[SOLVED] inkscape 0.47-1 not installing?

i'm using another mirror (located in the U.S.) now and inkscape is there..
hi,
according to [1], the latest version of inkscape in the extra repository should be 0.47-1.
however, when running
%> pacman -Ss inkscape
extra/inkscape 0.46-14
A vector-based drawing program - svg compliant
pacman replies that the latest version is 0.46-14, even after
%> pacman -Syy
and reinstalling inkscape.
am i missing something very obvious? could it be that my mirror is not yet up-to-date? inkscape 0.47-1 was released 4 days ago, according to [1].
thanks,
-sebastian

  • [SOLVED] Unable to run binaries not installed with pacman.

I am trying to use a program called Jamulus, and after successfully building from source I tried to run the binary.  However, this gave a "Permision Denied" error, despite me owning the file and have execute permisions for it.  Even when I attempted to run it as root it did not work.
I decided to try with other programs, such as Blender downloaded from the website (I am aware that there is an update to date version in the repositories, however this was for testing purposes), which also would not run.
    I am just using:
    ./Jamulus
I completed the beginners guide and everything else seems to work fine.  Is this actually a permissions problem or is something else going on?
    Thank you for your time,
    Mark

    Here you go:
    $file Jamulus
Jamulus: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=96f41d8fd0ca68528a6ea945d624d7987589643c, not stripped
WorMzy wrote:Where have you built the file? Specifically, what filesystem is it on, and what are the mount options?
It's on a ext4 partition, I have a seperate home partition so I do not mount it manually, but the fstab options are "defaults, user".
Is there a specific mount option I would need to be able to run binarys?  I haven't done much with mount options because I mostly only manually mount flash drives to copy files.

I had the same issue after I upgrade to Yosemite. I was on VirtualBox 4.2.
After I upgrade VirtualBox to 4.3.18, it seems back to work again. The Check for Updates menu told me 4.2 is the latest so I have to download 4.3.18 from VirtualBox website instead. Good luck...

  • How to solve "this type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed"?

    Hi all,
I've just started using a new computer with WIndows 8.1 within the last week and have loaded my Adobe Premiere Elements 11.0 software into it.
In trying to view and edit a video I created on my old computer, I got "Media Pending" and "Media Offline" notices as soon as I began. The source files are located on an external drive with a permanent letter designation. I began the process of reconnecting my Project Assets files with the source files this morning, but have now encountered a new roadblock. Each time I try, I get the message "this type of file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed." It offers no information or options other than to click "OK," which is not very helpful.
All the source files are located in one folder on my external drive. I have been able to reconnect the JPEGs and the mp3 source files but not the AVI video files.
Here are three screenshots. The first is the "Media Offline" message, the second is the message I receive when I try to reconnect my Project Assets to the source files and the third is a screenshot of the codecs installed on the new computer.
Here is my new computer information:
    Model: Del Inspiron 3847
    Intel Core i5-4460
    CPU @ 3.20 GHz  3.20 GHz
    RAM 8 GB
    System type: 64-bit, x64-based processor
I hope someone can guide me. What do I need to do to solve this problem?
    Thank you.

Thank your for the information supplied.
But, what are the properties of this .avi file that you seek?
    Video Compression
    Audio Compression
    Frame Size
    Frame Rate
    Interlaced or Progressive
    Pixel Aspect Ratio
Right now of prime interest is the video compression that is being wrapped by that AVI wrapper/container.
    AVCHD.avi
    MotionJPEG.avi
    XviD.avi
    DviX.avi
    other
There are instances were a particular video compression or a particular container/wrapper format is each supported by Premiere Elements, but
not a combo of those particular two. But, in this instance, I suspect this to be a MotionJPEG video codec issue, but your details will
point us to the actual situation, and we will plan troubleshooting strategy from there.

  • [SOLVED] Since updating to Java 1.6.0_33 on my MacBook running OSX 10.6.8, websites say Java not installed in Firefox, but works in Chrome

I work for User Testing, which uses a Java-based screen recorder to make videos of people using commercial websites and offering spoken feedback on the site. Since installing the Java 1.6.0_33 update for Snow Leopard on my MacBook, the User Testing screen recorder does not recognize that Java is installed, and won't work.
If I switch to Chrome, all works smoothly. I have the latest version of Firefox, and have installed the latest updates. I have opened Java Preferences in my Utilities, and made sure that the checkbox "Enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications" is checked. I have cleared the cache and cookies in Firefox. The problem still persists.
User Testing says no other Mac users have reported the problem, and so they cannot help me. I rely on a Firefox add-on that is not available for Chrome to notify me of new User Testing jobs (which are normally claimed in seconds), so it is not practical for me to simply switch to Chrome or another browser.
Interestingly, when checking my plugins in order to fill out the information required below in this help request, I was sent to a Firefox page that says "For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Java. Please upgrade to the latest version."
When I click the link, it says that Apple supplies its own version of Java, which of course I have already installed. Guess this is the root of the problem, but how do I fix it?
    EDITED TO ADD SOLUTION:
After even more Googling, I eventually stumbled on the solution. In the Firefox menu, I chose Help>Troubleshooting Information, and clicked "Show in Finder" under Application Basics. I then quit Firefox, clicked on the Profile folder, deleted the file "pluginreg.dat", and restarted Firefox. Java now shows up among my plugins, and is enabled by default. The failure of pluginreg.dat to update automatically was supposed to be an old Firefox problem that has been solved, but apparently that is not always the case.
Thank you to everyone who answered.

I read somwhere that firefox disables certain versions of java because it might give control of your computer to other malicious websites
I think you have to go to the java website and down load the version you need and enable it in firefox's prefrences
Sorry I may be a veteran in using firefox, but I know very little since I hardly had problems with mozilla untill just very recently hope this helps

On your profile, you say that you are using Mountain Lion. Is that correct? If you are using Mountain Lion, you don't have to download the Mountain Lion installer again.
Also, that error is usually caused by problems with your Internet connection or your hard disk, so first, open Disk Utility, select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and verify the disk. If it's OK, you have problems with your Internet connection, so contact with your ISP

    Rajein

    Yes, I did try it.
I completely uninstalled Firefox (including personal settings, bookmarks, add-ons etc.) and then I installed Firefox 24 from scratch. The outcome is unchanged. Namely, it installs it and then right when it is about to start for the very first time, it hangs. If I run the task manager I can see the process firefox32. It shows as if it is running. But in fact it is hanging doing nothing. It is almost as if the process is waiting for something to happen and that never occurs. Note that this should not have anything to do with, say, an incompatible add-on/plug in because I had them all removed. I also removed adobe flash prior to the installation and run the malware removal program too.

But when I go to check if it's installed:

The JREs are there, but the JDK is not. So somehow it's installed and not installed at the same time. How do I tell pacman that the installed package is not installed when it says it's both installed and not installed? Pacman -Rdd does not work as it's not installed. Pacman -S doesn't work as it's installed.

Thank you very much for your help. I greatly appreciate it. I only use pacman to upgrade, update, or remove anything. Even if the package is from the AUR; in which case I use the -U. In this case, I tried to install the JRE, JRE headless, and the JDK at the same time. All of the tanked, so I used the pacman -Rdd to remove the JDK package. That's when the trouble started.
If it's safe to use the --force command in this case, I'll try it.
    **UPDATE**
Looks like using the --force option worked. When I run the previous command, I get:
    $ pacman -Qo /usr/bin/appletviewer
    /usr/bin/appletviewer is owned by jdk7-openjdk 7.u21_2.3.9-4

Thanks again for the help! I'll mark the thread 'solved'.

Sounds to me like a hardware issue or maybe something is stuck in the headphone jack. When you plug in headphones, the jack in the iPad is switched to play only through the headphones and not the iPad's speakers. Sounds like either the jack is faulty or there is something stuck in the headphone jack. Get a flashlight & look inside the jack for anything that looks like it doesn't belong in there.
Regardless, I'd take it in to an Apple Store if you have one nearby to have it checked.
EDIT: "Ocean20" had an excellent suggestion above. While doing that, you may also want to rotate/twist the plug in the jack back & forth a few times as well. Dirty contacts can often times be cleared by doing this.

  • I developed an application on xcode 4.2 which is not installing on ios 6.1.3. can any one solve my problem.

I developed application on xcode 4.2. I prepared .ipa using enterprise distributuin provisional profile file. I am able to installing that application on iPad which is having iOS 5.0. but which is not installing on iOS6.1.3 .
please provide the reasin why I am unable installing on iOS 6.1.3.
The application which is developed on lower version Xcode will not install on coming iOS versions like iOS 6.0, 6.1.3, 7.0.?
To install on latest version what should be the process?

Unfortunately, I don't have an earlier copy on my computer, since I hadn't needed to use the podcast app until I finally went through all the episodes I had that were playable in music.
Thanks for your reply, even though it's exactly the kind of answer I didn't want to hear. ;) How aggravating. Ugh.

  • Fusion-icon error: glxinfo not installed. [SOLVED]

Hi,  I am running gnome at the moment and I am trying to get compiz and emerald started.  I type into the terminal:
    [semperfiguy: ~]$ fusion-icon
    * Detected Session: gnome
    * execution of "which glxinfo" failed
    * Error: glxinfo not installed!
And I get that error.  Now when I run glxinfo from the it spits out a whole bunch of stuff.  So it is obviously installed correct?  So why is it giving me this problem?

    This is what I get:
    [semperfiguy: ~]$ which glxinfo
    bash: which: command not found
Installed "which" and it works fine.. thank you!
