[SOLVED]CLI browser search

I was not sure if this would go in linux discussion or here...so mods, please feel free to move it.
I am looking for a CLI browser that could fit certain needs:
1)Have some basic mouse support. I do not want a browser that says - go figure it out or just sit there staring at the homepage I am showing you, and finally hit exit in disgust. I want to be able to use the mouse to click on links (at least initially) without having to tab a million times
I know CLI browsers are supposed to take you away from the mouse, but I am new to this..so I want it to ease me into it.
2) Use some graphics imaging. -- I am definitely not asking for Flash or Java support. But it should be able to render the images and logos of websites cleanly. If I ever go on a search to find the next best You Tube video, I will use firefox or something else, but If all I want to do is log into the forums and see the threads or read some articles on newspaper websites, I would like to use the CLI browser which would help with not getting all the gazillion blinking/flashing ads around the periphery.
Now, before you go off telling me to lmgtfy...I have researched some browsers like
1) links 2) lynx 3) w3m 4) elinks.
What I am asking is, can they support the above 2 requirements. Which one is better (I know this is subjective)? If you have used any of the above (or even ones that are not listed for that matter), could you tell me your opinion on it?

i read somewhere i don't remember (and can't find it now) that says that one can watch for example youtube videos using links -g and mplayer, it was like an automated "save video to disk and play with mplayer" thing, I WANT IT, lol, so if someone knows how to do that please share im sick of firefox and its choppiness and high cpu usage.
And im looking for a way to replace google reader for rss, because i cant open it in links -g, what are you guys using? i want a lightweight google reader alternative that opens in links -g or that can display images like links -g
and lastly... my search for a light browser will end if i can use the elinks "tabs" in links -g, is there a way to achieve this?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Why does browser.search.intab not appear to function in 8.0 ?

In Release 3.5 browser.search.intab set to 'true' causes a new tab to be opened when you do a toolbar search. That doesn't appear to be the case with 8.0.

A new tab opens up everytime I do a search on my home page, how do I stop this from happening? I've checked the browser.search.openintab and the value is set to FALSE, any ideas?

I just want all my searches to stay on the same tab that I already have open.

The browser.search.openintab pref applies to the (Google) search bar on the Navigation Toolbar and not to search bars on web pages.

I want to clear my browser search history

I am an old guy who has a new toy (Ipad 4) I need to know how to clear my browser search history whenever i go to google to enter a new search, as soon as I put the first letter in the bar, all that I have searched before pops up. It is anoying and i want to stop those pop ups from pevious search entries

Settings->Safari-> Clear History, Clear Cookies and Data. You can also Turn on the Private Browsing feature, so nothing gets saved.

Browse search result does not add up

We are on SES 10g (10.1.8.4). I did some experiments using the Oracle provided search page at http://server:port/search/query/search and the results does not add up for 'browse search'. Say I have a parent node and three child nodes, I do a browse search using the parent as the context, then do the same with the three children. The sum of number of hits from the three children is not equal to the number of hits from the parent.

The problem is that Numbers cannot tell that G8 is in pence and G9 is in pounds.
Either:
Put G8 in pounds (0.969)
or:
Change the formula in G9 to =(G7*G8)/100. This converts pence to pounds.
Don't do both!

I have a macbook from early 2008, and when I sign onto safari I get an error message for fast browser search plugin. After that error comes up my computer freezes and I have to force it to shut down. Does anyone know what that means and how I can fix it

Means you have an incompatible Safari extension installed. Look in the /Home/Library/Safari/Extensions/ folder for the offending plug-in and delete it.

How is "Fast Browser Search" engine PERMANENTLY REMOVED (and I mean wiped), from the search engines that were included by default with recent Mozilla update?

Fast Browser Search (FBS) emgine is now being included in all the Mozilla Updates.
This concerns me because the company that provides it is a known malware distributor.
When Mozilla toolbar "Manage Search Engines" option is selected, I can choose to remove FBS, move FBS to the bottom of the list, move Yahoo to top as preferred, and FBS always comes back when Mozilla is closed & restarted.
If this browser search is used, malware is automatically downloaded onto my computer. My ISP has verified this as fact.
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (mbam) catches malware stemming from "Fast Browser Search" every time I scan.
I want this removed forever. I love using Mozilla, but if this doesn't go, Mozilla will have to go. I'll have to return to IE (which I don't want to do).
I cannot believe that Firefox Mozilla would knowingly include "Fast Browser Search" in their list of browsers installed by default. And setting the configuration for it constantly trump Google or Yahoo, when I move them to preferred, is ridiculous.
If I go the the Fast Browser Search website and follow the uninstall directions, more malware is slapped on my system. I read your recommendation to use that very process in your forum.

Ahh, the toolbar is still on system. I thought ComboFix got it. I think I'll uninstall Mozilla prior to initiating the fix procedures you linked. The extracare service tech support I'm paying Frontier (ISP) isn't worth a lick. After I thought I had removed, I called them and had my system scoured by them. May need to cancel that $14.90/month service...seems to have been a waste.

Browser/ Search window = Larger?

The bottom right window that is the browser/ search window for apple loops . .
How do I make it larger, especially wider?
Is there a floating window option for this?

You can just click the tab and drag it off into its own window, then resize it to your heart's content. Whenever I do this, I tend to lose it somehow, either by closing it or getting it buried behind the main window, so it's handy to note that you can find it under the Tabs subsection of the Window menu. (I think. I'm not actually sitting in front of Soundtrack right now, and am doing this from memory.)

Something called "Fast Browser Search" by Infospace comes up when I type a URL. How do I get rid of this annoyance?

If I type an incomplete URL into Firefox, instead of anticipating what the URL is and going to the site I get this annoying search result page called "Fast Browser Search" by Infospace. I hate this detour! How do I get rid of it?

Uninstalling 'fast browser search tattoons'

My son downloaded and installed something from facebook called Tattoons which installs a fast search search toolbar and who knows what else.
I googled how to uninstall it and the only thing I could find was fast searchs own uninstall steps

(fairly useless and doesn't uninstall everything that was installed is my hunch!)
I followed the mac instructions and that seemed to have worked but I do not trust that everything has been removed.

I'm running safari and also use firefox sometimes. I am afraid to open firefox after reading what the guy in the link above says.
I've looked here on the forums and can't seem to find anything at all on Tattoons or fast browser search.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm having the same problems although I don't remember adding any applications from Facebook but fast search browser has installed itself over my default google search engine. I can't even find this to uninstall can someone help me? Where can I find the uninstaller on my mac? I am using safari. Any ideas will be of great help thank you.

Hi Girish,
I think you basically want to implement all the Browse and Shop pages in ATG application from Endeca.
Couple of steps to follow
1. Create an Endeca Application using DeploymentTemplatePCI
2. Configure your product-sku-output-config.xml to add the required record attributes and dimensions that you would need apart from category and item type dimensions which are provided to you OOTB
3. Perform the baseline update from ATG using ProductCatalogSimpleIndexingAdmin component and check for the indexed records using the Endeca JSP Reference application
4. Create the category and sub-category pages in using Endeca Experience Manager in Work Bench (Eg: /pages/browse, you can show different content to each category by configuring the location)
5. Invoke the page from ATG using InvokeAssemblerDroplet or using the AssemblerPipelineServlet defined in your request handling pipeline.

Why won't my "searchpreview" add-on work from my browser search box since Firefox updated to 3.6.16, but it works when I do it from the Google main page??

Since Firefox updated itself to 3.6.16 earlier today, when I search for anything in my Google search box on the browser, it always used to show me thumbnails when the Google page came up. Now there are no thumbnails appearing, except if I go on the Google main page and search from there, the thumbnails still appear. Whe it updated, the browser automatically searched for incompatability problems with my add-ons but nothing appeared to say Searchpreview was incompatible.

You can modify the pref <b>keyword.URL</b> on the <b>about:config</b> page to use Google's "I'm Feeling Lucky" or Google's "Browse By Name".

Safari quit unexpectedly while using the Fast Browser Search Plugin plug-in

I had an automatic software update a few days ago which was fine but also doing an Itunes update yesterday as I was prompted to do so, I was using version 10 and updated to 10.1 which has also gone wrong as it is saying that my itunes library cannot be read is it was created in a newer version of itunes? as I was updating Im not sure why this is? I could have deleted my old itunes thinking that this was a NEW one? :/

[SOLVED] Cannot browse by hostname - only by IP Address (!)

Hi all,
I have successfully got ALARM running on the previously largely useless GoFlex Home. (It took a while, as the original install didn't work on large partitions, but was successful once the amended recommended partition size was used.)
I've set up a SAMBA share on the SATA Boot disk, and additionally mounted my terabyte USB media drive (so largely fulfilling my needs of extending my media library).
What's puzzling me is that I can only browse by IP Address (192.168.10.2) and although I've assigned it a Static IP address that's work, it won't let me access it by Host Name (default = ALARM).
I can ping/resolve by hostname (Netbios or FQDN), have entered into the local DNS server, and it appears on the Network scanner, NET VIEW and Windows Explorer. However, if I try and access it, it says "\\ALARM is not accessible". Same result on two Win 7 PCs. (One HAD credentials for the device, the other didn't)
However, I just tried another Win 7 PC (the wife's Laptop) and IT can access the thing by name OK!! (It's not in the Domain, the others are, maybe that's the issue?)

OK, solved it myself. (After giving myself the "Domain" clue.)
In the earlier (1Gb Flash drive) scenario, I'd tried to do Kerberos Authentication, which entailed changing the Local Security policies.
This, however, on a Standard (no security) SAMBA setup, caused the authentication problem. Following the following Support article, and then waiting for propogation (GPUpdate /force never really does what you need at workstation level) cleared it all up...
