[SOLVED] license file formats

Hey there,
currently, I'm about to add licensing information to my x32-edit PKGBUILD , but Behringer provides the EULA as pdf only.
When loking through /usr/share/licenses , I recognized that all the packages I installed provided either a plaintext- or a html-file. The packaging-standards just say, I should "copy the license to a file and include it"
Is it tolerated to just download & save the pdf, or should license-files be in a simpler format (which would need me to host the txt or html somewhere offside from the vendor)?
Thanks in advance.

pdftotext and pdftohtml both have a few problems with this pdf (first one messes up the chapter-enumeration, second one has char encoding problems).
Furthermore, I'm not a fan of adding 4.18 MB + deps of makedepends (even though poppler SHOULD be installed on almost any system, who doesn't need cups, loffice or texlive?)
My current hope is that I'll be able to convince Behringer of providing the EULA in txt or pdf themselves (I need to drop them a mail either way, their binary comes with an executable stack…).

  • Fla file format license

    Hi all Flash Gurus
I need advice from you about license of fla file format.
    =========================
    Background:
we intend to develop standalone flash application with nearly
same fearture as FLASH CS. Our application can save as (output) fla
    file also.
Basic features are insert text, images into fla file, edit
these text/images then output edited content to swf file.
    ===========================
    So my question is:
If we sell this app to end-user, do we violate the fla file
    license of Adobe?
AFAIK, fla file is property of Adobe and it can not be edited
    in other app.
If yes, could you point me to weblink of Abode fla file
    license or something like that?
Please help me, I need your help.
    Best regards,

    gghfh,
    > But could you please be more specific. This meaned we
    > cannot develop this app?
You're asking your question in the wrong place. These forums
    are
attended by volunteers who do not represent or work for
    Adobe. We're just
developers and designers who happen to use Flash.
    > And whereis weblink to fla file license? Because I need
    > evidence.
As NedWebs said (and I agree), your best bet is to contact
    Adobe
directly. Adobe is the most appropriate party to answer your
    question.
Would you rather trust guesses from people who don't work for
    Adobe, or
would you rather trust direct input from the company who
    develops Flash? ;)

    Hi,

Does anyone have a clue on this?

Older license files will not work in version 6.0 until we made public our

  • Unsupported file format - not solved by restart!

    Hello,
I recently installed aperture, and have been organizing and editing photos on my new imac 2.66 4 GB for over a day. I had encountered a few 'unsupported file format' errors, but suddenly I cant open any thing. Quitting and rebooting have no effect. Does anyone have any ideas? Will I have to re-install and reload my photos?
    Help!
    Eric

I’ve just started having the "Unsupported File Format" error on select other photos too, where the thumbnails looks OK but the photo won't load and you get the dark reddish frame instead. This problem does not go away when you restart Aperture.
Does anybody know if the photo has been corrupted at some point? The thumbnails look good in all three browser modes.
BTW, I also just started having the exact same black photo problem on a particular photo, and only when in the browser film strip mode. It looked fine in the other modes. Eventually, it stopped displaying as black and looked OK. I think it was after I restarted Aperture.
So far, I’ve only noticed these problems with my Nikon D300 photos, but others seemed to have had problems with older cameras too.
I'm using a 20" G5 iMac with my Aperture2 library on external FW drives.

  • Generating License File Info in 3rd Party Licensing Toolkit

    Hello,
I am using LV 2010 and the Third Party Licensing and Activation Toolkit:
    http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/209107
    (requires:http://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-9674)
I see that on many of the inputs the "license file info" is a required typedef input, but I don't see any method for generating the info inside it. I understand the password and path, but what does the 'handle' refer to?
My search for KB articles or examples has thus far been fruitless, so any pointers or example code would be appreciated.

    Hi Mellobuck,
Sorry about the confustion. As Chris mentioned, you shouldn't ever need to call the DLL manually. The reason the documentation did not show up for you is because of an error on my end while building the package for the toolkit.
We used the package format during our beta so that we could quickly serve up updates, and that worked great for us. As we released the product, we moved to the standard msi installers because that is what all of our engineering testing and QA processes are built around.
I've updated the download page for the toolkit to point to the msi installer instead:
    http://ftp.ni.com/evaluation/labview/lvtn/NITPLATK2010.exe
Please uninstall the "Third Party Licensing & Activation Toolkit" packages (all four) from VI Package Manager first, and then install the toolkit using the msi installer.
Thanks and sorry about the confusion.

  • IMovie 09 has trouble importing large video files from my JVC HD-40. I am trying to edit files such as these in 09. What should I do? Would buying iMovie 2011 help? I am shooting AVCHD files instead of the other mpeg2 file format.

    Hi,
I am new into the Apple Community. I have a camcorder known as the JVC GZ-HD40 US and I currently am trying to use iMovie 2009 to edit my movies. With my camcorder, I have the choice to use two different video formats: AVCHD or Mpeg2. All my videos are shot in the AVCHD (HD) file format. This camcorder also has a 120 G Hard Drive built into it. When I plug in the camcorder through USB to my MacPro, the Hard Drive of the camcorder shows up as a icon on the desktop. Many of my video clips are at least thirty minutes in length, inside the camcorder. When I try to import in iMovie my video files, it only imports around ten minutes of the video and skips to the end of the clip. I would greatly prefer to use my MacPro desktop to edit movies instead of my Windows 7 computer which seems to work fine. Is there a solution to this problem? Would the new iMovie 2011 application solve this problem? I also have the Final Cut Express to work with, and also, can't get it to work. What should I try doing?

    Hi all,
I have the exact same problem. I've just been to Thailand with my girlfriend, and we recorded a lot of stuff with my brand new Sony HD camcorder. And whenever the we ran out of camcorder memory we just emptied everything onto my HP laptop using the supplied Sony software, which produced m2ts files. When we got home, I realized that my Mac Pro/iMovie09 was not able to import this format. What a huge disappointment! Especially considering the fact that I just bought my mac back in March (my first mac ever) only for video editing and music composing (no problems with music composing, however!).
Well, I needed a solution, so last week I just bought the Voltaic HD converting software (35$), and it works great. No problems. Only thing is that my Mac Pro (quad intel core) had to work 24 hours a day for four straight days/nights in order to finish the converting job - resulting in 434 GB worth of mov-files. This is no problem as such, and the quality is great. BUT it seems rather stupid that this converting has to take place. If I use Sony Vegas on my PC, it works out of the box with my original m2ts-files. And I would really appreciate if Apple would implement a simple import function of m2ts-files in their software - one that would (if necessary) automatically convert the files to mov. Or even better: would work natively with the m2ts-files.
    Best,

  • Not able to play some of the copyrighted or licensed files

    Hi,
Since a month or so, I am not able to play most of my wma files, which were ripped from original audio CDs. The problem is not universally applicable to all of the licensed files because there are some, I am able to play(but that is only a minority, as that
represents music from just one original audio CD).
A few times in between I am able to play these files, but I am unable to find any correlation with any action/task performed. This problem resurfaces again and again.
I tried restoring the computer, but didn't solved it. Restarted, fixed the registry errors, but to no avail.
Please note that I am also having blue screen errors from time to time (one error in a day or two). The blue screen of death comes just randomly and computer restarts.
I also vaguely remember that a few weeks back, I solved this problem by typing some command in command prompt. I tried to find out that web page(from where I got this command), but couldn't. It was may be a registry problem. But, I am not 100% sure about all
    this.
Below are the outcomes on different players:

  • Changing the file format of spool output when scheduling a background job.

    Hello Experts,
I have an issue. It is related to Spool output format. I created a job for one report program for which the output is a list output. I have added one recipient in the 'Spool list recipient' while creating the job SM36. After the job is finished the spool output is sent to the recipient mail id as .htm format as an attachment. But the attachment should be excel sheet or text file. No coding in the program should be used to convert the file format. Only settings in the spool while creating job should be manipulated. Please help me in solving this issue.
    Regards.

    Hi Sunil,
You can use the logic for converting spool to PDF using program : RSTXPDFT4 . Alternatively you can use FM: CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF . In this FM you need to pass the Spool id .
u can make use of these FM's SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1

  • How to configure license file for Memory Leak tool and WL Server 9.2?

(I posted to general JRockit forum before realizing existence of this forum which is probably more applicable.)
    Here's our problem:
Running latest version of WL 9.2 MP3 and JRockit Mission Control 3.0.1
Able to run Mission Control, and connect to the WL Server and to run View Console with no problems.
I can't get Memory Leak tool to run because it complains about needing a license file.
First I tried with off the shelf WL 9.2 MP3.
    Get error:
A license for Memory Leak Detector could not be found on the JRockit at (1.5) weblogic.Server (192).
Error: Can not find component Memory Leak Detector for JRockit * in the license file. Please check http://www.jrockit.com/license for license updates.
So I downloaded license file from JRockit download site - wls92.zip. It contains several files, but no clear instructions on what to do with these files. I copied one of these files "LIC-WLSP92.txt" to my JRockit home as C:\bea\JROCKI~1\jre\license.bea
Tried again. Restarted WL server. Restarted JRockit Mission Control.
Get error: A license for Memory Leak Detector could not be found on the JRockit at (1.5) weblogic.Server (3052).
The license file does not exist at: C:\bea\JROCKI~1\jre\license.bea
Any advise on how to install license or who to contact for help?

    Installed Mission Control 3.0.3.
Got following message when I attempted to run Memory Leak:

Error: Can not find component Memory Leak Detector for JRockit * in the license file.

I believe that we're using the latest downloads of WebLogic 9.2.x and JRockit.
WebLogic is running using 9.2.3 and JRockit build R27.4.0-90_CR358515-94243-1.5.0_12-20080118-1154-windows-ia2

  • Is there a way to play flv & mkv file formats through media element in windows 8.1 app ?

i am trying to develop a video player so i just thought Is there a way to play flv & mkv file formats through media element in windows 8.1 app ? , coz when i tried media element it is supporting only mp4 & avi formats.

Here is a list of Media Foundation codecs
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd757927(v=vs.85).aspx
For the rest of the formats you have you write your own MFT-based codec and ship the codec with your app. See also
    implementing a Codec MFT (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd757274(v=vs.85).aspx)
    Media extensions sample (https://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/Media-extensions-sample-7b466096)
MKV and FLV are just container formats, though, you need to survey some video files to see what video codecs are actually in streams and support them one by one. Supporting some proprietary video formats may involve licensing costs from patent holders.

  • I would like to know how i can save an byte array to a mat file format (matlab file format '*.mat') within to use the matlab API

So, I search the binary matlab file format('*.mat').

    Title:
Moving Data Between MATLAB® and LabVIEW
    Problem:
How can I share data between LabVIEW and the MATLAB environment?
    Solution:
MATLAB users can move data between the
MATLAB environment and LabVIEW, you have several options. Prior to
LabVIEW 5.1, the only way to transfer data between these two
environments was to use the Save and Load functions. Those are discussed herein.
    Beginning
in LabVIEW 8.0, MathScipt was introduced. MathScript is an integrated
part of LabVIEW that you can use to combine intuitive graphical
dataflow programming with math-oriented textual programming. See the
attached links below for more information on MathScript.
    Beginning
in LabVIEW 5.1, the MATLAB script node was introduced into the LabVIEW
programming environment. The MATLAB script node makes ActiveX calls to
the MATLAB software from within LabVIEW. This requires that both MATLAB
be installed on the same machine and that a valid license is obtained.
More information on the MATLAB script node can be found in the attached
    KB's.
For all versions of LabVIEW, this data transfer can be
performed by saving the data in a file using the MATLAB software and
reading it directly from LabVIEW, or vice versa. In the MATLAB
environment, the command "save" allows you to save the data in
binary format (*.mat) or ASCII format. You also have an option of
saving it in ASCII format using a tab delimiter between data points and
the command "load" allows you to read in the data.
    ASCII Format
Complete the following steps to import or export data between LabVIEW and the MATLAB environment using an ASCII file format.
From the MATLAB environment to LabVIEW
To save a vector or a matrix X in tab-delimited ASCII format, enter the following in the command window or m-script file in the MATLAB environment:
    >>SAVE filename X -ascii -double -tabs
This creates a file named filename containing data X in tab-delimited ASCII format.
Import the file into LabVIEW using the Read From Spreadsheet File VI located on the Functions»File I/O palette.
From LabVIEW to the MATLAB environment
To export a matrix X from LabVIEW to the MATLAB environment, first save the data in ASCII format in LabVIEW using the Write To Spreadsheet File VI on the Functions » File I/O palette.
Enter the following in the command window of the MATLAB environment, or in the m-script file:
    >> LOAD filename
This reads the data into the MATLAB environment.
    Binary Format
Complete the following steps to import or export data between LabVIEW and the MATLAB environment.
From the MATLAB environment to LabVIEW
As mentioned above, LabVIEW does not save multiple variables to one
data with extra manipulation, and will not be discussed here.
Therefore, the only way of sending the data from the MATLAB environment
to LabVIEW without tampering with the MAT binary file structure is
using the ASCII format. Also, please bear in mind that you need to have
    one file for one variable.
From LabVIEW to the MATLAB environment
    Because
the MATLAB software saves data in its own binary format, the "MAT"
file, binary LabVIEW data must be converted to this format prior to
transferring the data. The attached examples can be used to save
LabVIEW data in the MATLAB software format. The convenience of the .MAT
file format is that more than one variable can be saved in the same
file. The example shows saving seven variables to .MAT format; the
example can be modified for any number of variables.
Once this data is saved from LabVIEW, it can be read into the MATLAB environment, using the following command:
    >>LOAD filename
    The Who
command can then be used to display all the seven variable names, and
you can display the content of them by entering the variable names at
    the command prompt as usual.

    Hello,
I previously used Firefox on my old Mac G4 with OS 10.3.9; the above issue existed with that system and Firefox 2.00.2 (or similar). I then "tried" to move to a G5 Mac with OS 10.5, hoping that an updated Mac Operating system and updating Firefox would solve that problem.
I'm now working on my son's MacBook Pro, OS 10.5.8, 2.4 ghz Intel Core 2 Duo; 2gb Memory; 2 gb 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM.
I still have a problem in Firefox Preferences trying to download .qif files. BofA Mortgage accounts only allow downloading of .qif files. My .qfx download works fine, but the error message is as follows:
The error message is that this is a corrupted file or one that Preview doesn't recognize.
and it is still a problem when trying to download Quicken .qif format files for our B of A mortgage.
The preferences for Firefox under File Helpers won't let me name the extension I want; instead, it CONFUSES .qif (Quicken Interchange Format) with .qtif (Quicktime Image Format) for Mac.
Therefore, when I download .qif files and try to import them to Quicken, I get a message that this is a corrupted file:
    thanks for any help.

Well, in the end, I just gave up and deleted the photos, in the hope that it was something to do with them. Took some more photos and they seem to have imported without any problems at all.
Given that the same irksome photos loaded on the wife's macbook without so much as a murmur, how weird is that?
Still- all's well that ends well. Thanks for the suggestions- much appreciated.

  • Can I Write Data to a *.xlxsx File Without Screwing Up the Excel File Formatting?

I'd like to programatically add LabVIEW-generated data to a nicely-formatted *.xlsx file, one with all the right borders and column widths, etc.  But every time I try to add the LabVIEW data, the xlsx file formatting gets all screwed up and the file gets corrupted.  Is there a way around this?
    Thanks!

    FB,
I was able to find the following link on the NI website.  I think it addresses the issue you are describing using the Excel ActiveX interface.

  • 2630 AAC File Format Not Supported!

Hi folks, after much hair pulling, experimenting and googling...
My new 2630 will not play AAC or M4A files. I'm using Nokia Music Manager and have had no problem transfering and playing mp3's (apparently the opposite problem to what most people have!) However, it gives me the option of 'convert to mobile optimised format?'. When I click 'yes', it changes the format to AAC, the file ends with .aac instea of .mp3, I can find the file in my phone, and yet if I try to play it is displays 'File Format Not Supported'. If I then go into details under format it says 'not available' and doesn't list length or copyright the way the mp3 files do.
Seeing as aac files take up half the space I'm really hoping someone can help me out!
    Thanks,
    Annelise

Unfortunately the 2630 is a bit too basic to accept formats like AAC.
It's not designed to be used as a music player so it only has a basic feature set and no option to add a memory card.
If you are using mp3's as ringtones you could try reducing the bit rate and setting the file to mono by using another conversion program. Setting it to mono will reduce the file size by nearly 50%.
