[SOLVED] Ctrl+Alt+S and Ctrl+Alt+O Blocked by ?

Hi!
On a new arch+gnome system, I cannot bind any command to the Ctrl+Alt+O and Ctrl+Alt+S shortcuts in pycharm.
Going through all the shortcuts in gnomes' Keyboard > Shortcuts and via dconf-editor, I cannot find any program that binds to these shortcuts.
Any advice?

When using xbindkeys -k , I get this for ctrl+alt+s or ctrl+alt+o:
"(Scheme function)"
m:0xc + c:64
Control+Alt + Alt_L
Which is very strange, because it does work correctly for other shortcuts, for example, ctrl+alt+a:
"(Scheme function)"
m:0xc + c:38
Control+Alt + a

  • Problems with the alt key and numbers, please help major issue

    All of a sudden I am unable to use the alt key with any numbers, meaning I can't create hashes (alt 3) and bullets (alt 8), and others that I haven't missed yet. I've tried two keyboards, one wireless and one wired but to no avail. It seems to work fine for everything except 3 through 9.
    I found somebody with the same issue beforehand:
    *I have finally tracked the problem down to a problem preference file, namely this one:*
    com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist
    *I have no idea what it's supposed to do, but it wasn't doing it right.*
    But even still, it made no sense to me, can anybody help me? This is an issue that's been disrupting everything I do on my Mac for a few days now, and not found the issue as yet.

    Feel a bit silly now! Just sorted it myself, had a look around my hard drive, and deleted the com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist file, and restarted, when I started up and tested it my ¡€#¢∞§¶•ªº keyboard alt tab seemed to work!
    For future reference, just do this and restart afterwards:
    [YourHardDrive]>>Users>>[YourUserName]>>>Library>>>Preferences>>>com.apple.symbo lichotkeys.plist>>>Delete that>>>Restart your Mac and you've fixed it.
    Cheers anyway!

    If you like, you could always try a SMC reset and a PRAM/NVRAM reset to see if either of those will get your keyboard back in working order...

  • Being disabled I use sticky keys and since Firefox 28 (even after Reset) the Alt key doesn't work as a sticky key and Ctrl fires twice eg. Ctrl-v copies twice.

    This still happens after upgrading to FF 29.
    I have a 64bit Windows 7 system.
    Initially, it seemed to be OK but after only a few minutes it was back to this behaviour.
    Other symptoms:
    1. When I also have Accessibility Mouse Keys enabled, while typing it automatically switches the default click button to the Right button
    2. Ctrl-t inserts 2 tab pages and Ctrl-w closes two!
    3. everything works fine if used as normal ie. hold the Ctrl or Alt down while pressing the action letter..
    Running in Safe mode with no extensions didn't help neither did using after Reset

    From your System Details, it looks like user.js is currently active in Firefox. The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
    You can delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release. You can get to the profile folder below:
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory > Show Folder
    or
    *Go to '''about:support''' and click Show Folder next to Profile Directory.

  • Hyper-V, RDC, UAC and Ctrl Alt End

    Greetings,
    Got a new computer running Win8.1 Pro. Still adjusting to Win8.1, but thought I'd give Hyper-V a spin so I can "replace" another system that I need to use for remote access to a client system. Be nice to just have one computer to do all my work.
    I've been using two systems to get my work done due to VPN conflicts - my primary work system connects me to work using one vendor's VPN, the remote client system uses a different VPN, and when I've worked on getting the VPNs to place nice together I have
    had little success.
    So I've been using two different, older and lower powered computers to get this done, but now I was thinking I could use Hyper-V to create a VM for accessing my remote client using their VPN without losing my work VPN connection.
    I've got the VM setup and configured, running Win7 Pro (because that's the other license I've got), and the VPN installed on it. I can connect to my work VPN, spin up the VM and connect to the client with their VPN, and RDC to the servers I need to work
    on when I need to work on them. Works great, right up to the point where the client UAC requires Admin elevation for the MMC (or other management type program). Up pops the box that says Press Ctrl-Alt-End to use my entered credentials, which have admin rights,
    to pass the creds on to the program.
    I can't figure out how to get Ctrl-Alt-End to the RDC dialog!
    I'm opening Hyper-V manager, then connecting to the VM on my computer. From the Virtual Machine Connection window, log into the client VPN, fire up RDC and connect to the server (logging in to their domain, etc.). I try to load the program on the client
    server in RDC, the UAC pops up, and - nothing. Hitting Ctrl-Alt-End on my keyboard brings up the lock screen on the Hyper-V connection, it doesn't pass it through to the active RDC session. I've loaded the onscreen keyboard on the remote server, clicked Ctrl
    Alt End, but that doesn't seem to pass into the UAC.
    I've thought - maybe I should configure my VM for remote access, then I can RDC to the VM, then RDC to the client's server, then... but... would that work?
    Suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Steven

    Greetings, Thanks for the reply. I'm not trying to use Ctrl-Alt-Del to clear anything, I'm not trying to use Ctrl-Alt-Del at all. Here's what I'm attempting:
    Fire up a VM, log into the VM, run the customer's VPN
    RDC to the customer's server
    Run the management app on the customer's server that needs elevated privileges
    In the RDC session to the customer's server:
     I get a UAC dialog, asking if "I want to complete this action by entering my credentials on the authentic Windows logon screen" or "I don't want to complete this action"
    I click the first option ("I want to complete...")
    I get a second UAC dialog saying "Press Control+Alt+End" to enter your credentials"
    I'm not able to press Control+Alt+End and have it go to the server in the RDC session, the VM is capturing it first; I HAVE tried it using the onscreen keyboard in the RDC session also without success
    (I took screen caps of the dialogs, but, I've pulled an all-nighter working on another issue and couldn't seem to figure out how to insert them here... doh!)
    So - no Ctrl-Alt-Del
    Next time I need to get to the client's server I'll have to check the settings for keyboard shortcut forwarding. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Firefox freezes all the time, can't do nothing, CTL+ALT+DEL and then cancel and problem is solved for a few seconds, Win7 (64bit)

    When opening firefox, it takes forever before i can do anything. It freezes and I have to use CTRL+ALT+DEL and then press cancel cause it says firefox is running. Problem is solved for a little time.

    Solved
    Guys! i had the same problem before i fixed it. Firefox gets frozen only if you have fully charged your '''Bookmarks(toolbar/menu/unsorted)''' or '''History logs'''.So you should remove all your history logs and decrease the full bookmarks. it did work perfectly on my PC.
    Trust me
    BUUUUUUUUUUUT...
    in case of misfunction, then you should google the issue very deeply.

  • Picture resizing default from cmd+ctrl+shift back to cmd+alt+shift?

    Hi,
    Quick question from a CS5 newbie.
    Is there any way to change the picture resizing default from cmd+ctrl+shift back to the CS4 way of doing things ie. cmd+alt+shift.
    Cmd+alt+shift resizes from the centre of the image in CS5 rather than from the left edge, which is really bugging me! Can't find a way of changing it anywhere.
    Many thanks if anyone can help.

    Oh... Well on that same article that i posted above about Disk Utility, there is a section that outlines how to access Single User Mode. Give that a shot and see if you can do a disk repair.
    Hold: Cmd+S on boot
    Type: /sbin/fsck -fy
    That will start a disk repair
    If you get "** The volume (name_of_volume) appears to be OK" then type "reboot" and see if your system will load
    If: "***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED *****" Then restart the disk repair untill such time as you get the "** The volume (name_of_volume) appears to be OK" message
    Hope this helps!

  • [Solved] Urxvt, vim and ctrl + arrow keys

    I just switched to rxvt-unicode - mostly because of its ability to set the WM_CLASS variable (Xfce's terminal, my previous terminal application, was unable to do so, and I was tired of dragging all my apps to the virtual desktop I wanted to have them on). So far so good, but I bumped into a problem I knew from a previous encounter with urxvt: it maps ctrl+left/right differently than xterm (and Xfce's terminal), and I can't jump words in Vi anymore.
    I have been trying to map them in my ~/.virc to reproduce the behaviour, but that's not working (and I'm clueless why). This is the excerpt from .virc:
    map ^[Oc W
    map ^[Od B
    map! ^[Oc ^[Wa
    map! ^[Od ^[Ba
    Ctrl+Left generates ^[Od, Ctrl+Right generates ^[Oc. Vi will put itself in insert mode (if it isn't already) when i press those combinations and insert a d or c, depending on the combination pressed, but no jumping words.
    Does someone know what I'm doing wrong?

    @ davvil & hbekel: Awesome, I'll try that when I get back home and report .
    skottish wrote:
    The solution that RedHat uses is to modify /etc/inputrc. I assume that means that ~/.inputrc can be used also. These are the two lines that they added in the rxvt section for Ctrl <Right, Left>:
    "\eOc": forward-word
    "\eOd": backward-word
    Skottish, I already have those in my ~/.inputrc. The thing is, I understood /etc/inputrc and ~/.inputrc are used by readline and apps using it, but vim is not one of them. Those sequences make Ctrl+Right/Left work like in xterm and similar terminals (Xfce's terminal e.g.) - you can jump words - but Vim won't pick it up, since it doesn't use readline.

  • [SOLVED] openbox window borders and alt tab

    There are two (atleast) things i'd like to fix in openbox (and lxde). I haven't found any info on it.
    1) Window borders are only one pixel. It's hard to resize windows and very hard with touchpad. I have room for it on a 1400x1050 resolution. On kde I have 6 pixels. How can I widen the borders?
    2) Alt + tab cycles through the windows on the current desktop only. I would like it to cycle through all windows on all desktops. I know I can middleclick on the background, but I'd like to alt tab too. How do I do that?

    For 2 : Add this to your keybindings in rc.xml
    <keybind key="W-Tab">
    <action name="NextWindow">
    <allDesktops>yes</allDesktops>
    </action>
    </keybind>
    <keybind key="W-S-Tab">
    <action name="PreviousWindow">
    <allDesktops>yes</allDesktops>
    </action>
    </keybind>
    This will use the Super+Tab and Super+Shift+Tab to move between windows across all desktops. You can still use Alt+Tab and Alt+Shift+Tab to move between windows within the same desktop

  • The Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down keyboard short cuts don't seem to work anymore. Can we get this back?

    Until the latest update (I'm guessing v 34.x), the search bar's icon would show you the currently selected default search engine. I understand that Google is no longer paying to be the default... That I was expecting and isn't my issue....
    I used to be able to use Ctrl+Up and Ctrl+Down to change the default search engine (maybe default isn't the right term... but it changed what was used when I hit <Enter> or <Alt+Enter>). Now, there's no support for this as far as I can tell.
    This shortcut page (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts-perform-firefox-tasks-quickly) still references it, but it doesn't seem to work.
    As a sort of side note: Where typically, middle clicking on anything opens stuff up in a new tab, that behavior does not seem to carry over when clicking one of the non-default options in the search context menu. I've always appreciated that Firefox was very consistent about respecting the middle click as "do this in a new tab" what seems EVERYWHERE.

    If you start typing a search term then a drop-down list opens.
    You can use the Tab key to select other search engines that show on the bottom bar.
    If you want to restore the previously used standalone window to manage search engines then you can toggle this pref to false with a middle-click on the <b>about:config</b> page.
    *<b>about:config</b> page: <b>browser.search.showOneOffButtons</b> = false
    You need to close and restart Firefox to make this work properly.

  • Control+Alt+mouse and IItemLockData

    Hi list!<br /><br />I have this problem in Indesign CS2.<br /><br />By means of the instructions below I get to lock the text in a box:<br /><br />InterfacePtr<IItemLockData> iTextLockData(refTextModel,IID_IITEMLOCKDATA);<br />iTextLockData->SetInsertLock(TRUE);<br />iTextLockData->SetAttributeLock(TRUE);<br /><br />Everything works OK. I mean, I can't eliminate the text, add it, toolbars <br />appear as disabled,....<br /><br />However, when I press Control+Alt+mouse on the box and I make it bigger, <br />the text makes bigger its size as well, but it shouldn't make that because the text is locked (the same as Quark does). Is this correct or is it a bug from CS2? Or is there another command which makes void the action of modifying text pressing Control+Alt+mouse on the box?<br /><br />Thanks.

    how do you do CtrlAltDelete to sign on on the windows side?
    Assuming that you are talking about bootcamp.
    ctrl-alt-fn-Delete
    or
    alt-ctrl-fn-Delete
    works on my MBP.
