[SOLVED] Gnome Epiphany 3.14 via eduroam, cannot load secure webpages

Hi
My problem is the following: everytime I try to load a secure webpage (https) in epiphany 3.14 the browser responds with "Oops! Unable to display this website." and "Peer failed to perform TLS handshake". Unsecure pages load normally. This problem only occurs when I am connected to the internet using eduroam (in other wireless networks the secure pages load normally). With other browsers all pages (secure and unsecure) load normally using eduroam.
Thanks,
Ricardo Fernandes

  • MBSA 2.2 Cannot load security CAB file

    Hello everyone!
I'm trying to run MBSA 2.2 with the following command but it ends with "Cannot load security CAB file" error in Windows 7 client. Windows XP works fine:
    @ECHO OFF
    mkdir %windir%\temp\mbsa\
    copy mbsa %windir%\temp\mbsa\
    %windir%\temp\mbsa\mbsacli.exe /xmlout /wi /nvc /nd /catalog %windir%\temp\mbsa\wsusscn2.cab >>
    \\fileshare\MBSA_Reportsssssss.xml
    rmdir /s /q %windir%\temp\mbsa\
MBSA folder includes all the needed files: mbsacli.exe, wsusscn02.cab & wusscan.dll. Remote Registry, Server, Windows Update & Workstation services are running + File and Printer Sharing service is enabled. This is a fresh Win7 install
with the latest Windows Update Agent.
If I run the command line without the variables (mbsacli.exe /xmlout /wi /nvc /nd /catalog wsusscn2.cab >> MBSA_Reportsssssss.xml) in the correct folder I get that same error. I've also deleted & re-downloaded/copied the cab file
just in case if it got corrupted during the first copy.
Are there any other requirements in Win7 to get this work locally with mbsacli.exe?
    Thanks!

Can you explain how you fixed your user rights to get access? I keep getting access denied when I run this simple script even as a DA
    mbsacli /listfile <D:\wsus>\Servers.txt /n os+iis+sql+password

  • Using MBSA 2.2 getting error 'Cannot load security CAB file" when attempting to scan any remote systems

Could scan all remote servers previously from same sources and version.  Replaced/updated all cabs and other files associated (C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\MBSA\Cache) with no change.  Removed/re-installed
    MBSA 2.2 with not effect.
Local scans appear to function fine, but do not wish to download MBSA on EVERY system we need to scan.
Settings for remote scan are: Check for security updates>Configure computers for Microsoft

    options:>Scan using
    Microsoft Update only
Have attempted from different systems/OS's, with same results.  Checked firewall for any blocked traffic from both host and scanner, no entries.
Checked Technet/blogged for about two hours, without any positive results. Please advise/assist.

Thank you for sending this to the MBSA forums!
If you haven't already, you may want to check the MBSA FAQ located here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/cc184922 specifically under the sections titled, "How can I scan a computer that is protected by a firewall" (to resolve potential DCOM connectivity issues), and "When attempting to scan a remote machine,
why do I see the error 'Cannot deploy security metadata?"
This is also a very misleading error message since the problem could be due to connectivity to the target (client) machines - nothing relating to the CAB file.  In any circumstance, you should not need to install MBSA on all of the target machines to
    successfully assess their security state.
    Possible solutions include
Confirm the latest WUA client is installed on all target machines (with the files you've already placed in the cache directory, you can simply check the scan option to "Configure computers for Microsoft
Update and scanning prerequisites" - which will update and re-register each target machine with the latest WUA client and the ability to respond to requests from MBSA.
Check whether the target machines have limited disk space (unlikely)
Check DCOM settings on both the server - but more likely due to the failure to remotely scan - the target machines.
Change the scan options to further troubleshoot.  Specifically, 'Check for security updates' option uses a DCOM connection to the target WUA client while the other scan settings 'Check for weak passwords, etc." use specific UDP/TCP ports as indicated
in the System Requirements section of the MBSA help file and the MBSA FAQ.  Also use the 'Advanced Update Services options' to determine whether WSUS connectivity may be at issue.
Please let me know if that helps.

  • Firefox cannot load multiple webpages at once, especially apps without crashing.

Firefox doesn't load webpages, especially when tabs are pinned. It cannot connect to more than one site at a time, especially if pandora is playing. Instead of crashing, all I see is spinning gray circles.
Also, startup is the worst, I cannot get 4 pinned tabs to load. I am going back to Internet Explorer, ugh.

You need to use file:// as the protocol instead of C:/. The latter may never work (C:\ might).
Where is the main HTML located ?
Easiest if to store the images in a sub folder of the location because you can't go back via ../ beyond that root location for security reasons.

  • After update to Firefox 9 the browser cannot load any webpage.

When I try to visit any webpage there is an error message saying that Firefox cannot connect to the server and suggesting that I check the internet connection, regardless of what webpage I try to visit. I am using Internet Explorer right now to be able to report this problem...

Thanks! After rebooting and updating Norton Internet Security the problem was fixed.

  • I cannot load any webpages unless I am on wifi

Just as the subject says. I was sitting in my house and figured id test it so I turned off Wifi was connected to edge and I get a message that the server cannot be reached and help would be greatly apprecieted. Thanks

    Hello Chris.
So your saying when WiFi is on. Things with Safari work great? What about Stocks? Weather? Youtube? do they all work on your WiFi?
Also when you do Switch to EDGE have you tried visiting multiple websites and get the same error?
Have you also tested Youtube? Weather? Stocks? as they use WiFi and EDGE.
In most cases if EDGE is not working you get no E icon, or you get an EDGE error message of some sort.
Has EDGE ever worked for you? or in your issue. Has Safari ever worked on EDGE?
Thank you for any more info you can provide so we can better assist you.

  • [SOLVED] New Install of Gnome 3.2 doesn't feel like loading

    Greetings,
Before making this post, I have spent the majority of the day trying to solve this issue. I have switched from nvidia drivers to nouvela (sp?) drivers, incase that was the issue. I have scoured google, arch-wiki, and the forums until my eyes have bled. I have dug through the xsession-errors log to search out any missing components that might be causing this... but to no avail. If anything, trying to run and try Gnome 3.2 has made me feel like a complete idiot, who has obviously learnt nothing after years of using linux. So, I come here hoping that some one can point me to the solution my brain cannot itself come up with.
    Here the situation:
I have been running KDE4 for quite some time happily. I have ran Gnome 3 back in its beginning days succesfully as well, but that was an older, now dead, pc. Having seen some neat little things about the new Gnome 3.2, I got an itch to give it a try. So, I go and follow the Gnome article on the excellent arch wiki- installing both gnome and gnome extras, letting it grab everything, change from kdm to gdm, and reboot.
Well, it gives me the old gdm I remember from the early gnome 3 days (wasn't this changed) despite it showing that it is GDM 3.2 via pacman. It shows my user name, lets me put my password, and shows the stripped background. One thing to note is that the cursor remains a clock face, never changing to a pointer.
I log in, choosing GNOME, all that remains is the wallpaper, with the clockface cursor, no pointer. I go take the kids to the bus stop, come back apx. 20 min. later, no change.
Ok, bug crushing time right? So I go through the steps. I make sure that gnome shell is indeed installed. I remove any config files (there weren't any), remove gnome shell, reinstall. No go. I rinse and repeat, but removing & reinstalling different things, such as GDM, and even gnome completely. No go.
Hopping into pekwm, I search. I make copies of the xsession-errors each time, and load them in pekwm after a reboot, looking through with pacman by myside to make sure I have any possible missing files. And finally after failure after failure I give up, and come here.
So, here's my xsession-errors log. Please, if anyone can help, or even offer any kind of suggestion that might spark something in my brain to get me going in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it. If this thread needs moved, merged, etc, please do so... I've searched the forums, but now my brain is numb, so yeah...

Ok, I guess all it took was for me to post this to wake up and be able to solve the issue.
It is simple really. I just needed to re-install libltdl.
So, for those searching, if you get this similar problem,
    pacman -S libltdl
is what solved it for me.

  • [Solved?] VLC won't play audio -- cannot set buffer duration

I can't play sound in VLC. I have tried the default and the ALSA outputs. I know ALSA works, because mpg123, speaker-test, and rdesktop's sound all work. (Saying that, I can't tell if mpg123 uses alsa or not - rdesktop does though)
Attempting to play something in VLC gives me some rather cryptic errors. What follows is the output of "vlc -v" and an attempt to play a video with sound. I have split the "code"-tag just before the actual error output for clarity and ease of scanning.

I have no idea where to start with this issue, I've tried googling but it seems that only one person has ever had this issue before (if Google is to be considered a reputable source), and he was running his own VLC build. I am running the build "pacman -S vlc" gave me. If anyone could point me in the right direction on this issue I'd be grateful.
Edit: This is my /etc/asound.conf. I have no idea what any of this means, at this point it's fill-in-the-blanks wiki copypasta (Edit2: The purpose of this file is to try to stop alsa from sending all my sound through a disconnected HDMI instead of the speakers)

    Situation update:
    1. I didn't need my asound.conf like that -- I should have used pulseaudio in the first place, I was unaware that ALSA does not allow more than one program to use the sound device at the same time, whereas pulseaudio is used to mix sounds.
    2. VLC works fine on PulseAudio. No idea why it failed on ALSA!

  • [solved]cannot load font dzen2

hello. I was able to apply space for a bottom gap for DWM. I am trying to get dzen2 and conky to show up at the bottom. I have conky-cli installed as well.
error: dzen: error, cannot load font: '-*-terminus-medium-r-*-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*'
here is my $HOME/.bin/dzconky (i did chmod a+x it)
    #! /bin/sh
    FG='#aaaaaa'
    BG='#1a1a1a'
    FONT='-*-terminus-medium-r-*-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*'
    conky | dzen2 -e '' -ta c -fg $FG -bg $BG -fn $FONT -x 0 -y 1008
also will this work to load dzen2 at startup?
    this is in my xinitrc
    #dzconky
    sh /home/hei/.bin/dzconky&

Do you have that font? maybe you need to run

Ah that worked. However now it seems the dzen bar appears on the top where my DWM bar is.
edit: here is my conkyrc in case that helps, it appears changing the x and y doesn't change much.

  • [Solved] Gnome 3 Shell - Icons Missing After Update

After my last update session, some icons went missing in Gnome. Even more unsettling, only some are missing. From what I can tell, my application icons haven't gone anywhere, but things such as minimize, restore, close, etc. are 404. Here's a photo to explain: https://vps.nullh.net/uploads/gnome-icon-issue.png I also noticed nvidia is included in the last update. I searched the forums, but all of the other problems seemed to be different problems (e.g. application icons were all bunched up/missing, desktop icons "missing", etc.) I feel like I should probably have more icons in the folders, too, but I haven't looked in there before the problem to be sure. Also, Alt+F2 "r" doesn't make a difference, the shell reloads but the icons are still AWOL. If anyone has any ideas, I am all ears.
