[SOLVED]Flash not working in firefox

Hi,
I have recently installed arch linux and I am a newbie/noob here. As suggested by wiki, I kept a 'builds/' directory in my home folder to install new packages. I first installed flash there, by downloading the '.tar.gz' file from "http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/" However, I accidentally deleted it.
Now, whenever I try to visit youtube, it shows 'An error occured. Please try again.' I reinstalled flash plugin from pacman it, and it is showing as installed now. But still the site is not working. Moreover, when I type 'about:plugins' it shows Shockwave flash and FutureSplash Player, but not adobe flash. Isn't it supposed to show that?
My browser version is 30.0. Please let me know what other information I should supply.

This is the Shockwave testpage. Flash and Shockwave are different things.
You want this: https://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ (there should be an animated flash logo and a box called "Version Information" which displays your flash version)
I went to this site, and it worked. I was testing for the wrong software.. (Feel like a dumbass.)
But thanks!
And about youtube, I don't know why, but this video wasn't working when I checked before. (I love this song.)

I just did "pacman -Syu", and now it works. Don't know why though. I'll mark this thread as solved.

  • Flash not working in Firefox / Windows Update

Flash content is not displaying at all for me in Mozilla
Firefox (1.5.0.3, no extensions). I don't get the "additional
plug-ins are required", and I don't even see the space displayed
that the Flash object would take up on the screen.
Flash content works fine in Internet Explorer and Opera. I
had put this down as a Firefox issue, until the recent Microsoft
Windows Update patch for Flash -- Windows keeps telling me that
there is an update for the Flash player available that I should
install, but the installation fails every time I try it.
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing both Flash and
Firefox, with no luck. Any suggestions on what I might try to clear
this up? Obviously, I could tell Windows (XP SP2, updates current
except this one) to ignore this patch, but I'd rather not do that
if there is a potential security issue. Plus, I'd like to get Flash
    working again with Firefox.

  • Flash not working with Firefox

I have a site built using Dreamweaver and FD24 extensions for the Flash elements.
    http://www.amesis.co.uk/redcard/
Until yesterday everything was fine. Still ok with IE ver 8.0.6001 and both Vista and XP operating systems
    Flash ver 10.0.45.2  installed
However my client cannot see any of the flash images in the header and on the leisure page gallery (just a white box). The front side panel works ok on the home page
He is using Firefox. again ok yesterday. He has tried to reinstall the latest version of flash and received installation successful message.
Using the same PC's he can see if switches to IE
Would appreciate any help in getting this sorted nad what advice I can give him. It is essential that the site works with Firefox so need to resolve.
    Thanks in anticipation
    Ken

Hi ken, If I understand your post, you are wanting help for the Firefox user. And he has installed Flash Player using the FF
    browser.
The first thing would be to (using FF), go to plug-ins and find the SWF plug-in, made sure it is vs 10.0.45.2 and is enabled.
And be sure there is only one listing of the SWF. If there is another listing, it needs removed/deleted.
Also, he can go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Find the Flash folder and post back all files listed there.
If he has installed Flash Player in IE, those files will be there also and the version numbers will be evident. However,
the files for FF will not be. The FF files are NPSWF32.dll and NPSWF32_FlashUtil.exe. Right click on each and then click on
Properties to find the version numbers, which I need.
This is the best way to determine if the Flash Player files that are installed are correct and the FF plug-in is correct.
The IE equivalent to the FF plug-in is in the IE manage add ons and is listed as Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control..
Flash10e.ocx and must be enabled also.
Please let me know if I have not understood your post.
    Thanks,

  • [SOLVED] Flash not working in Luakit

I have the latest flash plugin (v11) but can't get flash to work in luakit on my laptop. When I go to YouTube and try to watch a video I get:
You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video.
Firefox has no problem but I can't be switching browsers every time I want to watch something on YouTube. Flash plays just fine in luakit on my desktop but I can't remember what I did to get it working...
    In my 'globals.lua':

I had a feeling there was some pretty obvious difference between the config files on my desktop and my laptop. Somehow I had a 'www' (not in the default config) in fornt of 'youtube.com', after removing it everything works.
The YouTube rule should look like:
    ["youtube.com"] = {
    ["enable-scripts"] = true,
    ["enable-plugins"] = true,

  • SOLVED Java not working in Firefox

I just did a brand new install 2 days ago and I cannot get java to work in firefox.  Icedtea-web is installed and it shows up in the plugins, but it doesn't work.

edb wrote:First, thanks for the replies and the help.  I upgraded to Icedtea-web version 3 and downgraded to Java 7.  It still doesn't work though.  During the install there was a note that said Icedtea-web-java7 was needed for web support but I was unable to find the package.  Is it still needed?
I was talking about icedtea 3.x for openjdk 8, not icedtea-web 3 (is there icedtea-web 3?). icedtea provides a more opensource-friendly build environment for openjdk and the openjdk7 packages are built using icedtea 2.x (you can see in the version). icedtea 3.x for openjdk8 isn't ready now, so Arch ships the "vanilla" openjdk built directly from Oracle's source. Arch will switch to icedtea as soon as icedtea 3.0.0 releases and then I guess icedtea-web will work with java8-openjdk. icedtea and icedtea-web are totally different things are they always cause a lot of confuse.
You can just install java7-openjdk (it doesn't conflict with java8-openjdk) and switch to java 7 using archlinux-java command at least it works on my machine.

  • Flash not working in Firefox at all

I'm running Firefox 16.0.2. Any pages with Flash tell me that I need to install the missing plugin. I've tried re-downloading the latest Flash Player a few times, uninstalling it from my laptop entirely, reinstalling, etc. and nothing has worked. I've checked and it seems to be working fine in Google Chrome. So, I'm going to assume this is a Firefox-related issue, but how on earth can I fix it? Should I download the previous version of Firefox? Any help is appreciated!

    Please try clean install: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315?tstart=0

  • Flash not working in Firefox 4 beta 11

I haven't managed to get Flash working in ff4 -- I had manually installed the 64bit "alpha" version from:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashplayer10/square/
    by copying it to:
    /usr/lib/mozilla/libflashplugin.so
Which seems to work for ff3 but for ff4b11, no dice. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I found the problem. I had managed to download the 32bit of FF4 (doh!), so there was a conflict. I finally ran Firefox from the commandline and saw some dreaded ELF errors:
    (firefox-bin:14755): Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/immodules/im-ibus.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
    and this tipped me off!
    I downloaded and reinstalled from:
    http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/4.0b11/linux-x86_64/en-US/
Now Firefox4 is running, with Flash, and it screams!

  • Flash drag and drop not working on Firefox for android browser

Drag and drop functionality is not working using Firefox Browser for Android on tablet. We tested with flash action script 2.0 & 3.0 content, both have same issue. Specs of the tab and OS are as follows.
    Android - Kitkat 4.4.2
    Tab models - Lenovo A7600H and Samsung Tab4 T531
Please refer to a previous case raised on the same issue here at this link (Case 1029615) - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1029615
Additionally, we observed that the object on which Drag and Drop event was triggered, is moving little bit when we double tap.
Does Firefox provide any libraries to support Drag and Drop functionality on Flash? We are using Geekoview api to execute flash content in our app. Will the same support be provided in Geekoview as well?
Are there other folks facing the same issue? Is there a solution or workaround to get this feature running?

Flash on Android is no longer supported by Adobe. While Firefox does support basic functionality we mainly focus on legacy video applications. You may run into issues with Flash and Geckoview. I doubt we have any resources to support that configuration.

  • Flash Player 11.3.300.262 Not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.

*Flash Player 11.3.300.262 is not working with Firefox. I think I found the problem.*
Millions of people got off work & turned on there computers recently to discover that Firefox is not playing any videos or flash content. Just like me, millions of people are randomly searching the internet in a futile & frustrating attempt at answers. Unfortunately, many of those people will simply stop using firefox & deem it a glitchy, unreliable browser.
This happened to me a couple days ago. I started up my computer & got a pop-up from Adobe saying that I need to update my flash player to 11.3.300.262. I've always thought of adobe as being a reliable software company, so I clicked on it with confidence that things will be working even smoother. To my horror, I relalized that right after the update, my main browser, firefox was destroyed. Then I went on the frustrating process of uninstalling, re-installing, running virus scan, researching the internet like a lost child. I said to myself, "that's why I hate updating stuff, because updates always seem to change stuff you don't want it to change & there always seems to be a problem with the updates." I usualy update software months after it releases, because microsoft & all the other software companies always seem not to test there stuff properly before releasing them. Then we have to look at a glitchy computer until the next update fixes it. Well, that is my rant. Now let me discuss the problem I found.
    Problem:
What I did was, go into my firefox extentions menu & I disabled the 11.3.300.262 & I re-enabled the previous flash player. After that, everything worked perfect again. Then a today (a week later), I turned on my computer & my firefox wasn't playing any videos or flash content again. I went into my firefox extenions menu again, & I discovered that my old flash player had been deleted, & this new glitchy 11.3.300.262 had been enabled. Why did adobe feel the need to into my computer & automaticly delete & update my flash player. Now it doesn't work. THIS IS REALY FRUSTRATING!
    The Issue I discovered:
"RealPlayer" is the most popular video program & it is installed on millions of computers. For some strange reason Firefox does not want its users to use Real Player. Specifically the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2. I also discovered that my Browser Record Plugin 15.0.2 was automatically disabled when the Adobe 11.3.300.262 was automatically updated also.
    - Maybe this could be because of some copyright conspiracy to keep people from downloading videos from the web.
    - Maybe firefox wants people to use there download add-on instead of RealPlayers downloader.
I don't know what ther reason is. But what I do know is Nobody is going to delete there RealPlayer from there computer just to use FireFox. We can simply use Chrome or Internet explorer. I took the advise from Adobe & disabled the FireFox RealPlayer Extention. I also went into my RealPlayer preferences options, But there was no option to disable download recording from FireFox. BECAUSE I ALREADY DISABLED THE ADD-ON in FireFoxes menu.
    Solution:
Step 1: Adobe needs to update all the computers with the previous flash player. That way we can choose to enable the previous flash player in our FireFox. or wait until a new update fixes the problem with firefox.
Step 2: Adobe & FireFox need to get together & go back to the drawing board. They need to create a update that actually works on computers that have Real Player installed on them. I don't care which company does the update. All I care about is if it works. Thank You.
Oh yea, Im running FireFox 13.0.1, Windows 7, HP computer, Real Player is up to date.

    Hey Chris,
I was able to duplicate this issue on my Windows 7 laptop as follows:
         1)  Completely uninstall FlashPlayer (using your tool) as well as Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Maintenance Service (used Windows 7 - uninstall from Control Panel).  Please note that I checked the box that said "Remove my Firefox personal data and customizations" to ensure that Firefox was completely gone from my laptop.
         2)  I then went out to the Firefox website and downloaded the "Firefox Setup 13.0.1.exe" app to my laptop.  I ran this app to install Firefox.
         3)  I then went to the following website http://www.ishmael.org.uk/karaoke02.php as I know that this URL uses Flash Player (obviously you can go to any URL that uses Flash Player - I'm just letting you know which one I used).  I then clicked on the icon on this page to install Flash Player.
Once the install was completed, the URL stops responding and appears to be locked up (although it will occassionally hiccup and display portions of the page and then lock up again).  You will eventually get a pop-up notice from Firefox that has the header "Warning:  Unresponsive script" and says the following:
A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding.  You can stop the script now, or you can continue to to see of the script will complete.  Script:  chrome://browser/content/browser.js:6551
Selecting "Stop script" will get Firefox working until you hit another page that uses Flash Player.
To ensure that the above URL is not the culprit, I used one from your website http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html and had the same results.
    Hope this info helps!
    Jeff
NOTE:  As a reminder, I do not have RealPlayer installed on my laptop (and never have had it installed)

why does adobe flash not work in my firefox. i have down loaded it several times. it will work in explorer and chrome.

IE uses a different version of Flash than other browsers use. You need to install the Plugin version of Flash for Firefox.
1.Download the Flash setup file from here: <br />
    [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe Adobe Flash - Plugin version]. <br />
Save it to your Desktop.<br />
    2. Close Firefox using File > Exit <br />
then check the Task Manager > Processes tab to make sure '''firefox.exe''' is closed, <br />
    {XP: Ctrl+Alt+Del, Vista: Shift+Ctrl+ESC = Processes tab}
    3. Then run the Flash setup file from your Desktop.

  • Flash Player not working in Firefox

Suddenly Firefox will not play flash player content called

When I click on the link, it opens the game page, but where
the game should appear, I see a blank black box. When I click on
the "Play online game" link I also get a large empty black box.
I am running Windows XP on an HP Pavilion ze2315us laptop. I

    Reinstalled Firefox.
Set folder options to use Firefox to open SWF files
