Have you installed kernel headers ?
Comment by rhon (2013-05-03 12:08)
Patch is now included in package.
Comment by binaryjay (2013-08-07 11:47)
Is there a reason that after all of this time this is still only available in AUR, why isn't this module available in the package repository?
Comment by rhon (2013-08-22 04:46)
I guess it's because the package doesn't get enough votes.
Comment by rhon (2013-09-26 20:36)
Package is now orphan because I don't use the devices anymore, so I can't test the module.

Comment by rudolf (2012-11-21 11:49)
I'm orphaning the crystalhd-git and libcrystalhd-git, because I don't have the hardware anymore.
Comment by rhon (2013-04-03 21:12)
Updated with patches from Openelec (https://github.com/OpenELEC/OpenELEC.tv/tree/master/packages/multimedia/crystalhd/patches)
Comment by rhon (2013-05-03 12:21)
Instead of fetching patches from github, there are now in the package.

  • [Solved] Apps compiled from source never work and a security question

    Gentlemen,
    I'm a Linux noob but in spite of that I managed to install Archlinux thanks to a fine How To Wiki.
    1. I have a question regarding compiling from source in Arch - does it differ from other linuxdistros?
    With other distros I normally install in /usr/local and that has worked flawless.
    Take Pacman for instance: although I can see there is this Opera app available in the repo (via arch's home page -> search package), the 'pacman -S opera' tells me the app doesn't exist.
    I've tried to download and install it from source following Opera's own 'how to' but the app fails to start, after a successful installation.
    Same goes with other apps such as f-prot antivirus.
    Did I miss something important here?
    2. I installed Arch over FTP. How safe is it, considering I'm not behind a router and the iptables/firestarter was only installed after xfce4 was installed. What about open ports and such? I know there aren't many services enabled/listening but I noticed couple of daemons such as portmap being active during the installation process.
    Thanks

    with other via the AUR for example.
    you can copy one of the existign ones, either the prototypes or jsut anyone from the aur,
    then change stuff you fidn necessary, like pkgname, pkgver, etc.
    and add the same build commands you'd use otherwise to the build()
    and usualy for a make install, just add DESTDIR=$startdir/pkg etc.,... just practice you'll get the hang of it very quickly
    Hi Kumico, thanks for the tip.
    Or I could try using Arch's default paths as long as the applications don't mind. But it's nice to have an alternative solution should any trouble arise.
    Regarding pkgbuild, I'll probably start to use it when I feel more comfy with the Arch environment itself.
    Using the terminal to perform...well, just about everything, rather than having a nice gui isn't actually bad, but there sure is a transition for a newbie to adapt to.

  • Trying to compile from source, several cpp files, but not a developer

    First of, I'd like to start with this- I'm not a developer (only do BASH scripting and Python). I've done some basic packages in AUR and am working on a new one. I have the source, mainly a bunch of cpp files. I'm used to seeing a configure or autogen script, however the source I have does not provide these. I can do a PKGBUILD that works with the .deb file package, but I'd like to compile from source for AUR. I've tried looking at other C++ packages in AUR but I can't seem to find one that doesn't have a configure script with the source files. Google also did not help much.
    Any advice or pointers to resources would be greatly appreciated. I've also got a message out to the developer about it- the more I can learn on this the better. The source isn't on the site yet, but the application is fred, located at:
    https://www.pinguin.lu/
    Thanks in advance!

    Sorry I can't help.  A list of filenames or at least file types could be useful.  But I just checked my email, downloaded whatever that was and found that it was not a proper tarball and could not be extracted.
    Edit: I must be really bored tonight.  I passed whatever that was (the not-quite-tarball) through gnu strings and less, and sure enough I was able to scroll through most of the code.  Along the way I saw a Makefile hack with a initial line "#!/usr/bin/make -f" which would run make and treat the contents of that file as a Makefile.  Reading it in this way I could not determine what the filename was, but it may have ended in ".sh" or it might have been called "install".  In any case you can do `grep '/usr/bin/make' * and run whichever file matches.
    I'd also ask the developer to consider dropping that hash-bang invocation and just properly naming that file "Makefile".
    edit2: there is also a reference to the ".pro" file which is used by qmake (I think) like a Makefile.
    edit3: I just verified on a few properly made tarballs: `strings <name>.tar.gz | less` does not show anything remotely readable in any other tarballs, but run on yours I can read *all* of the code directly. I'm not sure how you made that tarball, but you may want to look into that.

  • [SOLVED] Error compiling compat-wireless

    Bugged by permanent connection drops with ath9k, I want to try out compat-wireless. Got compat-wireless-2.6.31-rc7 from here. The driver-select script mentioned on the website is not present in the source, and the included readme makes no mention of it.
    When I run "make", it aborts with following error:
    [user@arch compat-wireless-2.6.31-rc7]$ make
    make -C /lib/modules/2.6.31-ARCH/build M=/home/user/compat-wireless-2.6.31-rc7 modules

    The PKBUILD in Aur seems to have a typo and tries to install kernel26<=2.6.31 as a dependency, however since I do not understand what else it does I am not overly confident to just remove the dependency line in question.
    Anyone else got compat-wireless to compile?

    Hmm, not overly enthusiastic to search for windows drivers at the moment... The problem got worse recently, before I just had a hotkey for "netcfg2 -r", now the module has to be unloaded/loaded also...
    However, just got a "Mission Accomplished" moment by changing wpa mode in the router config to "wpa2 only" (before: auto wpa/wpa2), no connection drops anymore for an unusual long period of time... Also, copying large files over the network would force it to break before, which is not happening now.
    But if this indeed fixes anything is still too early to say.
    edit: surfing, torrent running, copying 15gb from a network disk and no connection drop - this is unheard of so far. the only thing why I remain suspicious, there is no one else home, so maybe it will fail again when more people use the network. don't know what speed is considered "standard", I had ~2,7Mb/sec copying files.
    edit II: Crap. The connection was still dropping, but reconnected automatically. Before the connection was just broken, without any output in dmesg, and did not come up again by itself. That's where I'm back now.

  • [solved] Error compiling wpa_supplicant with broadcom_wl support

    Hello friends.
    I'm using the broadcom_wl driver for my bcm4312 card in my Dell XPS m1530 laptop. Unsecured wifi is tested and works fine.
    I need to use wpa_supplicant to connect to my university's wifi. The core package for wpa_supplicant is not compiled with broadcom support. I tried using the generic wext option, but I get
    Trying to associate with 00:11:92:90:de:e1 (SSID='restricted.utexas.edu' freq=2462 MHz)
    ioctl[SIOCSIWAP]: Device or resource busy
    Association request to the driver failed
    It looks like the generic wext option doesn't work for the bcm4312.
    So I tried to compile wpa_supplicant with broadcom support using ABS with this package: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=18511 from AUR. I enabled broadcom support in the config file and pointed it toward my local copy of wlioctl.h.
    Unfortunately, build() dies with

    I don't know c. Can someone decipher this error for me?
    Thanks in advance.
    EDIT: There are multiple versions of wlioctl.h floating around. I eventually got this to work with the version included with the wrt54g tarball. BUT, wpa_supplicant still had driver problems when being run with the -D broadcom option.
    I eventually got this working with ndiswrapper and instructions found here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiD … y_No-Fluff
    Pay special attention to the instruction:
    "This Chipset/PCI ID is the correct/reliable way to identify the device: Any other labels can be misleading (e.g., notice that both the '14e4:4311 (rev 02)' and '14e4:4319 (rev 02)' call themselves a "BCM4311 (Rev 02)", even though they are different devices)."
    Download the driver that matches the output of
    lspci -n | grep '14e4:43'
    Anyway, wpa_supplicant still gave me driver troubles when using the -D ndiswrapper option. However, it works well with -D wext.
    Tldr;
    -Your bcm4312 may actually be a BCM4310 (rev 01).
    -Use ndiswrapper with this driver: http://myspamb8.googlepages.com/R174291-pruned.zip
    -use wpa_supplicant with the -D wext option.

    Hi,
      Goto Info pack -> on menu bar select scheduler -> select init options for source system -> one request with green status -> select it and  click on delete symbol , it will delete the init. you can cross verify this in the base ODS where you dint find data mart status(after refresh). now  select init delta process under that select init without data transfer and schedule the load it will update one record and init flag to your source ODS.
    Note: if the last request is not updated from soruce ods to targets for that also you will find data mart status for this select the particular data mart -> click on delete symbol it will delete for the particular request (if it is updated to target it will not allow you to delete) then do delta load it will update the request which is not loaded from source ods to next targets.

    Set up a file that you source from bash to prepend the cross compiler to your path, that would only be active for that shell, and when you're done just close it. Means you only activate the cross compiler when you need it.

  • New Open Source Broadcom WIFI driver, where to start?

    Hello I want to install new Broadcom Open Source driver brcm80211 for my Broadcom BCM43225 WIFI card but I'm kinda confused where to start. First of all this driver is not available in Arch repositories nor AUR, so I guess there's only GIT way in which I'm not too much familiar. At the moment only Debian has this driver available in it's backports kernel but that is useless for Arch Linux user, except for the firmware loading instructions. So please help me, I have exported the whole 500MB+ git "next staging" tree, and now I would like to figure it out how to compile brcm80211 module and eventually use it with Arch kernel. Thanks in advance.
    Last edited by Riot777 (2010-09-28 23:00:45)

    I spent close to an hour shortly after it was added to the staging-next branch and managed to compile it against 2.6.35.4 (not sure about the .4 part however). Unfortunately, it wasn't especially stable and got some kernel oops on suspend. After that, I went back to using the wl module.
    Recent changes don't look like they could have improved the stability of the driver by much, so I'd advise against using it for now.
    With the above said, if you're feeling adventurous you can build the driver as follows:
    0. Make sure you have the `base-devel' group installed, along with `kernel26-headers' (preferably version 2.6.35.6-2 as 2.6.35.6-1 had some issues) and `linux-firmware' 20100911-1 (the one in [core] doesn't contain the firmware files for brcm80211 AFAIK).
    1. Grab just the brcm80211 directory from the staging-next branch by clicking the `snapshot' link on this page.
    2. Extract the compressed tarball and then open a terminal inside the staging-next-2.6-x directory that gets created.
    3. Change the Makefile a little by running `curl -s http://ompldr.org/vNW82NA/Makefile.patch | patch -Np0'. After that, run `make'.
    4. Now, you should have the compiled module `brcm80211.ko' in the current directory, which you can copy into `/lib/modules/2.6.35-ARCH/updates/'. (Create the updates directory if it doesn't exist.)
    I didn't test the above steps thoroughly and I'm not certain this is the correct way to build the driver. However, I believe it'll get you a working kernel module.

The only problem is that when I'm trying to run the make command, I get some errors, which I figured they might be caused by the OS. So what target do I have to specify when trying to install a package in this manner? Nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance!

    You can do everything in the Terminal. That is an excellent way to learn how things work underneath. I always recommend programmers start with the Terminal before jumping into an IDE like Xcode.
    Some did, some didn't compile for me (MPFR and GMP, for example, worked. PHP and GCC didn't ), and I'd say they're quite common.
    It isn't the commonality, it is how closely a package is tied to a particular OS. Both PHP and GCC come with MacOSX, so you have to be careful with them. If you really need to, you can build your own versions, with some work.
    Unless I've got something wrong. The partition recovery operation was to be carried out for a Windows-based machine, and the instructions recommended CygWin for compilation under Windows.
    GCC, for example, is closely tied to the OS. Apple ships that particular version of GCC because that is the version they build Snow Leopard with. Even so, GCC 4.2 has some serious bugs, especially with C++ and Debug mode.
    PHP isn't too difficult to build. The dependencies are the hard part there. PHP is very modular and can link to lots of different libraries. It is closely tied to Apache, so if you want your own build you really have to know PHP and Apache well. You can always download Apple source projects that are "guaranteed to build" on MacOS X - with some work
    I have no idea about that partition recovery tool. If you can build it, I sure wouldn't try to run it. Windows and Linux file systems are very different from MacOS X.
    I think you just had the misfortune to start playing with things that are very difficult to build, even under the best circumstances.
    I'll see what I'll end up doing, I've got many things sorted out and clarified after reading this thread. Thanks a lot!
    If you have any questions, just ask here. Most people aren't ask anti-Macports/Fink as I am. I just don't like the idea that anything needs to be "ported" to MacOSX. If an open-source tool won't build out of the box on MacOSX, then either it shouldn't (because it is hardware or OS-dependent) or you don't want it to (because it is junk).

  • [SOLVED]Error compiling packettracer

    Today I downloaded a copy of packettracer from the AUR(which is awesome because I didn't think you could get it for free) and when I ran makepkg after extracting the package I ran into this:
    ==> Making package: packettracer 5.3.3-1 (Mon Feb 11 23:00:23 UTC 2013)
    ==> Checking runtime dependencies...
    ==> Checking buildtime dependencies...
    ==> Retrieving Sources...
    ==> ERROR: PacketTracer533_Generic_Fedora.tar.gz was not found in the build directory and is not a URL.
    I'm not exactly sure what it means but I'm assuming that I need a Fedora package to go along with this? Seems odd.

    Oh I see. So it isn't free.. Oh well. Thanks for the quick response.
    EDIT: Hmmm, what if I happen to have PacketTracer533_Generic_Fedora.tar.gz? Nevermind. Solved.

    I've solved the issue, infact there was a problem with the patch. Now I am able to compile the kernel.
    Thanks anyway!
