[solved] Canonical way to detect what kernels are installed?

Planning to do a PKGBUILD for the nvidia modules which would install modules for all installed kernels (would basically steal the current PKGBUILD but run it separately for every kernel and have the modules installed seperately in each /lib/modules/<kernel_name>. Mainly for personal use, as I don't think it's 'allowable' for the AUR (please correct me if I'm wrong).
Currently I already have one PKGBUILD doing this, for phc-intel, where I basically do:-
for _KERNEL in `ls /lib/modules` ; do
Is this the 'correct' way to detect all installed kernels, or should I sed on the contents of /usr/src?:-
for _KERNEL in `ls /usr/src | sed 's/linux-//'` ; do
Or is there some other FHS-compliant manner of detecting all kernels installed?

Is it safe to remove these? And would your method attempt to install it for these older/no longer installed kernels?
I would think that if you still have 2.6.29-ARCH and 2.6.30-ARCH they would be empty? Or only contain separately compiled modules. Could you please ls the contents, and check whether you have corresponding /usr/src folders.

  • Knowing what Applications are installed

    Hi,
Coming from Windows I find it difficult to find out what applications are installed on my mac. I know I can just look in the Applications folder but I am going to be upgrading to Leopard later this week and before then I would like an easy way of listing and printing off all my currently installed applications so after the Leopard upgrade I can test out what does not work and if there's no Leopard version of an app. I can uninstalled if it's not a necessity.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    HI erugalatha,
Since you are coming from Windows, FYI, where in Windows you use the Control Panel to install or uninstall programs, on a Mac, to delete an application, just drag the application folder to the Trash, then empty the Trash. Simple as that.
Also, here's a link to more information about Universal and Mac downloads:
    Universal and Mac
And, after you install Leopard, always a good idea to run Disk Utility from the Applications/Utilties folder and Repair Disk Permissions. Here is how to do that:
In Disk Utility, select the disk in the list. Click First Aid.
Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions.

  • Is there any way to track what reports are actively running on BOE?

    Good Afternoon.
I am looking for a way to track the names of what reports are currently being run on Business Objects. We are on Business Objects Enterprise XI R2 SP3 and from what Iu2019m aware, the servers can show the administrators how many connections and how many jobs are running, and the auditing command can track when a report has completed/failed (from what I understand), but nothing really tells us what reports are actively being run.
The purpose of this is to measure impact for an emergency restart of the server, track down reports that are taking up system resources, and debugging issues involved with the SDK.
Background: We have several reports hosted on Business Objects, both Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence.  These reports go to different universes and databases and use several different accounts depending on the project (no central generic accounts to the databases).  Sometimes when people are running several large reports (some being upwards of 1 million rows) the users will open one, leave it to run and go to open several others, killing our session limit and resources on the server. In addition, there have been times in development that restarts have been required but there was no way to tell what reports were running, just the number of them, and in several different spots (RAS, Page server, etc.).
Wish list (If my first priority is answered, Iu2019m also looking for the following):
    - One to one associations of what reports are being run by what users.
    - A centralized location to see what reports are being run by users opening them and what reports are being run by users scheduling them.
    - The ability to u201Ckillu201D a report that is taking too long to run by a user.
    - Possibly an interactive dashboard showing the number of active reports verses the serveru2019s limit, what reports are set in queue, etc.
    - The u201Cstageu201D a report is running in, so if someone is running a report but its stuck at the prompt for a variable stage, querying data from the database, getting data back from the database, producing and processing the data to the screen, etc.
If Iu2019ve missed something in the Business Objects tools or if someone knows of a way to extract this type of data from the Business Objects server (3rd party tool or custom fix) I would appreciate the assistance. Thank you for your time.

    Brian,
I don't know if you tried using the Query Builder.
The query below (or some modification of it) may be of some help.
    SELECT
    SI_SCHEDULEINFO, SI_NAME
    FROM
    CI_INFOOBJECTS
    WHERE
    SI_SCHEDULE_STATUS = 1
The SI_SCHEDULEINFO.SI_SUBMITTER property in the query result will give you the BOUSER value of the user that submitted the job.
    SI_SCHEDULE_STATUS takes the following values:
0     The job is currently being processed by the job server.
    1     The job completed successfully.
3     The job failed. Check error message.
    8     The job is paused.
9     The job has not started because dependencies are not satisfied (e.g. Events)

  • Is there a way to see what apple are fixing in next  release of itunes

the problem of defaulting to album view after ripping a cd.
always going back to the first song not where you were last.
the constatnt resizing of the window that chops off the status bar.
and the way  they've messed up  the search. i used it to limit it songs to one artist. but when you do  that it goes to artists view and doesn't stay in the previous view you had. if i am in song view and i use search to limit my songs i do not want to jump to artist album view, i want to stay in song view. it's ridiculous. i don't like it when software thinks it knows what i want to do.
people said don't whine on here, so how do  we find out what  dev are actively looking to fix vs what  they don't care about??
i'm giving itunes one more release, but if there is no improvement i'm switciing to another player. i'm already demoing 3 other ones right now.
the navigation issues make it is simply unusable as a media center for me now.

No, Apple very rarely make advance announcements of bug fixes.
You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
Ctrl-B to turn on the menu bar.
Ctrl-S to turn on the sidebar.
Ctrl-/ to turn on the status bar.
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library for the old search behavior.
Alternatively you roll back to iTunes 10.7. If so, first download a copy of the 32 bit installer or 64 bit installer as appropriate, uninstall iTunes and supporting software, i.e. Apple Application Support & Apple Mobile Device Support. Reboot. Restore the pre-upgrade version of your library database as per the diagram below, then install iTunes 10.7.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to scan the media folder and catch up with any changes made since the backup file was created.
You might also want to use iTunes Feedback.

I use logic pro x software and I was looking at this piece of audio. It's a synth lead and I wanted to create a bass to go with it however it's hard to work out the chords used so I was wondering if there are any add ons or something that can tell me what chords are used in the audio track. Im looking for something kind of like the BMI counter but for chord recognition. Can anyone help me! if not would anyone be able to decipher them for me? thanks

Not that i am aware of.. Not for Audio tracks.. Midi tracks yes, Audio no....
However there are 3rd party apps/websites that might do the job....

At the command line type :
    pkginfo
This will give a list of all packages
You can send this list to a file:
    pkginfo > filename
You can then view the file with text editor or at the command line one screen at a time:
    cat filename | more

  • Is there a way to see what files are linked to what?

I have many images in my image folder in a big site. A number
of them are no longer in use and I need to determine which ones are
not, so I can delete them before handing the site over to my
    client.
Is there some kind of file/link manager that tells you what

If you're familiar with GoLive, it has an In/Out Links
manager, if you select an unopened image file, for example, this
manager shows you all the files that it is linked to. If you select
an HTML file, the manager shows you all the incoming and outgoing
links pertinent to that page. It is indespensible, esp. for finding
    broken links.

  • Is there a way to see what movies are discounted (4.99) in itunes?

Besides the weekly ad banners in itunes displaying any sales, is there an easy way to see which other movies are discounted in itunes?
I've tried a power search, but many of the movies in a particular category have a "view" button in the price column, so they're not sorted by price and
it gets annoying to hit the view button each time.
Also, the limited time 4.99 section has been removed from the ipad version of the store. It used to be found by clicking a button at the bottom of the screen that was there for the .99 movie rental section (whcih is gone as well).

To get notified of new 99 cent movie rentals deals you can follow one of these Twitter accounts and turn on notifications:

  • [SOLVED] How do I find out what packages are installed in a distro?

Okay. I was running Arch before, but GNOME had a bunch of problems that I couldn't fix myself, so I reformatted and went to Peppermint OS (it's a cloud-based system), and I absolutely love it. Now, the thing is, it's even slower than my Arch system was running GNOME, and it's supposed to be super-lightweight and speedy; but aside from that, I found it's a great distro (I think most of the slowdown is because it's based on Ubuntu and Mint). So, my question: how do I find out which packages are in Peppermint OS so I can emulate the basic environment, except with Arch underneath? Thanks, guys!

Okay, I guess an hour of Googling wasn't enough, but I just found a site that tells me how to do it! I'll mark this solved, but for anyone else who wants to know, the info is right here: http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/find-out-i … -in-linux/ It uses dpkg, which I think is only used on Debian-based systems (correct me if I'm wrong) so it may not work for all distros, but it's a start.
