[SOLVED] GCC configuration file?
Hi all,
I understand that the /etc/makepkg.conf file has settings for makepkg. I am looking for the file that configures GCC, so that when I compile anything from source I can have the correct settings applies (such as -march, -mtune, etc.).
I've searched but can't find a location for this file. I bet I'm missing the obvious here...

My advice would be: modify a PKGBUILD, as this can save you lots of headache. After all, PKGBUILD is in 50% exactly what you do on command line, but additionally creates a package that conforms with the distro standards.
Maybe you're right and I should use this as an excuse to finally learn how to make a PKGBUILD of my own

[SOLVED] List of configuration files of a package.
Some files belonging to a package are treated as configuration files (management of *.pacnew and *.pacsave). How can I have the list of files belonging to a package that pacman consider as configuration files?
[Edited] @tomk: Thanks, didn't have in mind that I had to insist with the -i option -:)

[solved] trying to figure out BASH configuration files
I am trying to figure out where to properly place commands in the many stated/existing BASH configuration files —reading the wiki and the man page I see there are what at first glance are too many files:
from: http://www.gnu.org/software/bash/manual … rtup-Files
invoked as an interactive login shell or with --login:
1. executes /etc/profile
2. executes-first-one-of-the-following: ~/.bash_profile
2. executes-first-one-of-the-following: ~/.bash_login
2. executes-first-one-of-the-following: ~/.profile
from: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/bash#Configuration
configuration file sourcing order at startup ... by default in arch:
/etc/profile (indirectly) sources /etc/bash.bashrc
/etc/skel/.bash_profile (which users are encouraged to copy to ~/.bash_profile) sources ~/.bashrc
which means that /etc/bash.bashrc and ~/.bashrc will be executed for all interactive shells whether they are login shells or not
It isn't clear to me what exactly means file#1 "indirectly sources" file#2: including ? append target file ? use file#2 instead of file#1 ?
It isn't clear either if ~/.bash_login and/or ~/.bash_logout are ignored (or not) in arch
so /etc/profile should be the (preferred) system-wide configuration file ?
so ~/.bash_profile should be the (preferred) user-specific configuration file ?
If so, does it means I should delete /etc/bash.bashrc (this is where I currently have system-wide commands) in favor of (ie: moving the content to) /etc/profile ?

Ziusudra wrote:As the Wiki states ...
I am fully aware of what the wiki is stating —I even included the link in my first post. The problem is not that I am not aware of what it is stating, it is just I don't understand it and thus my post to begin with. More precisely; this highlighted line:
Note: /etc/bash.bashrc is non-standard, only some distributions like Arch Linux have this included because packagers have added a -DSYS_BASHRC="/etc/bash.bashrc" flag at compilation time, in order to have a system bashrc file.
which clearly states /etc/bach.bashrc is non-standard was the first hint to me that these files were legacy/going-to-be-deprecated/something-like-this (my assumption) in favor of newer (my assumption) /etc/profile and ~/.bash_profile
Maybe I am asking some obvious question (this is why I am asking it in the newbie corner) but please, have in mind that for someone coming from the Windows world some things/concepts are totally alien at first sight, for eg: in Windows you start Powershell and you have one (only one) place to set your configuration options and the like. Here I am offered with:
• 2 possible system-wide files: /etc/profile and /etc/bash.bashrc
• 2 possible user-specific files: ~/.bash_profile and ~/.bashrc
• 1 possible user-specific files: ~/.bash_login (and ~/.bash_logout)
... so I have (at least) 5 different places to execute commands upon login.
I was carefully reading all the files present on my current installation and now I understand what "indirectly sourced" means: including (if the file is present just insert it here)
I still don't understand what commands should be placed in which file; for eg: system-wide aliases should be placed in /etc/profile or in /etc/bash.bashrc ?
One more time, I am not a rocket-scientist nor I am a dummy, but the wiki just states file precedence without offering any details as best practices or something like that and just figure out: that for such a basic-thing I am getting different answers from two users (someone with 6000+ posts) ... either one: or the wiki is not clear or this thing is a little more complex than it seems at first sight ... just my thought.
Anyway, needless to say, thank you both for your time and patience. -

Kde4 configuration files problem ... [solved]
This is what's going on: I start the kde session (I log in as user via kdm) and everything seems to be fine ...for a while! Then suddenly I'm starting to get messages such as "Configuration file /home/tbuta/.kde4/share/config/konquerorrc" not writable for just about everything I try to open - dolphin, konqueror, konsole, ksysguard, etc
I checked the permissions and everything seems fine - the files and folders are still owned by the user/group
Anyway, I tried a sudo chown -R for the user home folder and I'm getting a "chown: changing ownership of `/home/tbuta': Read-only file system". So I'm thinking if as I said above, the file permissions are actually ok, and I'm getting a "Read-only file system" when I'm trying to chown, it seems to me that somehow the home folder becomes read only in the middle of my kde session?? It's getting exasperating ... if I can't fix this soon, I'm afraid I'll have to leave kde for now ...
Last edited by zamolxis (2008-08-10 23:23:35)This is REALLY annoying - the problem is back ... I just don't understand what's causing it.
Another thing I noticed is that now for some "non-pure-kde" apps such as firefox, skype - if they were open and then closed, when I try to reopen them again I'm getting a message that an istance is already running (although I can't see any firefox or skype, etc via ksysguard - and a killall command gives me the "no process killed message"...)
Also, when the problems start, if I try to log out of kde and log back in - it won't let me. Once I log out I can't log back in - it gets stuck on the kde splash screen. Trying to restart kdm will also fail. However, if I reboot the computer, I can log in as usual and work for a while .... until everything goes crazy again!
The only other problem I noticed is that there seems to be something wrong with preload. And a /etc/rc.d/preload restart always has somehow "strange" results. Could the two be related?

[SOLVED] gcc-4.6 cannot find -lgcc
I am trying to get the MSP430 development toolchain (gcc-msp430, msp430-libc, msp430-binutils, msp430mcu, mspdebug) installed in a fresh Arch Linux install.
For this I need gcc46, because gcc-msp430 doesn't build with GCC 4.8. I successfully built gcc46 from AUR using the PKGBUILD from here, but it cannot compile anything, not even a Hello World program:
/tmp $ gcc-4.6 -o hello hello.c
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lgcc
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
I tried the PKGBUILDs from here, which are recommended in the AUR page for gcc-msp430, but still doesn't work.
What to do?

Can you help me ? -
[SOLVED] gcc: error: unrecognized command line option '-V'
Hi.. this is my first post but I always read the forum to solve my problem! ;) thank you to all!!!! sorry for my bad english in advanced...
This is my problem:
I have Archlinux x86_64 with Gnome (last version).
I try to install the driver for my printer epson sx218 but when I compile the bash show:
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for C compiler default output file name...
configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables
See `config.log' for more details.
now, I see the config.log file and I see the line:
gcc: error: unrecognized command line option '-V'
my makepkg.conf:

I updated the PKGBUILD to remove the line that says 'gcc -V >&5' from the configure file
libtoolize
sed -i 's/gcc -V >&5//' configure
chmod +x configure
but it still doesn't build:

libtoolize: Consider adding `AC_CONFIG_MACRO_DIR([m4])' to configure.ac and

when i comes to the Configuration file in that
my DSN path is empty no input code is there in that DSN tags
<DSN>
<DSN/>
it shows the empty tags,
and my Current Report Server Report Credentials are Windows,Service account credentails
will it take the problem or what
We have repair the BIDS setup also still not able to solve my issue.
once this is resolved now able to send the emails using subscriptions.
pls infom abut this , i have sufferd this problem last 20 days.
Please update the above query with high priority
TanQHi Ychinnari,
According to your description, you found error in log file of reporting services, when you come to rsreportserver.config file, the DSN tag is empty.
DSN specify the database server that hosts the report server database connection string. The report server database is created, this value will be encrypted and added to the configuration file. To solve the problem, we need to connect to either an
existing report server database or create a new one for this instance. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
Start the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and connect to the report server instance for which you are creating the database.
On the Database page, click Change Database.
We can create a new report server database or select an existing database, then click Next.
Connect to the instance of the Database Engine that you will use to create and host the report server database.
Specify properties used to create the database.
Specify the credentials used by the report server to connect to the report server database.
Review the information on the Summary page to verify the settings are correct, and then click Next.
Verify the connection by clicking a URL on the Report Server URL page or Report Manager URL page.
For detail information about Configure a Report Server Database Connection, please refer to the following document:
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159133.aspx
If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

How to create a configuration file for open ldap.
hi,
I have installed open ldap on my machine. Now I want to configure it to NetWeaver.
For this, I started configuration through configtool utility of NetWeaver. While configuring, we need to select or upload configuration file. But now as it is open ldap we need to write our own config file.
I tried it by selecting dataSourceConfiguration_ads_deep_readonly_db.xml as a configuratio file. it shows successful test connection but the user which I have created is not appearing in UME store.
Does any body having solution for this?
I am trying to solve this problem from two days. I really appriciate one who will sove this problemWell the configuration file you chose does not allow users created in NetWeaver to be created in the LDAP. That's why it's a "readonly" configuration. I would guess that you need a custom configuration file specifically for open ldap.
This should help get you started on a custom configuration file:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/b7/14d43f2dd44821e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
Then again, if the only problem with the .XML file you chose is that you can't write to the LDAP, give the dataSourceConfiguration_ads_writeable_db.xml configuration file a shot. -

Edited by: 925410 on Jul 2, 2012 10:36 PMHi,
Open your application module ->configuration then click on the link of bc4j.xcfx
when it is open check the path of your bc4j file which will be show on the title bar when u open the bc4j.xcfx file.
match that path and your error path sourly it will not be match .Now open your project from program file ond copy the bc4j.xcfx and past it here(..../dbentities/common/bc4j.xcfg (at same path where it showed in error )) now again reopen your project then do clean and build all after that your problem will b solved. But carefully the path will have to same as show in your log. -

I am trying to consume a base model which is available in the Customer.jws (AppCmmnCompActivitiesPublicModelActivityManagement) to my Mobile UI project available in Sales.jws (SalesMobilePublicUi). We have added proper Databindings.cpx entry for accessing the applicationModule present in the model.
On deploying the sales mobile app, I get the following ConfigException:
JBO-33001: Configuration file /oracle/apps/crmCommon/activities/activityManagementService/applicationModule/common/bc4j.xcfg is not found in the classpath.
The bc4j.xcfg mentioned in the above path actually contains the entry. On checking about this issue, I found out that the prominent solution would be model project should be added as Dependencies to the UI project. But the UI is in different workspace (Sales.jws) and so the list of dependencies shown are those of this workspace only, whereas the model is present in Customer.jws and it does not come under the dependencies list.
How can this issue be resolved? Please let me know any pointers on solving this issue.Build an adfLibrary from the model in the Customers.jws and add this adfLibrary to the other ui project. This will get you the dependency.

As default, SPA122 and SPA112 have DHCP Options 66, 160, 159 and 150 turned on.
Our pre-provisioning process includes adding our default profile rule to our provisioning server for the device to pull its configuration files once the device has been added to an account.
However, it seems like some customers have had problems with the device downloading the definite configuration file and manually turning off option Option 66 in the provisioning tab in the device solves this issue.
Is there any option we could add to our pre-provisioning file so that it removes 66 from the "DHCP Option to Use" field in the provisioning tab?
Please advise...Thanks Dan,
I didn't know the dhcp server could serve different options to different classes of clients, I'll have to look that up!

so if your provisioning file has this line below (this is from a spa5xx config I had in my temp folder, so use the line from your provisioning file, or use the SPC tool to create a new default config for that device type)

Can I have one configuration file for all the packages I have created, So that changing server name will change all packages server names?
If yes, help me out in doing it.
Thanks,
Sri
sreeConfig file has to be deployed separately. You can share config files across packages so far as connections/ items are all similar. While using config files its best to use indirect configuration so as to determine file location dynamically at runtime
