[solved] Device Software Update stuck in process !

Hi,
Today, I tried to update the OS of my Bold 9700 from 5.0.0.400 to 6.0 (Bundle 2534) using BlackBerry Desktop Manager v6.1.0.35.
I saved the datas on my BB, and then launched the update as asked, but after 1 hour of installation, the update got stuck on the 381st module (out of 496) !
I don't know weather I should disconnect my BB and try to reinstall completely the OS or continue to wait (it have been 2hours now...). Here are some pictures (the software comes in French) :
Thanks for helping !

Edit: removed the pin from the img, thx !

Hi, it's me again.
I waited again, a long time (~6h) then the program told me I had a proble in my internet connection (which must have been an interuption), then clicked "Try again" and the programm worked again. Untill saving the applications, and stuck again.
I then unplugged my BB, reboot my computer & BB, tried again and, surprisingly, everything went well !
So I guess, I'm still not happy with RIM technologies, but my problem is now solved.
See you around

  • Desktop Manager asks for "insert BB device software updater disk"

When open DM (v 5.0) a message "insert BB device software updater disk" for a file named "ApploaderWebSL-Upgrade[1].msi". I cant find it....help needed....
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

OK. Can you uninstall 5.0 first. Next download and save the DM 5.0 exe file somewhere on your computer. Instead of double-clicking the file to install it, first extract the contents of the file to a folder on your computer. You can use any zipping program (i.e.. Winzip, Winrar, 7-zip) to right click the EXE file and choose Extract To. On my computer I created a folder called "Desktop Manager" and extracted all of the contents into that. Now you can go into the folder that contains the extracted contents and run the "BlackBerrySetup.exe" file to install the software.
If you just double click on the EXE file then the software extracts all required files to a temporary folder on your computer. After the installation is complete then the temporary files get deleted. So the main benefit to doing it above is that all of the installation files will always be located in a folder on your computer. So if you ever have to reinstall, repair, or find an MSI file that the program needs you don't have to download the software again.
Let me know if that works out.

  • Can't sync after device software update

I updated the device software on my 8530 to version 5.0.0.1000. Since then I have been unable to synchronize Organizer data between my 8530  and Outlook (2003) on my PC (Windows Vista) using the BlackBerry Desktop software (version 6.0.0.43). I keep getting the error message "Error encountered: Error code - 0x80040fb3. Check documentation". After clicking OK I get the message "Unable to complete synchronization".
    Media data synchronizes okay.
Also, after the device software update, whenever I turn off and turn on my 8530 I get the message "Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException"
    Help appreciated!

We have been down similar paths...    I upgraded the OS to 5.0.0.983 last night and it didn't go well.  It was getting the "Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException" error.
I wiped the whole BB and started fresh.  Then I was getting 0x80040fb3 errors for Contact sync'ing.
I have ~700 contacts in Outlook and they sync'd fine. I went through the sync details screen and found a couple that once I deleted them, it would get to the end of the sync process and then give me that "Unable to Complete Synchronization" error.  In utter frustration, I moved all the contacts to another contact folder and created a "Test Test" contact.  It still had the unable to complete error - even with just ONE contact?  Anyone have any ideas?

  • Software Update stuck: "Moving files into place"

Software Update stuck. In OS C Lion (10.7.4) I ran Software Update on 25-Jul-2012 (The day when OS X Mountain Lion was released). Software Update had 5 updates, such as Safari 6.0, Remote Desktop, iPhoto (?). Software update gets about 95% done, based on the progress bar. Then it hangs... for hours. I finally had to force-Quit Software Update. Rebooted. Tried again. Same problem. Rebooted and rest the PRAM (command-option-P-R) at start-up. Ran Software Update and had the same problem. Software Update hangs while "Moving files into place." Has anyone else seen this problem and know how to get it to work?

I discovered that if I selected only one update at a time to install, all but one installed (i.e., Remote Desktop, Safari 6, and iWork update). The one update that did not install was the iPhoto update. I had left the install to run overnight (about 7 hours). Console log for /var/log/install.log when installing iPhoto update follows:

  • Device OS Update Stuck

My 9900 is unusable - even taking battery out the device still tries to do "Software Updates" and gets stuck on "Backing up your data" at 10%.  Does anyone know how I can stop the device trying to do this software update? - and if the answer is going back to OS 6, then the best way to do this for a non-technical user.
I am appalled at that RIM can release a piece of software which incapacitates my business communications!
MOD EDIT: Subject Title edited to reflect new topic.

I apologize for the lack of a response until now.
First off, you cannot "go back" to OS 6 on a 9900 because it shipped from the factory with OS 7 pre-installed and you can't install an earlier version of OS than what it came with.
The solution is to actually try updating your OS again.  Obviously, something is going wrong and needs to be corrected.  By updating your OS again, we're going to try bypassing whatever is going wrong with it.
To start, plug your phone in to your PC and open BlackBerry Desktop Software.  Once your phone has been recognized by BDS, click Device at the top of the software then Update.  Choose the version with Currently Installed beside it and proceed.  That should solve your problem.
    I hope that helps you.

  • IPod 4 Software Update stuck. Please help!

Hi everyone! I feel really stupid for not knowing this before I tried to install a software update on my iPod 4, but I guess you need to set it back to it's factory settings in oreder to do that? Now it's stuck on a screen that shows the white cord pointing to the iTunes symbol. Anyone know how to get it back to normal? I really don't want to have to restart it, because I have forgoten some of my passwords, and stuff like that. If anyone knows how to get it  baxck to normal, or if there is even anyway to do that, I would really appreciate you telling me Thanks everybody!

Connect the iOS device to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iOS device is already erased. Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    To restore from backup see:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • MBP software update stuck at "running package scripts"

    Hello
I was updating my Macbook Pro and it was on the Install and Restart process but has been stuck on "Installing 6 items - Running package scripts" in the Software Update window for over an hour.
Nothing seems frozen because the mouse is running fine and the progress bar is still spinning, but I'm not really sure if this is normal or if there's something wrong.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just had the same problem. What I did to fix this was to log in with SSH and kill the Safari process. Looks as if having Safari running when starting the update (noticed the update was for Safari) prevents it from completing.

  • Software update stuck iPad mini 2

I started a software update on my grandma's iPad mini and it got stuck. it is on the black screen with the apple on it and the white line underneath. The line is almost filled in but it had been stopped at the same spot for over an hour. I can't get out of the software update so the screen is just stuck.

    Reset the iPad:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
This should allow you to continue the update.

  • Software Update Stuck on 'Preparing Update...'

    Hi all,
Today I got a message on my Apple TV (the new 2nd generation one) that there was a software update available. So I initiated the update. It downloaded fine then progressed to the screen with just the apple logo and the progress bar below it. Under that it says:
"Step 1 of 2: Preparing update... Do not unplug your Apple TV while it updates."
And that's where it has been stuck for about an hour. The progress bar hasn't moved past the first little bit.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Scott

Received the same message. Update took about 2 minutes. I would suggest unplugging your device and set the update restart.
    Good Luck

  • Error while installing Device Software Update usin...

I have installed Nokia Suite 3.2.100 on my Win XP-SP3 machine.
Upon signing in, Nokia Suite indicated that I have an update available for my device (Nokia N8-00 running Symbian Anna, Type RM-596).
The application available for update was Nokia Maps - with enhanced Drive navigation ver. 3.8.105.
When I tried to install, I get the following error message : "Something's Gone Wrong - There was a problem with the software update service".
The error message further suggests that if the problem persists, I should uninstall Nokia Suite and and download the latest version.
Nokia Suite is otherwise working perfectly fine for me and I believe ver 3.2.100 is the latest version.
Do I still need to uninstall Nokia Suite and reinstall again. Could you please help me with this.
    Thanks and regards.

3.2.100 is the latest, so you cannot update it. Are you able to see the same app on your phone update section? You can also try from there.
If the problem still occurs with some other app, you can try to repair the Nokia Suite and PC connectivity solution installation from Programs list of Windows.
