SOLVED : Lenovo X60 spontaneous sleep mode problem.

The problem is the flat panel screen! (either t-conn board and/or backlight). Viewiz HV121X03-100 Part No. 42T0359 FRU No. 13N7205. LCD : Wistron P/N:60.4Q443.001
I have 2 identical of Lenovo X60 laptops, with swivel-type-hinge at center. One has this spontaneous sleeping mode problem. I thought it was the Inverter problem - WRONG. Next some say it's the motherboard, CPU fan & heatsink, BIOS updates wrong also. All of these assumptions and theories are wrong diagnosed.
Solution replace the flat panel screen (very expensive because it has Wacom digitizer glass on top of the screen and board at the bottom.)

  • T60 Type 2623 Blue Screen on Resume from Sleep Mode problem solved - XP Pro

I hope that this post ends some frustrations for some people.
I hope that IBM deals with this issue by getting ATI to fix the video driver issue.
After three months of tracking down blue screens when resuming from Sleep Mode and some lockups while working, I have identified the problem on my T60 Type 2623 running Windows XP-Pro and all service packs and updates.  The Sleep Mode resume issues were intermittant and it would be fine for a day or two and then reboot on Resume or reboot every time I used Resume for a while.  For months the Blue Screen would reboot and attempt to send the message to Microsoft using the logs, but the logs were always corrupted.  I disabled every driver that I could and the problem continued for months.
The problem solution came about when I decided to try my Rhapsody Music account after many months of not using it.  I kept getting a message about DRM (Digital Right Management) being disabled and Rhapsody software could not self-fix this.  So I finally called Rhapsody and they spent over an hour with me trying to get Rhapsody to work.  The support person asked me about my computer and I noted that it was an IBM T60.  He then asked about my Video Card and I responded that it was an ATI Mobility Radeon X1300.  After a few minutes on hold he asked about my driver version which was 8.442.3-080103a1-057754C the set from January 31, 2008.  He noted that there is a known problem wit the 8.4 driver and it interferes with DRM.  He had me go to control panel Settings and Hardware and then roll-back the driver to the prior version.
After a reboot, the DRM issue was solved and I soon discovered that my resume from Sleep mode no longer crashed.  In fact it has been fine and crash free for over a month now.  I have noted that the older driver can sometimes resize my screen to something like 600 X 800 if I close the lid under certain circumstances, but that is just a function key reset to get my normal desktop resolution back.  At least it is not a blue screen reboot with a corrupted log file.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unfortunately I could not fix the problem so I wiped my system and loaded all new drivers before I found this posting.
Is there a way to get the old ATI driver that works? The only one available on the ATI and Lenovo website is the latest one with the problem. I agree with you David, Lenovo should have fixed this problem already with ATI.

  • Sending a bug report on the OS and a sleep mode problem.

I find the bug button in Safari really convenient for sending Apple bug reports. And when other applications crash, you usually get an error dialog with a button to send a bug report. But sometimes problems arise that require reporting, but which don't fall in either of these categories. It would be very handy to have a bug "button" for the OS, or perhaps just a menu selection in the Finder menu bar that invokes a bug report dialog box. I know you can dig around and find the URL for Apple's bug report web page, but I am always forgetting it -- I suppose I could just bookmark it, but then I'd just have to dig around in all the bookmarks to find it. Better would be a utility built-in to the OS for sending bug reports (like Safari's). It could also automatically transfer necessary info about the OS rev and such.
The problem I had was this. I have a script that puts my iMac to sleep. I put the script alias on the task bar and a single click puts the computer to sleep (easier than using the menu). Unfortunately, I sometimes click it by mistake when I am trying to click an adjacent icon in the task bar, and the Mac starts going through its cycle to enter sleep mode and is impervious to anything I do to try and cancel it. I tried pressing the space bar continuously to prevent it from going to sleep, but that did not work. Worse, when it went to sleep and I woke it up again, the task bar would not appear, clicking on app windows did not activate them, Finder menus could not be selected, etc. The cursor would move, but I could not do anything else. (I wish now I had noted if the clock in the menu bar was still advancing, but I didn't think to do that.) I powered down the iMac from the power key and rebooted. Things are working fine now.
I wanted to send a bug report on this, but realized that unlike Safari, there was no button or menu selection for doing that. So here I am.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    TIA,
    Drake

  • T400 sleep mode problem

Hi, I got my new T400 last week, prett happy. However, I found an annoying problem with T400 entering sleep mode. Randomly, it fails to go into sleep mode. It just hangs there with no response at all from keyboard and mouse, the "sleep moon" light doens't turn on either. I have to hold the power button to forcely shut it down and reboot. Quite annoying.
I did some research on this forum, somebody suggested reinstall the Power Manager and its driver, I tried that and the problem remains. BTW, My video driver is also up to date.
Then I called Lenovo/IBM Atlanta support team, and was told to try to update my BIOS. So I preceeded with that too. Because I have Vista64, I have to download an iso image and burn a bootable CD with Roxio Creator (preinstalled on T400), and changed the BIOS startup sequence to boot from the internal CD drive. Somehow, T400 couldn't boot from the CD I burned with the BIOS update iso image. So I am back to suqare one.
Someone in this forum also suggested it might be a motherboard problem, but the tech rep I talked with didn't mention that.
Any suggestions on this sleeping mode issue? Or if you could help with the bootable CD with BIOS update? Thanks in advance!

Sorry, I have to ask the usual iso burn question: are you burning it as a file, or as an image?  If your cd is readable under windows (or whatever) and has a file on it called xxx.iso, you probably used the wrong burn option.
No offense, but this is the usual problem.  If you are already handling this, sorry about the noise...

  • [M73-SFF] - multiple sleep mode problems

My new ThinkCentre M73-SFF will not enter into sleep mode.  It also will not stay in sleep mode when I manually put it into sleep mode. It regularly would go into sleep mode when I first purchased it but not so now.  I have searched on the net but cannot find any solutions.  I have disables the screen saver thinking this was a problem but it did not solve the problem.  Anyone know of a solution?
Moderator comment: Subject edited to match content.

THANK YOU @someotherguy for explaining the problem. This solved all my issues, also for a newly bought laptop. The more recent Windows 7 updates solve the issue by subsuming the fingerprint manager update under the system updates. I know this because it's definitely a different version of fingerprint manager from when I first bought the device last week.
Nevertheless, this is far more useful and informative than the helpdesk chat support personnel I spoke to.

  • G4 sleep mode problem after latest update (10.5.8 build 9L30)

    Hi,
My 'old faithful' 17" G4 PowerBook 1.67GHz behaves differently after the latest SW update to 10.5.8 build 9L30:
When ordered to go to sleep mode (german: "Ruhezustand") either by Apple-menu command or closing the display does no longer result i slowly flashing white standby-LED but the LED remains dark and the PowerBook will not resume when the display is flipped open again or the power-button is pressed.
It can only be reactivated with <ctrl><apple><power-button>.
Before that, it behaved as expected i.e. resuming operation after flipping the display open again or pressing any keyboard key when in power save mode.
The behaviour is the same if operated without attached power supply.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance

  • How to repair sleep mode problem for thinkpad t510

    hi, everybody
Recently, I found that the windows was wakeup once I touch the mouse when the laptop was in the lid closing position. A wireless mouse connected into my laptop. After I close the lid, the windows turns to sleep mode. But once I move the wireless mouse, the windows is wakeup with closing lid. How can I fix this problem? I dont want the window wakeup once I move the wireless mouse. I just simply want windows turns to sleep mode after I close the lid. My operation system is win 7.
    Many thank.
    Solved!

Uncheck the Wake computer checkmarks in Device Manager for your wireless mouse. If it's Bluetooth, disable it for that too.

  • Z60m Sleep Mode Problem

    Hi.
I am the until now happy owner for a Lenovo z60m.
Problem is, whenever I start up the only 3d Application I have on my computer (World of Warcraft). It takes between 30seconds to 5 minutes before the computer automatically goes to sleep mode, even if I am physically pressing buttons and doing stuff.  I've checked all settings up and down, inside out. Checked the BIOS etc. The computer works perfectly fine as long as I am not running this 3d applicaton. I have of course tried reinstalling the computer and updated drivers etc. but I can not seem to get rid of this problem. I must also say that the problem is recent and that I did not have it earlier.
I hope someone here has a suggestion to a solution to this problem as I have scavenged the web with no luck so far.

so what you are saying that if you run the WoW than put into sleep mode it would take 30 s to 5 minutes to sleep whilst you are still running the WoW app.... this is normal as before you go to sleep mode, the computer would basically save all your data to the harddrive and ram so when it wakes up, you have all the required files and program access to continue what you do before it goes to sleep with minimal delay..... the more data you have in your physical ram, the longer the process should be, and WoW is by no means a small program set.... so its not really a laptop problem, its just the limitation of the current hardware technology and the software set that supports it....

  • HP M125rnw sleep mode problem

Hello Sorry for my English. I recently purchased a HP LaserJet Pro MFP M125rnw.I installed the printer using the ethernet connection. I can't solve the problem with printer sleep mode. After a long stay in sleep mode, the printer refuses to print: 1. I can't print from a PC with Windows 7
    2. I can't print from a PC with Ubuntu 14.10
    3. I can print reports using the WEB interface
    4. Turning off/turning on the printer solves the problem for some hours Is it a problem with the printer hardware?

When it goes to sleep go to the menu on the printer and see if you can press any buttons to bring it out of sleep mode.  If you can, then the issue is probably with the driver you are using.  If you can not wake the printer with the button, then you have a hardware issue and the formatter is probably defective.

  • OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update still does not fix the wifi shut off in sleep mode problem

OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 Update was supposed to fix the wifi connectivity problem with my iMac. Wifi disconnects in sleep mode and does not connect when awakened.  Must reconnect manually every time. PITA.

Your observation is correct about wifi disconnection in sleep mode. That is normal, you may want to check to see if your Mac supports Power Nap/is enabled- OS X: About Power Nap
The reconnect should be automatic within a few seconds.
Does it happen with multiple wifi networks or just one?
Have you tried deleting and re-adding the wifi network?

  • Shut down without warning @ 30% , firewire not working , sleep mode problem

    Hello!
I seem to have a combination of problems in which I believe that somehow they must be related altogether. I would appreciate any advice you may have on the cause of these problems and/or any solutions. Here's a detailed list of the problems:
    1. The computer shuts down without warning at about 30% battery.
    2. The Firewire doesn't seem to work when I try to connect my external HD.
    3. The firewire Bus data is not shown on the System Profiler.
    4. The sleep mode doesn't work; if I press the "sleep" icon, it doesn't respond to it.
    5. When I close the lid and open it again, the screen remains turned off which requires me to force shut down the computer every time. Yet, it seems that its only the screen that does not want to come back up, the unit seems operational.
    6. The sleep light indicator does not pulse when lid is closed, it stays on.
Actions taken:I have tried resetting the Power Management Unit (PMU) to no avail. Have the battery update. Have reset the PRAM.
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • SLEEP MODE PROBLEMS!!! HELP!

Is there ever going to be an update for mac os x v10.6.4 snow leopard that fixes the slow sleep problem? Since the update my macbook takes 45 seconds to go into sleep mode after I click on sleep in the top left corner. Is there any other option other than waiting for a new update?

As I've just learned, this is a matter of what hibernation mode your model uses.
    See here: http://www.macworld.com/article/53471/2006/10/sleepmode.html
With this terminal command you can see what your machine uses:
    pmset -g | grep hibernatemode
For fast sleep, it should be 0.
My problem is, however, that my Mini Mac keeps waking up from sleep. Very annoying.

  • Sleeping mode problem: the hard disk doesn't stop to run.

    Hello,
I try to put my iMac (Lion) in the sleeping mode. The screen becomes black but the hard disk doesn't stop. I don't see any live process in the activity monitor. This problem was not there before and I have no idea to correct it.
I you have a good idea for me !!!
    Thanks

Then perhaps you have something now running on your system that is causing the computer not to fully sleep. You may want to open Activity Monitor to check what is running and to see if any application or process may be crashing.
You can also try creating a new, temporary user account, then logging into the new account to see if this issue ceases.

  • T420s sleep mode problem

    Hi,
I'm a newbie.  Just received my T420s (Windows 7 Prissionsl; 8 GB RAM) and love it (I call it the "Anti-Mac").
On more than one occasion, after I enter sleep mode by hitting the sleep function button, the display refuses to turn back on no matter what I do (I try hitting keys, using the mouse buttons etc).  However, on other occasions, by simply hitting one key once, the machine "wakes up".  On another occasion, when I booted up the machine, the display refused to turn on - I had to hit the power button and then the display came on.  Anybody have any suggestions?  Thanks.

Install latest Power Manager from the drivers webpage and the latest Power Managment driver.
