[solved] kmod, can't load nfnetlink module

Wireshark is busted for me because nfnetlink can't load for some reason. Also
modinfo /lib/modules/3.2.0-2-ARCH/kernel/net/netfilter/nfnetlink.ko.gz
was giving me a funky error, I went back to module-init-tools so I forgot what it said, but even modprobe nfnetlink wouldn't work for me.

falconindy wrote:I really need to know what error you were seeing or else it can't be fixed. Please try to reproduce with kmod-3-5.
I was getting what @z0id got, "No such file or directory". With kmod 3-5 the issue appears to be fixed. Wireshark works and nfnetlink loads automatically.

    I'm using php 5.2.0-1, lighttpd 1.4.12-1, mysql 5.0.26-1, libmysqlclient 5.0.26-1 and php-cgi 5.1.6-1 on server and phpMyAdmin says that php can't load mysql module, other websites doesn't have any connection to mysql database too. I've checked php.ini - mysql.so and mysqli.so is uncommented. Only one thing helps - reverting to php 5.1.6-2.

    Hi
    I've only seen this on Netra servers. The problem is down to the hardware revision of Solaris that
    you are using and the processor speed on the host.
    You need to use an "Operating Environment" CD that should have come with your server if you
    are building the server with an early version of Solaris 8. Use this CD first to "boot cdrom", it will then ask you for some basic info after which, it will prompt you for the original Solaris CDs that you have.
    Probably the best solution ( and you don't have to use the Operating Environment CD) is to use the last revision of Solaris 8 which I think is 2/02.
    regards

    he Netra X1 won't even boot from the image, with a "can't load tod module"

    A fresh jumpstart image with the latest mis.netra-x1.....zip file does

    The way to access them is to start with http://www.sun.com/netra , click

  • Can't load tod module

    I have just cloned a Solaris 8 system onto a V240 using jumpstart - the installation worked fine, but on reboot I get this error message:
    Rebooting with command: boot

    Any help would be appreciated.

    That looks like a generic message that indicates you have the wrong version of Solaris 8 loaded. Minimum for V240 is Solaris 8 12/02.
    cd to the JumpStart directory on you server and do a "more" or "cat" on the release file
    example: more Solaris8/Product/SUNWsolnm/reloc/etc/release

    I'm guessing it's probably something with the new image after the pgrade, but I don't know which module to load nor do I
    understand why systemd isn't loading the modules when it was working stable enough to act as a headless server before. However, I've only been a week or so with systemd and might have overlooked something in the configs. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Please. I'm desperate.

    Yep, I got that far, and tried the same advice from a different user with a 'tee' command which did the same thing, but unfortunately the forcedeth module can't be loaded because its in a different directory than the 'uname -r' specification allows modprobe to search for. I posted my attempts here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1181940

  • [SOLVED] Can't load this module??

    Ok, I discovered why I have no eth0 device. I have an
    Nvidia MCP61 Ethernet card, according to lscpi -v
    and no associated "Kernel" modules.
    The necessary Ethernet driver for that Nvidia card is forcedeth
    however
    # modprobe forcedeth
    FATAL: Module forcedeth not found.
    but if I perform a systemwide find..
    I get
    /usr/lib/modules/3.6.2-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/ethernet/nvidia/forcedeth.ko.gz
    but according to 'man modprobe' the modprobe program looks in the /lib/modules/'uname -r' directory
    and when I run
    # uname -r
    3.5.6-1-ARCH
    I can cleary see why modprobe didn't work since according to the previous "find" there is no "forcedeth" in that directory.
    so I tried
    # modprobe -S 3.6.2-1-ARCH
    Error: missing parameters. See -h.
    to tell modprobe to search in that directory instead, but despite different variations I couldn't change the version sucessfully.
    So instead I tried copying the "forcedeth.ko.gz" to the /lib/modules/3.5.6-1-ARCH directory
    and I still haven't been able to "modprobe" it, even with full pathname and force option provided.
    So, in summation, I had the driver in the wrong directory according to 'uname -r' and thus I couldn't
    load it. I tried to manually give modprobe a different kernel version, without sucess, and have tried
    copying forcedeth.ko.gz to the directory which corresponded to /lib/modules/'uname -r'.
    I guess I need to either
    - upgrade the kernel without an internet connection?
    - sucessfully modprobe forcedeth despite the kernel version conflict?
    - maybe throw a symbolic link somewhere?
    - give an explicit option  to define a full path in a config file?
    - do something with mkinitcpio that can specify that module and boot into that ramdisk?
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, since I don't know how else to load the module.
    If any other info on my system might give a lead, I'd be more than happy to provide it. Thanks. I'm almost there...

    ok, did and done. (However, note that this isn't raw code since I have to type from display of the monitor to the laptop.)
    # file /boot/vmlinuz-linux

    According to file, I do have the latest kernel, which makes this even more peculiar since it isn't consistent with 'uname -r'
    3.5.6-1-ARCH
    and I'm using grub legacy, I think.
    # cat /boot/grub/menu.1st
    timeout 5

    I didn't post the whole config since transcribing comments with mode suggestions would be needless. But I don't think there's any danger in ommitting the '#' lines, is there?

  • IPW2100 driver can't load the module

    Hi everybody,
    I have an centrino Dell Inspiron 8600 and I'm trying to make working wireless hardware. I noticed that the installing of the ipw2100 with pacman produces a new directory in the /lib/modules
    It's different than my kernel, seems stock kernel directory,
    I'm using a compiled kernel and when I try to load the module it doesn't load it and all I see are just a couple of warnings.
    My questions are:
    Have I to use an stock kernel?
    If yes where can I find some HowTo that explains how to use it?
    (I don't like 800x600 terminal, by compiling I can decide to use 1024x768)
    If not, have I to use source? I seems strange, I mean, what's pacman for?  :?
    Thank you guys

    Ok, I used abs to compile my new module, now I have my module in the right place.
    but when I try to load it happen this:
    [root@sanctuary arael]# modprobe ipw2100

    Slightly OT, but in the interest of getting you back to the stock kernel - it shouldn't be necessary to recompile the kernel simply to change screen res. What prompted you to do it?
    When I use stock kernel I can't recompile it...I mean it's precompiled ... or not?   :?
    To have 1024x768 login shell I can specify during "make menuconfig ncurses screen"... But when I use stock kernel what should I to do, pass to lilo right parameters? Othervise the default is 800x600 and I don't like it to much...but this is just my preference...and is not important...
    Using ipw2100 and kernel26 precompiled does't change the situations. I have my module in the right place but modprobe says that there isn't a module called ipw2100...
    To use linux I guess that people should be very smart or a guru...and supose that this is not too much my case.  :?
    I have also an hp usb printer that doesn't works and I don't understand why. I have to use windows to print. It's very frustrating have hardware but not be able to make it work....

    Do you have any fglrx specific configuration? Do you have anything in your /etc/modprobe.d ?
    Could it be that fglrx is compiled for previous versions of kernel and this is a problem?
    I don't have any specific fglrx configuration and in /etc/modprobe.d/ I have a file called modprobe.conf that contains
    blacklist radeon
    fglrx
    I dont think fglrx was compiled for previous versions of the kernel because I used the kernel that the latest release contained. My kernel version is 3.16.3-1.

  • Can't load fglrx module

    Hi!
    I haven't upgraded my system for a while and now - after a complete system update including xorg-server, kernel, etc. - I've got a system without X  :-(
    I've been using the OS Ati driver for a while and was quite happy with it.
    It looks like the latest xorg-server has some problems with it though. It's complaining about an mtrr error. I thought I could switch to fglrx for now but the fglrx module won't load. Neither the combo of kernel/catalyst from extra, nor the one from testing nor a self built catalyst against the latest kernel in testing let me load the fglrx module. What's going on here? Help is appreciated...
    Best regards, Chris

    Well, I got it working. But strange enough, I still can't modprobe the newly built fglrx-module (catalyst 8.12).
    So I tried the vesa driver. Check.
    Then I gave the ati (OSS) driver another go, hal recognition of input devices disabled because that was were the whole mess started. Check.
    Then I tried w/ hal. Check. To my surprise, keyboard and synaptics were now working (couldn't get to this point yesterday)
    Changed the keyboard to "ch" and created a reasonable  /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/11-x11-synaptics.fdi:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <deviceinfo version="0.2">
    <device>
    <match key="info.capabilities" contains="input.touchpad">

    <merge key="input.x11_options.RightEdge" type="string">5300</merge>
    <merge key="input.x11_options.BottomEdge" type="string">4200</merge>-->
    <merge key="input.x11_options.VertScrollDelta" type="string">100</merge>
    <merge key="input.x11_options.MinSpeed" type="string">0.16</merge>
    <merge key="input.x11_options.MaxSpeed" type="string">0.25</merge>

    <merge key="input.x11_options.HorizScrollDelta" type="string">40</merge>
    </match>
    </device>
    </deviceinfo>
    Cool. I'm almost happy. Some special keys don't yet behave like the used to do (like shift-insert for inserting text the way it did before) But I think I can live with that.
    Thanks for the help Mr. Elendig, Wiki, bbs, google, etc
    Best regards Chris

  • [Solved] Catalyst fails to load kernel module

    I have just been through the Catalyst install guide, I installed from the Vi0L0 repos rather than building myself.
    Everything appeared to go fine, however fglrx fails to load when I reboot. The xorg log contains;
    fglrx(0): atiddxDriScreenInit failed. Probably kernel module missing or incompatible
    fglrx(0): **********************************************************
    fglrx(0): * DRI initialization failed
    fglrx(0): * kernel module (fglrx.ko) may be missing or incompatible
    fglrx(0): * 2D and 3D acceleration disabled
    fglrx(0): **********************************************************
    Is this recoverable? Or does this mean that the current Vi0L0 module has not been built for my kernel (3.11.5-1-ARCH)?
    Last edited by ~lynks (2013-11-03 16:16:00)

    This issue has now been resolved after the update to xorg 1.14
    lsmod | grep fglrx
    shows fglrx is not loaded, and:
    modprobe fglrx
    returns with;
    modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'fglrx': Exec format error
    Does that indicate a 32/64 bit issue?
    This issue has now been resolved after the update to xorg 1.14

  • RAC - CRS - TieRegistry.pm can't load perl module SetDualVar.pm

    Hi,
    I seem to be having an issue configuring a cluster with enterprise manager grid control.
    Here's the test scenario.
    Test #1
    - CRS installed and patched to 11.1.0.7.0 on two nodes running Windows 2003 R2 x64
    - ASM installed and patched to 11.1.0.7.0 on cluster config
    - DB installed and patched to 11.1.0.7.0 on cluster config
    - DB created via DBCA (dropped em via emca)
    - Agent 10.2.0.5.0 x64 installed on cluster config
    Test #2
    - CRS installed and patched to 10.2.0.4.0 on two nodes running Windows 2003 R2 x64
    - ASM installed and patched to 10.2.0.4.0 on cluster config
    - DB installed and patched to 10.2.0.4.0 on cluster config
    - Agent installed 10.2.0.5.0 x64 on cluster config
    (Note I haven't updated 10.2.0 release to 10.2.0.5.0, as this is production)
    1. I'm receiving the following in Critical Alerts, and its showing Pending Status in target list.
    2. Both test scenarios produce similar error and showing pending status.
    3. Note that SetDualVar.pm is non-existent in any %ORACLE_HOME%/perl

    I'm curious, did you ever find a resolution to this? I'm experiencing a similar issue, but on slightly different platform:
    Agents:
    2-node RAC cluster on Windows Server Enterprise 2003 SP2
    RDBMS/CRS version 10.2.0.4 (was also occurring on 10.2.0.3), CPU July 2009
    Grid Control agent version 10.2.0.5
    OMS:
    Windows Server Enterprise 2003 SP2
    RDBMS/Repository 10.2.0.4 CPU July 2009
    Grid Control 10.2.0.5
    From emagent_perl.trc:
