Your mirrors are not up to date as I have no problem
[karol@black ~]$ sudo pacman -S wine

You can download wine from http://www.archlinux.org/packages/commu … /download/ but you need to make sure you have all the dependencies.
pacman uses the first mirror from the list, so that mirror is probably outdated.
BTW, why are you using 32-bit Arch? Maybe 64-bit would be better - you seem to have a nice new computer.

There is no option on bios for SATA support or IDE
    please help me

    Hey buddy
You will not find any SATA or IDE settings in the BIOS. The problem is that you have not installed the SATA driver which is necessary to install the XP on this notebook.
The key is Intel Matrix Storage Manger!
The Storage Manager has to be included into the Windows XP OS during the setup procedure using the button F6.
At the other hand you could include the Storage Manger using the free application called nLite.
Search a little bit in this forum. There are enough threads and postings regarding this theme.

Are you trying to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7? I get exactly the same problem. I'm going to try the 32bit version and see how I get on. I don't think 64 bit is supported just yet.

can't install win 7 iso file
went in the bios to set cd/dvd first, didn't work

Have you properly created the Windows disk from the iso?
You do not simply copy the iso to disk, if that is what you did

  • Can I install win 8 64 bit OS on dv6936 laptop win vista 64 bit OS

Can I install my hp Pavilion 500 PC win 8 64 bit OS on my hp pavillion dv6936 laptop win vista 64 bit OS

    Hi Ibdman,
You cannot use the Pavilion 500 desktop recovery disks to upgrade the operating system on your HP laptop.
You would have to purchase either: a Win 8 retail upgrade or full install disc to change the operating system on your laptop.
If you are considering upgrading your laptop you should consider Win 7 64 bit instead of Win 8.

  • Can't install Win 7 from USB with Boot Camp - please help

    Hi,
I'm going crazy trying to install Win 7 from a USB using Boot Camp.
I've got a 13" MacBook (Aluminum) with 6GB RAM (trying to get to 8GB, but that's a different issue), 500GB HDD, running 10.7.4.
In the Boot Camp Assistant I want to partition 60GB for the Win 7 drive, but when I click install I get the error: "The installer disc could not be found.  Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for it to be recognized."  However, the USB drive that I used Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool in Win XP to create is plugged in.  I also have the .iso file on my Mac desktop.
Googling hasn't produced any solution that I can work - most seem to be using Boot Camp assistant 3.0, and I've got 4.0.3 running.
I'd appreciate help, particularly step-by-step instructions that I could follow.
    Thanks in advance.

Lion has been out and most threads here deal with 10.7. and BCA 4.0.x
There are problems with burning ISO to DVD etc at anything other than slowest burn speed (2x)
New 2012 models don't have an internal DVD but if you do, then yours does not support a USB-DVD.
So you are running XP now and have Windows XP partition? knowing that the update will need 40GB and that Lion does not support XP.
Look at the other posts I made this morning for some of the FAQ Boot Camp support links.

  • Can't install Win 8 - Satellite Pro C660 does not detect HDD

    Hello,
My HDD has died, so i decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro C660-1D9 to an SSD.
I made a bootable USB with Win8, and booted just fine.
The problem is that it does not detect my SSD so i can proceed with the install.
SSD shows up in BIOS, but not in Windows install.
It says there's a driver missing.
I downloaded AHCI drivers (XP, only ones available) and even then, after selecting the only driver that appears, it says no new devices found.
I tried changing SATA mode from AHCI to Compatibility mode and it's the same..
    What can i do?
    Thanks for the help.
    Best regards,
    Bruno Moreira

Older Windows XP required an AHCI driver from Intel but I think this isnt a missing SATA driver issue because as far as I know Windows 8 as well as Win 8.1 already contains the drivers in order to recognize the HDD or SSD drive.
Furthermore the OS installation should be possible even if the driver would not be added... for this procedure you have to use the "compatibility mode".
As you said, the compatibility mode did not work too, so I think there is another problem.
However, Toshiba driver page provides also an Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) driver (Windows 8 - Upgrade) which you could try to add while OS installation.
But Im wondering if you would be able to install this Win 8 on common SATA HDD.
Did you try to format the SSD drive using another computer and then to install Win 8?
    Try it out.

Support for Windows XP has ended. It is highly unlikely there are Windows XP hardware drivers available for your HP laptop. You need to stay with Windows
    7.

  • Can't install win 8 x64 on SSD partition on MacBook Pro

I have a MacBook Pro with a 512gb SSD drive and I'm trying to use Bootcamp to install windows 8 off a flash drive to half of the SSD partition. When I get to the windows installation screen after reboot, it tells me I can't install to that partition that Bootcamp created and that my hardware might not support booting aff that partition. I tried deleting it and reformatting it but that didn't work.
Does anyone know a workaround for this?

How did you create the Bootcamp partition and how did you delete it in your attempts to install Windows?

  • [SOLVED] How to install wine on x86_64

    Hey guys!
I have been wanting to install wine on my 64-bit computer, but I am having a problem. On the wiki it says that all I need to type in is:
    pacman -S wine
and the constantly updated community repository will have it, but every time I try it says that it does not exist. I looked through the AUR and Im not sure which package to install for wine. Help would be much appreciated! Thank You!

Cool, I looked at this and found out it wasn't the mirror, I just haven't updated the lists. Once I did It found the wine package! Thank You for your quick response!

  • Can't Install Win 7 with BOOTCAMP

Hi, I am trying to install win 7 ultimate on my 10.8.2 iMac using Bootcamp 5.0. I keep getting an error message saying the installer disc could not be found. I am using original windows installation disc. Never had this problem before with earlier versions of Mac OS and Bootcamp with the same windows installation disc.
    Any ideas?

Assuming your model is MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011) - Technical Specifications or MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) - Technical Specifications, go to Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows operating systems - Apple Support and download the appropriate drivers for the OS you want to install. It should also have the nVidia MCP drivers.

  • Satellite A300-1G2 can't install Win Xp - missing HDD

    Hello,
I have just bought a new Satellite A300-1G2 without an operating system. Now I would like to install Win XP, however during instalation I receive a message that says that windows setup cannot find any hard drives installed on the system. What could be the problem?

I'm not sure whether what I'm going to write here is correct or not (oops) because I never did some of these stuff myself. To install XP I put my hard drive in compatibility mode just like you did and so far my XP works fine. BUT my install CD was a weird one so I cannot guarantee that this is the case for all others.
Apparently to put it back on the SATA AHCI mode you need to install a driver or software (sorry about being ambiguous but I decided to stick to using XP in the compatibility mode) called Matrix something. I'm sure there are hundreds of other threads on this issue so it's best for you to check them again and get some more correct information.
If you don't that and change your bios to SATA AHCI mode you'll get those horrible blue screens... That's as far as I know. Hope that helps

  • Can't Install Win 8.1 Pro 64bit

    Hi Guys,
I just purchase Win 8.1 Pro from the Microsoft Store (AUS). I have created a live usb (selected from the  windows setup options) so that I could do a clean install of the OS on my laptop.
Each time that I have installed the OS (both clean or upgrade) it automatically installs the 32bit version. When I purchased the OS, it did not specify whether it was bit-specific, so I assumed it would include both bit versions, with an option to select
    during the installation process.
I know my laptop is capable of running 64bit environment as my previous OS was Win 7 Ult 64bit.
Does anyone know what to do to either force the setup into installing 64bit, or any other method to get 64bit installed.
    Cheers...

My understanding is that the download from Microsoft will be the same bitness as the OS you were running when you downloaded it.
I don't recall the mechanism, but I do believe with a little elbow grease it's possible to get a 64 bit Windows 8.1 download, as I recall reading another forum thread where someone had the same issue and ultimately solved it.  Do some searching for
forum posts on this same subject; I'll bet you can turn up the information.
I wish I'd been able to help you more directly, but don't lose hope.
