[SOLVED]dzen clickable areas

I am using dzen as a status bar in DWM and I want to know how I get the clickable areas to work. I have looked over all the place and I am still confused. Also I am piping conky to dzen.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I solved my problem. It just took reading dzen's documentation some more.

  • [SOLVED] dzen2 click areas in slave not working

    Hi,
    I am using dzen2 from official repos with openbox. I do not seem to be able to use clickable areas in slave windows. Moreover, if multiple lines are specified, the title click area does not respond
    This works
    (echo "^ca(1, echo 'TITLE')TITLE^ca()") | dzen2 -p -l 5
    This doesn't
    (echo "^ca(1, echo 'TITLE')TITLE^ca()"; echo -e "one\ntwo\nthree") | dzen2 -p -l 5
    neither does this.
    (echo "TITLE"; echo "^ca(1, echo 'SLAVE')SLAVE^ca()") | dzen2 -p -l 5
    What am I doing wrong?

    Using dzen2-git from AUR solves this issue. Can anyone else please confirm this so that the wiki can be updated?

  • Resizing a buttons clickable area

    Good day gentlemen,
    I am trying to make a brain anatomy game in flash CS3 and I am having some difficulty getting the buttons to respect certain proportions. Allow me to elaborate.
    I start with a picture like this one:
    [IMG]http://i38.tinypic.com/2a9dv7n.jpg[/IMG]
    http://tinypic.com/m/beu5uq/2
    And then I bring it into photoshop and make a different layer for each different structure (in the screenshot I only did it for one structure but you get the point)
    [IMG]http://i37.tinypic.com/s2fpq9.jpg[/IMG]
    http://tinypic.com/m/beu5xy/2
    Now what I would like to do is import my .psd file into flash and make every layer a different button. But I don't know of a way to view layers of a .psd file in flash. But here's the bigger problem. As you can see, it makes the "clickable" area for the button a rectangle shape.
    [IMG]http://i36.tinypic.com/x52mar.jpg[/IMG]
    http://tinypic.com/m/beu621/2
    Whereas I would like for it to be the shape of the specific structure. If the clickable area is a rectangle then there is an overlap onto other structures which is not at all ideal. Especially when I get into smaller structures. What I want is for the button to be exactly like the layer in photoshop. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

    I really want to thank skarthiks for responding. Here is the part I have a hard time with.  Your instructions were clear and nicely stated. But from what you are telling me there is no way for the imported layers to take on the shape they had in Photoshop?
    Here is the link to the video:
    http://www.screencast.com/users/canadian_hockey1/folders/Jing/media/1ac7b639-0272-4f80-9a1 0-91bf1622aa5d
    this is getting rather frustrating because it so simple. Again I want to thank everyone and anyone for responding. It's going to be a rather stupid error that's causing this.
    If you wish to try it yourself, I've uploaded the .psd file on rapidshare here
    http://rapidshare.com/files/414702909/figure_20_week_1.psd
    I really don't see where I'm going wrong. If you require more video/screenshots I will be happy to upload them for everyone

  • Blocking / obstructing clickable area

    From the title, you'd probably think I am facing a difficulty where some element is blocking another, such as a non-clickable image being absolute-positioned right over top of a button.
    However, it is the opposite: I am wondering if it is possible to intentionally block a clickable area by placing some sort of other element (perhaps a clickable element that does nothing when you click it) over top.  How does the stack work when you add elements -- is the last element added the "top" one in the view?  And, if so, does its clickable properties take precedence over any clickable items underneath of it?
    I'm specificallty trying to set some sort of "non-clickable" invisible blocker overlay on top of a normally-clickable area, in order to prevent clicking it until a certain condition has been met (in this case, I can't simply turn on or off a "clickable" property for that element...)

    Did the trick, thanks!
    If anybody has a suggestion for how to make an "invisible" button (but one that is technically still there, so technically I am talking about doing a "transparent" button, not one where visible=false), let me know.
    Throwing a button higher up over the click area blocked it nicely

  • [SOLVED] xmonad and dzen2 - clickable areas

    Hey
    I'm trying to execute a function (rather than a program), when I click an icon in dzen2, using ^ca() - but to no avail.
    I do rougly this:
    !#/bin/sh
    test() {
    echo "Yay.."
    echo "^ca(test)^i(/path/to/icon/icon.xbm)click me^ca()"
    It tells me test, no such command.. because it's trying to execute a binary called "test", rathern than my function inside the script. Is it even possible to execute script functions, in ^ca()?
    Thanks :-)

    Knute wrote:
    So what exactly are you trying to have execute when you click the link anyway?
    Another option that you would have is to just make a script that gets called when you click the link.
    However, if you are trying to use a haskell function to say.... Oh, I don't know, change workspaces by clicking, then that would be a horse of a different color.
    I'm trying to call a function that checks for mail on my gmail account - because it only updates every 10 minutes, and if I've read my mail it  ontinues to say "You've got new mail.." for 10 minutes obviously - when I click the mail icon, it should call the function that checks mail so it'll update as it would normally :-)

  • [Solved] Some icons are not shown in certain websites.

    For example:
    trello.com
    gist.github.com
    is like this:
    many icons are not shown correctly. It happens to all browsers(firefox,chromium,opera) I tried in archlinux. So I guess it' s an issue with some graphic library.
    It also happens to a gitlab server site I set up:
    How can I debug this? Does it happen at your place?
    EDIT: Solved by uninstalling change colors extension for chromium, deleting .mozilla solves for firefox, still happens for opera.

  • Upon startup Firefox says "Proxy is refusing connections." When I select "Auto-Detect Proxy" from Advanced settings and solve problem, changes are not saved and upon next startup I must select again...!

    Firefox 4 was working fine. Then one day, when I started up Firefox, it says "Proxy is refusing connections." I solved this by selecting "Auto-Detect Proxy" from Advanced network settings, but my changes are not saved and upon every start-up I must select it again! (I even completely removed my webroot antivirus protection, as it as hindering many proxy related programs, but this seems to not be the source of the problem)

    You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
    If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select "No Proxy"
    See "Firefox connection settings":

  • [SEMI-SOLVED] MonoDevelop fonts are invisible in XMonad

    A MonoDevelop project open in the XMonad tiling window manager:
    The same MonoDevelop project is shown, but this time I opened it in the MATE Desktop Environment:
    Any idea what might be causing the fonts to “disappear” in XMonad?
    Note that the text is actually there in XMonad: in MonoDevelop’s editor, I can do CTRL+A CTRL+C and then paste in e.g. LeafPad and see that the text does exist, it is just misteriously invisible.
    I would really like to solve this since I want to use XMonad as my everyday environment.
    Last edited by Montague (2014-02-14 18:19:33)

    Well this issue is semi-solved, but honestly I do not know what fixed it.
    I wish I had a specific fix to share in case someone else encouters the same issue, but for the record here is what I tried, in no particular order.
    (The two last points probably have nothing to do with the problem I was having, as they relate to how Java programs behave in tiling WM, but as I said, I have no clue what fixed my invisible fonts in MonoDevelop (in XMonad), so I’ll just dump everything I did in that list…) :
    installed ttf-ms-fonts from the AUR
    installed a few themes from the AUR, i.e. adwaita-x-dark-and-light-theme and a few others
    removed `wmname LG3D' from my `~/.xinitrc'
    uncommented export _JAVA_AWT_WM_NONREPARENTING=1 in `/etc/profile.d/jre.sh'
    I think that’s it.
    P.S. : however, fonts are still invisible on some tabs in MonoDevelop, but that problem happens in both XMonad and MATE, so I marked this as [SEMI-SOLVED]. Any input appreciated !

  • Non clickable area on the screen.

    I have a mid 2007 20" iMac that untill now didn't give me any problems. But yesterday I I notice a wierd bug. It's basically a small area of the screen where if I click nothing happens. Here is a video with the bug. http://droplr.com/xK8v Any suggestions?

    Hi
    Well, your problem description sounds strange but of course, it could be a screen problem.
    How about warranty?? Is it valid?
    The warranty covers only the hardware problems and malfunctions.
    For me it does not sound like a software issue and therefore the warranty should cover the notebook check, reparation or display replacement.
    I read about a strange color problems on a Satellite A100 series. Some pixels were light and some pixels were dark.
    The BIOS update has solved this issue.
    But you know, it does not mean that the Bios update will help you.

  • [solved] Various MP3s are marked as [invalid encoding] with Quod Libet

    Various MP3s are marked as [invalid encoding] when I attempt to open them in Quod Libet. These same MP3s open fine in VLC. I checked and I have everything related to gstreamer installed: good, bad, ugly, ffmpeg. My thinking is that should do it but it doesn't. The error listed is "Resource not found." But of course Quod Libet does have the correct path to the file. Also, in case this could be related, the files all appear to show raw unicode in the comments tag rather than the comments. LIke so: 000010A3 000010E3 000057E6 000062C2 0004F705 0005B198 00008000 00008000 00005A9C 00005A3F.  Rather than... well I'm not sure what that's supposed to be.
    I checked the wiki on gstreamer but and glanced at Pulse's but Pulse, ALSA, and OSS don't seem to be relevant.

    Yep I went back and looked and it's everything, except one song, that has an "é" and also the bôa album. I'll file a bug report about and call it solved.
    Also, I cleared all the extra tags and the junk text (which was probably a custom tag at  one point) that was in comments and it works. So maybe iTunes screwed up the formatting and Ex Falso took and mangled all of my comments because of it and something to do with unicode.

  • Clickable areas on a picture (map) ?

    Hi,
    I have a map of a country on the left and a panel on the right.
    I want to make the cities on the map clickable so that when a user clicks on one of them, the details of the city is displayed on the right panel.
    1) How do i render certain areas of a picture (map) clickable ?
    2) what about the interaction with the right panel ? how do i do that ?
    Thanks for helping, i am a beginner.

    From a very high-level, a solution could be:
    Start with a Canvas control for your map.  We want this because a Canvas supports absolute positioning.
    Set the map image to be the Canvas background: canvas.setStyle( "backgroundImage", urlToImage );
    Use a Canvas for each clickable map city using cooridates (x,y) for absolute positioning over each city.
    Set the data of each canvas-city to be the city name or some other identifier.
    When you click on a canvas set an application variable of the city name/identifier using a "click" event listener.
    Bind the right panel's display to the "current city" application variable.
    Is that what you were looking for?

  • [SOLVED] Many modules are not loaded in the Arch USB key installation.

    Hello!
    I installed Arch Linux on my USB key. I did it few months ago and it worked, I had portable arch.
    Yesterday I decided to make a fresh installation. Unfortunately after booting it from my USB key
    most of the modules were not loaded. Because of that I couldn't start the X server and connect to
    the internet (ethernet card was not detected).
    Even after loading the module which corresponds to my ethernet card manually (modprobe e1000e) it was not
    displayed in the lsmod list.
    I though "maybe I screwed something up during the installation?". To find out I used GParted to copy
    my OS partition (perfectly working Arch Linux installed on the hard drive) to the USB key. Of course I changed the UUID of the USB partition.
    After booting it I was suprised because the situation did not change - modules that are loaded on my main system for some
    reason were not loaded on it's exact copy placed on the USB key.
    I have no idea why my portable OS is acting like this.
    Commands below were executed on another PC so don't look for the e1000e module.

  • Solved: message "You are not connected to the Internet" after idle sleep

    Summary: What worked for me was to turn off IPv4 and IPv6 on my unused interface.
    The problem was that after my computer had been in sleep mode, Safari would say:
    "You are not connected to the Internet."
    or "softwareupdate -l" would say:
    "This computer’s Internet connection appears to be offline."
    Yet Firefox worked OK and traceroute also showed the connection was fine.
    Digging deeper (though only later, after I found the command), "scutil -r" indicated a problem with DNS lookup:
    $ scutil -r developer.apple.com
    Not Reachable
    $ scutil -r 17.254.2.129
    Reachable
    I'm using 10.6.6 on a Mini (model Macmini1,1), which has a wired ethernet connection on en0 and an AirPort on en1. I use the wired connection, but I also configured the AirPort just because, and then turned it off in the network preferences. I use a static (manually-configured) IPv4 address on en0 and DHCP on en1 (when it's up, which is only for experimenting). I don't use IPv6 as such, though I've left it enabled.
    I was initially confused, thinking the problem was intermittent, though it's not. I tended to assume that because the display had gone into standby the computer must be sleeping, without checking that the power light was dimming and brightening, indicating sleep mode. Later I found the "pmset -g" command to display the power management settings. Among the settings is:
    ttyskeepawake 1
    This means that if I had a shell session open in Terminal, which I did quite often when investigating the problem, the computer put itself into idle sleep later than if I didn't have the session open. The times in Energy Saver settings in System Preferences seem not to be very accurate anyway. For instance, with the default computer sleep and display sleep settings of 10 minutes and a shell session open, I've seen it take 17m25s for the display to blank and a further 14m16s for the computer to sleep, for a total of 31m41s.
    The problem only occurs after an idle wait. It doesn't occur after a software sleep (entered from the Sleep entry in the Apple menu or using the keyboard shortcut) or after pressing the power button momentarily.
    One way I found to fix the problem was to turn the AirPort on and then off again through Network Preferences (or the menu bar item). Later I found that disconnecting and reconnecting the ethernet cable also fixed the problem. I hoped to find a better way.
    What led me to this halfway house solution was noticing that if I turned the AirPort on and then off again, entries for en1 still remained in the routing table. These entries were for IPv6 link-local and multicast networks, as in this edited output from "netstat -nr":
    Internet6:
    Destination Gateway Flags Netif Expire
    ::1 ::1 UH lo0
    fe80::%lo0/64 fe80::1%lo0 Uc lo0
    fe80::1%lo0 link#1 UHL lo0
    fe80::%en0/64 link#4 UC en0
    fe80::216:cbff:fexx:xxxx%en0 0:16:cb:xx:xx:xx UHL lo0
    fe80::%en1/64 link#6 UC en1
    ff01::/32 ::1 Um lo0
    ff02::/32 ::1 UmC lo0
    ff02::/32 link#4 UmC en0
    ff02::/32 link#6 UmC en1
    Even with the AirPort switched off, ifconfig showed it as being up:
    en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
    ether 00:17:f2:xx:xx:xx
    media: autoselect (<unknown type>)
    status: inactive
    I don't know if these observations are relevant, but anyway they led me to the solution (well, workaround). The way I finally fixed the problem was as follows.
    1. Create a new location in Network Preferences. (This isn't strictly necessary, but it allowed me to keep the AirPort configuration (including my wireless password) intact in the default Automatic location.)
    * Click on the Location pull-down
    * Click Edit Locations...
    * Click +
    * Enter new location name (I called mine Wired-static)
    2. Configure the Ethernet interface with its static address. (If using DHCP, I'd have skipped this step as DHCP is the default.)
    3. Go to the AirPort configuration (even though it's shown as Off).
    * Click on Advanced
    * Click on TCP/IP
    * Select Off for both IPv4 and IPv6
    4. After clicking Apply in Network Preferences, a new "Location" item appears in the Apple menu between "Dock" and "Recent Items". Select the new location. This setting sticks across boots.
    I hope this helps anyone else in a similar situation. Maybe if you use wireless it would help to turn off IPv4 and IPv6 on the Ethernet interface?

    Try:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
    Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset Network Settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - DId the iPod ever successfully connect to the network?
    - Does the iPod successfully connect to other networks?
    - Do other devices successfully connect with your network?

  • SOLVED What benifits are there to Blank Padding values in a DB?

    I was witting some SQL last week and got really frustrated when I couldn't figure out why my joins were not working from on DB to another. I eventually found that there where blanks tagged on to the end of all of the values of one of the columns I was joining. I knew right off how to take care of the problem (RTRIM), but I found myself wonder today why this practice exists. Google couldn't really answer my question so I turn to you guys.
    What is the purpose or reason behind blank padding values in a DB?
    My assumption of course is that the creator of the DB I'm working with actually did have a purpose, but I was informed by my coworker that they didn't deserve that level of credit. LOL. Still, if the feature or option exists there must be a reason.
    Thanks for your help,
    David

    Can't imagine why they are right padded, though. Left
    padded could be explained.My bad, for a moment I thougth CHARs got left padded, when they are in fact right padded.
    create table t (c char(3));
    insert into t values ('X');
    commit;
    select dump(c) from t;
    DUMP(C)

  • Cube gets solved but measures are all blank (null)

    Anybody have any idea why a very simple cube built in AWM using a view to map to the cube would produce no data populated for any measures. All the dimensional elements are there. The build shows success.
    Let me know any other information needed.
    I appreciate the help!
