --sm-disable once you get a window manager session up?
Try starting networkmanager after hal. From the wiki:
You must also "disable" the default network daemon, and add the hal, dhcdbd and networkmanager daemons in this order:
    DAEMONS=( ... !network hal dhcdbd networkmanager ... )

  • [SOLVED] Can't get CUPS to add / detect HP Laserjet 1100 printer

I moved my computer downstairs... after a few weeks I decided to move my printer down and set it up. I had it working perfectly a few weeks ago before the move... however now I can't get CUPS to detect or add my printer. At first when I moved my printer downstairs the CUPS web interface had my previous setup still there and had my printer detected / added. However, printing jobs would just stay in the queue and never print. I did some googling and someone mention to remove the printer and re-add it. Well I tried to to that and got stuck on trying to re-add it. CUPS will not identify my printer now. Funny thing is I just now remember I had a similiar issue a few months back and I remembered now I fixed the queue issue just by unplugging the power to my printer and leaving it off for 5min then replugging it in. I have tried all the steps on the wiki and I can't seem to figure this one out. dmesg does output that it is detecting my printer. I have my printer hooked up via a mini parralel to USB cord. If you have any other questions for me please shoot
Unplugging and repluggin my printer gives me this msg in dmesg:
    usblp0: removed
usb 6-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4
usb 6-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
    usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 4 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x4348 pid 0x5584
hp-toolbox also does not detect any printers. I have tried restarting cupsd... Any help is appreciated... I need to get printing up ASAP since school has started.
lsusb output this amongst other things:
Bus 006 Device 004: ID 4348:5584 WinChipHead CH34x printer adapter cable
If it matters I am using XFCE as my DE... I also do not remember using the CUPS interface to intially add the printer... I do not exactly remember how I did it... but the web interface looked completely new to me and I am rather sure that is not how I initially went about doing it... perhaps I used some GUI frontend for it...
EDIT: After reading the forum descriptions closer... perhaps this should be moved to the Workstation section.

skottish wrote:I'm curious why you're using gutenprint drivers for a HP printer. hplip provides everything needed for HP printers.
Tell you the truth... I have no idea how to change it or what not... I didn't even add that manually... just rebooted my computer one day and it appeared there.
hpsetup does not detect my printer
system-config-printer gives me an error when I try and add a printer. I manually specify the location to file:/dev/usb/lp0 ... I scroll down find HP LaserJet 1100 and the recommended driver is hpjis 3.9.8. I select that and I get the following:
There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-not-possible'
EDIT: I am about ready to chunk to this printer out the window... I have been messing with this for about a week now and I just keep getting two steps forward and then three steps backwards.
The system-config-printer dialog looked familiar and I believe that when I intially was able to set up my printer and had it working upstairs I used that dialog to add my printer.
Some googling brought me to this ubuntu bug report
Your USB-to-parallel adapter does not pass through the printer ID. The device is recognized as printer, but there is no information about manufacturer and model. Therefore system-config-printer and hal-cups-utils automatically assign the text-only printer to the unknown device.
In general you have to run system-config-printer and manually choose manufacturer and model.
That you cannot print at all is a bug of the "hal" CUPS backend. See
    https://fedorahosted.org/hal-cups-utils/ticket/5
    Try to do the following:
    cupsctl FileDevice=yes
    lpadmin -p <your print queue name> -E -v file:/dev/usb/lp0
This is an ugly workaround which works if you have only one printer (the one with the adapter cable) on USB. Does it work for you?
Now the problem is that I can not add my printer via the system-config-printer. However, if I go the CUPS web interface and hit manage printers the driver is listed as the following:
    Driver:    Local Raw Printer (grayscale)
Now I think that is my issue... I need to have it set to the correct driver... if I hit modify printer and select my Make/Model I get the following access error:
    401 Unauthorized
Enter your username and password or the root username and password to access this page. If you are using Kerberos authentication, make sure you have a valid Kerberos ticket.
However there is no prompt or I do not know where to enter this information to.

  • SOLVED: Can't get CM 1015 printer to scan: where is the "HP Solution Center" ?

    Hi,
    I have a HP cm1015 printer.
Recently win8.1 was installed, and I had to reinstall the printer.
I downloaded drivers from the hp site, but I can't get the printer to scan.
It prints, and copies ok, but scanning doesn't work.
    What is unclear:
If I go to the download driver page, I can download 4 different kind of drivers.
    I can choose between :
    Driver - Universal print Driver
    - for windows PCL6
    - For Windows Postscript
    - for windows PLC5
    Software - Universal Print driver
    - HP Printer administrator resource kit.
    I chose
    - for windows PCL6
The "HP Printer administrator resource kit.": are all different files. Don't know what to do with it.
To scan I should be able to get into the "HP solution Center", according to the manual.
However, after downloading and installing the "windows PCL6" driver, I don't see that center on my PC.
So how do I get the HP solution center ?
    Thx!
    Solution: http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03506225

Problem 1: HP Solution Cntr could not detect any devices and closed down
Solution???  I downloaded, uninstalled and re-installed the driver  successfully.....but could not "add the device" in the last step even if I followed the instructions carefully:  a) make sure device is powered on
                                                                                                              b) connect USB cable
Per Control Panel, printer is "ready" but does not print.
Problem 2: My HP Solution Center disappeared.  How do I re-establish connection?
