[SOLVED] google-chrome doesn't open images

Hi,
I want to know if there's any chance to define which software google-chrome uses to open image files.
Currently when I try to open a file from google-chrome I get this:

[SOLVED] Google Chrome doesn't render page after lost focus in Awesome

Hello !
I have installed fresh Arch Linux with linux-ck and awesome. After that I have installed google-chrome-stable and started it. Everything works well, but if I opened other application (chrome lost focus) and then got back to the chrome, it freezes. Mouce cursor worked as expected (cursor changed after hovering link, input field, etc) but view was not updated.
Everything works well again if I change desktop to the second and go back to the first again (mod+2, mod+1). Chrome works, responses etc well.

I bet this issue has something in common with hw acceleration. If I run some game on steam, lost focus, got back to the game - it show last rendered screen before focus has been lost (sound is ok, game is responsible but not updates screen).
I use nvidia. Do I need some extra configuration to handle it ?

The problem was `xcompmgr` which caused "freezing" view. I switched it to `unagi` and all of the problems have gone.

Google Chrome doesn't open files with any applications

Hey all,
After downloading stuff, it is desirable to open the files downloaded; however this is made difficult on my Arch system because Chrome doesn't know what to open the files with, nor does it ask.
I'm using SLiM, xmonad, and have a rather minimalistic set up.
Secondary to this, Chrome cannot determine by itself whether it is the default browser application.
I don't know where I could provide this information to Chrome, Can anybody help?

It opens only the tab page when I have it set to open set pages. I think it opens automatically as well when I do not want that.

Yoga 2 Pro: Google Chrome does not open properly

I have a Yoga Thinkpad 13.3 convertible which I recently upgraded from Windows 8 to 8.1 with no apparent problems. A few days later I tried to open Google Chrome - the screen wouldn't open properly and wouldn't respond. I tried to uninstall the progam and couldn't do that either, or download a new version. A computer technician friend has since managed to get Chrome to uninstall and cleared the registry and downloaded Chrome again but it still isn't working - the screen shot is what it's like at the moment and he is baffled, he's never come across this before. Is there a conflict between Chrome and Windows 8.1?
If anyone has a solution please explain in simple language I'm not particularly computer literate when it comes to technical speak.

Chrome works fine in 8.1
Try creating a new user account, then uninstall/reinstall chrome using the offline installer.

I wonder if anyone can use Google Chrome on T61.
I got my T61 from Hong Kong 5 months ago and I am using Windows Vista SP1 32 Bit Traditional Chinese.
After I installed Google Chrome, it couldn' t connect to any websites. I had tried to uninstall it and even reinstall my computer, but it still doesn't work. The Internet Explorer does work.
Surprisingly, I can connect to different websites using Google Chrome when I use Windows XP on Virtual PC. It seems that it's related to the OS itself. I will try to use Vista on Virtual PC, but I hope that you guys will be able to solve my problem.

It might be helpful to provide some more details such as: will it not install?, will it install and not run?, will it run but give error message?, etc, etc, etc.

I use myway email, Today it will no longer open in firefox. I tried IE and Google chrome and it opens OK, but I prefer firefox. Please help

I have been having problems with my email, (Myway,) for a few days. Today it would not open at all. I continued to try and got a message saying the pages had been redone and some pages were no longer available . I tried IE and it opened, I then tried Google Chrome it opened alright. I prefer to use Firefox but if I can't access my mail I will have to change browsers for everything..

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

[SOLVED] Google Chrome vs Chromium

A few months ago while visiting Youtube, I noticed it was asking me to install google chrome. So I realized the Linux version is finally out. So I googled for it and installed it on my Ubuntu laptop under the name of google-chrome. Then I tried to install it on my 64 bit Arch Linux machine. I googled for it, but didn't find anything. I tried to search for it on pacman, but I only found Chromium. I installed it, and it looked exactly the same as my google-chrome on ubuntu.
Today, I got confused whether or not chromium is the same as google-chrome. I read somewhere that chromium is the ported version of windows google-chrome for Linux while there's a separate version of google-chrome for linux, named google-chrome. I don't find any differences between my google-chrom on ubuntu and chromium on Arch, but I'm really confused.
Would be glad if someone tells me what is what.

Yep that link explains it all straight from the horses mouth so to speak.
Basically chromium is the open source projected created by Google and google-chrome is a slightly modified version, google branded version of the browser that comes in binary form.

Bridge CS6 Mavericks. "Preview" doesn't open images (they appear as white thumbnails),"Content" does

I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled my programs, replacing Snow Leopard with Mavericks. I've downloaded the latest version of Camera RAW. In Bridge I now see my images as thumbnails without a problem. However thePreview view doesn't open; I just see blank thumbnails. Before everything worked fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick response, Pierre-Etienne. Something very strange is happening, but first let me answer your questions. After I reinstalled PS CS6 on my MacBook Pro (whose HD I had just reformatted under Mavericks) two days ago, I got a message from the Adobe Notifier or whatever it's called, telling me that there were a number of updates available for my Adobe products. I downloaded and installed them; I think a Bridge was included. I got an error message concerning 3 updates, including Camera RAW, so I went and got them by hand. The most recent ACR version seemed to be 6.7, bundled with DNC converter 8.3, which I installed, and then this morning when I ran across the problem I wrote about I did a new download, this time of the latest stand-alone version of ACR. I believe it was also 6.7, but when I open a file now in Camera RAW it gives the ACR version as 8.3. A bit confusing. You ask, where? In France, where I live, but from the English language site.
Now here's the strange thing. I just came back from some very intensive work at an international conference, where over the course of 5 days I took almost 8000 pictures. I use the star sytem in Bridge to rate the pictures (in this case 0 to 3 stars). Within each star folder there are subfolders for the different days, and then sub-subfolders for the various events each day - all in all, quite a few folders. This morning I was looking at the pictures in a particular folder, and the phenomenon that I wrote about occured: no preview image. I just checked, and it turns out that that is the only folder out of over 200 so affected! All the other pictures open normally, in all star level folders, on all days, at all events. What an amazing coincidence!
So I guess I don't in fact have a major problem. I have a minor problem involving one particular folder. The only question remaining is why that particular folder, and could it happen again?

External Editor Photoshop CS doesn't open image

When I attempt to open an image from Aperture with Photoshop CS as my external editor, the Photoshop application opens, but the image doesn't open. If I use another external editor (ie iPhoto) the image does open. This is true whether it is tiff, psd or jpeg. Does anyone have any solution to this problem?

Edit in External doesn't open image

I'm using LR2. When I do cmnd+E or Photo/Edit in/PS it launches Photoshop, but the image doesn't open in the program. It just opens with no photo opened.
If it helps, my settings for External Editing are:
Program: Edit in PSCS3
File Format: PSD
Color Space: AdobeRGB (1998)
Bit Depth: 16bit
Resolution: 240
If I open in using Capture NX as the program it works fine.
I've tried editing both the original and a virtual copy, same results. If I drag the thumbnail from LR to the PS icon on my dock it opens the image in PS just fine but that's the wrong way to go about it because it doesn't keep it in the catalog, etc.

Ah, I couldn't find anything on it. Guess I wasn't looking hard enough. Thanks, I'll hang tight for a fix.

Google Chrome can't open downloaded files

I'm having a little problem with Google Chrome. Made package from AUR.
Everything is working fine, but I can't get chrome to open any files it downloads, I have to manually go to the downloaded file and open it.
I'm sure the answer is trivial, I just can't figure it out.
Anyone know?

Hmm... To be on the safe side make sure you have installed perl-file-mimeinfo and xorg-xprop. Also, while logged out of your account, switch to a console screen, log in and delete these two files "~/.local/share/mimeapps.list" and "~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list". After this I'd recommend that you delete your browser's configuration "~/.config/google-chrome" (make sure you have a cloud backup to recover all your data later, or at least backup your bookmarks and ssl certificates before doing this ).

Lightroom (Win7) 4.3 "Edit in" function opens Elements 11 but doesn't open image

Howdy All,
I'm running Windows 7 64bit Lightroom 4.3, right clicking on the current open image and selecting "Edit In" "Photoshop Elements 11.exe" which does cause Elements 11 to open but without opening the image originally selected from within Lightroom. I saw that Mac users need to point the "Edit In" Preferences to the proper location of the Photoshop Elements Editor but I couldn't find info that confirms I'm pointing at the "right" Photoshop Elements 11 file for Windows 7 users.
Note that I had to manually enter the "Photoshop Elements 11.exe" within the preferences settings because I had previously uninstalled Elements 9 which had been the choice within the preferences setting for "Edit In".
How do I get this Lightroom4.3/Elements11 sequence to automatically open the RAW image in Elements 11 with the current set of edits made in Lightroom?

After going back into Lightroom/Preferences for the thousandth time, all of a sudden instead of having PhotoshopElements11.exe as the only logical choice, I now had a folder within the Adobe folder called Photoshop Elements 11 (that had its own special Adobe folder icon) and within that folder was no longer "Photoshop Elements11.exe" but now "Photoshop Elements Editor"! That, of course, was what I was looking for all along. Once that was selected within Preferences, Elements now pops-up with an image ready for editing. I'm not sure why Photoshop Elements Editor is now a choice when it wasn't last night. I had already performed re-installs of both products, several re-boots etc. and never had Editor as a choice. I hadn't even shut down my PC overnight either! I was beginning to think that Editor was only a Mac term and that Win7 used some other name that I had yet to discover. Maybe my PC was just waiting for 2013 :-). All is well.

Google Chrome won't open properly in Lion

I have just upgraded to Lion and I am having a number of difficulties, my BTYahooo home page won't display properly in Google Chrome browser, even though it will in Safari. I also used to be able to get Dock Art working with itunes but it has now stopped working, apparently I have to down grade to 32 bit, however I do that? can this be right, I have to downgrade the whole of itunes to get it to use this feature?

Not sure what you are seeing, but Yahoo Home page looks like this here in Chrome:

On any addons to iTunes or other Apple apps, you will have to wait until the 3rd party supplier updates the app to work correctly. Should not be too long, as most developers want to eat at the end of the month.

The latest QT 10 player doesn't open image sequence anymore?

I recently upgraded to snow leopard. I found the QT10 came with it has no "open image sequence" under the File menu.
My old QT7.6.6 player has this wonderful feature.
Can someone explain what's going on? Thanks.

I just noticed the same problem. However, I did do a Time Machine backup before I upgraded and was able to restore the previous version of QuickTime as well as keeping the new version. I've just tested the 'Open Image Sequence' on the old version and it appears to work fine.
