[solved] Can't set up an email account

Hello, I'm relatively new to the BlackBerry world, but so far it's been a great experience and I'm definitely thinking of staying with the BlackBerry brand. However, today I'm trying to add an email account to my 8520, but in Email setup there's only one option - to use Enterprise Server. I don't want to use that just yet. Can I simply add an email account, without BES?
If it's provider related, I'm with T-Mobile in the Czech Republic.
Thanks for your answers.
Edit: Received the answer elsewhere - need a BIS plan.

First do you have a data plan with your carrier? Please list your carrier so I can give you more info.
Go to options>advanced options> Host routing Table>click to enter>menu key> select register now. You will get a verification message if correctly setup.
1) Open the browser>menu key>options> browser configuration, in Browser Identification select BlackBerry
there is actually no option on the phone itself to create an email account only a business one.
Should be listed in email settings. did you go through the setup wizard?
i've tried doing it from my computer but it said my device is not registered with the wireless service provider, so I followed these instructions to do that and it just says it again!
Do you have a login and password for the website? again send the carriers name.
Thanks,

  • Can I set up an email account in Mac mail if it already exists in mac for outlook?

Can I set up an email account in mac mail if it already exists in mac outlook or do I need to delete the outlook account first? I have tried to set it up and its not working.

Mail and Outlook are two different applications, so you can maintain the same account in both, incl sending and receiving.
What matters is that the setup is correct. E.g., is it a POP3 or IMAP account? By default, IMAP stores all mails on the (ISP's) server, while POP3 usually deletes it there after it's been received. So, with IMAP you'd easily have your mails everywhere, in every client, while with POP3 it's only in the client which you used most recently, so to speak.

    Hello!
To use the proprietary BB services (including Push email capability, BBM, etc.), you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a Push-email enabled BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), your BB-proprietary services will function (e.g., you will have Personal/Internet Email added to the email setup wizard, your BBM will function, etc).
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
    Good luck!

  • How can I set up 2 email accounts in Mail

    It's me again.
I'm trying to set up Mail 2.1.3. in 10.4.11. I have 2 email accounts. I can enter one just fine but it won't take another. When I try, it says that I "already have a POP account". How do I set up 2 email accounts? I see where I can enter the 2 email addresses by separating them by a comma. But the 2 addresses have different passwords and the password box takes only one password at a time. Any ideas?

It's hard for me to tell by what has been written so far, but it may be referring to what you are entering for the account description. That is, in Mail Prefs > Accounts > Acct Info, for each account it has several entries: Acct Type (that you can't change), Description, email address, full name. If the first account's description is POP, then make the second account's description POP2. I use terms like, "home", "work", and "school" for my accounts' descriptions.
If this is not what is going on, please write down every step you do, and every entry you make, as you try to configure your second email account and post it back here. Naturally, do NOT disclose your actual email address(es) or mail account login name or its password to us here.

  • Can i set up two emails accounts on the mail function tab and switch between them

I would like to be able to set up two email accounts on the mail tab on the Iphone 5 and switch between them, is this possible?

Yes it is possible to set up multiple accounts but you cannot switch between them in the mail app.  What you can do in settings/mail etc is have one set as active an dthe other as inactive and you can change that from time to time if you want

  • I can't set up my email account on my ipod touch.  It keeps saying that I have to use a valid email address for this account

I can't set up my email on my ipod touch.  It keeps saying I have to use a valid email address for this account.  Help!

    Hi Annie,
Make sure when you are setting up your e-mail account that you enter in your entire e-mail address.  If you have a Yahoo (includes any e-mail account associated with Yahoo), G-mail, or Aol after entering in your password it should automatically set up.  Any other e-mail address you will have to manually set the account up.

If so, does your employer allow accessing a company exchange account on an iPhone and other iOS devices?

  • Can i set  the same email account as POP on MacBook and IMAP on iPhone and iPad?

I got an email account which is currently POP, it was setup on my MacBook, iPhone and iPad. Since POP cannot sync the read email, every time i have to read them on three devices - MacBook, iPhone and iPad, or it shows loads of unread mails.
I heard IMAP can solve this problem, but after set the email account up as IMAP, loads of my emails lost! Luckily most of those emails are restored from Time Machine. IMAP is too dangerous, so i changed back to POP.
Now i'm still surffering from read emails three times, i wonder anyway to fix this problem? can i set the email account as POP on MacBook and IMAP on iPhone and iPad?
    Many thanks,
    X

Normally, at least all smartphones I've used, do not delete things from the server. The Email programs on phones know enough not to delete emails you delete on the phone from the email server so you can still get them on your computer. I personally don't need or want all my emails on my phone. It is good to check emails and reply it ones that need a reply right then but otherwise I want them on my computers. Using IMAP on phone/pad may not act the same as POP and may interact with the server differently, deleting email I don't want on my phone from the server.
I do have one IMAP email address on my phone, Google with Google Mail. All others access the servers with POP.

  • How can I set up multiple email accounts in one folder in Thunderbird?

    Hello; first time poster here.
I own a business that has several email accounts. I am trying to create a folder (titled my business name), then set up all of the email accounts for my business so they all are in that one folder. I have tried for two days to figure this out and can't seem to do it.
I have been using Outlook, but it has too many whistles and bells and is way to slow, so I thought I'd give TB a try.
Can anyone explain IF this is possible, and if so, how can I do it?
Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

  • Can't set up IMAP email account

I want to set up a new IMAP account in Mail on my iMac. I had no problem doing this on the Mac Mini, Mac Air or iPhone. When attempting the setup on the iMac, there seems not to be an option to select the email account type (i.e. POP3, IMAP or Exchange), as there was on the other devices. Instead, after entering the Full Name, Email Address and Password into the Add Account box, Mail searches for the account, connects to the mail server and adds it as an Exchange account, bypassing the setup steps for each of the incoming and outgoing servers. How can I overcome this and set the account up as IMAP?

This is perplexing, if only because I have Gmail added as IMAP on all devices, and as mentioned, the new IMAP account added nicely on the other devices.
At the first screen in your post hold the option key down, Continue will change to Create, you can choose the correct type of account then.
And I just noticed that you are using Outlook.com email, Imap is not supported by that provider, currently only pop works (on Your Mac)

  • Can't set up own email account on BB Bold 9000.

Hi there, had a quick query don't know if anyone will be able to help me.
My sister got a BB Bold 9000 upgrade and passed it on to me. I've been trying to get emails from my own email accounts delivered straight to my phone (did this before with the same SIM card I am using, on my Nokia 5800 and it worked perfectly). However, my screen is not showing the right screen when I go to Email Setup.
    Instead of giving me the option to add an email account, it only gives me the following option;
'I want to use a work email account with a BB Enterprise Server'.
Obviously this isn't what I want to do, can't find help anywhere and wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to how to sort this out?
    Thanks.

Greetings, and welcome to the BlackBerry.com Support Forums.
Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

  • Can't set up second email account

Hi: I have two email accounts - university and personal. The personal is a POP account and I use yet another email account for SMTP it it doesn't block Port 25 - suppose I could use gmail for outgoing. Everyting works as it should for it is plain vanilla and I don't have need for Push.
Then try to set up the second email account which is IMAP. The first few times it likes my IMAP account part but didn't like my SMTP for I forget to insert the correct SMTP password. Hadn't remembered that PB thinks it will be the same password for both. Finally got it all sorted and hit save. The little green circle goes around for ever and no account gets set up. Switched off, restared the PB and tried again without mistakes this time!
    Little green circle forever. Sigh.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks.

  • Can I set up two email accounts?

I have set up my Gmail account in Firefox. I now wish to set up a different Gmail account which I use for community purposes. Can I have more than one account in Firefox, as I had in MS Outlook?

Use Private Browsing as a workaround
    * [[Private Browsing - Browse the web without saving information about the sites you visit]]
Whether you are permitted to have more than one Gmail account is down to Google and the T&C of their services. That is totally outside the scope of this forum.
What you may be trying to discover is how to open two different webmail accounts for use and viewing simultaneously in Firefox
Consider though the situation where two separate users have gmail accounts or other webmail accounts and use the same Firefox instance. That is not really something to be recommended, but maybe say husband and wife or a pair of siblings use the same Firefox instance. (So they share the same profile, same bookmarks same cookies etc).
In such a case it would probably not ordinarily be possible to keep two separate webmail accounts open in Firefox. The solution is to open the second webmail account in a Private Browsing Window with any luck that would work and keep the two accounts page's separated
