[SOLVED] KDE 4.6 can't create user-places.xbel file

Lately I have been having an issue when I log in to KDE 4.6 for the first time on a user account.  A window pops up with the following error:
"Unable to save bookmarks in /home/troy/.local/share//user-places.xbel. Reported error was: Insufficient permissions in target directory.. This error message will only be shown once. The cause of the error needs to be fixed as quickly as possible, which is most likely a full hard drive."
The drive has over 14GB of free space so the suggestion of a full drive seems unlikely.
The permissions of the directories are:
~/.local            700 (drwx------)
~/.local/share  700 (drwx------)
I am listed as the owner of the directories so it would seem that I have appropriate permissions.
When KDE finishes its startup, I can verify that user-places.xbel does not exist.  However, when I log off, the files does get created and all seems well.  I have discovered that if I create ~/.local/share (with the same permissions) before logging on, then the file gets created and the error never pops up.
So, does anyone have any idea why I would be getting this error and how I could make it stop?
thanks

JokerBoy wrote:You don't have to change anything. It's something normal.. If you are using bluedevil for example, he's trying to modify user-places.xbel but it gives you that error 'cause the file or folder isn't created already..
Perfect, I figured it must be something like that.  My next test will be without bluedevil to see if the error goes away.  Thanks for the assist.

Can i create AIF or WAV files larger then 4 gig?  It seems like I have been doing that all along, but suddenly FCPX and Compressor 4 will not allow me to create and AIF file bigger then 4gig.  It claims that the file format does not support sizes above 4

    Hi...
per def. WAV 32bit does not support larger files than 4GB (sometimes 2GB).
You can use the BroadCast WAV format. Which will enable that.
However, if the destination format (Your final movie you wanna export to in Compressor and Fcpx) is WAV and not broadcast WAV it wont work due to the 4GB limit.
    Aiff is limited as well.

<b>So, Looking at the initial error ( ora-1017 ) and the output of the queries I wonder if you have changed the DB password.
I do think so. and I think you did it at DB level ( alter user identified by ... )
Then the problem seems to be that you do not have the password in SAPUSER table in sync with the password you changed.
In SAP ABAP systems you cannot change the password at DB level. You have to use BRCONNECT to do so, it will keep the passwords in SYNC:

  • Can't create user into backend system and contents in portal.

    hi expert,
I installed EP(EP,BI-JAVA) as add in installation on existing BI-ABAP system based NW04s.
I can log on portal by abap user. But unubale to create any content and user in ABAP through portal.
What must be done after setup Addin JAVA STACK??
I assign following roles to test user.
    Administrators :UME Database
Authenticated Users:Built-in Group Authenticated Users Built-in Groups Adapter
    Everyone
but the error message is like "An error occurred in the persistence. The original and possible not translatet message was: "BAPI_USER_CREATE1@BWBCLNT100: ID=01, NUMBER=491, MESSAGE=You are not authorized to create users in group". Contact your system administrator. "
If anyone can advice me, it would be appreciated very much.
    Regards
    MASAKI

If this is what you mean "But unubale to create any content and user in ABAP through portal"....
creating users in portal is not possible since your UME is now linked to the ABAP in an add-in installation or a dual stack system users can only be created in the ABAP system and with the roles SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION_RO /without RO should let you create users in the ABAP stack....
you can only assign roles to users on the Portal for the ABAP users ...
    heres the reason...
Combined AS for ABAP + Java installation
If you install an AS for ABAP + Java, UME is automatically set up to use the ABAP user management of the same Web AS installation. This option uses the configuration file dataSourceConfiguration_abap.xml.
    AS for Java installation
If you install SAP Net Weaver AS for Java the UME is linked to the java database with users and groups in the Java system database, or if you want to subsequently connect an LDAP directory to the UME. This option uses the configuration file dataSourceConfiguration_database_only.xml

  • Can't Create User Account

I'm using 10.5.8, logged in as an Admin, and can't create a specific new user account. The system had this account on it previously, but the account was deleted by another Admin. I'm trying to recreate the account, but it's not working. If the home folder isn't there, OS X does create it, but doesn't add the user to the list of users. Logging out and attempting to login with the account does not work. I can create other accounts, but not recreate the one that was deleted - regardless of which Admin account I'm logged in as. Any suggestions?

Have you run the disk utility program? Press "commandshiftu" to open up the Utilities window and run the disk utility and the directory utility. Also, if you have a copy of "Disk Warrior" sitting around trying running that.
Also, check under Computername/users/deleted users, if your username shows up in that file, or on that path, please trash (back them up if you need them) said files, and empty your trash while holding down the "alt/Option" key.
It may be that parts or all of the user account are still intact, try logging in via the "Terminal" application, press "commandshiftu" to open up the Utilities window then open the program "Terminal"
Type "login USERNAME" where "USERNAME" is the name of the user account.
You will be prompted for a password, enter your password for the account.
If the password is wrong, or the username does not exist, an error message, "Login incorrect" will print on the terminal.
If you log in correctly, the username displayed will change to said username. If that happens, you need to remove the user account before recreating said account, follow instructions below to remove and recreate said account.
If you have your install disk, boot from that and change the password for "root" to something you know, write this down. Boot as normal and open the application called "Terminal"
Type "login root" then enter your root password,
first try removing the user account you are trying to create type "rmuser USERNAME" where "USERNAME" is the name of the user account you are trying to create.
Then use the "adduser" command to add the user account you want to make, type "adduser USERNAME" where "USERNAME" is the name of the user account you want to create, then type "passwd USERNAME PASSWORD" where "USERNAME" is the name of the user account you want to create and "PASSWORD" is the password you want linked to that user account. After you finish all of that, type "logout" and then quit the program.
Try to login to your new user account.
If you get any error messages please post.

  • Can you create user accounts in LabWindows applications?

I need to be able to create password protected user accounts for my LabWindows application.  I say there was  a password control.  Are there any other built-in functions in LabWindows to create and maintain user accounts for an application?  Any add-ons?

CVI does not integrate native functions to tailor an application based on a user account, you must design and code this section on your own.
As an help in this matter, CVI offers a password control to permit a user to enter a password with the usual, asterisk-masked input field: where and how to store passwords and what to do with them is on your responsibility.
As an additional help, I have created a small sample project to permit hashing a text (e.g. a password): since hash does not permit to decode back the original text, you can safely store the hashed text without special precautions (OK, we're not designing a banking application, aren't we?  ); to check a password entered by the user you only need to hash the password and compare the hash with the original, saved one: if they're the same, then you can permit the user to log in. Despite it's quite old (developed in CVI7), that sample still works correctly in newer IDEs: I have tested it in 2012SP1 without problems.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Can't create user

My computer shut down for no apparent reason. When I switched it on again, it didn't recognise my password. Luckily, I had another user and could log into that. The main user folder is in the home directory too with everything intact. The user has disappeared altogether from the Accounts pane in System Prefs. I logged in as root administrator to create a user with the same name as the folder. It all went smoothly and asked if I want to use the existing folder with that name as the home folder. I clicked OK but then nothing. No new user was created. I tried it several times. I even tried with a different name. It created a folder but no user. Can anyone shed some light?

    Dear friends,
I have a little problem while i running my Oracle BI 11g. After I install it into my computer Win7 32bit, I tried to create the Analysis , Dash Board and Reports. I have found a problem after i create my testing reports , the problem is " I can't find the User Creation in Admin Tab ". What should I do ? Do I need patch to apply for it?
or Do i need the license for it too?
I hope you can help me....
    Thank,
DorangYou don't create user's in the front end. You will need to login into web logic's console and create user's there. Only thing you can create in the analytic's administration page as far as security goes is catalog groups.
Refer to this link to learn how to create users and groups using WLST. ( http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=4981 )
It would be easier to use WLST if you were to create a bulk of users, as it would be time consuming to create one by one via front end.
    Please mark if helps.
    Thanks,

  • Can't Create User after migration

I recently upgraded a PPC xserver running leopard to a new Power Mac running lion server. Everything seemd to go smoothly but after a more thorough look I am having issues. The main one being I cannot create users in the I go into the server.app and the + is greyed out. The only way I have been successful in adding users is through system preferences.
I am also having a trouble with my web server it appears as though even though the service is running I can't get any pages to load via a web browser.
Last issue I know of at this moment is I am una able to start the VPN service. Everyitme I click on the toggle it turns on then goes back to off.
Instead of doing a clean installation I migrated aftert reading that it would be my best bet.
Can anyone hlep me that may have had this or a simlar problem?

The prof_attr file contains the comment:
Can perform most non-security administrative tasks
    for System Admin.
In addition I don't see a corresponding entry in exec_attr and without that then you aren't going to be using that role to run any commands. You can try it in SMC to see if it works there but its doubtful.
You'll probably need to create a separate role and add the user to that role.
A grep of exec_attr shows that User_Management is probably what you're after.

  • Can not create user in Times Ten 7

    Hi All,
I have installed Oracle Times Ten 7.0.4 in my machine. To connect to the databse I have used "connect RunDataCS_tt70_32;" which I found from the ODBC. (I even dont know whether this the correct way to connect or not). Now I have tried to create a user (" create user prashant identified by 'p1'; ") but the command failed saying "15007: Access control not enabled".
Can anybody tell me how can I create a user in Times Ten.
    Thanks,
    Prashant

To be able to create users and have access control applied you must install TimesTen with Access Control enabled (it is an optional feature). When you did your install you replied no (or took the default) to the question 'Do you want to enable Access Control?' (or you did not tick the relevant check box if you are using Windows).
You can enable Access Control for your installation by running the command
    ttmodinstall -enableAccessControl
you need to do this as the instance administrator user (the O/S user who installed the TimesTen instance).
I would strongly advise that you read through the TimesTen QuickStart Guide and other tutorial on the TimesTen OTN site beofre trying to use TimesTen as it will save you a lot of time and many questions to this forum :-)

  • Can't create user with 9iAS(1.0.2.1)

I did a fresh installation of 9ias(1.0.2.1) on a 8.1.7 EE database. Everything works fine until I need to create a Portal user. When I click "Create New users", I got a error window "Error: (WWC-00000)". If I click the "Back" icon on the top of the window, I got the same error window.
Has anyone else has created a new portal user with 9ias(1.0.2.1)?
    Thanks for your help!
    Young

I AM FACING THE SAME ERROR.
THE PROBLEM IS NOT JUST IN THE "CREATE USERS", I THINK THERE IS SOME SORT OF PROBLEM WITH THE "LOGIN SERVER", BECAUSE IF CONNECT TO " http://hostname/pls/portal30_sso, AFTER I INPUT THE LOGIN INFO I GET THE SAME "WWC-00000" ERROR.
WORKING WITH THE PORTAL ITSELF IS OK. ONLY THE FUNCTIONS RELATED TO THE LOGIN SERVER DO NOT WORK.
THIS IS A NEW INSTALLATION (8.1.7 SE + iAS 1.0.2.1 SE UNDER Windows2000).
ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
