[SOLVED] KDE 4.11 "Special Application Settings" programs don't show
After upgrading to KDE 4.11 none of the programs I had previously configured to be present in all my KDE activities did show up anywhere.
For instance, in KDE 4.10 I configured Thunderbird to be present in all my KDE activities, after the KDE 4.11 upgrade I could launch Thunderbird, it had the window icon in the task bar, I could see it running in top/System Activity but the application window is nowhere to be found.
The solution was to remove all the special settings of the applications by going to
System Settings -> Window Behavior -> Window Rules
and deleting each entry. After that I could reconfigure again each application without any issue.

Thanks for this... I search for this in upstream but apparently need work on my searching methodology. I'll have to blow out my old kwin notification config so that is doesn't look so hideous.
3) Upstream bug, already fixed for 4.11.1, discussed in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=168520
I did the manual patch, and while it did remove the black screen before the wallpaper loads, this did seem to make the load time for desktop appearance much longer than in 4.10. Still, the patch is a large improvement.

I would recommend testing the SMS reply forwarding to your mobile number. Depending upon the results and if this works for you, you could then contact Skype Customer Service to cancel and request a refund.
In other words, SMS will be received via your mobile number, not via your Skype Number.

[Solved] Programs don't show up in gnome search
Hi everybody,
I just completed my first Arch install and I'm so far very, very pleased with how quick and lightweight it is. I just have a quick question.
I just installed firefox using pacman, but for some reason it doesn't show up in the gnome search launcher thing. If i hit the super key and then search for "firefox" I just get no results. I can launch firefox using alt+F2.
Is there something I need to do to get it to show up?

[SOLVED] pcmanfm lost default applications settings for office docs
I'm not sure if it was the Libreoffice recent update or not, but I no longer have any application settings for office documents (ppt, doc, xls, ods, odp, odt, etc.). When I right click to choose an application, none are listed. I tried the suggestion from the wiki to install gnome-menus but the situation was no better after a logout/login.
Even inputting a custom command like:
/usr/bin/soffice --impress %f
does not work. It seems that the "Open with" dialog is completely function-less.
Any suggestions/experience with this?

Part of my problem was trying to use xdg-mime to set defaults for "application/ppt" when it's really "application/powerpoint."
I found this list of mimetypes that was really helpful for setting defaults for .doc, .xls, and .ppt.
There are also listings for the correct mimetypes for .odt, .ods, and .odp. In the end, my ~/.local/share/applications/defaults.list looks like this:

Special Window Settings in Kwin crashes

I start the computer the screen has blue vertical stripes and says that the Adobe Air application can not be found. Some of my programs don't run and say:

This happens the same whenever I try to install.
To my untrained eye the application is not being recognised as an application and I cannot work out how to get it to do that.

Default application settings loses on restart or LaunchServices problem?

Problem:
After doing this tutorial:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1428. I have a problem with default application settings (file association). In other words, file function "Open with" is empty. I chose default app for specific file type, do function "change all" (or just start specific application) and everything works fine. Files are associated whit that app. But after restar (or shutdown) every association is reset to none (open whit also empty). FileVault is off.
So after restart I must to associate files whit programs manual, or launch all programs.
What I tried:
Deleting com.apple.LaunchServices.plist - no help
Script run in Terminal: /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchS ervices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed - works, restores default applications and Open with list (but only till restart)
Onyx app - no help
MAINTENANCE app- works after first restart, after second restart the same problem
RCDefaultApp app- no help

Mac OS and Application Settings Wiped Out
Hi folks,
I shut down my MBP earlier today and started it up this evening to find that all of my desktop settings, system settings, application settings, and desktop/dock icons are all gone and set to default. It's like I'm using an entirely new profile. I have checked to see if my home directory is renamed and it isn't. All of my normal icons are within <user>/Desktop. I have one application in particular called SofToken which is critical to me being able to VPN into work, and the settings for it are wiped out...the only way for me to fix that is to be physically connected to the corporate network which isn't an option right now. So for work purposes (which is what this laptop is for), I'm hosed.
I have tried a simple reboot. Tried repairing permissions (with a reboot). I don't have a time machine backup (yes, shame on me).
I've googled this extensively and have found a number of similar questions with no definitive answers. Surely someone knows what the deal is and how to fix it. I'm not a Mac OS wizard, as I'm a recent convert from a life long addiction to Windows.
I have not installed a program or an update for DAYS, so it should not be that.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!I figured this out. Somehow the home directory for my account got changed to /. Not really sure how that happened, but once I changed it back to /Users/<username> all my settings came back. A note for anyone trying to figure out if this happened to you...right click on your blank desktop and click "Get Info". The location under "Where" will tell you where the Desktop folder is located on your hard drive. If it isn't /Users/<your_username> there is a good chance your account's home directory got changed. To fix, go into System Preferences>Accounts>Right Click your Account and go under Advanced Options to change the home directory. If the blank desktop is under /Users/<your_username> then your original home directory likely got renamed.
Once my settings came back, however, the Desktop was still blank. I had an empty Desktop folder in / from my messed up home directory, and I couldn't delete it through Finder. So a quick trip to terminal and a
sudo su root
cd /
rm -r Desktop
then a logout and login and my Desktop was back to it's normal self.

Is it can grant an admin right for special application ?(No Runas as Administrator)
Dear All
Background: We have an application which run on users group in server 2000 SP4 is normal.
We want upgrade the OS to Win7 , on the Win7 the application can not launch on normal users group.
I was try the properties of compatibility to server 2000 and choose "Run this program as an administrator" and edit the regedit key permission , both of all is not work on my case.
It is ok right-click the application and runas as administrator, but on the other hand I find runas administrator has some other error with the application.
May I know is it has a method can grant the admin right to special user when running special application ?

What application can not run in Windows 7? I think there is a application compatibility issue, so please attempt to run Program Compability troubleshooter.
Also, you said you got some error while you ran as administrator with runas command. And what are the errors?
RUNAS /user:<Username> Program
Based on my knowledge, we cannot grant the special user with admin right unless you add this special user to Administrators group. When a special user is running a application requiring administrator permission, it will prompt to input administrator username
and password.

I have tried resetting the application settings for Word 1997-2003 -- browsing for my Word 2007 program, instructing Firefox to save the file, or to ask me what to do. In all cases, Firefox simply opens a new blank tab. I have also tried resetting the setting and closing then reopening Firefox.

With firefox 4.0.1 I encountered this problem too. '.doc' files don't open the 'Ask Always' Popup asking either to open or save the fine.
This works fine for 'docx', 'ppt' or other file type.
I only encountered this problem since I upgraded to FF 4
My application setting for both Word extension type are the same.
Any solution to this?

I believe that I have made the necessary changes in Tools, Applications settings associating types of files to programs.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem.

It is hard to tell which plugin is needed to play that webcast. You appear to have Flash and WMP and Silverlight. Other popular but less used plugins are RealPlayer and QuickTime.

Unable to open Application Settings from C6
I am using my Nokia C6 since October 2010 and all of a sudden for over a month now, I am not able to open my application settings manager. Also, the download option in Nokia store from my phone is also grayed out.
Any idea why am I facing this issue.
My free phone memory is 141 MB and free external memory is 8 GB.
Also to add that I alwyas keep updating my phone software and applications whenever a higher version is found.

In order to fix this issue, I would advise you to perform a hard reset. First of all, back up your data using Nokia Suite (Tools > Back up). Once your data is fully backed up, type *#7370# on the keypad. Default lock code is 12345.
The hard reset will dellete all your personal information, that's why a back up is very important.
Alternatively, you may also check for updates on Nokia Suite (by going to Tools > Updates).
If the problem persists, I would suggest you to contact your local Nokia care.

It most frequently happens in PS when running Dfine 2.0. I have no clue what triggers the Bridge closure. It happens randomly.
CS3, so nobody gives a tinkers dam, I suppose.
I see this kind of message in software testing on a regular basis. Of course, when the test is under way, the software is generating a detailed log file which we package up as part of a bug report. Then at the bug scrubs, lively discussions ensue as to who has to fix what!
I can only image what would happen if the Dfine people and the PS people had to sit through one of those! -

I have TFS server installed and working with other SharePoint farm. (TFS installed, SharePoint extension installed and Granted Access for TFS.
When Setup TFS - SharePoint Web Application Settings, It ask for the three values:

What notice about the TFS sites that are working is that they are Path Based Site Collection. Created with SharePoint Web Application managed path (like
http://spserver/sites/tfs_site1) and so it easy to see it will work.

We start using Host Name Site Collection (HNSC) to get the benefit of multiple unique site name without having multiple web application for each. Work great but when we tried to setup and extend TFS service on the HNSC, we could

After doing lot of searching on this, I came up pretty empty and I don't know if that is possible so my question is Have anyone able to setup TFS to work with SharePoint 2013 Host Name Site Collection?
If you have, a simple yes will be great but please share or even if anyone think it is possible or not possible, please share too.
