[SOLVED] EVE Online and Wine 1.7

I'm running EVE Online with wine-1.7.28. My issue is that WIndows within the game have rendering issues as well as part of the station UI.
The rendering issues mean that I can't change tabs in a window (I can collapse and reload the window and the tab has changed). I also can't drag windows around - well, I can but they don't move visually.
The station UI section that doesn't render is the Upper right hand corner - the section with the station Logo and undock button. The button showed after I clicked it.
Text renders.
Any ideas?
Errors which I have seen include:
fixme:d3d_surface:surface_load_texture Downloading RGB surface 0xf03dfa8 to reload it as sRGB.
and
fixme:imm:NotifyIME NI_CLOSECANDIDATE

I remember from researching my problem that errors starting with "fixme" or ending with "stub" are things that someone should probably fix eventually, but aren't usually part of what causes problems. Can you provide a paste (in code tags, of course) of all the lines/errors instead of just those two?

  • EVE-ONLINE and WINE 1.3.20-1

Eve Online exits and terminates while using WINE 1.3.20-1 -- if you move/resize windows.
This probably should be posted on the WINEHQ bug thingy, but I posted it here too incase others are getting issues.
WINE 1.3.19-2 is what I had to revert/roll-back too.
XFCE4  64-bit w/ wine (using "WINEARCH=win32 winecfg" to config wine)

yeah, i can confirm this. its happening to me too.

  • [Solved] Need help with Eve Online and Ati Radeon HD5650

    Hi
I'm having trouble running Eve Online under wine on my Acer TimelineX 3820TG.
I am using wine-1.4-rc5, wine_gecko and winetricks from the repository
and the open source drivers. (using WINEARCH=win32)
I also have the libgl, lib32-libgl, mesa and lib32-mesa installed.
Wine starts, Eve logo/picture shows and then I get the following errors:

I have been looking for a solution for quite a while...
I think I have all 32 bit and 64 bit libraries and drivers installed.
By the looks of it something in  r600_dri.so breaks, but I have no idea how to fix this

bump ...  nobody has anything helpful to post ?
Am I trying to do something that is not possible with the open source driver ? start a game in wine 32bit?
Or maybe the problem is in one of the  libraries ?
I did mess around with the catalyst before, but the 2d was so bad that I decided not to even try the 3D watching a movie was impossible at a decent fps O.o
And I do believe that I removed all and re-installed Open Source libraries + drivers properly. Is there a definitive way to check ?

  • Wine, Eve Online and Pulseaudio

I've got Eve Online working nicely in Wine with very few problems. However I can't get it to work nicely with pulseaudio.
Winecfg's audio section can play sound through pulseaudio just fine, via alsa using ~/.asoundrc. However Eve Online cannot output sound while pulse is running and so I have to use pasuspender when running Eve.
I've googled quite a bit and tried several solutions. However they all seem out of date or require compiling custom versions of wine with patches that may or may not work with newer version of wine.
It's a bit annoying as I'd like to be able to listen to my music while playing.
    Any ideas?

Well wine-multimedia worked very well. It's clearly got a few bugs still but on the whole not bad at all.  Wine-multimedia does trigger a graphics issue (using the captains quarters causes a crash), whereas wine does not, but that is a known issue with the game and is affecting some windows users too.
Sound works very well, it was choppy for a few seconds as the game started but fine after that. Funnily enough it feels faster and much smoother than on my windows install.
EDIT: For anyone else setting up eve as well it seems the client and the launcher need some different settings. I made two aliases:
    eve='WINEDLLOVERRIDES="*msvcrt,*msvcr100,*msvcr90,*msvcr80=b,n" wine "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe"'
    eve-launcher='WINEDLLOVERRIDES="*msvcr100,*msvcr90,*msvcr80=n,b" wine "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"'
    Seems to do the trick.
    ### A few things I've learned doing this: ###
You need to install winetricks and run:
    winetricks corefonts d3dx9_36 vcrun2005 vcrun2008 vcrun2010
    Before running the eve setup.
If vcrun2010 fails try running winetricks msxml3 and follow the instructions to manually download the installer.
If you're client crashes on clicking on a character, open the game, log in, press escape, go to the graphics options and disable "Load Station Environment". Undock then change the option back. You should now have a movable station environment. If you were getting the crash before do NOT open the captain's quarters.
Using wine-multimedia you may have to use winecfg to change the audio out/in puts to pulseaudio.

  • GLC and EVE Online via wine

    Hi fellow Arch-People! o/
For quite some time now I am searching for a program to capture gaming videos in Arch.
And after tools like xvidcapture, recordmydesktop and istanbul didn't satisfy me, I found GLC and installed it as described in this old newsletter: http://www.archlinux.org/static/magazin … ul-07.html
    $ yaourt -S glc-git
    Worked so far.
    But not with wine:
    $ WINEDEBUG=-all glc-capture -o /home/urviech/blubb -r 0.5 wine explorer /desktop=1,1680x1050 "D:\EVE2\eve.exe"
    throws:
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libglc-hook.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libglc-hook.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libglc-hook.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libglc-hook.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libglc-hook.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
Then the Game launches, but capturing doesn't work.
    Strange enough
    $ glc-capture -o /home/urviech/xglc -r 0.5 glxgears
works well, and also Tux Racer.
I suspect it to be a problem related to me running Arch 64bit and wine being a 32bit Application.
So - what can I try to make this work?

    Urviech wrote:
Ok, in the meantime I have set up a 32bit chroot environment, and used yaourt inside of it to build the glc-git package. I copied and installed it via pacman -U in my 64bit environment.
I also had to install lib32-libpng, and after that, it worked!
    it still throws errors:
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libglc-hook.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libglc-hook.so' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded: ignored.
but only two times instead of nine, and its capturing just fine.
here's the compiled package, if anyone needs it:
    http://web149.mis12.de/glc-git-20100319 … pkg.tar.gz
Sorry for bumping an old thread but thanks very much for this works perfect on 64bit Arch.

  • [SOLVED] Installing Eve Online with Wine

I followed this guide: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. … &iId=25823 in an attempt to install Eve on wine. However, when I try to run the installer.msi file, the install window appears, but the buttons to continue are greyed out. The only button that is not greyed out is the cancel button, and I am not able to press it. It seems like the installer is frozen. When I try to run wine installer.msi, I get:
    [d0ublemur@LinuxBox ~/Downloads/EVE_OFFLINE_INSTALLER_FILES]$ wine EVE_Online_Installer_Full_899716.msi

Ok, so I tried the command in the howto like Lone_Wolf suggested, and it gave me the output:
    [d0ublemur@LinuxBox ~/Downloads/EVE_OFFLINE_INSTALLER_FILES]$ wine EVE_Oline_Installer*.exe

I thought that the "Eve_Oline_Installer" was a typo so i tried
    wine Eve_Online_Installer*.exe
    and the same thing happened:

  • [SOLVED] EVE Online won't start after Crucible 1.5 update

Before i start, i'm aware that this would be better off at WineHQ, but i'm technically not asking for help. I'm just wondering if any of you have gotten it running since the update. I already googled the issue and same thing for me as for every other Linux user, The Launcher works fine, but after the splashscreen it just crashes. So if any of you find a fix (or i find a fix, in which case i'll mark this thread as solved) please share it. Oh and i tried one fix that supposedly worked for a few, but i had no luck. (changing the msvcr100 from (native, builtin) to (builtin, native) )
    Any help appreciated
    Edit:
Okay i tried pretty much "everything" and i decided to completely remove and re-install wine (and all directories within) and start from a new install. These are the commands i made.
sudo pacman -Rs wine (first i removed winetricks, wine_gecko, and others requiring wine though)
    rm -rf $HOME/.wine
    rm -f $HOME/.config/menus/applications-merged/wine*
    rm -rf $HOME/.local/share/applications/wine
    rm -f $HOME/.local/share/desktop-directories/wine*
    rm -f $HOME/.local/share/icons/????_*.xpm
Then i reinstalled wine and winetricks.
And I installed these packages using winetricks.
    allfonts
    msxml4
    vcrun2005sp1
    vcrun2008
    vcrun2010
Then simply downloaded and installed the game, and at first i got the same crash error. So i went into winecfg and changed the msvcr100 to (builtin, native) and voila! it works perfectly. I must have had a missing file, or conflicting files or something within wine earlier.
So it's confirmed, this solution DOES work. And if you're in my position, and all else fails, then you know what to do. Hope this helps anyone who happens to be in the position i was.
    Edit II:
Okay so after several patches after the big update, it seems to crash after every one of them, but it's simple to work around. When there's a new patch available follow these simple steps.
    - Change msvcr80/90/100 to (native, builtin) and you will be able to successfully update with the launcher
    - when the update is done, close the launcher, open winecfg and change back msvcr80/90/100 to (builtin, native) and you will be able to launch the game.
This seems to have worked for every patch/update that's released.
Oh and lastly, i also ended up installing d3dx9_43 with winetricks, don't know if that's necessary or not, but nevertheless.

Thanks, I had to change mscvr80 and mscvr90 to (builtin, native) also, but your msvcr100 tip lead me there.  Works well for me now, thank you for sharing your experience.

I read I should install lib32-nvidia-utils(because they were different versions), but this conflicts with lib32-libgl (Which is says to install in the wiki).
When I install lib32-libgl and remove lib32-nvidia-utils I get an error in an alert that says:

Any idea what I should be doing to troubleshoot this?
Thanks for the help in advance guys.

  • Eve online and usb microphone

    Hi guys,
When i tried to use my Plantronics Audio 655 while playing online, it doesn't work
the in-game trouble shooter give me this message : Error Code: 33 The network interface with the best route to the internet does not have a gateway configure
...tried without my router, my firewall is all open but nothing seems to work
    Any idea?
    Thanks,

Cyanide, Welcome to the discussion area!
I would think that message is wrong. I would guess that they give the wrong error code for whatever is happening.
If you don't use the headset everything works?

  • [SOLVED] WINE and Eve Online

First off, I am not using 64bit.
Lately, running Wine and Eve-Online is fine.
However, when I Quit from the game menu...it freezes.
I actually have to x-it-out (the wine window), and a window pops up with
"A simulated logout was in the process and is not responding".. or some such thing
and then I can terminate it and get my desktop back.
I've seen several posts about this, but no resolve.

I compiled this again two-three days ago, and am seeing good effect in EVE in particular, with an nVidia 660, both with and without bumblebee.
I use PlayOnLinux to manage my WINE prefixes. It turns out the 1.7.18-CS-0.8-f1cf438 build is a build of the HEAD of that repository. So I switched to that WINE version, and yes, the problem is solved.
I also created a CSMT-enabling registry key. To do so, launch regedit, browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/Direct3D, right click and select New > String Value “CSMT”. Then, double click and set the string to “enabled”.
    Thank you!
    Neat!
Then the million isk question is, "Why does the CSMT build not display this issue?"
I just might have to put on my scuba gear and go diving into this some more when the schedule permits.

  • XMonad, Wine, and EVE Online

So I have EVE online working in Wine.  The only problem is that voice isn't working, and we use that quite a bit for ops.  Now, it seems my problem is that for some reason EVE isn't picking up any of the hotkeys.  This is a guess based on the fact that I can join voice, and hear other people, but when I hit any of the hotkeys the little speaker doesn't light up next to my name in the chat client.
Considering that I couldn't find anything on the net, I guess this is related to my WM?  Anyone else having this problem?
    Thanks!

I know absolutely nothing about EVE but I play WoW a lot on Ubuntu and Arch Linux.
Are you talking about an in-game voice function, or are you using an application for Vent/TS/Mumble/Somethingelse.

  • Eve online + wine [SOLVED]

I have eve running under wine, the only problem is I want to run two clients in windowed mode.  I set wine to run in desktop mode and set the resolution so that I get a nice windowed eve client. Now, when I run a second instance of eve, wine opens it in the desktop of the first wine window so the second instance covers the first!  Is there a way to open a new instance of the first app in a separate desktop (i.e. with it's own window?)

I tried several months ago to play Eve under wine. I could play but there were some very, very annoying bugs. If i recall correctly, two major issues regarded a double-mouse (as in two cursors being displayed) and the "frame" being a little out of focus....
what i mean by that is, imagine if the image on your monitor moved diagonally towards the top right corner of your screen, so there was a black "L" shape of nothing on the left-hand-side and bottom of your screen. and the mouse "scrolled up into" the top corner (which has now extended beyond your monitor).
Besides that it was completely playable. Perhaps they've fixed these issues, if so i'm going back to playing Eve.
I really have had no issues.  The latest wine works extremely well and I get good performance.  Just be sure to follow the instructions in the appDB for the game over at winehq (need to do some special things like copy over fonts and install the classic client before applying the premium upgrade rather than just installing the premium client off the bat).
