[SOLVED] Delete Chromium App Desktop shortcut in XFce 4.8

I just want to ask how I can delete chromium app shortcut from the xfce menu?
[not the actual chromium icon, but a shortcut of webapp that I created using chromium]
I am using LXDE Menu Editor, because alacarte does not work for me.
LXMED can see and do everything I want apart from the fact that it can't see shortcuts to webapps created by chromium.
Let me put it this way:
I had created an web - desktop shortcut [to grooveshark] using chromium's tools [Menu > Tools > Create Aplication Shortcut...], it created a new entry called 'Grooveshark' under Internet category in my xfce menu, which I now want to delete.
How can I do that?
I was thinking about .desktop files, but since LXMED cannot see this shortcut, I am assuming that this may not be a standard .desktop file.
Maybe there is even some really easy way of deleting this shortcut directly from chromium, but I can't see one.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Thanks, I have another little question;
I have a quick access to Web Browser, Mail Reader, File Manager and Terminal using the 'quick access slots' at the top of xfce application menu.
When I did some of my menu edits using lxde menu editor, I noticed that I 'pulled off' my 'Web browser' shortcut from quick slot - how can I restore it?
Thanks,
I am still getting familiar with xfce...

  • (SOLVED) Hide password in desktop shortcut

I am opening my login fmx from a desktop shortcut. The command in the shortcut is "c:\orant\ifrun60.exe login.fmx userid=user/password" start in folder "d:\app".
I want to hide the username and password text from the shortcut. Since I don't have the login.fmb file with me, I have created setdbpass.fmb and entered the username/password in the on-logon trigger of the setdbpass form. The code is:
    logon('USER','PASSWORD'||'@'||'MY.ORCL');
Now I can open the login fmx from setdbpass form, if I create a push button and entered the code "NEW_FORM('login.fmx');" in the 'WHEN-BUTTON-TRIGGER' trigger.
My question is: I want the setdbpass form to invoke the login form without having to click any push button. Is there any way to achieve this.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that already. But the problem was the screen disappeared as soon as I open the fmx. Finally I found out that the form requires at least one (dummy) block in the canvas.
Let me explain how I did it, so that others also get benefitted.
    1. created setdbpass form
    2. ON-LOGON trigger ---> LOGON('USER','PASSWORD'||'@'||'MY.ORCL');
    3. WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE trigger ----> NEW_FORM('LOGIN.FMX');
    4. Open the canvas and put a text block there. save and compile it.
That's it. Now the desktop shortcut should look like --> d:\orant\bin\ifrun60.exe setdbpass.fmx
    Thanks.

Cosmetics question: I'm using Gnome 3 fallback mode, and all the shortcuts that I put on the Desktop have white outlines around them.
I'd like to have just the plain icons. How do I get rid of the white outlines? I've spend quite some time searching for an answer but can't find anything relevant.

Here's what I did (in case you're not familiar with installing packages that you downloaded):
    > wget figue.lnx.im/nautilus-3.6.3-1.src.tar.gz
    > tar xvf nautilus-3.6.3-1.src.tar.gz
    > cd nautilus

  • [SOLVED] How to add keyboard shortcuts in XFCE?

I'm giving XFCE a try lately after all of the changes I'm seeing, I'm trying to add a new shortcut to ease some tasks but I don't have a clue on how to do it.
I go to Settings -> Keyboard and there to "Application shortcuts". Then I  select to add a new one and point to the script I want to run, but I don't have a clue on how to select the shortcut. I've tried pressing the keys I want to bind, but no way.
    This is what I'm seeing:
How to choose the actual shortcut?

It is the next screen   Pick the command, click OK.  It then throws up a box telling you to press the key combination.  It will show as you push meta, shift and control modifiers.  When you hit a character that generates a keystroke, it saves it, along with the modifiers.

  • Can't update add-ons, install toolbars or new add-ons, get desktop shortcut icons to work, delete desktop shortcut icons, or uninstall Firefox! Help!

I have Firefox 3.6.3 running on a Toshiba Satellit laptop with Windows XP. I can't update add-ons, install google and yahoo toolbars, get any of the 3 desktop shortcuts to work or delete them, nor uninstall Firefox to try and start over. What a piece of crap! How can I wake up from this nightmare?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Every time I try to use Firefox.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems
See [[Basic Troubleshooting|#Make_a_new_profile|Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile]]
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

  • Resetting my iPad didn't solve my problem with Bible  1 being kicked out when I tried opening the App. I was told to delete the App and re-install it, but won't that delete EVERYTHING I've done within the App?  Like the highlights and the Notes?

The problem I'm having with my Bible +1 App wasn't solved by resetting my iPad.  I was told to then delete the App and re-install it, but if I do that, won't that delete EVERYTHING within the App, like all the highlighting and Notes?  And I'm sorry to say, I'm extremely technologically inept - only had this iPad since mid-April and the first piece of computer ANYTHING in well over 15 years with my son - and we never had the InterNet. The reason I'm telling this is, I'm not even sure HOW to re-install an App.  Sorry.

If the app continually fails to run the delete and renown load might help. But yes, you will lose everything that you have done with the app unless there is some way to back up the info to your computer or another device.
You might also contact the developer of the app to see if they are aware of the problem and are working on fixing it. The developer info can normally be found in the information on the app provided in the App Store.

How can i delete an app on my desktop that says it won't delete because it's still open, even though i have done force quit numerous times? I even deleted it's files in my Finder and it just won't go away.  Help please!! TIA

Restart the computer then delete it.
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper 2.0.1
        2. AppDelete 3.2.6
        3. Automaton 1.50
        4. Hazel

  • In Windows 7, firefox seems to revert to the default icon (unknown as opposed to the firefox symbol) when I delete the desktop shortcut.

In Windows 7, firefox seems to revert to the default icon (unknown as opposed to the firefox symbol) when I delete the desktop shortcut. This is rather aesthetically displeasing. I can not find much help for this online.

You can try to clear the Windows icon cache.
    #Open the Task Manager (Shift+Ctrl+ESC)
#In the Process tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select End Process.
#Open the file picker via "File > New Task (Run)" and click the Browse button.
#Type or Paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local in the File name field (AppData is a hidden folder).
#Select the file IconCache.db and use Delete in the right-click context menu to delete the file.
#After the IconCache.db has been deleted, start a new explorer.exe process via "File > New Task" to get the desktop and Taskbar back.
It is possible that the file IconCache.db is a hidden file.

  • Desktop Shortcuts Keep Disappearing/Deleting Randomly

I have recently moved from from XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro and I am having a particular problem regarding desktop shortcuts:
I have many shortcuts on my desktop for quick access to my companies 2 large global network drives, however, at random Windows seems to delete all of my shortcuts to any network folder! With having about 15-20 shortcuts this is causing me considerable time
and pain having to find the folders and creating new shortcuts; so i have 2 questions:
    1. Is there any way to stop this happening or is it a bug in the system?
    2. Is there a quick way to backup and restore desktop shortcuts?
FYI - I use my Laptop both On and Offline from the my companies network, in addition I sometimes connect to the companies networks via a VPN; maybe this is causing an issue.
Hopefully someone out there can help me?!
    Cheers.

Noel, you are about the only responder on this issue I have found that gets it.  The "fix" is to turn off the icon removing feature and not the rest of the system maintenance pieces (which seem to be the useful ones).  All too often, the responses
are simply to do whatever it takes to get the problem to stop happening, even if that workaround causes other problems.  And you respond without letting your frustration turn into a rant (of which I am quite guilty).
Your solution above to change the number of broken links in the script is probably the most elegant solution I have seen so far.  It sounds much easier than some of the others, though if you still have to take ownership of the file, it is a little more
difficult, but worse case would be tied for the easiest solution.
The fix you posted (2642357) worked for me for a couple of machines in the last month, but in the last week failed on two machines (the hotfixes both said "this Microsoft Fix it does not apply to your operating system or application version.").
I assumed that the hotfixes had been integrated into a windows update patch, and the one rolled into production lost it's network shortcut icons.  I checked the registry and the keys were there.  Another machine got the same error trying to install
the fixes, but the registry keys were not there.  That machine has not gone into production yet and I have not tested it yet.  I manually added the keys and will test it this weekend though.  The point being that the posted hotfixes may not
work properly (mine are all W7-32bit pro versions).  And even the manual entry may not work properly.  I will update this if I find out anything definitive, though I will be changing the number of icon threshold on the machine that currently isn't
    working properly.

Hi, How do I delete an app that isn't visible on the desktop because I have too many.
I can get to it via search but then I can't delete it.

  • Deleted app left shortcut icon on right top of screen ,how to delete?

I put this program on called IPSecuritas (some remote program) on ,deleted the app,, but I still have the small black shortcut appearing in the same area as where the wifi, volume, date and time appear at the top right hand on the screen.. Where do I go to find the relic that is left over from the program. There was no uninstall with this program, and don't know where to look and how to remove. The app, after I deleted, was also deleted from the trash. Thanks

Thanks Dennis ,, tried that, and didn't drag. Had seen that method in another post. Somehow, I actually did find an Uninstall program for it, and it did disappear. I am going to try the program AppZapper ,the next time I load a program on, that doesn't have it's own uninstall program. Thanks for your contribution

  • Can I tell iTunes, on my desktop, to delete any apps that I don't have installed on my devices?

I want to know if there is a way to ask iTunes to delete any and all unused mobile apps that I do not have installed on either of my mobile devices?
I have apps that I haven't used in a long while and, while I can delete them manually, I was wondering if there was a way to ask iTunes to automatically delete any apps that are not currently installed on my devices?
    Thoughts?

That would be nice, but I do not believe it's currently possible.
However, this blog outlines a way to do it by deleting everything from iTunes and then reimporting from your devices.
