[SOLVED] libva update breaks mpd

Today's libva update to 1.0.4 makes mpd refuse to start, printing "error while loading shared libraries: libva-0.31.0.6.so.1" instead.
edit: Downgrade to 0.31.1_p3-1 doesn't help, but with 0.31.0_p13-2 mpd starts just fine.

That's it, thanks. I have ffmpeg-svn installed; updating that fixed the problem.

  • What are the things 10.6.8 update break?

After the 10.6.8 update I am having so many issues,
first, the %100 cpu usage of dock, disabled parallels, and now it is ok,
then, a reboot and I am unable to login, I enter my password, it begins the login process, then logs me out,
if I persist, it logs me in after a couple of tries, but each time a few of my applications are missing at random, and the environment is very very unstable, sometimes I see no desktop background, sometimes I start firefox and I am logged out again.
I've seen some people suggesting removal of login items to resolve a similar but not the same issue, so I'm inclined to think overall, there is an issue with some applications which 10.6.8 update breaks.
For starters my login items are:
    GrowlHelper
    Geektool
    EyeTv Helper
    Canon IJ Network scanner
    ituneshelper
    Magicprefs
    Sophosuiserver
Does anyone have any problems with any of these?
I only verified the parallels desktop 6 issue up to now.

  • Why can I no longer use AirPlay with my Slingbox?  New updates break complatibility?

Why can I no longer use AirPlay with my Slingbox?  New updates break complatibility?

You already seem to know what the issue is, it is the parallax feature that was added to iOS 7.  From your rant, it appears that your attempt to work around this was not successful.  According to the Apple documents I've seen, they recommend that you enlarge your image (not reduce it).  Make your image have excess space on all sides, which is not displayed on the screen.  This way, when you tilt your device one direction or another, it can shift the image to give the appearance of 3D.
As a photographer, I like to use the full frame of my images, but I also know that I need to leave room around the image as well.  I have some photos I have taken that I can't use because I have them cropped too tightly too, but I have others that work just fine.  Just remember that part of the image file is "off screen" so that if iOS has to shift the image up it has some image that can scroll onto the screen.  It needs this space on all sdes, so just make youre images larger, and keep in mind that a portion on each side will be outside the normally visible screen...  If you don't like this feature, you can always go into the settigns and turn it off.

  • Mac OSX 10.4.8 Update Breaks Raid Striping -- System will no longer boot

    Hi,
I'm a newbie from the PC world with a Mac Pro. For the last 8 hours I've been trying to get a Raid-0 configuration to work with no success.
The Raid array constructs ok and the system boots. Once that's done the Software Update screen arrives and I would select install all... then the machine would not boot. I get a Grey Shade like affect and the message to power off and restart. Powering off does nothing.
So I started again for the Nth time and added each Software Update individually. All loaded and rebooted successfully until the 10.4.8 Update.
As soon as that loads, installs and restarts the machine will not boot.
I called Apple's Tech Support and they told me they do NOT support RAID on this machine. I said what are you talking about. They put me on hold talked to a supervisor and came back with the same story. I just don't get it...
So anyone have any insight and advice on why the update breaks my Raid-0? What can I do to get over the problem (I'd like to have the RAID...)?
    Thanks for the assistance.
Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Yes, you needed an emergency boot drive anyway to repair your RAID boot drive. Just use the same one in addition to a working clone or backup of your regular system.
Apple made it easy to install or update security updates and system updates from an alternate drive (but you will have to use the stand-alone (combo preferably) updaters instead - which many use already as normal part of upgrades for years now (they seem more useful and reliable).
My preference is a dedicated boot drive with OS and apps and minimal home directory - no media files - and fast, like 10K Raptor. I use RAID for my home directory so it isn't on the boot drive for years to improve performance and keep the OS separate. Never a problem and nice mix.

  • The latest Java update breaks some vital applications

The latest Java update breaks some vital applications. I have reverted back to 7u45. But now, every time a java applet is used, the "later", "block", "update" window appears and stops the applet from loading. I must have this older release. Oracle does not throughly test their updates. Note: the apps the update breaks are actually Oracle apps.
I have checked the "do not ask again until next relesse" box every single time. Worthless.
Is there a way to stop Java version checks? I even have the box deselected for check for updates; ignored by OS X. I WANT CONTROL! Stop checking!
    Ideas?

We are facing the same issue. We suggested all out customers not to install the updates Java 7u65 or 8u11 until there is a workaround or fix.
The wrong look & feel is causing the following problems:
    - Either icons or text can be display on a button. Currently the majority of buttons are displaying an icon. Therefore the workaround is to set the text at least.
    - Scroll-bars are displayed within all cells of a table column. The circumstances are not clear when these scroll-bars are displayed.

  • Did OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 update break bluetooth audio for anyone else?

Did OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 update break bluetooth audio for anyone else?
I have a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 duo MacMini from 2010, and I just updated to the latest OSX (10.9.4 (13E28)) and now bluetooth audio is broken.
I can pair my device (LG Tone+) to the mac, but no audio will play though it.  I've rebooted the machine, reconnected the device after the update, restarted the browser, all with no results.
Typically, when I connect to the system I will get audio acknowledgements through the headset, "Power On" "Battery High" "Connected"
I still get those audio queues through the device.  However when I open up a video on YouTube, or attempt to stream music on Spotify...nothing happens.
I've plugged wired headphones into the system and that works just fine.  When I connect my Bluetooth headset, the audio to the wired headphones disconnects, so it seems like everything is behaving normally, except that no audio plays through the bluetooth headset.
Any ideas on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated.  So, what do we think?

    Try resetting the SMC.

Is anyone experiencing a similar issue?
EDIT: The problem reoccured with libva-intel-driver 1.3.1-1. Seems like it isn't a problem of libva-intel-driver.
    Kernel downgrade also didn't help.

Nope, no problems here on either Ironlake or Haswell, using mpv and flash (via libvdpau-va-gl). Well, mpv tends to freeze sometimes on Ironlake, but that issue was already there with 1.3.1
I find it weird that libva-intel-driver is the cause for your problems, considering you're seeing issues even with non-video stuff. Are you sure it's libva-intel-driver and not the 3.14.6 -> 3.15.1 kernel upgrade?

    Do you use testing?
The heimdal version in testing does break kio_http, but by creating symlinks you can get around that.
Do a ldd /opt/kde/libs/kde3/kio_http.so | grep not and see which libraries are missing. Search for these libraries in /usr/lib (e.g. libgssapi.so) and create a symlink from e.g. libgssapi.so.2 to libgssapi.so.1 . This is only a dirty workaround, but it works until the related kde packages are rebuilt against the new heimdal version.
Edit: I experienced the same with kdemod.

*sigh* the same question at least twice a week
    Anyway, a few hints:
    a) Use the absolute path
    b) the user defined in /etc/mpd.conf has to have permissions to read your music directory AND permissions to write, read and execute the folder, where you save your database, pid, log etc...
    c) To get some proper error messages start mpd with "sudo mpd --verbose --stdout --nodaemon" - then use a client to update the database (in ncmpc hit 'u')

  • Gnupg update breaks key database [SOLVED]

    Hi all,
I upgraded gnupg from 2.0.26-1 to 2.1.0-4, which also removed dirmngr:
[2014-11-25 20:18] [PACMAN] Running 'pacman -Syu'
[2014-11-25 20:18] [PACMAN] synchronizing package lists

    [2014-11-25 20:19] [PACMAN] removed dirmngr (1.1.1-3)
    [2014-11-25 20:19] [PACMAN] upgraded gnupg (2.0.26-1 -> 2.1.0-4)
Since then, engimail complains, if I understand correctly, about not being able to migrate my gpg-keys:
    Error - encryption command failed
    /usr/bin/gpg --charset utf-8 --display-charset utf-8 --batch --no-tty --status-fd 2 --with-fingerprint --fixed-list-mode --with-colons --list-secret-keys
gpg: starting migration from earlier GnuPG versions
gpg: error: GnuPG agent version "2.0.26" is too old.
gpg: Please make sure that a recent gpg-agent is running.
gpg: (restarting the user session may achieve this.)
    gpg: migration aborted
Reverting to 2.0.26 with dirmngr solves the problem, but I feel a piece of security software like gpg should probably be up-to-date.
Reinstalling enigmail (it's from the AUR, after all, and got upgraded) didn't help, but the message seems to me to be more about gpg, anyway.
I should also mention that I upgrade my system pretty regularly (usually twice a day), and so didn't really expect a version jump to be too large.
I'd be grateful for any help with this.

Found it, there was a file that was being created in /dev called null.  I think it is to be related to the gnupg update, and apparently I did need proc, sys, and dev mounted on my PXE client roots.

  • [Solved.]Possible GUI/Video Driver update break?

Yesterday, I did a Update/Upgrade like usual and everything seemed fine. After a reboot, GUI (XFCE) seemed slightly broken.
By "slightly" I mean, only one virtual desktop was available instead of the four I had set, and compositing wasn't working,
leading me to believe that something driver related was changed. I installed NVIDIA and NVIDIA-UTILS over my nouveau driver as stated in wiki (my card is Geforce 6200 agp). I was also in the process of tweaking my .xinitrc on unrelated problem and tried some settings with that but no help. I changed .xinitrc back to the way it was, but now I am stuck with SLiM login prompt that doesn't allow login, and TTY's seem to frozen on the output from loading the OS, not allowing me to fix from terminal.
Question 1: are the two problems related?
Question 2: was there recently a nouveau breaking update recently?
any ideas or directions on things to try are greatly appreciated, I am currently at work and unable to get to the arch
machine, so I am unable to post any output, just looking for some insight.
