[Solved (kind of)] Suspend not working after reinstall

Hi folks.
I did a reinstall 2 days ago and since then suspend / resume after a suspend to ram is not working. (Thinkpad x200)
As a desktop i use kde4, i also tried a dbus suspend and a pm-suspend without any X running.
Following happens using arch kernel:
- suspend is initiated and it immediately resumes;
Following happens when using my own kernel + config:
- suspend works (moon led starts blinking and finally the fan stops and the moon is the only led shining)
- after i open the lid or press the power button resume starts but the moon led is aktive, only the cpu fan starts running;
unfortunately i don't know how to log this process, as the display is not working and there's no log available of the resume process.
my rc.conf starts following daemons/programs:
metalog dbus thinkfan sshd
Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey.
I add some information from the log files. State is unchanged. Both with slef baked kernel and arch kernel resume is not working

  • Safari not working after reinstall

    Hi there,
I had issues with my Safari (it woudn't start after the new upgrade), so I had to reinstall it (had to use AppDelete). The reinstallation worked fine, the program now starts (it used to get stuck at the beginning, with the icon bouncing on the dock and doing nothing), but now the browser doesen't seem to go on the internet anymore. All it does is waiting and timing out. Chrome,Opera and Firefox are working just fine. I am guessing the problem is the new installation, how can I fix this? I'm on the latest version of Lion, latest version of Safari downloaded from the official Apple site.
    Thanks in advance

It is not very clear what you did, therefore difficult to recommend something. I understand you upgraded from SL to Lion, and Safari did not work AFTER that upgrade? Strange, does not seem plausible. Or what other upgrade did you do? Safari is a component of the system, and should NEVER be deleted via AppDelete or any other similar app.
As I do not know what you exactly did, I would recommend to download the 10.7.2 combo update (a dmg, around 1 GB), reinstall it as a separate download. After restart, all should be again fine.

A bunch of programs got stolen from me while I was connected to the internet. My whole CS, dreamweaver and photobooth of all apps. So I reinstalled my OS so that photobooth would be back on. Now when I open it its just a blank screen.. like my camera isnt working or something. Not even, there isnt even a black screen. Its just blank. It used to work somewhat when I reinstalled it but all the view modes for the camera looked wacked out. Can anyone help me to fix my photobooth?

Some other things you can try if necessary:
    (1) Use Disk Utility to repair permissions, restart your Mac, and test whether the problem persists.
    (2) Try all relevant suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
    (3) If you updated using your Macs'  > Software Update... feature,
use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then download and install the
    Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update (Combo): http://support.apple.com/kb/DL959
Immediately after the restart that completes the update, repair permisssions again.

  • Mail search function does not work after reinstalling

    Hello!
I recently had to re-install Leopard on my MacBook Pro.
I made a clean install so, I manually copied the Mail folder and preferences from my old home folder to the new one.
All mails are present, and everything works great, apart from the fact that the search function does not work.
I can search for new mails (that came after the reinstall) but the old ones "dont exist" as far as the mail.app goes.
What can I do about it ?

It would probably be easier to do the entire hard drive. The App Store also uses Spotlight, so updating it will help there also. It takes some time to re-index and your computer will/may run slower until it is done.
Direct answer to your question is go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Then go to System Preferences/Spotlight per the linked article and in your user folder, select Library/Mail/V2.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.

  • [SOLVED] Xorg and keyboard not working after upgrade.

    Hi guys,
after a `# pacman -Syyu` I got Xorg not starting and keyboard not working: I am unable to do anything.
I'm posting here pacman's log that I got by booting an Ubuntu Live CD: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/7517806
    Any hint?
How do you recover a system once it's gone like this? Many thanks in advance.

    Just my 1.46¢
You're right, problem wasn't actually solved. In fact, yesterday I upgraded the whole system again and the same problem showed up, but I got it fixed.
Same scenario: after a boot (shorter than usual), what I had was a tty, but I noticed something that I hadn't noticed the last time: the prompt said "Arch Linux 3.11.[?]".
The kernel version was supposed to be 3.12.[?] so I started investigating and after several attempts, this is how I got the system working again:
    1. Chrooted into the system
    2. Wiped /boot
    3. Re-installed grub
    4. Re-installed linux kernel
    5. Re-created grub.cfg
    6. ???
    7. Profit
I'm pretty sure that what originated the problem wasn't a "kernel issue" as I pointed out in my previous post, but it was an incorrect installation of grub: in fact, the grub prompt never showed up before yesterday, the system used to boot straight, ignoring the 5 seconds timeout.

I have created a new Post of your own for you -- the previous Thread was unrelated to your inquiry in many ways; the Thread is no longer active.
Because you originally tagged onto someone else's Thread, it is difficult to discern whether you have indeed just reinstalled the Operating System on your system OR whether you have just picked a Post that sounded similar and added to it.  To some extent, the details make the difference.
Hopefully you still have your Digital Persona Software; I do not find a replacement copy of the software in your Notebook's support pages -- I recommend you think carefully before removing your existing software.  Check your Recovery Manager for the original software that was installed on your system -- the software may be available there.

  • SA30 USB do not work after reinstall, please help!!

Hi, my SA30's USB do not work at all after reintalling, I do not have the original CD with the laptop as it is a gift from my mate.... I couldnt find the driver from the website, please could anyone help me???
I could use the USB mouse but when I plug the external hard disk in, it has no responses, I tried to search for new hardware, it couldnt detect it. Any information would be appreciate, cheers.

When you instll another OS than the recovery OEM OS you have to install the drivers and tools in a right order!
This order is on the Tools & Utilities CD in a html file! When you follow these order all hardware should be detect!
Also you can go to http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com and download the drivers

  • Sound not working after reinstall

I have a Toshiba Tecra A8514 and I had to re-install my windows XP  and since then my audio is not working, I have tried to install the audio driver on the site but that didnt work, any help on the matter would be great.

So you installed this driver without success.
Realtek HD Audio Driver for Windows XP
My guess is that you did not install in the correct order. You might want to start over. It's important to install the chipset software followed by the display driver before any other driver.
    --------------------8<------------------- <snip> ------------------
Install them in this order. Restart after each driver and take the time to test between drivers.  Some will apply and some won't.
    Chipset software
    Display driver
    Sound driver
    Modem Driver
If your machine has the internal WiFi card, then install the WLAN driver
    ACPI Common Modules
    Toshiba Console
    Display Hotkey utility
    Touchpad Driver
    Toshiba Power Saver Utility
    Toshiba Controls
    Toshiba Utilities
    --------------------8<------------------- <snip> ------------------
I would restore the hard drive myself. All this stuff is correctly preinstalled. Replacement media can be ordered by calling Toshiba Customer Service at 800-457-7777. Have the computer's serial number and a credit card handy.

  • A205-S5825 Dvd-Rom not working after reinstall

My hard drive on my A205-S5825 recently failed and I took it in for repair. After a couple of weeks I got it back with a new hard drive and everything seemed fine. I went to play a disc in my rom drive and I realize it cannot be found. It's not in the peripherals list under my computer. It shows up in my device manager, and this is the info it gives me there.
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I think it might be as simple as the device driver was never installed upon my reinstall. Problem with that is Toshiba does not seem to offer the proper driver for download, they have a bunch of other stuff, but no dvd-rom drivers.
I am running a system on Windows Vista, 32 bit I believe. The drive is a TSSTcorp TS-L632H ATA
Has anyone experienced this problem? Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to find the driver or a possible fix?

  • MS-SQL + JDBCAdapter.java Error (Not working after reinstall)

    Hi,
I searched for this, but never found a message that really matched.
My development computer's HD crashed, and the backup that worked the week before failed too. I reinstalled MS-SQL using default or logical values, re-attached the DBs I had been using, reinstalled JCreator V3.50 and reinstalled JDK, but this time instead of 1.40 I installed 1.50 (version 5). I'm not sure if that is the source of the problem or not.
I run an IBM laptop T-42 with Windows XP Pro. I am just working locally, so there is no network, which means there is no Domain to add to the user name. This appeared somewhere in what follows (I forget at 2:15am), but I couldn't find a way to add a placeholder domain...
The java files (which worked just fine before) now fail to execute (compile works), and the error message I see follows:
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Unable to connect. Invalid URL.

    at mqafQuestionClassifier.main(mqafQuestionClassifier.java:1053)
Class mqafQuestionClassifier creates a wedgConnect object which is based on the class Connect, which is a copy of the JDBCAdapter class.
Class wedgConnect uses the same code as JDBCAdapter, with changes to use local vars so I can see them with the dump command when I am debugging.
I've tried debugging to step through the code, but it won't let me "Step Into" deep enough to find out what happens. I get into DriverManager, but cannot get any meaningful data once I get there.
I cannot find a way to get an error number/message that is meaningful. (I am a self-taught Java programmer, took classes, but admit I lack good debugging skills.)
It looked to me to be a userName/password problem, so that is what I focused on.
I tried opening the SQL Server Enterprise Manager, right-clicking on the (local) (Windows NT) server to bring up the Properties dialog, going to Security tab and changing the Authentication to SQL Server AND Windows, as opposed to Windows only. >> FAILED.
I tried using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager "Security" >> Logins by creating a new one so I knew the password >> FAILED>
    I tried using name="sa", pw=[known pw] >> FAILED.
All other known SQL Login names/pws >> FAILED.
I tried creating a User in the DB I want to use, with known name/pw >> FAILED. (That name/pw should have been irrelevant, but I was getting desperate.)
I tried using name=[Windows Login User Name], pw=[Windows Login User PW] >> FAILED.
I have tried just about everything I could think of, nothing works.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • Compressor 3 not working after reinstall of FCS2

    Hello
I'm having trouble with FCS 2 Compressor and Motion. My system was running a little slow so I did a uninstall using App Zapper to remove the suite. The installation went fine however when I tried to launch compressor it would quit before the splash screen comes up every time. He's what puzzles me the most I download the latest update to the suite and Compressor and Motion is not registering at all. It said Motion must be install I get the same message with Compressor also. Yet I can launch Motion and use it. Any ideals? I did a reinstall twice and even reinstalled , FCS1 then upgraded to FCS2 and compressor won't work on FCS1 either. Can someone direct me what to do or what software to get a clean uninstall. Everything works but Compressor. Have to get back to work will check later this morning.
    Lee

I"m having the exact same problem... and from reading in forums the only idea is to re-install my OS. Backing up my Hard drive and updating is going to take a day - i'm not impressed with this idea.
Wondering if you have solved this issue or has anyone else.
Again the problem: Everything in FCP studio 2 works except Compressor. At first it wouldn't submit to Batch and NOW afterre-install attempts it won't even open gives the error:
    Link (dyld) error:
    Symbol not found: __ZN6aecore14CMovieInstance13startTimecodeEv
    Referenced from: /Library/Frameworks/Compressor.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/StompTypes.frame work/Versions/A/StompTypes
    Expected in: /Library/Frameworks/AECore.framework/Versions/A/AECore
Yah, I removed those files as per instructions on Apple's support page, assuming that a re-install would put them back.
If you pay this much for software you should be able to open it NO?
Appreciate any help from all you other frustrated Mac Lovers. I too am a devoted fan, but wish they would someday achieve perfection.

OT: A simpler way to check if some packages are installed:
    $ pacman -Q intel-dri libgl foobar
    intel-dri 9.0-1
    libgl 9.0-1
error: package 'foobar' was not found

  • Sound driver does not work after reinstalling XP on Tecra M9

    Hi,
After lot's of fighting i've given up. It's just been imposible to get my sound card up a running on my TECRA M9 PTM91E, after i decided to give it a clean up by formating the disk entirely. My proceedure goes as follows:
    1. Installed WINDOWS XP SP2
    2. Downloaded of all drivers on another pc. Downloads from toshiba's official driver site: http://es.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=ES
    3. Installed drivers in correct order following instructions: http://es.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/tracker.jsp?file=http%3a%2f%2fsupport.toshiba-tro.de%2ftedd-files2%2f0%2finstall-20070918164527.zip
    4. No luck when attempting to install sound card driver (download page specifies an integrated realtek) tried following version first: http://es.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/tracker.jsp?file=http%3a%2f%2f81.27.174.52%2ftedd-files2%2f0%2fsound-20071002102843.zip
    5. Messed around trying older drivers from other TECRA M Series laptops, no luck either.
    6. Decided sound card just might not be a Realtek and tried other models on the download page: Sigma and Analog Devices Inc. Tried those but got back a non recognition alert.
Has anyone had this problem as well? My best guess it's just might be a problem about the driver version...

Yes, I have exactly the same problem.
We are building our master unit and we *must* do a install from bare metal of all the software. We do an automated provisioning for the rest of our massive purchase.
We have build a custom version of the Windows XP SP2 installation CD (with disk and chipset drivers injected). It has been working ok.
We have installed all the software drivers using the same procedure as yours (in the order proposed in install.txt).
The only thing that has failed is the sound.
This is the first place we ask for a solution. I hope we will have an answer (from toshiba) soon.

  • [Solved] NetworkManager-pptp VPN not working after update to 0.9.10

    Hello,
I have a PPTP VPN set up and it's been working for a long time.  However, after I updated last night to networkmanager-0.9.10, it is no longer able to connect to the remote network.  I can activate the VPN connection, enter my password, but after a short period of time, the connection reports:  "Error: Connection activation failed: the VPN service returned invalid configuration."  As I mentioned before, this VPN was working right before the update and I didn't change the configuration on either my computer or the destination network so I'm pretty sure that this is something to do with the update.  I'm wondering if anybody else has run into this problem and if they've been able to find a solution.  I've been searching all over these forums and the internet for some hours now and I haven't found anything yet.  I'm hoping that somebody might be able to point me in the right direction or maybe know of something that might have changed with the new update.

If you've gotten this far, thank you for taking the time to read through all this!  Any help that you can give would be much appreciated.

Hmm, not sure about the 3.16 series kernel, but I found that when I upgraded to kernel 3.18 the PPTP VPN also stopped working.  This time, though, it was because, for some reason, there was a change in kernel 3.18 where the firewall kernel modules necessary for the VPN don't get loaded so the firewall won't allow some of the PPTP traffic from the remote side back in.  Since the firewall is stateful, these modules need to be loaded so that the firewall can know that the incoming PPTP traffic from the remote side is part of an existing connection.  Here's what my network manager logs looked like:

To fix this, I had to add a file to the /etc/modules-load.d directory to have the modules loaded into the kernel at boot.  I just created a file called netfilter.conf and put the following in it:
    nf_nat_pptp
    nf_conntrack_pptp
    nf_conntrack_proto_gre
Not sure if this addresses your problem or not, but maybe it's worth a look.
