[Solved]eee1000h Ethernet supported?

When I got my eee I thought there would be nothing better for it than Arch! I read that the eee ethernet drivers were built into the image from 2008-03, so went ahead and got 2008-06 and was installing fine until the ethernet connection was needed for pacman/getting the eee kernel from toofishes.
I read that the 1000h has a different ethernet adapter to the other models so i assume this is why it is unsupported (seemigly).
There is so much crap floating around about distros and the eee - So here I am.
eg: that 43 page topic in the Archlinux forums. -  I scanned that for any answers but was unsuccessful.
Could someone please just confirm whether Archlinux will support the 1000h ethernet from the USB install?
If so I'll go back and try harder.
Just for the record I've used Arch before and not a complete newbie.

Oh yeah, I remember installing that. If you didn't do it during the initial installation, you can still mount your media, navigate to the package itself and install via pacman -U.
I also remember selecting wireless_tools, but I didn't have much use for it until I had everything else set up, since I don't have wifi at home.

  • Ethernet Support/Domain Support RT 1 / Nokia 2520

    Hi all,
    I've had a browse through the forums and haven't found exactly what I am looking for.....
    Trialling a Nokia Tablet with Windows 8.1 on it and I was slightly amazed at the inability to use ethernet adapters (or I may be mistaken) to be able to connect to a business domain.
    I understand the tablet and OS is designed for remote working, but as a company we're looking for a device which will enable us to connect to a domain (to obtain vpn certs, policies etc), but I'm finding small stumbling blocks at every turn.....
    So, my questions to the community - if you can answer as close as possible, it'll be appreciated:
    1) Is there any ethernet support/domain capability for RT 1 (using Nokia 2520 Tablet) ? (If so, what devices can be used as I can't find any usb3.0 to rj45 periphs)
    2) If not, is there an expected future release of the OS to support this functionality? (dates/eta?)
    3) With current VPN issues I have had with the device (will not connect through to our DMZ as it requires specific certificates deploy via domain) - what requirements/pre-requisites would our DMZ servers need to be to allow successful and secure VPN onto
    our domain?
    Thanks in advance,
    - Drago

    Hi Drago,
    Please search the keyword "USB 3.0 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet Adapter" ,we can find many device information.
    Also,Windows RT 8.1 can't join a domain.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-rt-faq
    To connect your computer to a domain,you need to use Windows 8.1 Professional version or enterprise.
    Meanwhile,regarding your the third question,we need to know your security policy for DMZ servers.

  • (Solved) Bridge ethernet connection with Samsung TV

    Hello, on my laptop I connect to the internet through my built in wireless adapter. I am trying to give my samsung tv a local network connection. I do not care about sharing my wireless internet through the ethernet althought that would be a convenient plus. However, I run to able to use my wireless internet while keeping the ethernet bridge. I run ps3 media server currently using my wireless connection but wired is more stable and so I want use that. I unplugged the wireless adapter from the samsung tv to get rid of the conflict. I am using KDE and networkmanager (the actual tray applet designed for kde is in use). I prefer to set this up graphically using networkmanager if possible.
    Output of lspci | grep -i net
    02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM57780 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe (rev 01)
    04:00.0 Network controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR928X Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01)
    According to windows my wireless is a AR5 and not an ar9. Not sure which to believe.
    I setup the connection arch-laptop, restarting the computer and Wired Connection disappeared.
    On my tv I have internet protocol setup as manual.
    IP Address like networkmanager is 10.42.43.1
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway 1.1.1.1
    Setup IP setup to manual forced dns to that also
    DNS Server: 192.168.2.2
    My isp (cisco brand) modem ip address is 192.168.0.1 and my router is 192.168.1.1. I am not very educated on the dns gateway subnet thing -- note I am calling it a thing. If you can help me out that would be great. Also, I am not completely sure if what I want is called an ethernet bridge. I am pretty sure my dns ip is wrong. I set gateway 1.1.1.1 because the tv says 0.0.0.0 is invalid. I have read the wiki and some forum posts but they are commandline solutions and I prefer graphical.
    Marking as solved since tv does not even support this type of setup.

    The EU40EH5300K TV is a model from 2012, and is compatible with the STC-2000 and STC-3000 model cameras. These are a little hard to find as Samsung has discontinued production of them.
    Unfortunately the STC-4000 and STC-5000 (2014 and 2015 cameras) are NOT compatible with this TV.

  • [SOLVED] X11 hid support broken on fresh macbook install

    Hi!
    The solution was elementary indeed, I was missing xf86-input-keyboard and xf86-input-mouse. (looooooooooool)
    What bugs me though, is how this could happen to an already working system. From what I remember I didn't touch those drivers on my previuos system, I guess I installed them and forgot about them, but why would they break from a system update? Anyway, I guess that's nobody's concern by now. Thread solved.
    Old title: X11 hid support completely broken after system update. Now, I've completely reinstalled the system but the error remains. Please read the post below.
    I've a problem with X11 support for input devices since running pacman -Syu 2 days ago. This post contains error logs and a description of my attempts to counter the problem. The hardware is a MacBook, first generation. I'm a novice linux user but seasoned with GNU and a quick learner. The solution to this might be simple, but google didn't give me anything usable. All forum threads I found were either unsolved or irrelevant.
    This is what has passed. (long story short, may or may not be relevant, my current problem is explained below)
    * After the first reboot since the system update, X11 didn't give me anything except a movable cursor. The screen was completely black using the xmonad wm, and when using twm, it was completely distorted with blue patterns. I start searching for sources of the trouble.
    * ALSA and pommed complain about driver errors during boot. I can't read the messages because they skip by too quickly. I remove them from rc.conf because I prefer dealing with one problem at a time.
    * modprobe complained about framebuffer_blacklist.pacsave having an erroneous extension in /etc/modprobe.d. It actually loaded both the .conf and the .pacsave. I tried swapping between this .pacsave (is it the same or opposite of a .pacorig, btw?) and the .conf. Obviously modprobe stopped complaining when there was no erroneous extension, but I didn't notice it fixing anything else. I'm unsure whether the framebuffer is even relevant.
    * I decide that the problem didn't have anything to do with modprobe. I don't know what happened exactly during this phase, but for some strange reason, the graphics cease to be jumbled. twm starts the default programs, but is not interactive. I could move the mouse, but no mouse buttons were working. Keyboard not working at all.
    * I decide to wipe X11 and hal. I also rm -rf:ed /usr/share/hal, /etc/hal, /usr/share/X11 and /etc/X11 (yeah, I got angry).
    * Reinstalled X11 and hal. Also rm -rf:ed /usr/share/hal, /etc/X11 and /usr/share/X11 (I got really angry). Stuff works now! However, setxkbmap made everything break again, both mouse and keyboard. I read the output of startx and realise evdev hasn't been loaded, since /usr/share/X11/xkb/rules/evdev is missing. The whole folder structure /usr/share/X11/xkb is actually missing. I randomly hit the target and run pacman -S xkeyboard-configure, which creates the folder structure along with the evdev ruleset.
    * The keyboard does not work when using evdev. Temporarily renaming it so that it doesn't get loaded fixes the problem. If I'm not mistaken this makes X11 revert to not-hotplugged keyboard and mouse preferences in xorg.conf (which is auto-generated). The keyboard and mouse then works again (but, obviously, not setxkbmap, and I really need input hotplugging as a laptop user).
    * It's getting late, so I shutdown and go to bed.
    Waking up today, neither keyboard nor mouse is working - also when not using evdev! I've really no idea where to go from here. I've some output for you to analyze:

    Alright, I got fed up and decided to reinstall the system.
    Only installed wireless_tools, madwifi, hal, xorg and xf86-video-intel.
    Edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf to select the intel video driver.
    The mouse and keyboard are still frozen.
    Here are some much cleaner Xorg.0.log, xorg.conf and startx_output.log files, I hope it will be easier for any readers of this post to find errors here:
    Output of startx:
    hostname: Host name lookup failure
    xauth: creating new authority file /root/.serverauth.4956

    Reading Xorg.0.log myself, I find nothing that would imply the input devices have been erroneosly loaded. What is going on? Surely I must have missed something?

  • [SOLVED] Jmicron ethernet card doesn't work

    HI there,
    I am installing Arch64 on Sager NP8170 laptop. Networking card is Jmicron PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Adapter, which is controlled by kernel-build module JME.
    Command
    lsmod | grep jme
    shows that module is loaded. Ping to sites does not work.
    dhcpcd eth0
    is timed out.
    I loaded the latest module from www.jmicron.com. The driver is compiled by the following Makefile:
    MODNAME := jme
    TEMPFILES := $(MODNAME).o $(MODNAME).mod.c $(MODNAME).mod.o Module.symvers .$(MODNAME).*.cmd .tmp_versions modules.order
    EXTRA_CFLAGS += -Wall -O3
    #EXTRA_CFLAGS += -DTX_DEBUG
    #EXTRA_CFLAGS += -DREG_DEBUG
    obj-m := $(MODNAME).o
    ifeq (,$(BUILD_KERNEL))
    BUILD_KERNEL=$(shell uname -r)
    endif
    KSRC ?= /lib/modules/$(BUILD_KERNEL)/build
    MODULE_INSTALLDIR = /lib/modules/$(BUILD_KERNEL)/kernel/drivers/net
    all:
        @$(MAKE) -C $(KSRC) SUBDIRS=$(shell pwd) modules
        @rm -rf $(TEMPFILES)
    checkstack:
        $(MAKE) -C $(KSRC) SUBDIRS=$(shell pwd) modules
        objdump -d $(obj-m) | perl $(KSRC)/scripts/checkstack.pl i386
        @rm -rf $(TEMPFILES)
    namespacecheck:
        $(MAKE) -C $(KSRC) SUBDIRS=$(shell pwd) modules
        perl $(KSRC)/scripts/namespace.pl
        @rm -rf $(TEMPFILES)
    clean:
        @rm -rf $(MODNAME).ko $(TEMPFILES)
    install: all
        install -c -m 644 *.ko $(MODULE_INSTALLDIR)
        /sbin/depmod -ae
    When I am doing
    make install
    I have the following error:
    make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.33-ARCH/build :  No such file or directory. Stop
    I am working with the problem for 2 days and googling does not help either.
    Please help.

  • No Wifi or thunderbolt to ethernet support for windows 8.1

    After installing windows 8.1 on my new macbook pro 13, apple support software does not have the correct drivers for the network. Since retina mac does not have ethernet, even after connecting the thunderbolt to ethernet adaptor, no network. Any advise ?
    By the way, I was always stuck on downloading the support software stage. So I found this link to manually download the same. But if there is a new version, please do let me know.

  • USB Ethernet Support in Lion?

    I have a 13" Macbook Air that kernel panics when I use the USB ethernet adaptor.
    I've looked through the console report and the network family of kext extensions always show up.  The last driver loaded is always com.apple.driver.AppleUSBEthernet.
    I know that for a while Apple was not officially supporting the adaptor under Lion. Is that still the case? If not, is there some different driver I can use so that this doesn't happen?  I only recently pinpointed the USBethernet adaptor as suspect. Before that I tried re-installing the OS, and even had the computer replaced by Apple, convinced that the kernel panics were hardware related.

    Since most USB Ethernet adaptors require drivers from the vendor who made them and not Apple, I would suggest that you ask the vendor of your USB Ethernet adapter if they have an upgraded driver for Lion.

  • [solved] e1000e: Ethernet Port not seeing any carriers

    Hi, I really don't know what to do anymore.
    My ethernet port, who is named enp0s25 by systemd, doesn't work. After boot it is down, after setting it up by either ifconfig or "ip link", it shows the following:
    ~ ifconfig
    enp0s25: flags=4099<UP,BROADCAST,MULTICAST> mtu 1500

    Sometimes, the device is apparently sleeping, because

    Cannot get device settings: No such device
    Cannot get wake-on-lan settings: No such device
    Cannot get message level: No such device

    But with "modprobe -r e1000e && modprobe e1000e" I can wake it up:
    ~ sudo ethtool enp0s25
    Settings for enp0s25:

    The device works perfectly with a recent arch live cd and also in windows. I nowhere can find any errors or warnings concerning this. What can I do?

    PS: I tried several boot parameters I found on the internet related to pci stuff, nothing helped. The device did work a couple of days ago but I can't recall if some kernel update or anything else broke it.

    Thanks a billion, I've got exactly this problem too. I had to reboot laptop every time when pluging and unpluging  cable.
    [ice@ice-thinker bin]$ ls /sys/class/net/ -l
    total 0
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 May  8 20:10 enp0s25 -> ../../devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:19.0/net/enp0s25
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 May  8 19:55 lo -> ../../devices/virtual/net/lo

    echo on > /sys/bus/pci/devices/0000\:00\:19.0/power/control
    this way can bring me network back.
    reloading e1000e kernel module dose not work for me.

  • Ethernet support

    Any chance 2.1 supports ethernet?  Because of RF issues when at home, need to hardwire to internet.  Micro USB to ethernet adaptors are made and work for some android tablets but the compatability issue appears to be drivers.  Can this be done with Playbook.

    Nope.
    Can't you choose a router channel that is not compromised?  Must be a helluva RF pronlem.

  • [SOLVED] Share Ethernet Internet with Wifi AdHoc Network

    After several hours of searching other similar threads, I cannot find anything which turns out to be useful for what I'm trying to do specifically.
    I have a laptop with ethernet card and built-in wifi. With Arch Linux I have configured both before using both the ipconfig/iwconfig methods and using Wicd. I am currently connected to the internet using Wicd and Ethernet (only because Wicd is already installed and configured when I got this internet connection). It would violate the terms of my internet service here (in a dorm room through dorm sponsored internet) to connect a wireless router to the internet connection.
    What I want to do then, is set up my laptop so that it accesses the internet through the ethernet connection, and shares it with my iPod Touch through an Adhoc configured on the wifi card. I believe this still may be a small violation of the terms of service with my provider, but I really just want to be able to update/download apps on my iPod.. not let the whole floor have internet for the low price of one room.
    Thanks in advance for any help, let me know if I need to provide more specifics for what I'm trying to do.

    you can use iwconfig to set up the ad hoc connection (i dont know enough about wicd to see if it'll work with it)
    iwconfig wlan0 up
    iwconfig wlan0 192.168.100.1 netmask 255.255.255.0
    iwconfig mode ad-hoc
    iwconfig wlan0 channel auto

    you can then use your ipod to connect to this ad hoc network and assign the ipod an ip address 192.168.100.2, make sure to ping the ipod to see if its connected corrently or not.
    you can then use iptables to NAT the connections, iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING  -s 192.168.100.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE

  • [SOLVED] Incomplete compositing support in i3-wm

    I have no idea what transset-df does differently that allows the transparency
    to work properly, but there must be something. I have .Xresources entries:
    URxvt*depth:32
    URxvt*background:rgba:1111/1111/1111/cccc
    and I am running xcompmgr, but when a new I open a new urxvt, the
    it is totally opaque.
    However, running transset-df and selecting the terminal has the transparency
    working flawlessly.
    Is it actually impossible to get this working? I'm really confused as to why
    transset-df is capable of causing this behaviour, but I can't seem to have it
    working in any other way?
    Any help - or even some indication as to what's going on here - would really
    be appreciated
    Thanks

    I'm starting to think it's i3's fault then. If you have it working for dwm and I have
    had it working with dwm (to some degree), then the next logical explanation is
    that i3 doesn't support xcompmgr fully?
    I know it does at least partially because
    xcompmgr -c -C -f -F
    gets me some of the fade between windows/workspaces, but this is similar to
    transset-df in that it changes the entire window's transparency, not just the
    background.
    This is something I would really like to work but it's looking like i3 doesn't
    have full support for composited transparency.
    Is it possible that this is down to the wm and nothing else?

    to solute out this we need to see output of lspci and lsmod (or the manufacture hex code from xp also work.)

    its depend on the vendor id of the NIC.so put your lspci output after the installation of OEL5.4.In general OEL5.4 may give/detect the NIC by its own.

  • [SOLVED] ssh-agent support removed from kde-agent

    Hi all,
    Since its upgrade yesterday, kde-agent does not support ssh-agent anymore (see here). I consequently can't store unlocked SSH keys anymore, because ssh-add from a konsole can't connect to ssh-agent.
    The update note above mentions that the SSH agent is not needed by KDE since years. What's the recommended way to start it now ?
    Thanks a lot !
    Aurélien.

    I have been using ssh-agent with KDE on a daily basis for years and AFAIK, there is no better or more convenient way of keeping your private keys available. So in my opinion, the removal of ssh-agent, a tiny daemon that doesn't do any harm yet serves its purpose very well, was a bad idea.
    I found a solution that does not run multiple ssh-agent daemons, even if KDE crashes. The solution is based on the fact that ssh-agent can be used as a wrapper around a session startup script or program. Unfortunately, my solution is very intrusive and will disappear on each KDE update. It works as follows:
    # cd /usr/bin
    # mv startkde startkde-inner
    # cat > startkde <<- HERE
    #!/bin/sh
    exec /usr/bin/ssh-agent /usr/bin/startkde-inner
    HERE
    # chmod +x startkde
    Now the ssh-agent will be started on each KDE session and there will always be only one ssh-agent per KDE session. Comments in the startkde script suggest starting ssh-agent later in the process and then killing it on logout. However, such a solution is inherently unreliable, because it will not kill your ssh-agent when the X-server or KDE crashes. The same problem applies to starting ssh-agent from profile scripts. The wrapper method resolves the issue in a quite reasonable way.

  • How to add another Ethernet support in WINCE 7??

    Hello Friends,
    We are using AM335x BSP with WINCE 7 and on our board, we have two 10/100 Ethernet port as Ethernet Port0 & Ethernet Port1. By default Port0 is working fine. But Port1 is not working. I have done all pin muxing related to Port1.
    Do, I have to do something in .reg file or not??
    If yes, then please tell me what should I have to do???

    Hello Erwin,
    I have observed one thing in our BSP that under Drivers\EMAC\Resource Files, we have three entries as-
    cpgmacKitlMiniport.reg
    cpgmacMiniport.reg
    cpsw3gminiport.reg
    1. First one belongs to Kitl registry settings
    2. Second one, I have no idea
    3. Third one belongs to our MAC registry settings
    and these entries are called by platform.reg files as-
    ; Ethernet (EMAC/RMII/GMII) driver
    #if (defined BSP_ETH_CPSW3G_MAC0 || defined BSP_ETH_CPSW3G_MAC1)
    #include "$(PLAT_DRIVERS_DIR)\EMAC\cpsw3gMiniport.reg"
    #endif ; BSP_ETH_CPSW3G_DRIVER
    #if (defined BSP_ETH_CPGMAC_KITL_DRIVER)
    #include "$(PLAT_DRIVERS_DIR)\EMAC\cpgmacKitlMiniport.reg"
    #endif ; BSP_ETH_CPGMAC_KITL_DRIVER
    #if (defined BSP_ETH_CPGMAC)
    #include "$(PLAT_DRIVERS_DIR)\EMAC\cpgmacMiniport.reg"
    #endif ; BSP_ETH_CPGMAC_DRIVER
    and our platform.bib file are as-
    ; Ethernet Driver
    #if (defined BSP_ETH_CPSW3G_MAC0 || defined BSP_ETH_CPSW3G_MAC1)
    am33x_cpsw3g.dll $(_FLATRELEASEDIR)\am33x_cpsw3g.dll NK SHK
    #endif ; Ethernet
    So, without making any change in the above reg files I can generate the am33x_cpsw3g.dll under debug build but when I flash the image or download the image over Kitl, I cannot see the corresponding .dll in Drivers of System Information Remote Tools.??
    If the corresponding is not loaded (I am asuming) then why my Kitl, ping, telnet, ftp is working for Ethernet Port0????

  • [SOLVED] Missing LADSPA support and bs2b in mpv

    I'm missing LADSPA support in mpv. (I know that mplayer2 supports it, in general.) Specifically, when I run mpv the following way, I get an error message:
    $ mpv --af=ladspa=/usr/lib/ladspa/cmt.so:amp_stereo:1 some.avi
    Option af: ladspa doesn't exist.
    Error parsing option af (option parameter could not be parsed)
    Setting commandline option --af=ladspa=/usr/lib/ladspa/cmt.so:amp_stereo:1 failed.
    Exiting... (Fatal error)
    (The path to the LADSPA plugin exists on my system.)
    I tried this:
    $ mpv --af=help
    Available audio filters:
    dummy : dummy
    delay : Delay audio filter
    channels : Insert or remove channels
    format : Force audio format
    volume : Volume control audio filter
    equalizer : Equalizer audio filter
    pan : Panning audio filter
    surround : Surround decoder filter
    sub : Audio filter for adding a sub-base channel
    export : Sound export filter
    drc : Dynamic range compression filter
    extrastereo : Increase difference between audio channels
    lavcac3enc : runtime encode to ac3 using libavcodec
    lavrresample : Sample frequency conversion using libavresample
    sweep : sine sweep
    hrtf : HRTF Headphone
    center : Audio filter for adding a center channel
    sinesuppress : Sine Suppress
    karaoke : Simple karaoke/voice-removal audio filter
    scaletempo : Scale audio tempo while maintaining pitch
    lavfi : libavfilter bridge
    convert24 : Convert between 24 and 32 bit sample format
    convertsignendian: Convert between sample format sign/endian
    While man mpv suggests that LADSPA might be supported, it looks like it is actually not, at least not for the current community/mpv 0.3.5-1 release. I looked it up and this site suggests that there is a ladspa flag for compilation which, I presume, has not been used/enabled for compilation here.
    EDIT: I just tried the bs2b filter and it fails just the same way:
    Option af: bs2b doesn't exist.
    Error parsing option af (option parameter could not be parsed)
    Setting commandline option --af=bs2b=profile=default failed.
    Exiting... (Fatal error)
    So, did I forget to install something? Or is it a compilation problem?
    Last edited by itektur (2014-03-13 13:11:13)

    It's a compilation problem
    I have:
    $ mpv --af=help | egrep "ladspa|bs2b"
    ladspa : LADSPA plugin loader
    bs2b : Bauer stereophonic-to-binaural audio filter
    And during compilation, you should see:
    Checking for LADSPA plugin support : yes
    Checking for libbs2b audio filter support : yes
