[solved] kernel 3.2.8 fails with loading nvidia and virtualbox modules

Topic says it. I just updated from kernel 3.2.7 to 3.2.8 and X won't start. The kernel fails to load the nvidia module with the follwing error: 'Exec format error'. Same for the virtualbox kernel modules. This is on x86_64, multilib and all testing repos enabled.
Downgrade to 3.2.7 by
pacman -S core/linux
solves the issue.

  • [SOLVED] Kernel 2.6.32 tries to load 2.6.31 modules

After upgrading the kernel and firmware [also the kernel26 headers] , when I boot errors are now spat out along the lines of : "modprobe Fatal /lib/modules/ARCH2.6.31 does not exist" and there are no wifi, keyboard, usb etc modules loaded.
So why is it still looking for the old folder? ARCH2.6.32 exists in it's place. Googled to no effect, can anyone help? Something needs to be pointed at the new path but I don't know what. First time a kernel update has ever given me any trouble.
    Cheers

and you're absolutely _sure_ that the image you are loading is infact the 2.6.32-kernel?
At one point (in a previous life) I had a boot-partition (read-only) where I copied from /boot (which was on the root filesystem) after a kernel upgrade (silly, I know - these days I chainload instead). If I forgot to copy the new kernel/initrd, then I would still boot my old one but the modules (obviously) were nowhere to be found ....

  • Failed to load nvidia kernel module

When I try to start x it outputs the following error
Failed to load nvidia kernel module
I'm trying to use the new nvidia-beta drivers from AUR but the same error occurs with ordinary nvidia drivers and the nv drivers. Under xorg.conf I currently have 'nvidia' next to driver and I've also put nvidia in the modules section of rc.conf
when I try to modprobe nvidia is just outputs 'module nvidia not found'

Ended up booting into gnome using the vesa driver (max resolution was 800x600) and downloading the new nvidia beta setup from the nvidia website then going back into terminal and running it. Just had to download make from pacman and it compiled a new nvidia kernel module for me it seems. All works well with the new driver now.
    Thanks.

  • Flash Player download keeps failing with lost connection and then gives up.  satellite Internet connection

    Win XP. Firefox 34.0.5 (latest)
The Flash  Player download keeps failing with lost connection and then gives up.I am on a  satellite Internet connection.
It seems to be extremely slow even when loading the installer which is only 1MB. Then when I run the installer and it starts to download the installation there are frequent messages about losing the connection and then finally gives up.
I have had problems with other software failing when I am on a satellite link. This is most likely because of the huge latency which may be taken as a link failure. Ping times are typically 800ms but can be 2000ms sometimes!

    Hello,
The online shim installer, which you are using actually downloads and installs Flash Player silently in the background.  If your satelite connection is experiencing latency issues it could result in the failure to download.  Please try the full installer posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows page, in the 'Still having problems' section.

    Hi Ashok,
In QA use program "RSTRAN_ROUT_RSFO_CHECK" to check and remove any inconsistencies for the transformations. After that again transport those transformations in new TR and import in QA.
Also you have to search "Transport of Transformation failed with RC= 12 and job: RDDEXECL canceled in Target system" by Dinesh Tiwari.

  • Putting a row into a pageable cache failed with error 9 and error message

    Hi Guys,
I am fetting the follwoing message when the job is scheduled.
Putting a row into a pageable cache failed with error <9> and error message <Db::put: Bad file descriptor>
I read the forum and Manoj has suggested to one of the forum member to change the size of the Pcache setting through the server manager. But I do not see the setting there. can any one please let me know where exactly I can see and increase the size of the Pcache.
    Thanks

    Hi
I've had the same problem.  We know from other (more meaingful) error messages that we ran out of space for the Pageable Cache, but we've just increased it by 50GB and still get the same error.
    Anyone??
Btw i don't think you there is a setting for PCache size - it will just use all the free disk you have on the drive where you have located the PCache directory.

  • [SOLVED] XOrg fails to load Nvidia driver on startup

    Hi,
I'm having a fairly strange issue where XOrg is failing to load my driver when I start up my laptop. I'm using kdm, but this is causing it to fail. However, doing a simple

Hmmmm, that doesn't seem to be the issue. I have a nvidia geforce gtx 670mx. The nvidia website does link me to the 340xx driver for that card, but downgrading to that version still has the same issue. I suspect the issue is in Xorg, since it seems to load the module, but then decides it doesn't have a driver to run for some reason.

    Hi,
I think you have added wrong port entry in services file.
The entry of sap servers in services file for load balancing are
    sapms<SID>  36<instance number>/tcp
so please check once again and add the entry using above formula in services file.
Also add the entry of all SAP servers in your hosts file.

    You know what? You're right!
I don't know how I exactly got that version... I got back to the AUR and downloaded the new one. The strange thing is, while that old version's tar.gz conained a lot of files like I'd expect from a source archive, the current version only contained the files .AURINFO and PKGBUILD. Guess that's the way it should be, I'm new to all of this so I was initially surprised. Obviously, running makepkg here worked like a charm and downloaded everything that was needed for it to install. Then, econnman installed just fine too. What I can't explain to myself is why 1.8.0's tar.gz contained all those files.
In the end, I couldn't use nor connman cli nor econnman to connect to my Campus' WiFi but, after a lot of trouble, I got it to work with dhclient and wpa_supplicant like it's suggested. This hasn't been useless anyway, I saw how to install from the AUR for the first time.
I'll mark the post as solved, but I got one last question: provided I don't need econnman anymore, do you suggest me to keep python-efl or to remove it? Is it needed for something else I'll certainly run into in the future?

Gentlemen,  I have wasted a day and probably lost my entire Itunes music collection by allowing an upgrade of Itunes version 11.1.4    Interesting because the other upgrades were routine.  This failed to load and the message of missing MSVCR80.dll file and verify that you have sufficient privilege to start system service are of little comfort.  Have re-installed numerous times to no avail.  Wassup?  I need help.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (If this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • Loadlibrary failed with error 126 the specified module could not be found

Hello i get this error message at random when am using oracle sql developer, sometimes it comes right after startup, and some times after 5 mins.
the error closes down the program
    please help

Searching the web for "loadlibrary failed with error 126 java" seems to point to issues with OpenGL and certain video drivers and/or environments with multiple monitors. Here are several discussions...
    https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=243153
Error "LoadLibrary failed with error 126: The module could not - Microsoft Community
[SOLVED] Issue with Technic Launcher: Load Library failed with Error 126 - Technic Launcher - Technic Forums
So it seems this issue is not specific to SQL Developer. The last discussion includes a video link in its last post saying that ".dll" is searched for rather than "atioglxx.dll" on 32-bit systems or "atio6axx.dll" on 64-bit system (in the C:\Windows\system32 folder), so a workaround is to copy one of those to ".dll".
