[SOLVED] GNOME + play icon has changed

After the latest gnome updates (gnome-icon-theme 3.2.1-1), i noticed my play button (in my uber-cool Goggles Music Manager) looked funny. The  play icon (shaped like an arrow) used to always point to the right, it now has changed directions and points to the left instead. You can see for yourself:
/usr/share/icons/gnome/48x48/actions/media-playback-start.png
I wonder why and if I'm the only one annoyed by this...
Edit: Was fixed in gnome-icon-theme-3.2.1.2-1

  • IPhoto Library icon has changed

Yesteday, I updated my iMac (Late 2009) to Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and installed the newest version of iPhoto (9.4.1).
All seemed to be working well until a few hours ago. Things I have noticed:
    1)  The iPhoto Library icon has changed to a pink flower (although the iPhoto application icon and the iPhoto dock icon have stayed at the usual (sun/camera/palm tree).
    2)  iPhoto is taking about 12 seconds to quit (I have about 8,000 photos)
    3)  Keywords is behaving strangely - some photos have keywords attached to them which I haven't put there (some of the time) and sometimes the keyword list (command K) shows up with none of my keywords.
    4) This one might be my imagination but the font used for the folders/albums looks a bit different than it used to.....!
    Hope someone can help!
    Regards

1 and 4: Nothing unusual there, Apple change these things around from time to time.
    2 and 3:
    Back up.
    Option 1
Try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    Regards

  • My iPhoto hasn't upgraded at all, just the icon has changed, but the all graphic hasn't changed, whats the problem ?

My iPhoto hasn't upgraded at all, just the icon has changed, but the all graphic hasn't changed, whats the problem ?

I'm having the same problem...it says that it upgraded (it says iPhoto 9.5 when I go into 'About iPhoto') and the new features seem to be there (when I click on share, I have the new option of ordering photo's like it shows in the pictures on the site, ordering a photo album, etc), but the main user interface is still the old one. Instead of having the new buttons on the bottom for Events, Faces, etc, I still have all of those on the old toolbar on the lefthand side...so confused haha.

  • Home folder icon has changed ??

My home folder icon has changed from the house to a folder with an applications symbol on it??? The name is still the same(my name)
Can I change it back??? And if so this won't effect any programmes etc will it? Have read somewhere that you should never re name the home folder???

    GavRich79,
You should be able to, get info on your home folder. Click on it then type Command + i, you will see a little icon in the top left click it and press the delete key. Although I am curious to why it has changed?
No it shouldn't effect your programs, and No you should never rename your home folder. If there are any changes to any of your programs what would happen is they would act like they did the first time you opened them. All customizations would not exist as well as all content you added would be gone.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

  • Indesign File Icon has changed to generic looking icon

I just upgraded to Adobe Indesign CC and now all of my file icons have turned into a white, generic-looking icon.  Can anyone tell me how to get the icon to look like the Indesign icon again?  Thanks in advance.
    David

I have a similar question.  We installed ID CS6 a few weeks ago, and when looking at files, I could determine which version of ID to open the files in by the different icons for CS4 and CS6.  Overnight, all of my icons have changed to a white box with a purple/pink square with ID in the middle, no matter which version the files were saved in.  Because we have to proofread any documents that move from CS4 to CS6 before using them (and don't have the time to do that with each document), it was very helpful to know which version to open the file in before opening it and finding that it was opened with the wrong version and having to start over again.  We are on Windows 7 PCs.  Any help you could give us would be appreciated.  We still have both versions of ID on our PCs.  Here is a screen shot that might help:

  • Photoshop 7's icon has changed to a document icon

After installing Tiger on my iBook (and using Software Update to upgrade to the latest version), I am no long able to open Photoshop. The applications icon has been replaced with another application's document icon!
Specifically, Photoshop's application icon has been replaced by a MacHacha document icon, and "Get Info" claims that it is a MacHacha file. The version line still identifies it as Version 7.0.1, it is a 53 MB file, and I know it is Adobe Photoshop. It is a legal copy, and I am the owner. It just seems like Tiger has replaced the icon. And of course, it's not recognized as an application, so I can't run Photoshop, and I desperately need to!
I've run Disk Utility on my drive, both from the drive itself and after starting up from my OSX Installation dvd. I've repaired all permissions.I've used Onyx to run all the daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance scripts that OSX uses. I've also deleted all the log files and caches. I tried deleting the whole Adobe Photoshop 7 folder with the application and other files inside, emptying the trash, and reinstalling. The application icons were screwed up again. I did what this posting on the Adobe Forums suggested:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx?50@@.3bbbf896
repairing permissions and running the CRON scripts before and after installing Photoshop. It came up with bad icons again.
This problem only occurs with Photoshop. All of my other programs run just fine and have no problems.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Ted

I just had the same problem starting yesterday, even though I don't recall upgrading anything recently. Did you ever resolve this? For what it's worth, I have noticed that Photoshop still opens if you open a photoshop file, just not if you try to open the program from its own icon or from the dock. I'm kinda stumped.

  • [SOLVED]Gnome panel icon for netctl

Hi - does anyone know if there is a gnome panel icon (like Network manager) available for Netctl?

I dug up an old applet I had written for Cinnamon (based on another applet by Tjaart van der Walt), and upgraded it to work with Gnome 3.12
For some reason, I am not able to submit it to the AUR.
^^Mods: please help if possible - I keep getting a "Invalid name: only lowercase letters are allowed". error when I am trying to submit the tarball linked below.
download link to the tarball, in case anyone wants to use it: https://app.box.com/s/d9wsu6u8jkcknl0r4z6x

  • [SOLVED] Gnome notification area has wrong background color

I'm using the Shiki-Brave theme on Gnome and all (yes, all) of the tray icons have the wrong background color.  The color changes slighty if I select another Shiki theme, but is pretty close to the default gray.  Strangely, I only have this issue on my desktop at home -- none of my other machines (two laptops and a desktop at work) exhibit the problem.  I have ensured that the theme is exactly the same on all machines.  Another oddity is that other themes (e.g. high contrast inverse) have the right background color!
The only thing I have managed to find via Google is a bug report against Gnome.  Here is what I have tried:
    * Removing and readding the applet to the panel.
    * Blowing away all my settings (rm -rf .gnome2 .gconf .gconfd .local) and setting things up again.  To be sure I did not miss anything, I also tried creating a new user with a clean home.  Still the same issue.
    * Removing and reinstalling all of the gnome and gnome_extra groups.  I even cleared the pacman cache to force a redownload.
Any ideas?  I'm at a loss on what to try next.
    Thanks!

    I figured out the problem.
I have an NVIDIA card and I recently modified my X server to use Xinerama instead of TwinView.  Xinerama was responsible for all this nastiness.  Reverting to TwinView fixed the problem (and some other weird ones that started popping up).
Those of you with NVIDIA cards, avoid Xinerama!

  • Preferences Sound Icon has changed...

Hey, the Sound icon on my Preferences pane is different, all of a sudden i have noticed its changed to a strange looking icon, a kind of switch sorta thing, any ideas how to restore it to what it should be?
    Many thanks.

    Stuart,
Glad to hear that your problem has been resolved. OnyX probably took care of that recalcitrant cache.
Cache, From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia has a good basic explanation.
Macintosh OS X Routine Maintenance, by Randy B. Singer, has some practical explanations regarding the use of Mac OS X cache cleaning utilities.
The X Lab, by Dr. Smoke also has two articles that will explain the use/misuse of cache cleaning utilities:
    1. Cache cleaning: Side effects of System cache cleaning
    2. Resolving disk, permission, and cache corruption
    Cheers.

You can use the following add-on to refresh the site icons for your bookmarks.

You can use the following add-on to replace the icons supplied by the sites with your own icons.

  • Language of some of my icons has changed and I can't seem to reverse it, please help!

A friend of mine was messing around with my laptop and managed to change the language to what I believe to be Russian.  I changed the language under the 'International' tab back to English, but for some reason some of my icons (e.g. system preferences, software update and language menu) are still written in whatever language this is.  I've fiddled about with the settings in the 'International' tab for hours but with no success and I can't find a solution anywhere.  Please help!

Did you do logout/login after moving English to the top of the list?
Also you could try going to system prefs/international/language and using the Edit button to uncheck the box for Russian.

  • [solved] Gnome/GTK icons missing

    Hey,
yet another icon missing topic, but I didn't find anything similar to my problem in this forum.
    http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/3432 … gicon1.png
    http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/4341 … gicon2.png
    http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/7168 … gicon3.png
As you can see, icons are missing not only in the gnome menu, but also
in firefox (gtk app). Therefore, I think the problem is more related to GTK?!
Yes, I tried serveral icon themes and engines, no success.
    1. Anyone out there who got the same problem?
Because laptop and desktop have the same issue.
    2. Any further information about this issue?
    3. Any suggestions/advices?
    Thanks in advance,

In general it is best if you still have an older version in the pacman package cache, otherwise it can be difficult.
especially now that the ARM is dead

  • Satellite L650 - Cannot start the Office 2010 - icon has changed

    I have a new Satellite L650.
Using the Office 2010 icon on the desktop and my software code I installed the program.

Where is it? Not in the listed programs.

    Hi mate
Office is a package which contains several single applications like MS Word, Outlook, etc... so you will not be able to start Office clicking on Office icon.
If you want to start MS Word for example, then you will need to choose this software.
Usually you could find this going to Start button -> All Programs -> MS Office.

  • Why has my app icon randomly changed and how do I get it back

I started up my ipad 4 this morning and one of my icons has changed for no reason. Any idea how this has happened or why but more importantly how do I get it back?
I've tried restarting and switching it off again to no avail. As it's a corporate app I can't delete and reinstall.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks
    Thom

No, there is no way to customize icons in iOS. The only thing I can think of why this might happen is this...
Corporate developer accounts have the ability to develop and distribute apps outside the app store. This also means the apps do not undergo the same testing process as commercial apps and more importantly, it means that apps developed by enterprise developer do not have to have what is called a unique Bundle Identifier. It's essentially what identifies the app. Usually the bundle identifier is unique and formated as a combination reverse domain plus some details about the app. For example, com.companyname.appname or com.apple.voicememos.
It's possible the developer decided to use a bundle identifier similar or the same as the app that uses the icon that is appearing on your device. When you update your personal apps, the App Store might have gotten confused.
It's also possible the developer used a placeholder icon and simply forgot to replace it before you installed the app then fixed it later after someone gave him the proper icon.
Have your IT group delete and reinstall the app and I suspect you will be ok.
