I can't see how to edit PDF inside Portfolio for Acrobat X. I can do this in Acrobat 9 Pro with the Document pull down menu. Did they take this away in Acrobat X?

Whether it's maxed or not doesn't make any difference.
The bottom part of the image/scroll bar is always under the Windows taskbar any time the URL is opened.
It is always fixed by doing something, either switching to and back from another window, or turning on and off one or more toolbars.
That shouldn't be necessary. The bottom part should be visible when the URL is opened.

  • How to edit pdfs when you keep getting error message (14)

How to edit pdfs - I have a pdf I created to make a certificate - I am naturally trying to edit that for another person - ALL of these keep giving me the same message - error reading this (14).  Even when I DO manage to get one to open and let me edit it, then saving it doesn't work, and sharing it gives me a BLANK one, despite having just filled it all in.  I am ready to chuck adobe out the door.  It's taken hours off my day (and Life.)  Help?

Thank you for trying to help.  I got a graphics whiz to look at the certificate I'd made; he told me to just use the arrow point icon at the top to access and change the name field space and the date field space.  Seemed easy, was grateful.  Of course I tried it, only to find when I tried to save it or share it via email, which is in fact the point of this whole silly program and file, for me, it saves as either blank fields (that I just filled in) or as some layered blank of the certificate itself.  I could jump out the window.  This is the simplest stupidest task I could ask a program to do - change text - and this is somehow like asking Nasa to go to Pluto.  Please for God's sake someone tell me what to do with this to make rudimentary changes in a pdf.

  • How to edit PDF/ebook data?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but is it possible to edit PDF information (author/title/year etc.) within Snow Leopard, or do I require additional software?
If so, can anyone recommend a simple application that can do this?

    Hi Ramu,
To check cube data, use the manage button next to cube and in contents tab use InfoCube contents option. You could also check Fact table data in the same tab.
You could also use TCODE listcube.
If you want to edit the cube data, there is no direct option. You have to selectively delete the incorrect data and reload it.
For selective deletion of data goto the manage button next to cube and in contents tab use Delete Selection option.

  • Acrobat Standard XI - How to edit pdf created and signed with Adobe Standard 6.0 on another computer?

    Hi
Is this even possible? I cant edit PDF-documents because I cannot remove the signature. Can I transfer digital signature from Adobe Standard 6.0?
    Please help me out
    //Anders

Acrobat versions prior to 9 had a bug which allowed you to do what you did. In Acrobat 9 this bug was fixed. In order to do what you want you need to certify (apply special certification digital signature with your certificate -- it is "Certify (Visible/Invisible)" choice in the "Work with Certificates") your document first. In the process of certification you can specify which modification permissions you allow the users of your document to make after signing. Certification signature must be the first signature in the document.

  • How to edit pdf file

How do I edit a PDF document on my IMAC using OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.4?

    vakilwala,
I agree with try67. Acrobat will sometimes add megabytes to the file size after several simple text edits. I don't know why this happens but it is annoying and unreasonable. Why give users a tool whose down side is that it enlarges the file size so much?
Edit the PDF only as a stopgap measure, for example, to correct the date on your title page or one typo if you are pressed for time. Always go back and correct the source file and then recreate the PDF file when you have the time.

    Michael F

  • How to edit PDF's in Preview?

Heya - I was sent a form in PDF format that I need to fill out but I'm not sure how I can edit it and save my changes, can anyone tell me?
And does Preview let me add new fields to an existing form? Like say it's a document that was scanned and visually has the fields but no digitally?
    Thanks!

Preview.app is just that - a viewer. It is not an editor but does have some very limited editing capabilities. Some pdf forms with fill-in spaces will work with Preview and some can be saved with the changes, others not. That depends upon the way the form was written, and has nothing to do with Preview.
If you need to actually edit a pdf, then you need a pdf edtior. I use GhostScript, which is free and quite powerful.
    Here is their main site
    http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/?ref=darwinports.com
    and for Macs, here
    http://ghostscript.darwinports.com/
There may be others that are free and there are many commercial ones that are not.
Adobe Acrobat, one of the standard editors is not free

  • How to edit pdf?

I used a "design" program (brochures, etc) which came with my Brother printerMFC-J425W.  I saved my project as an Adobe .pdf file.  I can't open it as a saved file in Brother, but I can open it from a C:\Users file.  I can't edit it.  I can't print it.  How can something so easy be so difficult?  I don't think it could be a Brother problem only, inasmuch as the completed project exists in Adobe@.

While you can to some editing with Acrobat Pro, it is FAR better to make changes to your original document and then create a new PDF

If the PDFs appear in iTunes (they would be in the Books section of the iTunes Library) then you can change the title by selecting each PDF,

Hmm.  Good question Dp.  I don't know of any direct manipulation tools which are open source to do what you are asking.
    1. But, if you want to do a little reconstructive surgery...
If you've used "latex" and "ImageMagick" before, you could rip all the ASCII text from the PDF, manipulate the Images in GIMP, and reconstruct the PDF's how you see fit using "latex".  You might lose some Image quality in the process.
"ps2ascii", "convert", "gimp" and an emulated ".tex" file should do the trick.  But, I think I would like to find an open source package myself, to do all that stuff directly as well.  I think you said there were 124 pages?  Good luck brother...
i already tried something like that ... but unfortunately this file is somehow compressed (in a hex editor i see the first line in ASCII and then lots of "non-human-readable" things ... and at the end (13MB later) some metadata xml)
i do not understand the structure and formats of PDF's but as i then tried to open another PDF from the net successfully and managed to edit text, the conclusion must be, that there are different formats of PDF and the one i have is compressed or something like this (what is PDF/X1?)
skoal wrote:2. * By the way, as dumb as this sounds...Gimp can read most PDF files rather nicely.  I know I've opened a PDF file in GIMP before, moved images around and such, saved it to PS format, then reran 'ps2pdf' to recreate the PDF.  That might be a workaround after you split the 124 pages up and just want to correct a spelling or two... and for the spelling errors, you could just cut and paste letters from other parts of the document and align it properly.  Good 'ole Gimp, what can't it do?  The only problem is that you may lose some quality in the process.  Maybe playing with the Gimp import settings could minimize that.  I tried it with a sample PDF, set the import to "200%" resolution, turned on AA, exported it to ps, ran ps2pdf, and compared it to the original document. I see no difference.
gimp can import PDF's?    8)
    THANX FOR THIS INFO!!!!
i managed to correct some things with ->ImportToGimp->editIt->ps->pdf
the only thing: the output is _much_ bigger than the original PDF (i suspect that th text is now vectors), but it helped
this "tricks" are really cool, but i see the need of an openPDFeditor ;-)

  • How to edit pdf so that you can save entered information in Reader?

I have Acrobat Professional 8 at home as part of Adobe CS3 but we only have acrobat reader at work.
My supervisor has an evaluation form that is setup in pdf format and has fillable information boxes such as name, job description, etc. However, you can not save the information you enter into the document. I need to know how I can alter the pdf in Pro 8 so that the information can be saved with just reader.
This is probably a simple one to those who use these programs a lot, but unfortunately I don't so I am kind of behind the learning curve here.
    Any help????

When you are talking a business form, the application may be different than the original post. I would suggest you read part 15 of the AA9 EULA (license agreement) that is available from adobe.com. This is where the 500 use limit might apply.
Before you purchace AA9 for the feature, it would be wise to be sure your application would be in line with the EULA, or you will be real ticked at buying AA9 for the feature and then not being able to use it legally. You may want to indicate why you want folks to be able to save the form. If it will not be submitted, then I think you will be fine with AA9.
If it is for submission, then you may have a problem with the 500 use limit. However, saving is not needed to submit the data! The data can simply be imported to the PDF and so you don't need it in that form.

  • How to Edit PDF from InDesign

I have a user running Adobe Indesign CS2 saving a document as a PDF. They then want to give that PDF to User2 and have them be able to make simple changes to the text in that PDF using Adobe Acrobat 8. When User2 tries to edit the text in the PDF however, they receive the error "All or part of the selection has no available system font. You cannot add or delete text using the currently selected font." What is the best way to ensure that User2 can edit the text in the PDF? Do they need to install the appropriate fonts? Does Indesign have the ability to simply embed the fonts with the PDF so it can be edited by anyone?

    >What is the best way to ensure that User2 can edit the text in the PDF?
Have them use InDesign and suply the InDesign file.
What you are trying to do is beyond what is intended using Acrobat. Even if they have the font, their success may be limited.
