[solved]Desktop permission settings lost while upgrading.

i've been waiting a while for the latest gtk3, and thus all the applications that depend on it, to move out of the testing stage. when they did last night, however, upgrading somehow removed all of my standard permissions. i can no longer mount external or other internal drives, manage networking, shutdown/hibernate/suspend, and lots of applications complain and crash with permission errors. here's my pacman log for exactly what was installed/replaced:

i've been using polkit, udisks, udisks2, etcetera for things (although it's been a while since this machine was set up, so i've forgotten some things.) and my desktop is MATE 1.4
where should i start looking first, and what other useful information can i provide?

I guess have a similar problem. NetworkManager still runs but when I try to connect to a new network, it complains: "Failed to add/activate" connection (32) Insufficient privileges.
Also, I cannot enable/disable wireless from nm-applet
Yes, I read the news and I believe my system is boot using systemd.
I don't have it in rc.conf (although I do have some DAEMONS remain in rc.conf, like dbus) I start nm by
sudo systemctl start networkmanager.service
after login. Do I need to remove all the DAEMONS from rc.d, in order to make things work? Any help?

Make a copy of the iPhoto Library on an external drive for safe keeping. Your iPhoto Library is by default in your Pictures folder.
The meta data are stored in the iPhoto Library and you upgrade the library to a newer version, by opening it in iPhoto.
Hold down the options key while you launch iPhoto the first time and select your iPhoto library.

LR4: tone curve settings lost after upgrade

I've find an annoying bug in this new version that makes me really crazy.
I've a Nikon D300S and a D7000.
After the importation of the catalog in the new Lightroom 4 all the D7000 .dng files have lost all the tone curve settings (I normally use linear).
The D300S files instead retain the tone curve settings.
It's a very strange behaviour: I've lost more than half of my old photo settings.
It's really frustrating.
Will be resolve soon this problem?
Until that day, for my older works I'll be obliged to continue to use LR3.

I've probably found a sort of workaround!
I've made some "organized" tests and here I report my findings.
Using LR3.5, I prepared a "test catalog" using 4 images from 7 different cameras (28 images total): for each of them, I used both the original nef and the dng converted file (56 files in the catalog), all develop process was set to "2010".
The cameras were Nikon D70, D90, D200, D300s, D700, D5000, D7000.
I applied a strong tone curve to each image in a way that the appearance was heavily characterized.
Before exit LR3.5, I SAVED ALL THE METADATA TO THE FILES.
Opening and converting the catalog using LR4, doesn't show any visual change until I zoom in library or open the develop module: both these operation lead to a flat image with the strong tone curve lost.
Curiously, the history retains the original steps but they are ineffective: histogram and tone curve changes according to the visual change but for some camera the "new" tone curve is "medium contrast", for others (D5000, D90) is "linear", for D300s is "custom" (linear with blacks cut at 9.8%, and this explain my initial impression that D300s's curves were untouched, sorry). This last behavior may depend on the fact that I've different default develop settings depending on the camera serial number.
Finally, the update to the 2012 process only minimally changes the visual appearance and surely doesn't restore the lost tone curves.
And here is the UNEXPECTED WORKAROUND: doing a READ METADATA FROM FILES IT RESTORES THE TONE CURVES (and the 2010 process)! Upgrading the process to 2012 minimally changes the visual appearance again but now the strong tone curve is present and evident.

[useless, SOLVED] Pacman shows package corrupted while upgrading

I pacman -Syu'ed my system after a week & there was these error of cyclic dependancy while installing gcc package. So, I issued this command:
sudo pacman -S gcc gcc-libs gcc-ada gcc-fortran gcc-objc libtool
While instaling, it showed that gcc's package is corrupted.
But, later I tried installing it using
sudo pacman -U gcc-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-libs-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-ada-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-fortran-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz gcc-objc-4.6.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz libtool-2.4
and it installed correctly.
It seems like local repo had the wrong md5 of the gcc package. How come?

I was successful in installing that same package if I used -U option. Thats some serious bug in pacman which should be looked into.

However, I had my music on my iPhone as well so I assumed it will sync. It did sync but not the way I thought, so I lost years of music and favorite uploaded CDs. How can I recover it? I lknow you can acess iTunes from 4 computers so the database is there somewhere. Unfortunately all I was able to recover is the music purchased from iTunes directly. It makes me wonder about the iCloud product; if I cannot find my music what is my incentive to buy iCloud? It seems like they are starting to charge for something that they provided before freely, then messed up the updates and software so that we need to pay for this service now.

iCloud never stored music. That is what the iTunes Match service is for.
The only way to get back non-iTunes-purchased music is to import them to your new iTunes library however you did it on your old computer.

Lost three of my Digital Cinema Desktop Preview settings

I've come across a frustrating problem. I have lost the ability to choose three of my Digital Cinema Desktop Preview settings.

Partial solution, if I remove my AJA KonaLH software and reboot my Digital Cinema Desktop Preview settings return. I tried re-installing AJAKonaLH6.0.2, 6.5 & 7.0 and in every case 3 of my Digital Cinema Desktop Preview settings would disappear. Now I suspect it was an update from Apple.

If you restore from backup via iTunes the apps have to be in the iTunes library since the apps are not in the backup.

I really wish I could have come up with a more descriptive title for this post, but I don't really know what to call what's going on. I don't even know how to explain it, so I'll let a screenshot do the talking.

Honestly I never deleted anything though and the upgrade seems to have gone really smoothly, and I have quite a few customizations (which is why I risked trying it without deleting the config folders)
That used to be the case where you needed to delete the .kde4 folder when upgrading, but the last four major releases didn't require that for me. I'd rather not delete that folder if I don' t have to.
The problem is on my desktop. My laptop was smooth. I used the same image for both, but the only real difference is that my desktop uses dual monitors. Maybe 4.9 doesn't like that anymore?

It is compulsory to lose backup while upgrading from 2.1 to 2.3. Its really big big disappointing feature of the update. No care is taken by even google to restore sbf type back up by putting support software in market.

Try drifting up to the SourceList key, mariana. If you are able to change permissions there, try to make the changes described in Marconato's post (except that you're doing it in SourceList rather than Media):
Re: Could not open key: UNKNOWN\Installer\Products\9B00314CD581E574FBCE93FE37F2911B\SourceList\Media. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
(If we can't get to the permissions on the key directly, it seems that sometimes going up one level and using the "inherit from parent" setting can get the permissions in.)

After opening the site, please select the Source Release Version which is 4.6 b Then Select the Target Release Version which is "mySAP ERP 2005" or ECC 6.0
Select the Solution Area like Financials, Human Capital Management, Sales....
Select module like MM, PP, SD, and QM.....
Click on Search
then it displays the Release Version and the Delta Functionality. Which can be downloaded to a word document if required.

When you are upgrading from 4.6C to ECC6
Nothing major, follow the same process you'd follow if you were updating PI service packs in R/3 or enhancing data sources. Empty queues in RSA7 and lbwq. Also empty setup tables through lbwg as the upgrade doesn't like it if these tables contain data. This is all on the R/3 side (although you empty RSA7 by running each delta TWICE in BW).
To transfer queues from lbwq to rsa7, execute jobs through LO cockpit (lbwe).
Some of your data sources could also be using sm13 instead of lbwq, so do check it out as well.
For installing ECC 6.0 you required a solution manager key. With out solution manager key you cannot install ECC6.0.
For ECC 6.0 is called net weaver component here you have ABAP+JAVA stack.
ECC6.0 supports UNCODE.
For installing 4.6 you don't require solution manager key. It only having ABAP stack.
4.6C supports NONUNICODE.
Major difference is ECC6 is netwear product having WASJAVA+ABAP

Hi Werner.
Its has a sevirity 2. But since its a weeked nothing will progress until monday.
Regrading to your commect:"... I think it's related to the data to be upgraded. Because the error occurs right after NLS_LANG checking, possibly there's a relationship to this " .
The error raised at the beggining of the upgrade. Already in second screen
where you choose the instance you want to upgrade.
I dought that in this early steps its already collecting information regarding to actual data.
Can you suggest from your experience a workaround for this problem ?

Permission denied error while checking in

I am working on webdynpro DC. While i try to checkin the DC, the following permission denied errror pops up. I have seen a blog with similar problem, but no answer. Will someone from SAP help solve this issue?

Hi Sandeep,
looks like your CBS has no permission in the filesystem where it tries to build your DC.
The prefix "/usr/sap/trans_D30/CBS" looks a bit suspicious to me. Is it really intentional that CBS should work in some (probably publicly visible) transport directory?

Error while Upgrading to 9.2.0.8

Hi Experts,
I'm trying to upgrade my current version of oracle "9.2.0.1" which is running on a Solaris box, to "9.2.0.8" not able to succeed.
Can any body help me to solve my problem????

You need to apply Patchset 4547809 firstI'm not sure to follow you, the patchset 4547809 is
Oracle 9.2.0.8 which Sunil wants to apply on his/her
database, the thread's title is "Error while
Upgrading to 9.2.0.8", isn't it ?
If you goto 9.2.0.8 patchset download page, you will see all three patchset listed, there's a good chance Sunil mistakenly download the catch-up patchset instead of the full set. My purpose is to clarify the situation.
At least he didn't mention Patchset Number.
PS :
Patchset 4547809 first, the 415M onePatchset 4547809 is 415M for 64-bits, which seems not
be used here (the Banner doesn't contains "64bit
Production"), it's 352Mb for 32-bits. But I maybe
missed something else.

Again my purpose to have him post Patchset Number used, then we will have clear picture and rule out some assumption.
