[solved] H67MA-E45 does not boot

motherboard:H67MA-E45
cpu: i5-2400
memory 2x 4gb corsair DDR3 (XMX8GX3M2A1333C9)
+keyboard + DVI-D display
I've tried booting with everything else disconnected but all I get is those four beeps, ta-taaa-ta-ti. all four leds on a motherboard are also lit. nothing on a display.
result is the same with all four following trials:
memory A in slot1 and memory B in slot3
memory B in slot1 and memory A in slot3
memory A in slot1
memory B in slot1
if I boot without memories, system get's in to loop where it boots, shuts down and reboots.
this makes me think that memories might be ok as in single memory case they both work same way.
I tried re-mounting CPU but it made no difference.
I tried resetting bios  but it made no difference.
Motherboard, CPU and memories are all new. I am replacing broken stuff (My assumption is that motherboard and it's capacitors caused the failure) so I can not completely exclude power supply being faulty but I don't think this is very likely.
any ideas?

decided to do one more try before going to sleep...
for some reason, cpu / motherboard did not automatically wake up my display, right after boot I disconnected and reconnected the display cable and now it is up and running.
so there went my sleep

  • [SOLVED] ArchLinux does not boot if AC adapter is plugged in.

Well, actually it does not boot when AC adapter is unplugged too! When I boot ArchLinux it stops working (i.e. the screen becomes completely black without the chance to recover it) just after it says: "Waiting for UDev uevents to be processed".
The only workaround I found is to plug in the AC adapter before turning the computer on and unplug it exactly after it started booting the kernel. Otherwise it does not complete the boot process (as I said, it stops at: "Waiting for UDev uevents to be processed").
More, on KDE startup I always see a message concerning Power Management, but it is too fast and I cannot read it. If I go to System Settings > Power Management I see this notice: "Power Management configuration module could not be loaded. The Power Management Service appears not to be running. This can be solved by starting or scheduling it inside `Startup and Shutdown`". Do I have to add `powerdevil` to `Startup and Shutdown` as pre-kde startup service?
As for my configuration I have this modules in my rc.conf:
    MODULES=(ac battery button acpi-cpufreq cpufreq_ondemand acpi)
The last one was acpid, but at startup it said it could not find that module, so I changed it to acpi.
    Thank you,

Ok, I tried and I got something
    + -------------------------- MODULES -----------------------------------+ Result        +
    | ac battery button acpi-cpufreq cpufreq_ondemand acpi  | FAIL            |
    | battery button acpi-cpufreq cpufreq_ondemand acpi      |  SUCCEED  |
    | ac button acpi-cpufreq cpufreq_ondemand acpi             | SUCCEED   |
    | battery                                                                      | SUCCEED   |
    | ac                                                                            |  SUCCEED   |
    | ac battery                                                                 |  FAIL            |
    +--------------------------------------------------------------------------------+-------------------+
As you can see, it fails booting only when ac and battery are loaded together.
EDIT: With lsmod I can see nobody uses either ac or battery, so can I remove them from MODULES? This would solve the problem.
Mod Edit:  I added code tags -- that output was just too ugly    I took them back out, they did not help

Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are properly installed.
If you failed to create recovery media, obtain it from Toshiba. Scroll down to Get Recovery Media here
See the instructions in the section Restoring from recovery media, which begins on p. 56 of the User's Guide.

dv 6809wm laptop. Computer still does not boot up when battery out and ac adapter plugged in?
It lights up initially for a split second when I push power button, but does not continue to boot up. When ac adaptor is put in it glows blue like it is supposed to. Any suggestions?

i'm going to try to see if a different ac adaptor will work hopefully that solves the issue.

  • M macbookpro does not boot

    macbookpro does not boot

    Is it plugged in?
Does the cable show any sign of fraying?
Is there power coming through the outlet that powers something else?
Have you tried holding down the power button a few second and then letting go?
Does it have an externally removable battery?  If it does, does removing the battery solve the issue?

  • New MBP i5 does not boot after hard disk swap

    Hi there,
I received my new i5 MBP today. After booting it once with the installed HDD to check if it's ok, I exchanged the hard disk for the one in my Late 2008 Macbook Pro. After doing this, my Late 2008 Macbook Pro boots fine with the (new) hard disk from the new i5 MBP, but the i5 MBP does not boot with my old hard disk.
    To give you some details:
    - I have installed 10.6.3 on the (old) hard disk that's not booting.
    - The i5 MBP boots fine from the installation DVD
    - Disk utility finds and can read my hard disk, no errors
    - PRAM NVRAM reset did not help
    - when booting in safe mode, I can see the system stop booting after or while loading Extensions.mkext
My guess is, it tries to boot and load the wrong Extensions for the new system (CPU? GPU?). I have no idea how to fix this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Focx,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Inserting the drive from an earlier model MBP will probably not work. The version of the system you have on that HD is designed for earlier hardware so when you put in in your new machine it's going to be recognized. What I'd recommend is re-installing the disk that came with the new machine and of course putting the 2008's disk back in the old machine. Then use Migration Assistant on the new machine and migrate your data from the old machine into the new machine.
This will provide a much more stable system and should work just fine.

  • Satellite L745D-S4214 Does not boot; HDD recovery partition not working

I tried to apply the recent windows 7 updates and my laptop no longer boots.  I tried to press F12 and select the HDD Recovery partition, but it does not boot regardless.  There is a message that it does not communicate to a specific device.  I believe the address called out was 0xc0000e9, but I am going by memory.  I never created a recovery CD because I thought I was covered by the HDD partitions.  This was purchased on 10/26/2012, so it should still be under warranty.
    PLEASE HELP!

Hi I'm going to assume that your recovery works like mine and that the recovery partition is still good and not corrupted.
Shut down your PC. Press F12 and select HDD recovery. Click enter. This should start the recovery from the hidden recovery partition.
PS I would advise you to make the recovery discs or USB recovery Try this first.
    Perform a power cycle
Even when your laptop is off and unplugged, residual power can still be held in some components. While this is normal, clearing it can help with boot problems. Perform these steps to complete what’s called a power cycle.
Ensure the laptop is turned off.
Unplug the laptop's AC power cable.
Remove the battery (if the model has a removable battery).
Unplug all wires or peripherals. This includes CDs, DVDs, USB sticks, mice, printers, and any other accessories.
Hold down the power button for thirty seconds.
    Reattach the battery.
Connect the AC adaptor to the power socket that was confirmed to be working in the first step.
Connect the other end of the AC adaptor to your computer.
    Try starting the computer.
If your laptop starts normally now, you're done!

  • Satellite M30-107 does not boot correctly after Recovery disk usage

    Hi
I've recently got hold of a second hand toshiba Satellite M30-107 laptop, and decided to freshen it up.
I used the toshiba recovery disk, but after doing so the laptop no longer loads windows.
When turned on it shows the Toshiba start up disk for about a second then goes to a blank screen and freezes.
When turned off and on again a screen comes up reporting an error in shutting down and gives the options to start in safe mode etc. but choosing any of the options causes the machine to freeze.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi
Sounds a little bit like the notebook does not boot due to the Windows software issue
Did you recover the M30 with the original Toshiba recovery CD which was supplied with this M30 unit?
Maybe Im wrong but for me it looks like a wrong recovery CD was used and an image with non compatible drivers was installed
You could try to install the OS from original Microsoft Win XP CD and could check if it would be possible to get the notebook ruining using clean OS.
In such case we ( you and me ;) ) could find out if this issue could be related to the software or hardware.

  • X102e - Hard drive does not boot into Windows

Hi, I was trying to reinstall Windows on my X120e.
I tried clean install with Windows 7 Professional, but the hard drive does not boot into the Windows once it has done the first phase of the install(you know, the copying part)
After the restart done by Windows, it goes as far as "Starting Windows" but does not actually boot into the Windows.
When I try to install Windows with another HDD, the device works well, but I can't swap the HDD because it is not 7.5mm think HDD.
Is there any possibility the HDD will work trough any software-level process? The HDD works fine as external HDD when tested with external HDD adapter, and installs well. only problem is that it fails to boot

    Thank you for reply.
This is not exactly the issue. I was talking about the HDD originally installed in the PC.
The PC successfully recognizes the external disk I used to install the Windows, but the problem was that I did not boot into the "First boot" screen, which basically works on the already installed data.
As of now I have installed an SSD and is working fine. strange part is that HDD works just fine when I use it as an external HDD via adapter. Strange huh?

  • Toshiba Satellite P870 upgraded to Win 8.1 does not boot

I have a Toshiba Satellite P870 with Win 8 preinstalled. Soon after upgrade to Win 8.1 and basically successful removal of “watermark error” (secure boot activated) the machine stopped booting completely: after pressing the power button ventilator sound
is heard with periodically changing loudness as well as clicking sound from the speakers. The screen stays black. Attempts to start the PC through pressing F2 or zero buttons did not produce any result. Neither did I succeed with recovery discs I created before:
the system simply does not boot from the disk. It looks like I tried all options offered by Microsoft and Toshiba. I would be happy to roll back to factory settings.
Could someone give me hint what to do next?

    Hi,
For the issue, let us know how to remove the “watermark error".
Meanwhile, I would like to confirm if you could access the BIOS.
I suggest you update the BIOS version to test it.
If you want to repair the startup issue, you should use windows 8.1 recovery discs or installation discs.
Meanwhile, if you cannot access the BIOS, it may be caused by hardware, I suggest you contact the Toshiba manufacturer for further help.

  • Satellite A105 WIN XP does not boot or load...

Ok, so my wife's laptop has a boot issue. Model is A105-S4284
The Toshiba/Phoenix screen loads, but does not boot/load XP. It gives a black screen, then sits for a few secs and restarts. it will continue this loop indefinetely as far as I can tell. When this happened, she complained that it has been taking longer for it to boot into XP recently. (Wish she had told me before)
I can get to BIOS system utilites, Boot menu, and can access F8/Win Advanced options boot choices. I have tried the following:
    Safe Mode
    Safe Mode w/command prompt
    Last known GCFG
    Disable Auto restart on failure
I have also done a battery pull and unseated the memory, even swapping left/right, and attempted boot from just one mempry module, all with no change.
Apparently her DVD/optical drive is toast (apparently has been) so I can't do a recovery disc, but I did make a recovery USB drive. No dice there either.
What have I not done? Since I can access the adv. opt. menu it seems winXP is still there. most likely she shut it down while XP was installing something, and now there is some type of error in the registry or somewhere, but I can't seem to recall or remember what my next steps would be to gain access to I can try to clean it up and recover.
I would do a complete wipe and start from scratch, but her entire work portfolio is on the HDD and she (foolishly) has not backed it up, at least not recently. Is my best bet to get an outboard drive enclosure and set the jumpers to slave, so I can attempt to recover the data that way?
I'm a bit stubborn, and know my way around a computer, and I refuse to give up and drop it off at the geek squad.
    Please help!

her entire work portfolio is on the HDD
First things first. You should rescue the files.
Remove the hard drive and place it in an enclosure accessible from a desktop via USB.

  • Reset Password - System does not boot from DVD

    My System: Macbook Pro - 2Ghz Intel Core Duo - OS X - 10.6.8
    Hi everyone,
i forgot my password. So i want to boot from install DVD to reset the password. Unfortunately my macbook pro does not boot from DVD (10.6.3).
I press c all the time...but sometimes the macbook pro throws the DVD out...and sometimes nothing happens.
The DVD drive is working fine...
    Any other idea?
    Thanks in advance.
    Fabian

So when you boot holding option it shows a padlock with a password field? Is that correct?
In that case we're talking about the firmware password, which you can't reset via the install disk. There is only one way to do this, I'm not certain if one is allowed to divulge that information publicly - might want to try googling "reset firmware password"

  • Macbook pro does not boot after upgrading ram

I have a macbook pro late 2011 which runs with mavericks operating system . I have tried to upgrade my macbook to 8Gb. Macbook does not boot when the two ram slots are filled with 4GB ram but runs well when the slots are filled with 2GB ram. When i try them individually with one slot of 2GB ram and another slot with 4GB they run perfectly which shows status ok in the RAM info. What could be the problem .

Around here, most of us recommend only Crucial and OWC for RAM because it's guaranteed to work with Macs and it's what most of us have. If I were you, I would return the RAM and look at purchasing RAM from either Crucial or OWC. If you can't get their RAM to work then you'll know that there's some trouble with your actual slots.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • KT6V + sempron 2800 does not boot when BIOS saved

    Hi,
I have just bought a new sempron 2800 to be use on a KT6V LSR. I plugget in my KT6V but was not recognised well (but all was working ok with windows). To be recognised, I have flashed with the last bios of MSI my motherboard... and now I have the following problem:
    - I clear CMOS, then boot. It comes ok (processor detected and set a 1200Mhz)
    - Then CMOS has a bad checksum: I enter setup, then load default, save.
    - I reboot: the computer does not boot up.
If I re-clear CMOS I can re-enter setup and modify frequencies or other options. But when I save my modifications, then the computer does not reboot anymore (I have to re-clear cmos again)...
I tried to apply the configuation I found in this thread:
    http://forums.amd.com/lofiversion/index.php/t69536.html
It says that SDRAM must be at 333, FSB at 166 and multiplicator at 12. When applying this settings, it does not boot (the leds indicate that the chipset initialisation (the first step) does not pass).
If I just load biios default, the leds indicates that it fails when checking the memory (second step of boot). I suspect that it's a problem of memory (but my memory was working well before !): it's 2x512 of DDR 400.
Any suggestion is appreciated :D . I spent several hours trying to configure the bios but it does not boot..
(I'll also try to find help on AMD forums...)
(Some extra info: my PSU is 26A for 12V, so it seems that it's not due to the PSU (as I read in the FAQ of this forum).
    Thanks,
    Ptitmain.
