[Solved] ehci_hcd unbind doesn't complete

Hi and thanks in advance for your help.
I'm most of the way through converting my htpc from ubuntu 10.10 to Arch but cannot get suspend/resume working with my DTV2000ds tuner. The tuner is otherwise working fine and when I remove it from my box suspend and resume works as expected.
In ubuntu all I had to do was add
SUSPEND_MODULES="xhci-hcd" to a file in /etc/pm/config.d
In Arch this by itself isn't working. pm-suspend.log thinks it has entered suspend mode but all I get is a blank screen with a blinking cursor. This is similar behaviour to ubuntu before I added the SUSPEND_MODULES line above.
I followed a script from these forums that unloads all the ehci_hcd devices one at a time. This unloads my mouse and usb IR-receiver but pm-suspend.log shows that it hangs when it gets to what I think is the built-in IR receiver in the tv-tuner.
Trying to manually unbind with this command shows the same behaviour, works for my mouse but when I try it on the DTV2000ds it just hangs and doesn't complete.
sudo sh -c 'echo -n "0000:00:xx.x" > unbind'
Manually running the above command in ubuntu completes successfully.
Can anyone suggest what to try next? If you want any specific log files let me know.
Thanks,
hubrat

Marking as solved as I found a workaround. Instead of trying to unload ehci_hcd, I unloaded the module for my tv tuner - In this particular case dvb_usb_af9015. I reload it on resume and everything is working as expected.

  • Mobile account doesn't complete initial creation and sync process

    I'm trying to setup a mobile account for a network account but it won't complete the sync process on the client MacBook Pro. Both the server and the MacBook Pro are running 10.5.5.
    When I login to client it prompts me to create a Mobile account and proceeds with the sync to create the account, but when the sync is complete it just logs in with the default account setup. None of the user files or settings (desktop image, preferences, etc) appear. The sync process says "Checking..." for all the files that supposedly get copied to the client, but it looks like it doesn't complete.
    Is there a way of knowing what the problem is? Is there an issue with the user's home directory, some file that prevents the sync and mobile home creation from completing?
    Thanks.

    I solved this myself. The user ended up have a folder on his desktop that contained a backup home folder from an old powerbook that he was trying to save. It was a complete home folder, Documents, Library, etc and I thought it might be interfering with the sync of the normal home folder. So I created a folder called Bad Stuff in the home folder and copied the old powerbook home folder into it. Then opened up the Sync Settings and excluded the Bad Stuff folder from the sync. And it worked, the sync when fine and is resyncing fine.
    Hope that helps with other people with a similar problem.

    That's not quite the proper way as far as I can tell. Usually, one boots directly into the Recovery HD using COMMAND and R keys at startup. If you cannot do that then most likely there is a problem with the hard drive. Since this is a new computer i would make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.

    Hi Mandi
    Two thoughts. Your Mac is struggeling about how to get organized.
    - free space on internal hard disk should read more than 10Gb and even
    rather like 25GB
    - The hard disk that You store Your movie on can be in wrong format
    ∆ is it formatted OK (if only one = internal it's most probably OK)
    ∆ external hard disks MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted to work
    • DOS/UNIX/Mac Exchange - won't do !
    - The hard disk can be untidy:
    ∆ Run: Repair Permissions (Apple Disk Util tool)
    ∆ Run: Repair Hard disk (Apple Disk Util tool) (You need to start from CD/DVD
    or externa hard disk)
    ∆ AND - delete iMovie pref file (or start a new account / log into this and re-try.
    (will do the same but it discards even more eventually faulty files)

  • TS1424 ITune download continues to process but doesn't complete. What could be the issue

    ITune download continues to process but doesn't complete. What could be the issue

    If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
    Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
    Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
    Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

    Two of our ipod touches won't connect to the home wifi.  They have done before. All other apple devices connect fine.  They can see the wifi devices, appear to try to connect (the circle whirls around) but connection doesn't complete.  Ideas please?

    I have 2 of them that only connected for a day and then reset network settings and they connected again for a day now resetting network settings does not fix it either. My iphone used to work with my home network but after upgrading to the latest OS which is the same versions as the ipods it no longer works either. Acts the same as the ipods. It would seem that the latest tweeks to the OS is the problem with wifi connectivity.

  • Iweb publishing to...99% - but doesn't complete the task

    I've had no problems w/ iweb on my site, www.usgreenlist.com
    until now. The problems began after I deleted a very short blog page and added a snippet on another page to direct some one to a TV program in iTunes.
    Now iWeb loads 99% of the way, doesn't do the last update, and doesn't complete the publishing task. and sits...as if it were frozen.
    I've looked at iWeb help, I've published 'all' as instructed, instead of just the updates. I have the most updated iWeb.
    Any suggestions? Thank you.
    Matt

    You can also try quitting iWeb, deleting the file Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist,
    restarting your Mac, running Disk Utility to repair permissions and then relaunching and try publishing again.

    EDIT: I forgot to install ghostscript, that solved it
    Hello everyone,
    I installed the lexmark-inkjet-legacy package from the AUR (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/lexm … et-legacy/) and I configured my printer using the lx-postinstall script, which is shipped with the package but I'm not able to print a test page. Hi, i've just installed Arch with LXDE on my netbook, but despite all my efforts, automount still doesn't work. What i've done so far:
    -installed pmount (didn't configure anything, because this isn't mentioned anywhere)
    -added myself to the hal group
    -put hal in the daemons (it boots in the background, but this shouldn't affect automounting).
    Anything i forgot?
    There were some reports to fix automounting you needed to change the PolicyKit file. Have you done that yet?

  • Encore doesn't complete build process of new Blu-Ray

    Hello, I'm having some issues with Encore and am hoping someone can help me out. I built a menu for my Blu-Ray project that is pretty simple and am having it not complete the build process while trying to render a menu. I made sure to check for errors before building an image and it said there were none. I really don't know what else to say as everything else is pretty standard. I am using a motion background that is about 8 minutes long with a sound that's about 12 seconds long for my menus. I'm not sure if the audio will keep repeating or just play once, but I'm hoping for the earlier. If not I'm going to have to go loop the audio a bunch of times in SoundBooth then import that. Either way it shouldn't make the build not work.
    I tried to uninstall QuickTime, restart my computer, and build again (because I heard other codecs can cause conflicts with encore) which solved one error that was coming up but the build stops while rendering a menu now. I'm using vversion CSI if that matters. I will try and reinstall Encore right now but would love some other input in case that doesn't work. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

    When an Encore project has had numerous (which for Encore can be only 1 ) errors, simply making a change may not be enough. To test specific possible issues, start a brand new project, with a new name, and use only what you need to test the problem. And in  your case, if you haven't already, I would start the project from scratch. You can import the psd menus.
    Either way it shouldn't make the build not work.
    I assume that it could make the build not work, particularly if the problem is the menu as you stated.
    See this for menu duration and timing issues.

  • [SOLVED] network randomly doesn't work after reboot (e100)

    Hi
    Lately I have some weird issues with network. I shutdown computer during night, so basicly I reboot it at least once per day and every now and then without any pattern network doesn't work at all and so far only solution I have found is to reboot (again).
    Before anything else I'm sure it's not hardware problem, since other OS on same computer don't have any issues, neither is router since other devices in network from laptops to mobile phones work flawless.
    Relevant info and what I have found so far (not everything is copy/pasted so there may be some typos):
    $less rc.conf (network part)
    eth1="eth1 192.168.1.242 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255
    INTERFACES=(eth1)
    gateway="default gw 192.168.1.1"
    ROUTES=(gateway)
    $ifconfig
    eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:D0:B7:5A:7A:A9
    inet addr:192.168.1.242 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0

    RX bytes:36154 (35.3 Kb) TX bytes:36154 (35.3 Kb)
    $route

    So basicly network is dead, can't even ping router, cable connection is detected tho (lights are on). I have tried to restart newtork with /etc/rc.d/network stop/start, nothing. Only clue is dmesg.
    $dmesg
    Linux version 2.6.30-ARCH (root@T-POWA-LX) (gcc version 4.4.1 (GCC) ) #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jul 31 07:30:28 CEST 2009

    e100 0000:03:07.0: firmware: requesting e100/d101m_ucode.bin
    ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth1: link is not ready
    modrope -r e100 and then reloading it doesn't help either, but reboot does (once I had to reboot twice tho).
    Anyone with more clue and ideas then me, it's getting really annoying, it also kill whole KDE plasma-desktop for couple of minutes before plasmoids find out network is really down and I'm not really fan of morning "gamble". I can't pinpoint some hard date/update when this started to happening because like I said it's random but last couple of months should be quite accurate. Thanks in advance.
    EDIT: dmesg when network works:
    tilen@pikmin ~]$ dmesg | grep e100
    pci 0000:03:07.0: Firmware left e100 interrupts enabled; disabling

    I don't have anything special set at router but I doubt rc.conf play any role. I will try to set it up with dhcp (but I think I have tried that already) if there is any change.
    This morning I had to reboot twice, so new kernel didn't help. Fowler, what network card are you using, also e100 (well or some intel)? I dunno, should this be handed to the kernel team? If it will piss me enough one morning I'll just go and buy a new network card, just wanna be sure that will really solve the problem.
    UPDATE: OK, this is just silly. I remebered I have acctualy onboard LAN so I edited rc.conf and dived into the dust under my desk to move cable and there I found out it was acctual onboard in use all the time Now this dosen't make much sense to me anymore, when I can't get net up all the stuff in dmesg is e100 related. Anyway, I connected network to e100 and rebooted, suprise, same story. Dmesg reported again link was not ready. I edited rc.conf to
    INTERFACES=(eth0 !eth1)
    in case this has anything to do with proper timing at assigning whatever needs to be assigned to network cards at boot so I'm sure just 1 card with all info provided get's kicked in at boot. First reboot after that works, it dosen't prove anything yet but at leat it's some kind of progress in recognising proper cause.
    UPDATE 2: Nah, still happens. Googling for "no link during initialization" show a lot of familiar problems, almost all on nforce motherboards and mine is nforce too. I just don't get it why this mess seperate PCI network card. In any case it's extremely annoying.

  • [SOLVED] Xmonad: trasparency doesn't work with compton intel

    Dear All,
    I am having a strange issue with Xmonad and I am not sure whether it is a problem of my Arch or Xmonad configuration. I decided to ask on Arch forum first, as my other computer running Arch has exactly the same Xmonad setup and it works fine. I would appreciate assistance from some Xmonad or Arch proficient users on this.
    Basically, I have this piece of code in my xmonad.hs:
    myLogHook :: Handle -> X ()
    , logHook = myLogHook dzenLeftBar >> fadeInactiveLogHook 0.8
    On the other computer this makes all the unfocused windowses slightly transparent. I find this feature very useful as it helps me focus on the window I am working with.
    For some reason this doesn't work on my laptop. My laptop is using xf86-video-intel since the lspci gave me
    %lspci | grep VGA
    00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 03)
    Also I am invoking compton-git from AUR but I have also tried with xcompmgr in my xinitrc and it gave exactly the same result - no transparency whatsoever.
    I looked through my log file, but couldn't find anything relevant (please let me know if you can think of anything). How do I proceed with this issue? Do I try different composite managers? Do I try different drivers? Is there anyhting in X setup that I should include? Please let me know if you have any ideas.

    I am very sorry. I've just discovered that neither compton nor xcompmgr were installed. It's not only solved, it should be marked as [NOT RAISED]. I was migrating my configuration and overlooked some erm... details.

  • Replaced hard drive in dv6 but doesn't complete installation phase

    I replaced my hard drive with one of the disks recommended by an HP expert in this forum, and it seemed to go well. After booting with my #1 recovery disc and loading each one when prompted, I got the final prompt/message: "Recovery Preparation is complete. Remove the Recovery Media from the system. After the computer is restarted, the recovery installation process will begin ... Press continue to restart the computer." When I hit the "Continue" button, the screen went dark as if it was restarting. But instead, a black screen with the HP logo in the center appeared, with only the text: " Press the ESC key for Startup Menu" in white letters in the bottom-left corner. I waited about a half hour, then pressed the ESC key, but it didn't change anything. Same HP screen. And that was it -- nothing else happened. I left it on overnight, thinking maybe it takes time to get going, but in the morning, the same screen was there and my laptop was hot as if in use. So I turned it off at that point. What went wrong, and what should I try now?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    If the recovery media is what you are using, then that normally has the best option and best results.  Since that is not working at present, I would try installing from the regular install media.  I know you state that HP does not supply install media and that is correct.  Actually most, if not all OEM's, do not supply media anymore and rely on either Recovery Media
    ( which is what you have ) or Recovery Paritionon on the hard drive, which you would have when the PC was new.
    Since you are using Windows 7 and assuming that is what came with the PC, otherwise you would have install media, then you can make your own install DVD by downloading the image directly from Microsoft.  Making sure to pick the same version that was installed originally then use the key on the Microsoft sticker on the case.
    If you have boradband internet it will take about 30 minutes to download the image.
