[Solved] Gimp Refocus plugin installs but doesn't run
Hello,
I have just installed the gimp-refocus package (not the refocus-it version), it installs just fine with pacman, but when starting gimp from the command line I see the following error:
(gimp:3412): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: gimp_wire_read(): error
/home/drtebi/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins/refocus: error while loading shared libraries: libblas.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
As a result, the refocus plugin does not show up anywhere.
Can anybody give me a clue as to what is missing?
I am running Arch Linux x86_64 with a pacman -Suy of today.

Solved...
It turned out that lapack and blas were not installed.
I think the package maintainer should be notified about this, but I am not sure how this is done (I am fairly new in the Arch Linux world). I am happy to report this if someone tells me how to

Flashplayer plugin installs but doesn't seem to run. Windows 7 X 64 - Firefox 28 - Flashplayer 13
Due to a power problem I had to reinstall Windows 7 X 64 so this is a clean install only a few days old. I installed Firefox 28 as administrator and recovered my bookmarks from the mirrored disk which had undamaged files but a non-repairable operating system. I installed several plugins which had heretofore worked properly including the Flash-player plugin. This is the file name of the install script I downloaded from the Adobe download site: install_flashplayer13x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe. That tells me it is the 32 bit version so it should be the right one.
Everything works but the Flash-player. All the plugins had been installed as administrator. No glitches or anything unusual happened during the install. Everything seemed to work OK until I visited YouTube and it told me I needed to install Flash-player. Facebook doesn't like my Firefox browser for the same reason.
I have gone through the forums and the install procedures (removed Firefox completely from the system & re-installed it according to the instructions) and have no solution so far. It had been working before the power problems caused the operating system crash but I do not remember the Firefox version or the Flash-player versions I had been using.
Any help you can give would be appreciated. I am missing something but so far haven't discovered what it is.

InDesign CS 3 installs but doesn't run - doesn't ask for serial number-Windows 7
Our InDesign CS3 worked perfectly with Win XP, but we upgraded to Windows 7 recently, and though it installs, it never asks for a serial number, and when I try to open the program - though it appears as a running process, it does not open.

Jalbum package in AUR installs but doesn't run... anyone else confirm
I've been using BlackEagle's jalbum package in the AUR for a while now. For no apparent reason, I can no longer run the java app. The splash screen loads but then disappears after about 2 sec. If I run it from a shell, I get the following:

Sorry I should read things more carefully! java-environment should be replaced by java-runtime. Only that is needed to run jalbum. And in fact it must be sun's jre, because with openjdk6 ther are the before mentioned problems
Without the change in PKGBUILD you would have to install jdk too.
This is what is happening: jre provides only java-runtime. jalbum with depends=('java-environment') in its PKGBUILD forces you to have either jdk or openjdk6 installed, since these are the packages that provide java-environment. So pacman searches for that. Most if not people have [extra] before [community] in their pacman.conf, so the first thing that pacman finds and that provides java-environment is openjdk6.
Also installing jdk before installing jalbum would do the trick. But jalbum does not really need it.

Any decleration within your package will not be recognised unless initialisation is sucessful.

my adobe captivate6 installs but does not run on my windows7 dell inspiron with 4gb ram and 500gb hdsk, i downloaded the trial first 32bit and it installed fine and didnt run. so i thought that a full version with a 64bit installation will do the trick, but after that the captivate 6 did not still work on my system. i also tried it on an acer with duo core and the captivate software installed and did not still work. it only shows the captivate flash screen.
a friend installed his on an acer laptop 64bit, i3processor, and it works fine. please i will be glad if i can be helped on how to correct this
thanksHave you tried right clicking on the Cp icon and selecting Run as Administrator? This is something you MUST do in Win7 but was not necessary on Xp.

Creative Cloud Update downloads, installs but doesn't work?
Every time I launch my computer (Mac, latest OS), I see there are 9 updates available to download for Adobe CC. Every time I update a single app or everything, it downloads, installs but nothing is actually done. When I get info on apps. everything still shows as 12.0 as if it has not been updated. When I restart the computer again, i get the message that there are still 9 updates available to download. This is an endless cycle and no matter how many times I "Update All", it will continue to download, install but nothing actually gets updated.
I've fixed disk permissions, deleted preferences and allowed read/write access to all the Adobe folders and it's still not working.

Serial number installs, but doesn't register
Just purchased CS6 today from an online merchant. Downloaded CS6, used the serial number they provided, and it installed properly.
Went to adobe.com to register with my Adobe ID, and get that it is in invalid serial number. Chat with Adobe support, they say it is a volume serial number, and can't be registered to my Adobe ID.
Chat with the online merchant, and they say it is issued through Adobe's TLP (transactional licensing program), and is a valid, registered serial number.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Part of my concern is with the upcoming Lightroom/Photoshop CC offer, I'm probably going to need to prove to Adobe that I own Photoshop CS6, and I'm not sure how I am going to do that. Thanks.I talked to two tiers of Adobe support, second tier said they couldn't do anything, but also couldn't tell me if it was a legal license or not.
Response from the vendor was they are using Adobe's TLP, and issuing legal licenses.
Adobe shop is still selling PS CS6 at full retail.
Really feels like Adobe direct sales, indirect sales, licensing, support and web registration aren't talking to each other, and there isn't a common set of rules across them.
You're right, I'll probably have to wait until the LR/PS deal goes live Tuesday, and use that to get some resolution from all the parties. But doesn't leave a very good customer experience. (Actually, didn't mention the infinite loop on the web page from trying to do "Complete/Update Adobe ID", the fact that Adobe's download page doesn't work with IE, or that the requested email to [email protected] got an "out of office" auto response.)

I have recently purchased the finale 2011 music program, and it installs without any problems, but will not run when I try to start up the program. It acts like it is going to start, but stops when loading the plugins. I have been talking with Finale tech support for three days, and they are coming up empty, but they are still trying. Any ideas what the problem might be?

ITunes installs but does not run on Windows 7 64-bit
I've spent a couple hours going over advice on this forum as well as elsewhere on the Internet to resolve this. iTunes installs without a problem but when we run it, nothing appears. iTunes.exe *32 and iTunesHelper.exe *32 appear in the Windows Task Manager but there is no other evidence that iTunes is running.
I've tried installing and reinstalling. I've tried a number of different compatibility settings. Surely there must be an easy way to resolve this.

FLASH PLAYER INSTALLS BUT WILL NOT RUN
I have installed Flash Player multiple times. The installation indicates it was successful, the Control Panel and list of programs installed indicate that the program is present but when I run a web site that requires it, I get a message that I need to install it. The Adobe Flash Player Help does not indicate that it is installed.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium , 32 bit; service pack 1; IE 9.0.8112 The computer is a Dell Laptop with Intel (R) core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.0 GHz 2.00 GHz with 3.00GB RAM. Under Internet Options, I disabled Protective Mode and restarted the computer. Flash Player did not work. I then removed Flash Player using Windows uninstall via the Control Panel. I reloaded Flash Player with Protective mode still off. After Flash Player successfully loaded, I turned Protective mode back on ( I didn’t want to run in unprotected mode) I restarted the computer and Flash Player worked and has been ever since. Java 1.5_16 Compiles my programs but doesn't Run?
I am using Dr Java and I have a lot of old programs that I would like to run.
I had to start over and re-download the Java JDK. I tried 1.6.7 but I got an error that it couldn't
locate the source, so I went back to Java 1.5.16, which was the oldest version I could find on java.,
and now my programs are compiling but when I run them, I get a message in the bottom bar
"Running Main method of Current Document" and nothing happens (even after a few minutes).
This is happening on very simple small programs that should run instantly.
It is happening for all of the old programs that I am able to compile.
I think I was using JDK 1.5.6 when I first wrote these programs.
Any suggestions?

JesiYou're probably "running" one of the classes that doesn't produce any output. The main() method is intended to be an application's entry point, not someplace you just cram all your code. You'll want to learn about methods and how objects communicate with each other. Have a look at the following:

Software installs but will not run
The software installs but when you try to open it the window flashes on the screen for a split second and then goes away. Has anyone seen this problem before? Please help!
My anti virus was already disabled. I uninstalled Quick Time and made sure there was nothing else running like a fire wall or anything. I tried to install it again and it would install the ipod but not the itunes.
I installed everything on a second computer and it went off without a hitch.
Any ideas?? -
Trial version of Photoshop Elements 9 installed but doesn't run.
I recently installed Photoshop Elements 9 on computer running Windows 7 and it installed correctly. When I try to run edit or organzer the flashing bar starts but neither program runs. Adobe support wouldn't help since it was a trial version. Any suggestions?
Try making a direct desktop icon for the Organizer and see if you can launch the program directly from the desktop.
On Windows right click anywhere on the desktop and select New >> Shortcut
Browse to Computer OS C:
And find the PSE Organizer application in Program Files or Program Files (x86) on Windows 7 - 64 bit.
Inside the Adobe >> Photoshop Elements Organizer (yellow folder) you are looking for an application file “PhotoshopEementsOrganizer” with six small icons (e.g. representing thumbnails)
Select it and click OK
Click next
Rename by taking out Photoshop Elements leaving just the word Organizer
Then click finish
You should now be able to launch directly form the desktop by double clicking on the icon.
You can set up a similar direct link to the Editor application (.exe file which has the blue PSE icon). As before take out Photoshop Elements just leaving the description Editor and it will show up clearly on the desktop.
It often helps if you right click on a desktop icon and choose “Run As administrator”

When I run software update it runs and then says that all software is up to date. I don't have an option to install the app store.. Is there any other way to install it?
