[SOLVED]Cannot copy/cut/paste files in Konqueror

Hi all, I am using KDE4.1.2 (official version). My konqueror cannot copy/cut/paste files in 'file manager' mode, the copy/cut/paste items in the right click menu are always faded out, and C-x/C-c/C-v hotkeys do not work either. However, it can read/write/rename/delete files normally. In fact, 'Move to' and 'Copy to' menu works too. Meanwhile, dolphin does not have this problem. I am a little confused.:mad:

I'm using kdemod, konqueror 4.1.4 in i686, and the paste is always greyed out (same happens with the button in the taskbar). The "copy" action seems to be enabled through ctrl-c and the right-click, but there is no way to say, because no paste can be done. Deleting files works, so it does not seem to be related to permissions.

I installed konq-plugins, but it did not help. The paste is also greyed out in dolphin.
I wonder if anyone is having this same issue? I thought this was solved in 4.1.3

The user has modify rights, and on other files it works fine. She can save and do everything with the file except copy and then past to another tab in the same file or a new one. Or anywhere.
We tried the file with a different user from the same department and there it does work.
I tried to disable the X-com plugins and disable OVF for performance also. Nothing works...anybody knows maybe what the issue might be ?
The file is on a network drive on a domain and does work on another user to copy and paste. I have not let her log in with the same user account n test it on a different system so I asked and will get a update soon. There are no error messages the
paste option is greyed out.

How about the issue now, is it solved?
This issue might be caused by her user profile. What the result would be if using another user account to log on her computer to test this issue.
Also do you have the same problem when you open excel in Safe Mode?
Try opening Excel without any Add-ins or hidden workbooks:
Press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the excel program.

CANNOT COPY AND PASTE

I use a lenovo thinkpad E530. It came with windows 7 professional. Recently i experienced a BSOD and had to format it to solve the problem. I installed all the drivers from lenovo and pc working ok however i cannot copy and paste any item within my pc and to a secondary storage device. I can only copy and paste using winzip then extract the zip files to where i want. Kindly assist me with this problem. I have tried running diagnostic tests using microsoft tools but they cannot find any problem with my PC. Registry scans aswell cannot solve my problem. I have as well installed and reinstal windows 7 a couple of times but the problem still persists!

How is the secondary device connected to the computer? Is it an external drive connected to the computer, another computer, thru the network, or is it connected to your router?

Thanks for you suggestion but it didn't work - are there other ways for solving this problem? Or is it because my files that I want to copy and paste onto my hard disk etc are too big? (However there is space on my hard disk and it works on a PC)

Mountain Lion - cannot copy and paste in finder

Hey,
     I've only just noticed this today and I've done a search but can't find anything so far to help me. I upgraded from lion to mountain lion the day after it was released, not fresh install, upgrade. Basically... I cannot copy files using either cmd+c / cmd+v or using the finder edit->copy / edit-> paste menu. They aren't greyed out. Everytime I try I get the error "The operation can't be completed because you don't have permission to access some of the items.".
This will happen even with a newly created folder. I can delete files. I can create files. I can drag files in finder without issue but I cannot copy and paste. I'm guessing there are permission issues going on but I don't know where to start.
Repairing permissions didn't help (I kinda didn't think it would given it only works on system files but thought it worth a go).
This is an example of the file permissions assigned to a screen grab on my desktop:

Hey, I was really loathed to try reinstalling the OS and something told me that I'd I can drag and drop but not copy and paste there had to be something interfering with the clipboard.
I disabled Alfred and its clipboard history feature (http://www.alfredapp.com/) and rebooted. Amazingly this fixed my issue. I'm going to email the author in the morning to give them a heads up about this.

Cannot copy and paste a slideshow- and what is an Album?

I have created a slideshow in a folder called MISC. I think it is a "slideshow" because the icon looks like a 35mm slide.
I want to copy this slide show and move it to a folder called 2007.
No matter what I do, I cannot copy and paste it. Once a slide show is created in a folder, are you now longer able to move it?
also, what is an album and when would i start one. What is the purpose of an Album?

Is this in the iPhoto Window? Drag and drop.
An album is an collection of photos. You might gather them together because you want to have all your photos of your dog in one place, quite independent of when they were taken. OF you can make a Smart Album based on any of the criteria you can discover by using the File -> New Smart Album command.
The core difference between an album and an Event is that a photo can be in 100 albums and not take up any extra disk space whereas it cannot be in more than one Event without duplicating files.

First you need to open song info copy from or paste to the artwork box. It won't work with right click, you need to use the short cuts "cmd C" for copy and "cmd V' for paste.

Microsoft excel cannot copy and paste from one excel doc to another one

I have a user that is on a Windows 7 64-bit machine and he has to different instances of excel open and coping information from one excel file to the other one. He can do it once and then when he tries to do it again excel says, "Microsoft cannot Copy and
Paste."
I have tried to repair the install, that worked for a few days.
Tried uninstalling Office suite and then re-installing Office suite.
I reformatted the computer and did a fresh install of windows 7 and Office suite and today it started again.
I need to get a fix for this as soon as possible.

As far as I know, if you have Skype installed in your computer, the clipboard will be influenced.

Can't copy and paste files using RDP session in server 2012

I'm running windows 8, but I have also verified on a windows 7 machine as well. We have server 2012 installed on a machine
I use remote desktop to get into. I cannot copy files from my local pc and use paste to get them to the server. I could do this with server 2008. Is there some setting I have to change or does this not work with server 2012?
FYI, clipboard is checked when I open my remote desktop connection window. If I connect into a win server 2008 r2 machine from the same local machine, I can copy and paste files
just fine.

I believe RDS clipboard redirection should be enabled by default also on Windows Server 2012. Is there perhaps is a Group Policy Object active that is configured to disable Clip Board Redirection? Either on the computer or the user OU. If not:
You did not explicitly state this, but I'm assuming that you are running in Application Mode (meaning you did not install the RD Session Host role) ? If so please check the registry on the Windows Server 2012 destination server and look for:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Winstations\RDP-Tcp\fDisableClip
this should be set to
0, to make allow Clipboard Redirection
Also check the key below:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\Addins\Clip Redirector
This should have:
Name
REG_SZRDPClip
Type
REG_DWORD0x00000003
If you did run the RD Session Host role, and you have done so using a Scenario Based Deployment (Scenario

or you can use PowerShell

I just bought an HP TouchSmart520 PC & am trying to figure out how to copy, cut & paste. Clicking on the R mouse doesn't even have it as an option. Please help!

Have you tried to use the keyboard ?
Hold down the Ctrl key then (a) Pres C for Copy and (b) Press V for Paste
If you wish to you Right click mouse (normally) you have to hightlight the area you want to copy first.

Add restrictions to copy/cut/paste in Excel when a worksheet is protected

I need to be able to select via a macro or some other way the restrictions listed below on copy/cut/paste.  The worksheet will be protected.
The goal is to allow a user to have the capability to type in data or copy-paste-values only in the unlocked cells. I wish to block a user from changing the formatting or pasting a formula in an unlocked cell via copy or
cut and paste. This is necessary to maintain the worksheet/workbook integrity when multiple users have access to it.
1.
Disable cutting from unlocked cells
2.
Allow ONLY copy/paste value from any cell to any unlocked cell.
The user needs to be able to select locked cells.
Ideally, the user can copy-paste-values from that locked cell an an unlocked cell. The ability to copy from the locked cell is not an absolute need but being able to
select the locked cell is very important due to the large size of the worksheet.
The locked cells will have their formulas hidden.

Unfortunately it is not easy; there are lots of individual items to deal with.
You can use Application.OnKey to disable (or repurpose) the key combinations (e.g. Ctrl+X, Ctrl+V, Shift+Del, Shift+Insert ) that you don't want used. Typically you would do this in Workbook_Open and reverse it in Workbook_BeforeClose (and you need to
save the workbook if necessary within Workbook_BeforeClose to prevent the user from cancelling the Save Changes message after your code has done its work).
In Excel 2003 you could use VBA to disable or make invisible the menu items and toolbar buttons that would do actions you didn't want the user to be able to carry out. But in 2007 you have to write XML using the custom UI editor and save it in the
XLSM file. A good site for information on how to work with the ribbon in 2007 is

If you get most of the way there and get stuck on some point, do come back.
It would be good if MS extended the protection model to prevent cut and pasting other than values - it is a common requirement. I will go now and make that suggestion to the developers.

Can't copy and paste files

Why won't my MacBook Pro let me copy and paste files, particularly from my external hard drives (to each other) and (to my computer). They are both new and it shouldn't be a problem.
Please help!

Is it possible that the hard drives, which you said are new, have not been formatted for the mac? If they are formatted NTFS (which is the standard format for new drives) you will only be able to read from the drives, not write...therefore you will not be able to cut and paste.
To check the format of the drive, from the Utilities folder, open the application "Disk Utility". Select the Hard drive from the left side of that app, and then click on the "Partition" tab. Then click on the big Partition block found under "Volume Scheme" and see what it says beside "Format". If it is NTFS, this is your problem.
The best solution if the drives will only be used on the mac is to use the Disk Utility Application and reformat the hard drives by selecting the drive you want to format on the left side of the app, and select the "Partition" tab. Under Volume Scheme select "1 partition" and then for format, select "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Then Click Apply. PLEASE NOTE THAT DOING THIS WILL ERASE EVERYTHING ON THAT HARD DRIVE!!!!
If the drives need to be used on a windows machine as well, you can download and install this plugin for your mac that will make it read and write to NTFS although it will do so slower than a disk formatted for the mac.
