[Solved] Cannot start firefox nor man pages without root acount.

Hi all,
when i try to start firefox with a normal user account, it doesn't start, but if i do sudo firefox
it do starts.
The same happens with the man pages, if i do man ls
returns "no hay ninugna pagina sobre ls", but if i do sudo man ls
the man page appears.
Can anyone offer suggestions? Is there information you need? Thanks in advance.

My current values in /etc/profile.d/mozilla-commons.sh are:
export PATH="${PATH}:/opt/mozilla/bin:/usr/bin"
i added :/usr/bin but there is no change, even if i comment that line, nothing changes
with MANPATH /usr/profile i have
export MANPATH="/usr/man:/usr/X11R6/man"
my manual pages are in /usr/man, but one more time even if i comment that line, nothing changes
sudo man ls -> the man page appears
man ls -> "no hay ninugna pagina sobre ls"
one thing i realized, is that before i made any changes, i try to man as normal user anything on /usr/man subfolders, and that man pages do appear, both sudo and normal user.
but ls vi sudo and other man pages only appear as root.

    i cannot start Firefox with message "YOUR FIREFOX PROFILE CANNOT BE LOADED. IT MAY BE MISSING OR INACCESSIBLE"

    This is usually caused by a problem with the profiles.ini file and the profile marked as Default=1 in this file is no longer present on the hard drive.

  • I cannot start firefox because of a security problem after it crashed. What should I do to fix it?

    I use Vista on my dell inspiron 1721. Firefox closed itself, computer shut itself down, a lot of 'corrupted files' were deleted without my interference, and when Vista finally came back up, Firefox wouldn't start. Nowit says I have to fix the firefox directory. How do I do that? The help page on the profile didn't help me. Thanks, mhixon This started when I was browsing on Drudge report. The popup message said:
    Could not initialize the application's security component. ....
    I could not start firefox again after that.
    How do I update a graphics driver?

    You may need to delete the file secmode.db as well.
    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br />
    See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#w_8-make-a-new-profile
    If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

    I have found similar threads, but all differ from my situation and the solutions suggested do not seem to work for me. Some people suspect PulseAudio to be the culprit, I tried to redirect ALSA to PulseAudio, and that to JACK without any effect. I don't think I use PulseAudio, but then again, I run Gnome, and gnome-settings-daemon seems to depend on it.
    Any suggestions are much appreciated!
    Thank you.

    ids1024 wrote:I believe Gnome starts pulseaudio automatically. I think you can disable it by setting autospawn to "no" in /etc/pulse/client.conf.  The wiki mentions another way to have pulseaudio use jack.
    Hey ids1024,
    thank you for your answer. I am now using PulseAudio (which was indeed installed before, but somehow didn't start at boot), and it works very well, also with JACK - as long as I run jack_control as root. As a normal user, it's the same issue as before. I'm not sure if PulseAudio has anything to do with that at all.
    EDIT: I installed pulseaudio-alsa. Now I can start JACK as non-root user! However, JACK - although it registers with PulseAudio, as shown by pavucontrol -  doesn't output any sound. Unless I'm root, of course.

  • Lost files now cannot start firefox, told it is already running and cannot stop it.How can I reinstall while process is still running?

    I may have deleted files that had firefox running. Cannot find them, they may have been duplicates. When trying to start firefox got message telling me firefox was already running and had to stop the process or restart pc. Tried that numerous times with no result.
    Deleted and reinstall firefox several times and same thing happened.

    Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. If you can start it in Safe Mode, you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].

  • [SOLVED] Cannot start i3/ X Server

    Hi,
    I cannot start my x server or i3 and I have no clue why. My setup is up to date. I am running arch inside vmware and probably there lies the problem.
    I normally start i3 using the .xinitrc ("exec i3") if I login from tty1. Doing this now will throw me back to the login screen.
    If I login from another tty and enter "i3" or "X" or "startx" the VM will hang-up. It does not start the xserver nor can I Ctr+C or switch ttys.
    The particular line where it hangs is "Loading extension GLX". On the last successful login (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) directly after this line would be "LoadModule: vmware".
    So my guess is that it's a vmware issue. But I do not know where to look to track down the source of this error.
    I know, that I didn't give you much information. But I didn't find anything suspicious in my logfiles. So if you need something pasted here, please let me know.

  • [solved] Cannot start X

    Heyas
    Just accomplished the installation of Arch as the 3rd OS on this UEFI latop.
    After the installation, the wifi connection i had set up during installation, didnt work any longer, and wifi-menu was missing dialog
    After pluging the wire back, i could get wifi working with the wpa tools.
    Anyway, about the GUI, i've installed awesome and lxdm, starting either of which fails, but even different that if i'd just start 'X'.
    Starting Awesome:
    awesome :: No display device found
    DISPLAY=:0 awesome :: No display device found
    DISPLAY=:0;export DISPLAY;awesome :: No display device found
    Starting LXDM
    Screen goes black, stays black, goes back to console.
    Starting X:
    Semi-Freeze, doesnt act on CTRL+ALT+F1-6, CTRL-CZQ, CTRL+Shift+Esc, but shuts down properly (or not - seems random) when hitting the power button for 3s+.
    The last dmesg entries, cover BEFORE disk decryption, until nividia drivers are loaded (successfully), and nothing else.
    As i'm coming from a distro where one has not to create each and every config file by oneself, and just reread another thread...
    Do i have to (as in required in/for any way) create a .xinitrc, even when (attempt to be) starting via lxdm or alike?
    Any ideas please?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi ! I come here because I have a trouble since the last update of Mysqld :
    I cannot start the daemon with
    sudo systemctl start mysqld
    I have these problems when i look in journalctl -xn :

    When I try with mysqld, I have

    23:25:30 UTC - mysqld got signal 6 ;
    This could be because you hit a bug. It is also possible that this binary
    or one of the libraries it was linked against is corrupt, improperly built,
    or misconfigured. This error can also be caused by malfunctioning hardware.
    We will try our best to scrape up some info that will hopefully help
    diagnose the problem, but since we have already crashed,
    something is definitely wrong and this may fail.
    key_buffer_size=16777216
    read_buffer_size=262144
    max_used_connections=0
    max_threads=151
    thread_count=0
    connection_count=0
    It is possible that mysqld could use up to
    key_buffer_size + (read_buffer_size + sort_buffer_size)*max_threads = 134074 K bytes of memory
    Hope that's ok; if not, decrease some variables in the equation.

    I juste deleted the files /var/lib/mysqld/ib_logfile0 and /var/lib/mysql/ib_logfile1
    First, I had a problem about the file who is in the future (WTF ?:p) But after, it worked !
    Thanks Anyway !

  • [SOLVED] Cannot start Virtual Network: "out of memory"

    I am attempting to use KVM, Qemu and libvirt to run Windows VM's to test websites in IE. I have gotten everything to work fine except guest to host communication, which obviously is crucial for testing the websites.
    Currently i am using macvtap to setup networking, which works beautifully for everything except host to guest networking. The easiest way seems to be to use isolated virtual networks. However, i cannot start any virtual networks. I have tried from inside virtual manager and inside virsh command prompt. I always get "out of memory". I have googled the error and nobody seems to have this problem.
    One note, I do NOT have a swap drive. Is this needed for virtual networks?
    EDIT:
    I have now tried exactly the same on another, identical computer but with swap drive (16gb) and it did not work there either. Both computers have 8gb ram. Seems to be loads free in tops.

    I have the same issue on my install. I got so desperate that I actually wiped my laptop and reinstalled everything, same problem. Out of memory error when trying to create the default network. 16GB of RAM, with 96% of it free when I attempted.

  • I cannot start Firefox on startup. Here's my crash report: Crash ID: bp-446e3e44-4c7a-4b53-80f0-c6c4c2130724

    Every time I start Firefox, it crashes immediately. I've tried everything and spent a lot of time trying to fix it but couldn't. I uninstalled, delete Mozilla Firefox file, re-installed it and again it crashed and couldn't open.

    You can use one of these to start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u>:
    *On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
    *On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
    *Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

  • How do I start Firefox with Evernote installed without deleting setting?

    I installed Evernote, but not installed Firefox add-on, I mean web-clipper.
    After that, I couldn't launch Firefox.
    I searched in the web about this issue, and I created a new profile, then Firefox started successfully by using the new profile.
    But I want to use my old profile, such as bookmarks, cookies, and so on.
    How do I find where the problem in the profile is, or find where and how to modify or delete a line or file in the profile?

    When you ask firefox to save your main page under General, check there is only ONE link under home page.
    I noticed that Firefox allows multiple home pages to be stored everytime you open a new window.
