[solved] Hebrew spell checker as dependency for enchant?

Hi, on a fresh installation I noticed that the only dictionary Evolution shows is for Hebrew.
$ pacman -Qs hebrew
local/hspell 1.1-2
Hebrew spell-checker
I then tried to remove this but pacman says enchant needs it which is needed by a lot of packages:
checking dependencies...
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: gedit: requires enchant
:: gtkhtml4: requires enchant
:: kdelibs: requires enchant
:: libwebkit3: requires enchant
I just ask myself why is a dictionary a depemdency for such a package?

To fix the problem of the Hebrew dictionary being the only one Evolution sees, you need to install any other dictionary. Typically you would want packages like aspell-[LANGUAGE]

  • My spell check only works for about half of an article. Is there a way to fix this?

    When I'm on a wiki, looking at an article, I sometimes see a couple spelling errors that just bug me, so I sometimes go in and fix them. However, when I pull up the editing page, the spell check only works for about the first half of the article. I can't find the errors if they're in the second half of the article. Is there a way to fix this?

    You can try basic steps like these in case of issues with web pages:
    Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
    *Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
    Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    *Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • Spell checker in Pages for iOS - other than english

    Hello,
    I'm trying to get spell checking in Pages for iOS working in another language besides english. My question is- is spell checker in Pages for iOS evailable in any other language besides english? Because it doesn't seem to be- once I change keyboard to another language (even matching system language), Pages stops underlying errors in that keyboard language.
    Thanks.

    Spellcheck/autocorrect follows the keyboard (system language is irrelevant).  Please tell us what language exactly is not working for you.

  • Spell Checking only works for English after 10.4.9

    After installing and reinstalling (combo version) of 10.4.9 on my Intel MacBook Pro, the Spell Checking is working only for the English language.
    Seems that other languages are not installed (although they are at the spelling pop up). When I activate them, nothing works. No spelling as I type, no suggestions at the spelling window...
    Any one know how to reinstall only the languages?

    Nothing?

  • Can you add a word or name to the spell checker in pages for iPad?

    I'm looking for a way to add a word, alternate spelling or proper name to the spell checker for the newest version of pages for iPad so they won't keep showing up as "misspelled".
    Can you help?

    No, the ability to add a word to spell check dictionary is not a current feature.

  • Switch iPad to spell check uk english for crying out loud

    Started with simple document created on iPad2 using Pages 1.6 (504) - noticed spell check default is US English (eg summarize) but I need UK English.
    Went through all the settings in iOS Pages to try to switch - no luck.
    Went to my iMac, Safari, iCloud, pulled down document, (incidentally noticed it had a problem with missing font despite fact that I'm using defaults throughout), opened in Pages '09 v4.1 (923) selected all, went to inspector, changed to UK English, saved.
    Uploaded document to iCloud/iWork - selected 'replace' when given option.
    Went back to iPad. Noticed Pages documents had not refreshed. Shut down iPad. Re-started. Selected document, opened, and magically it had reverted to US spelling. Also now has a problem with missing font Calibri - in fact I don't give a tinker's cuss which font it uses, I simply want it to spell in vernacular.
    Repeat all of above. Confirmed document when opened on iMac had indeed kept UK spelling, ie problem has something to do with iPad settings.
    All-in-all wasted an hour. So much for iCloud/iWork. iGiveUp.
    Any ideas?

    what's not clear is which keyboard is active since there's no indication.
    You can make it clear by holding down the "globe" key and choosing what you want from the list.  Or how about deleting the keyboard which does not say English (UK).
    Spellcheck normally follows the keyboard on iOS devices and what app you are using is irrelevant.

  • Requested auto spell check not worked for months - gmail uses Firefox's

    Tools Advanced setting is on auto spell check but has not worked for months - yes it had worked, probably for years. Looking at gmail for an auto spell checker I see that it leaves that to one's browser - Firefox.

    Your More system details list doesn't show the en-GB dictionary.
    If you do not have the en-US locale then check that you have a dictionary installed (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and selected.
    You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.<br />
    Also make sure that [X]"Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu has a tick.<br />
    You can also try to toggle the "Check Spelling" item off and on again.

  • Spell checker and accents for E60

    Hi Can anyone tell me how I can spell check my e-mails and texts in the E60.
    Also I would like to put French accents over (and under) letters but can seem to find them.
    Thanks,
    M.

    Thank you for getting back to me on this.
    I fear this doesn't help my situation. Looks like if I download this 'Open Office Dictionaries' I will have to convert the file and install it in to my dictionary, which will in return give me double words on ALL of of words I have (the last file available is from 2006 and I have Pages 09, which is 3 years newer...)
    I need to download a Medical list dictionary and I need the ability to highlight and have the computer speak Correctly the word.
    EXP: The word 'maximus' is misspelled and pronounced max-ei-muse.

  • [SOLVED]Makepkg won't detect dependency for Volti

    I am trying to install volti (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/volti/).
    So I run makepkg -s:
    ==> Making package: volti 0.2.3-2 (Tue Jul 16 18:14:40 CEST 2013)
    ==> Checking runtime dependencies...
    ==> Installing missing dependencies...
    error: target not found: python2-pyalsaaudio
    ==> ERROR: 'pacman' failed to install missing dependencies.
    Then I download and install python2-pyalsaaudio (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python2-pyalsaaudio/).
    I know it's installed because pacman -Qm has it on the list and running import alsaaudio works in python shell.
    But running makepkg in volti directory still returns the same error as above.
    What's wrong?

    Owwww...
    Yes, I got the wrong one. I can't believe I missed that... And I was running python 3 console, that's why import was working. Gotta keep an eye for that in the future.
    Thank you!

  • [Solved] OpenOffice spell check not working

    Used the wiki and did
    pacman -S openoffice-spell-XX
    but there seems to be no spellcheck. What do I do?

    Hey,
    Probably you need to update your system. Lately Openoffice was broken, because of hunspell: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=47410
    Otherwise check your OO.o settings in 'Tools/Options.../Language settings'.

  • I just want to turn my spell checker back on, for it got turned off by mistake.

    Never mind, resolved the problem!

    10 minutes of footage is normally about 2GB, so you must be doing something that adds a lot of content. Copying and Pasting clips within the same project does NOT add significantly to the size of the project. It simply adds another thumbnail that points to the same Media file. (When you empty the iMovie trash, that Media file is discarded only when ALL the clips that point to that file are discarded.)
    If you are Copying and Pasting clips from OTHER projects then Yes, the entire Media file of the clip will be copied to the destination project. When doing that, it's important to Copy and Paste all the clips that share the same source file at the same time to avoid iMovie copying the same source file more than once.
    If the project size is a problem for you, there are other threads here discussing how to reduce the size. Search for words like "iMovie trash", "non-destructive editing", and "bloated".
    It's unlikely Apple will change this feature for non-destructive editing has huge advantages, including the elimination of project corruption, a problem in all versions of iMovie up to iMovie HD 5.
    The solution is to buy a big external drive, which fortunately is cheap. If you want to edit video, it's almost a requirement. If your system can't comfortably handle a 17GB project, it sounds like you may need that regardless.

  • How can I enforce automatic spell checking for selected fields of data entered by form users?

    I'd like to be able to enforce spell checking of selected fields in the forms that I've created using LiveCycle Designer 8.2 at run time, as opposed to design time.  I understand the version LCD 8 has a nifty new spell checker for form designers.  But I want to spell check the data entered by users using Acrobat Reader.  And I want to enforce the spell checking automatically on selected fields only.
    Presently it seems that users filling in my forms, must know how to manually right-click on each field and select "Spell Check" from the resulting dialog box in order to check for spelling errors in the data the user has entered in the form.
    I would like to discover a way to enforce spell checking in selected fields, just as I am able to do in forms created using Acrobat Pro.  In Acrobat Pro, I can set a property for each field to require spell checking.  but that feature seems to be missing in Livecycle Designer.
    I've check the Object model for XFA forms hoping that I might find a method I can call with a Javascript, to check spelling based on an event such as onBlur.  But I haven't found a spell check method.
    Am I missing something simple?  Is there a way to set each field to be spell checked when a user is filling in the form using the free Acrobat Reader?
    Our users are not sophisticated and requiring them to spell check each field separately just won't cut it...
    Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -David Bartholomew

    Hi David,
    Two things...
    At design time set the locale of the form to one that Acrobat spell checks. For example English (US) and English (UK) locales have spell checkers; however English (Ireland) does not. Check the Warnings tab to see if spell checking is supported for your locale.
    If your form locale supports spell checking then you can go to the button script below.
    If you form locale does NOT support spell checking then Stephanie has a great work around to force spell checking (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2233945#2233945).
    Bring a regular button onto the form and in the click event have the following:
    app.execMenuItem("Spelling:Check Spelling");
    Which will open the spell checker for all fields.  Thanks to Paul for extracting all of the accessible menu items (http://forums.adobe.com/message/1912914#1912914).
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • Will Pages 2.0 have Norwegian spell check possibilities ??

    Can I tell my wife that upgrading to Pages 2.0 solve the spell check issues?
    We were very dissapointed to find that Pages was sold in Norway, without support for Norwegian.
    Even bigger dissepointment: I cant replace the useless spellchecker with aspell, as I can do with other programs like "Impress".
    So, has this been fixed, or at least can I use "aspell" ???

    Why isn't there a norwegian spell check on the IPad
    Since it's listed as present in the tech specs, you should have it:
    http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
    Are you aware that spell checking follows the keyboard?  You must be typing with the Norwegian keyboard layout to have Norwegian spellcheck.  Except for iWork apps, which have a bug where spellcheck follows the OS language.

  • Spell Checker Problem

    Raj,
    When I use a textarea with spell checker everything works for the first few steps...
    The Checked text pops up, but if I click a question mark next to a bad word, a new little box pops up...
    But it has an invalid URL so I get the IE error message!
    The link the box is trying to open is:

    Note the two periods after 010308 in the URL above
    if I make that one period it works fine....where is this genarated and and how can I get this to work?

    PS if this helps...
    in the HTML source of the initial spelling window that does pop up (the page that lists the text)...I found this JavaScript (note the two dots are present there). How to fix?
