As it happens I installed ncmpcpp (BTW, that must win the world championship for worst name ever!) yesterday and am flabbergasted at how good a command line music player is. Having read your post, however, I tried this tag business and got the same error message as you.
My ~/.ncmpcpp contains an empty error.log file. So what did you do to get tag stuff working? What does your conf look like?
Cheers
Copy file keys and config from /usr/share/doc/ncmpcpp to your $HOME/.ncmpcpp

  • DreamWeaver 12.1 Modify | Edit Tag missing

I recently updated DreamWeaver through the Adobe updater.  One of the features I use a lot was the "Edit Tag" under "Modify".  With this new version (12.1), this feature is gone.  Is this a bug or a permanent change?

Just to update. I received my call back from 2nd tier support. The fellow told me they have seen the same "behavior". According to Adobe "it's working as intended" and that I should "edit tags manually". To which I asked "are you telling me that Adobe took tag editing out of Dreamweaver on purpose?" To which he responded by repeating the first statements again. He did say that Adobe developers may "change it" in a "future update". He was very careful to refer to it as a "behavoir" as opposed to an "issue", "bug", "error", "fix", "correct", etc.. Just for fun I tried to get him to say something like bug, error, fix but I failed. He was well trained at support-speak if not actual problem solving.
I uninstalled DW and reinstalled DW. I did not apply the patch and it's working again. So I'm still using it and CC for now. If it's not corrected or if Adobe truly removed tag editing on purpose, I'll cancel my Creative Cloud and make the switch to another IDE (Eclipse). Which I should have done years ago since I'm a programmer not a designer. I just got used to DW over the years and really do like it. That is up until this sillyness. I was on the fence over CC. I really only need Photoshop, Acrobat and DW to work. It was cheaper for the subscription that it was upgrading the stuff I needed but if DW is not in the picture I could get by with older versions of the other two.
If you are struggling with this issue, try uninstallng just DW (Control Panel > Add Remove > Dreamweaver) making sure you tell it to remove everything including preferrences. Then reinstall. It worked for me. And I'll be ignoring all future CC updates for at least 30 days.
So far I'm not impressed with the software as service from Adobe although I was very glad that a reinstall and skiping of the patch did work. I would rather have better support for something I have to shell out money for each month.

  • Is there a way to create editable tags in a dashboard section?

Is there a way to create editable tags in a dashboard section?
The requirement is - User should be able to enter comments in a edit box for a section in a dashboard and save it. For other users, this should show up as a non-editable comment while for the user it should be editable box.
Example: In a report in a section on dashboard for Supplier Trends, a Purchase Manager should enter the commments -" This weeks trends show no issues. Next week watch out for supplier X". For everyone other than him, this should show up as comments.
    1. Is there a way to achieve this functionality?
    2. Can this be achived using write back option?
    3. Or will this require java scripting?
    Thanks

    Hi,
If you want to have a better experience of your music files, how about just use WMP to enjoy all the songs, you can
sort by Artists or Album or whatever you like. There, you can have a better and easier way to organize all your music
    files.
For Windows Explorer, did you mean
medium size icons in artist, while list icon in albums, you can just organize as you want like the following screenshot.

  • ITunes 11 Edited Tags Changing/Reverting

    Hello,
I have an iTunes collection that has been building since 2006. I divide my music into a few categories using the "grouping" tag. Often times when I edit the "grouping" tag I am overwriting either the label or a web address which had been previously added to that tag. I also use Mixed In Key software to analyze my music before adding the music to iTunes. Mixed In Key enters the key of the song into the "comments" tag and the BPM into the "BPM" tag.
I have been doing this for years and lately I have began to notice a problem. On some songs (most songs don't do this), when the song is played iTunes "refreshes" the tag and often times the "grouping" tag changes or reverts back to the info that was previously in the tag, such as the label or web address.
Further, sometimes the key that is written in the "comments" field will change to a long code of digits... something literally like 00007658935482748193.. Always beginning with several zeros.
Is there anything that I can do to have iTunes hard rewrite these fields so that they do not change by themselves?
    Thanks.

Yes, others are seeing this. Something in purchased media (I am pretty sure this has only happened with purchased media) is periodically checking back with the iTunes Store and resetting the tags in the iTunes library file but not in the actual media files (metadata are stored in both).  I haven't seen a truly systematic diagnosis of the issue (I use an old iTunes and have no iTunes account so I can't test anything myself).  There are temporary workarounds but tags will still revert after a time.
Something to try (post by turingtest2) - https://discussions.apple.com/message/26454072#26454072
    If the above doesn't work:
2014 discussion about edited tags for Store purchases reverting to originals - https://discussions.apple.com/message/26077896#26077896 - edited tags are still present in the media file but revert to the originals in the iTunes library file.  Workaround is to refresh tags so media file tags are re-read and used in library file.

https://discussions.apple.com/message/26335620#26335620 - user ended up rebuilding iTunes library from scratch
Send feedback to Apple about this so they know it is an issue they need to investigate:

Don't expect an immediate solution but maybe the next time they update the software it may be resolved.

  • Help! Can't edit tags, everything is grayed out.

    Hey there.
I've recently got a new laptop and my iTunes library is located on an external hard drive. When I try to edit a single song (via "Get Info") I cannot change anything, everything is grayed out. However, it allows me to change the information when I select multiple songs (strange).
I thought it might be due to "read only" files, but they files are not "read only". It says I have full reading and writing permission, I can edit the tags through WinAmp, but why can't I edit tags through iTunes?
Not all the songs are grayed out though, the songs that I've recently ripped I can edit freely in iTunes.
I'm using the latest iTunes version 7.5 and Windows Vista.

The the music folder on the external drive was created on another computer, it is possible that Vista does not regard it as yours and has not granted write permission.
Here is some help on permissions in Vista:
    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/2464a180-e5dc-45d1-a2b8-3c8a 2b571e9d1033.mspx
You need to check that your account has full control rights on your music folder.
ANother possiblity although unlikely, is that your music files have somehow been made read only, you can check this by looking at the properties for a problem file.

  • After updating itunes 4.10 when editing tags in file adds two covers. This problem is represented as in 10.6.8 and in 10.7.

After updating itunes 10.4 when editing tags in file adds two or three covers. This problem is represented as in 10.6.8 and in 10.7.
Earlier albums were edited with the same cover.
    or 3

I think I have the answer.
I was experiencing the exact same problem. I tried lots of different things but what I think works is to exclude your iTunes folder from Spotlight. Open the System Preference for Spotlight, click on the Privacy tab, and then drag your iTunes folder (in your user/Music folder) into that window pane. In fact, I think it is faster when I am fixing tags!
Let me know if it works for you too.

  • Repeating Regions and Editable Tag Attributes?

I want to produce a template that will let users create pages
that list items as a thumbnail image and a short text description,
    one after the other.
I can set this up as a repeating region, but I would also
like to make only certain attributes of the image editable (src and
alt for example). However, when I use editable tag attributes to do
this, the image in each repeated region ends up with the same
attribute values - when I add a new repeat region and then change
the src tag through the Template Properties dialog,
all of the images take on the same src value. Looking at the
code, it looks like the editable instances in each repeated region
get the same name, and so I can see that DW will get confused.
Is this a limitation in DW? Is there a work around anyone can
    suggest?
    TIA

So, you have some number of people who are editing the child
    pages and you
want to constrain their editing choices? Are you using
    Contribute?
Anyhow, I am not aware of any convenient way you can do
    something like this
    using DW's Template features.

  • IPhoto Crashed Whenever I Edit Tags

I installed the new iPhoto this morning, and spent several hours editing Faces and Places. Then, when I began renaming some photos and editing tags, it crashed. Now iPhoto crashes every time I attempt to edit any tag information. Any suggestions???

try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)

  • Why can I not edit tags properly when I click on the star/bookmark icon?

    Firefox 6.0
When I try to edit tags, I cannot see the text I'm typing and when I type something and say "Done". The changes are saved so that's fine. I also noticed when I choose the folder for where the bookmark goes via clicking the star/bookmark icon, it doesn't update the choice I've made visually.

What happens when you click the star (now colored gold) a second time? See the steps in the process of adding a bookmark by the method you are using. Step 1, step 2....

  • Unable to Edit Tags

For the last few hours I have been unable to edit Wiki article tags. When I click "Edit tags", modify the tags, and click "Save", I get the message "An error occurred while saving or formatting tags." I have tried in IE
11, IE 9, and Firefox. Anyone else noticed this? I can edit articles, but I try to avoid that if I only need to edit tags.
Edit: OK, now that I have reported the problem, I seem to be able to edit tags most of the time, but not always. I cannot see any difference between cases where I succeed and where I get the error.
Richard Mueller - MVP Directory Services

The problem seems to be with just two Wiki articles (the two I was working on at the time). I have been able to edit tags on other articles with no problem. The articles are:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/6233.introduzione-a-windows-intune-v2-it-it.aspx
where I was attempting to add the tag "Has Image", to match the duplicate article I marked for deletion. And
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/5816.aspx
where I attempted to add "Windows Server 2008" and change "Has Images" to "Has Image".
I will wait awhile for anyone else to investigate, but then I will attempt to edit the articles (instead of edit tags), change this thread to a discussion (since there will be no answer), and consider the situation closed.

  • Editing Tags in itunes - does tag info stay with file?

I have a question about editing tags in itunes, hopefully I can explain myself clearly enough here...
I have a very large music collection...almost 10,000 files now, and have spent alot of time editing the tags, renaming mispelled artists and song names etc...my question is, when that tag is edited, will all that tag info remain intact when I copy the actual mp3's to another computer? I want to back all the music up to my laptop, which is running same version of itunes, but I don't want to have to start over again with editing the tags. When I initially put the files on my computer the tags were really messed.
    Thanks for any info.

Here is the last list I've had of attributes and were they reside:
For M4A and MP3 files... (WAV files do not have tags)
These are only in the iTunes Library files (ITL & XML):
    -- Playlists
    -- Ratings
    -- Play Count
    -- Last Played
    -- Date Added
    -- Date Modified
    -- Equalizer
    -- Volume Adjustment
These are stored in the music file itself:
    -- Artist
    -- Album
    -- Song Title
    -- Year
    -- Comments
    -- Compilation tag
    -- Lyrics
    -- Genre
    -- Grouping
-- Volume Adjustment (a special iTunes only tag in the file - non-standard)
    -- Composer
-- Bit Rate (not a tag - inherent to the file itself)
    -- BPM
-- Kind (not a tag - inherent to the file itself)
-- Album Art (only stored in the file - not copied to the iTunes Library ITL or XML files)

  • Edited tags of purchased songs/albums are not showing up on my iPhone 5s

    Greetings.
I am quite anal about the way I tag my digital music library. After downloading a song from iTunes or ripping a CD, I use Mp3tag to edit the tags. I keep things extremely simple: title, artist, album, artwork, track number, genre, and sometimes a comment. After editing in Mp3tag, I then open said purchase/rip in Foobar and further edit the tags through Properties, deleting total tracks, album sort, purchase date, and a bunch of other superfluous iTunes metadata. I then add to my iTunes library, transfer to my iPhone 5s, and everything is in it's right place.
Yesterday I made quite a few purchases directly from my iPhone, transferred my purchases to my iTunes library when I got home, moved the folders to my preferred location on my hard drive, edited per the aforementioned process, imported to iTunes, and transferred back to my iPhone.
While my tagging efforts are showing up the way I would like in iTunes (and my old Touch running iOS 6), they are not being reflected on my iPhone's music player.
Allow me to illustrate. I am compiling Radiohead singles and EPs. I purchased the Fake Plastic Trees EP as well as the single. I then combined the tracks into one folder and tagged them as one album "Fake Plastic Trees." This is reflected in my iTunes library. However, on my iPhone's music player, it is showing up as two separate albums "Fake Plastic Trees - EP" and "Fake Plastic Trees - Single." The track titles, track numbers, and artwork show up correctly, but it is splitting them up into individual album purchases and not reflecting the album name I gave. Another example: I purchased "The Daily Mail / Staircase - Single" and retagged it as "The Daily Mail / Staircase." It shows up fine in my iTunes library but not on my iPhone's music player. I have other instances of being able to sort my music by composers on my iPhone even though I do not include this information in the tags and composer information is not reflected in my iTunes library.
Anal? Perhaps. But I would greatly appreciate some Delphic wisdom to help alleviate the OCD meltdown I'm about to have.
    Thank you kindly in advance.

Isn't iTunes 10.5 r 9 a beta release for developers?  If that's the case then isn't there a special web site for developers to discuss issues (and they are not supposed to discuss them on the public forum)?  If you're not a developer and have this through unofficial channels then I'm not sure you can expect full functionality.
