[SOLVED] iwlwifi suddenly cannot connect (related to gnutls)

Downgrading gnutls (3.0.17-1 -> 3.0.15-1) worked. Just wondering if there is a better way to do this as I really don't like holding packages back.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah it couldn't connect. My card is a:
04:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Advanced-N 6230 (rev 34)
I saw a post earlier on a modprobe option. I will mess with it tomorrow and post back anything I can find.

I suddenly cannot connect to any wifi with my ipad 1. in settings my wifi is turned on. My home connection shows up under Choose a network and has a strong signal. I have reset the Wifi under General. But when I type in my password it still says, "Unable to join the network."

    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • Suddenly Cannot Connect Remotely

    Hi there,
I went away for a few days and decided to unplug my Time Capsule while I was gone..I realize now that this wasn't the best idea.
I used to be able to connect remotely without problems and I've had no problems whatsoever until now.
When I try to "Connect to Server" now, I get "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in afp://XX.XXX.XXX.XX could not be read or written. (Error Code -36)".
Can someone please tell me whats going on and why I suddenly cannot connect remotely?
    Thank you,
    Josh

I just began experiencing the same thing. I hope someone can help with an answer!

  • Macbook suddenly cannot connect to WiFi

    Hi guys,
All of a sudden, overnight, my Macbook Pro cannot connect to our home wifi network. I have tried every trick in the book, rebooting, changing "locations," changing the password of the router, moving around the priority of the difference connections, but whatever I do I get the same error message when I try logging in:connection timed out.
Until now it has functioned perfectly since we moved in here a month ago, and I have no explanation for what happened. At one point it looked like the problem was related to the ip-address as it could connect to the wifi but not get an ip-address, but now I cannot even replicate that!
Another issue I am considering is whether it could be disturbance from another wifi network (there is like 15 of them active in our building) Could that explain it?
    Thanks!

try removing the security from your router, and connecting to the unsecured network.
If that fails, try to connect to another location, and see if you can connect to someone elses network.
Next connect the computer directly to the modem and see if that works.

  • Has anyone solved the notorious "Cannot Connect to Youtube" Error?

Whenever I open the Youtube app I get "Cannot connect to Youtube" no matter what why network I'm on no matter how I'm connected. EVERYTHING else on the phone works perfectly.
Even the youtube website works fine via safari but the videos WILL NOT PLAY.
I have tried all the hit or miss speculative solutions that people claim work for them:
*Change the date past the year 2030 and then back again.
    *Hard reset the phone
    *Power on power off
    *Reset network settings
    *Full reset of settings
    *Trying different networks
*Connecting to the computer and synching the phone and the apps
None of these work. Some people claim success with one or more of the different methods above but it doesn't work for me and many others. This issue has been going on for a LONG time and it is WIDESPREAD (just search this forum or the internet at large via google and you will see). It spans across multiple devices (iPhone and iPod Touch alike) and multiple software versions across multiple generations of the devices. I find it appalling that Apple is silent on this gaping bug.
Does anyone have a solution? Does anyone know how to get Apple to DO SOMETHING?
    Thanks.

Are you senior executives in Apple's cost cutting in the customer service and quality control department or what?
+If it works fine on your friends iPhones when they come over it does not sound like a bug, it sounds like a problem with your iPhone.+
It IS a problem with my iPhone. Anything that causes one of the built in operating applications to fail frequently under normal use whether or not it happens on every device consistently is absolutely by definition a bug.
+Explain why the alleged bug is not on every iPhone then ? This is the bit that you fail to explain in every post you make.+
It may not be on every phone but it definitely is on MANY, what triggers it is unknown. Microsoft releases hundreds if not thousands of bug fixes every year. Why don't all the HUNDREDS of millions of Windows users all experience every single bug? By your logic none of these bugs exists because every single user doesn't experience them. I can't remember the last time I personally experienced one of the bugs that all these mountains of bug fixes I download through windows update automatically correct so I guess none of those bugs actually exist.
+I have read a lot more articles by people who think the world is flat and that means nothing. There are 10 million odd iPhones, 50 people isn't a conclusive fault. explain why 9,999,950 of them appear to work fine?+
There are thousands of people with this problem. With a problem like this a person with even shred of intellect would read a few posts from a few different sources and come to an informed conclusion on the issue rather than dedicate the next six months of their life to reading every single thing ever written about it. Once you see the pattern is exactly the same even in 10 plus posts and it's obvious there are THOUSANDS more you can conclude it's not an isolated incident.
+Thats hardly conclusive - there are youtube video's on how to make an egg custard but that doesn't mean nobody can make one without instruction, or that all egg custards made are defective somehow.+
Inappropriate and just flat out wrong analogy. If there was a "how to make custard when it fails in a specific way consistently" then your analogy would be appropriate. The "how to FIX x" youtube video is not analogous to "how to use your iphone" or "how to do x." In any event comparing egg custard to an iphone is clearly apples to oranges - or more like apples to nuclear reactors.
+Don't bother quoting Google Stats - you can get hits on every search string you put in, and one post gets copied again and again and comes up as multiple hits.+
Really? I had no idea google one of the most successful companies in the world had such a faulty and defective search engine that it gives phony results. Have you told them? Maybe they will hire you to fix it.
You may get SOME hits for any garbage you put in (not really ANY but a lot of garbage) but they won't be very many.
"asldfjla adfkjdsafd" - 0 hits (looks like you're wrong again)
"random string of nonsense searching" - 22,500 hits
"iphone "compass not working"" - 7,700 hits
"ipod "calendar not working"" - 4,570 hits
"iphone "calendar not working"" - 8,490 hits
"iphone "stocks not working"" - 3 hits (really google makes too many phony hits? Are you sure you dont' mean not enough - do you really believe only 3 people ever uttered these words on the ENTIRE internet???)
"iphone "calculator not working"" - 23,900 hits
"iphone "cannot connect to youtube"" - 980,000 hits
"ipod "cannot connect to youtube"" - 859,000 hits
Yep I see it, it's settled now. It definitely must be something I just made up. Looks like nobody else is having that problem. Must not mean a thing that there are more than 100 times more articles on this built in app than a couple others I picked at random. I'm glad you settled this for me how google is broken and only my iphone is misconfigured and the "cannot connect to youtube" error is not widespread.

  • Apple TV all of a sudden cannot connect to Wifi

My apple tv just stopped being able to connect to my wifi.  It locates it and all of my other devices, both apple and PC are connected to the Wifi and streaming without a problem.  I've restarted and tried to restore, troubleshoot, disconnect, try another wifi....etc.   i see a lot of similar issues on the discussion boards but no responses from someone that has a resolution.  I am in Buenos Aires and have been for over a month...it has worked fine up until today.  There are no apple dealers in BA so i'm out of luck if i can't get this to work.
it all started with my apple tv not being able to set the date and time....i'm assuming because it couldn't connect to the wifi.  I don't have an option to connect via ethernet either as it's a community router in the building.
    Any possible reason for this...resolutions?
    Thanks for everyone's help

Mine just started doing exactly the same. I'm in Tokyo and the house is wired for technology: thr router, airports, computers, ipads, iphones are all working absolutely fine. One minute I was watching Dexter the next asks for my password for network right out of the blue. Then says "Cannot connect to network" and gives and error -6, whatever the devil that is.
Really annoying..nothing else wrong with my network as I say, and I haven't updated any firmware in airport etc to disturb what was a perfect status quo. Really really annoying....wish I could do something other than share your pain Bitta Panda....but I've tried resetting everything as well - apple tv included.

  • Suddenly cannot connect to Internet

I am suddenly not able to connect to the Internet. I had not changed any settings. However, I did have some monitor freezing and garbled images on the monitor, for which I had to shut down and restart the computer a couple of times.
I have ATT Uverse (no help from their support); my computer is connected directly via ethernet to a PlugLink 9650 Ethernet Adapter and to a Netopia Router. I no longer can share computers on my LAN.
If anyone can glean some insight from the following diagnostics below, I would really appreciate some suggestions as to how to resolve this. I am planning to have a Uverse person visit my home to verify if it is a problem caused by Uverse or is something Mac related.
Thanks for any help or suggestions,
    Shelley
    Network Diagnostics status:
    Using Automatic Location:
    Ethernet 1 is Green OK
Ethernet 2 was Yellow and said No IP Address (This is the one plugged into the Netopia). I looked up the current IP address from http://http://checkip.dyndns.org/ , entered it and now it is Green OK
    Network Settings are Green OK
    ISP is Green OK
Internet is either Yellow and when I go to a browser, it says "resolving host" but doesn't connect.
    Server is either Yellow

Packets bound for the Internet from your Mac will go over the topmost working interface shown in
    System preferences > Network
So you need to decide what path they will be taking, and get that path working.
Your Netopia Router already knows its own Internet-reachable name, or it cannot possibly talk on the Internet, and cannot get you to that lookup site. Every Router also uses a "private" IP Address to talk on your local Network. Those addresses will be from one of the three ranges that are not reachable from the Internet:
    IP address range
    10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
    172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
    192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
The Router generally takes the lowest address in one of those ranges (e.g., 192.168.0.1), and then assigns the addresses for other devices using DHCP (e.g., 192.168.0.2, then .03, then 0.4, and so on.)

  • [SOLVED] Network Manager cannot connect to wifi after suspend

There appears to be similar threads recently, but they relate to no wifi at all. I did some updates today, and now if I suspend or hibernate, network manager cannot reconnect to my wifi. For those using the arch repo kernel the next release will solve this issue. So I suggest waiting for this (no more than a few days) and use the LTS kernel in the meantime (or using a fixed ath9k module if already built).
Thanks for that heiko. I thought that would be the case, hence I just waited.
    Will mark this as solved.
    Cheers.

  • Suddenly cannot connect to server "you do not have permission to access the server"

I am one of only two Macs in our office.
Up until now I have been able to connect to our shared folders/server just fine. Occasionally and randomly I would seem to get booted off, but would just log back in.
Now suddenly I get "Connection Failed You do not have permission to access this server".
I seem to get it whether its cifs, afp or smb.
After it denies the connection it also boots me from email. As soon as I cancel the attempt to connect the email recognizes my password again.
I have tried rebooting, repairing permissions and having our network admin change my password and nothing seems to work.
If I enter an incorrect pw it recognizes it as such. I only get the above message when I use the correct username and PW.
Additionally if I go to the other mac in our office I am able to connect using the same credentials without any problem.
    This is via ethernet.

  • No IP address...suddenly cannot connect to my home wireless network

My wireless network had been working PERFECTLY from the moment i got my iBook...but its been about a month now that its just not working. And i've looked online, called for support...and i can't figure out what the heck it wrong.
I have a Westell VersaLink Gateway modem/router...and the AirPort card in my iBook G4 worked perfectly since i brought my iBook home from the store. But starting about a month ago...it started giving me some trouble. I was surfing the web when all the sudden, i couldn't visit anymore web pages...and according the the wireless thingy in the task bar, i have a 100% strong connection to the wireless settings. And after trying to figure out whats wrong. i found out that my iBook isn't getting the rightIP addres...
I tried so many things (restarting my router...many times, deleting my system prefs, manually typing in the IP address, etc.) but nothing worked. and i'm starting to get real frustrated with having to be connected via ethernet cable into my router.
So i can connect to my router via ethernet cable...but not wireless...does anyone know what i could do?
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

My computer is doing the same thing! My hard drive crashed a week ago--it worked before the new hard drive, but no longer. I can get on other wireless networks--at the Apple store, my coffeehouse, my friend's house--but no longer at home. At home, it shows full bars and says I'm connected, but I can't actually navigate anywhere on the web. My connection is through a Linksys router, using SBC/Yahoo DSL.
Any new ideas that might account for this?

  • [SOLVED] Broadcom bcm4318 cannot connect anymore

    Hello,
I'm using arch on a HP Compaq nc6120 laptop with a Broadcom bcm4318 wifi chip. So far it worked correctly with the b43 driver. Now I have the biggest difficulties to connect to any ssid using NetworkManager, although surprisingly it happens to work from times to times. The networks are detected, but connection attempts fail.
I have browsed the forums and the web without success.
I suspect it started with kernel 2.6.29 but I'm not sure it is linked to it. The problem happens with WPA as well as unencrypted networks, so I guess wpa-supplicant is not to suspect.

I probably found the cause of the problem : I had followed recommendations in the wiki (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Net … Kit_issues) and applied the first option (by modifying /etc/pam.d/kde).
I came into some authorizations problems : mounting usb devices with Dolphin became impossible, and I strongly suspect my wifi problems happened after that.
I rolled back the modification yesterday and since that I haven't encountered connection problems anymore.
