[SOLVED] Logo on the website in bad quality?

Hello,
Since some days I've noticed that the logo on the website is very bad quality:
Screenshot taken in debian lenny (at the office) with iceweasel 3.0.1
Has something changed or am I or my setup to blame?
Zl.
/EDIT: the img-tags on the forum seem to enlarge the image, also worsening the image quality AND giving the impressions my whole screen is F***ed. No such thing though: only the image itself has jagged edges...

Sounds great in theory, but unfortunately the logo would then looked squished when viewed at normal font sizes (e.g. false resizing).

  • "Bad quality received from network module."

My computer has 2 Fieldpoint ethernet banks setup to allow Lookout to interface with mulitple HW peripherals.  Lookout launches automatically when the computer starts up.  And after everything is loaded, one of the ethernet banks will almost immediately log the following alarm, "Bad quality received from network module."  Does anyone know what criteria/logic is behind the triggering of this alarm?
We have been unable to find any issues that would cause this alarm to go off.

it is power cycled it works again. We have another FP1600 on same network with no problem. Ethernet drop is 230 feet. Part# is 185690E-01, firmware 4.11. I have swapped it with a spare unit we have of the same part number, 185690E-01 and firmware release.Mike,

  • After update to ff22, why is the website icon missing in awesome bar?

In older versions of ff, an icon(logo) of the website i was visiting appeared in the awesome bar just left of "http". Hovering the cursor over it brought up balloon with description. Now hovering over it brings up a balloon text that says this website does not supply ownership information. Such sites as ATT, Nationwide Ins, Microsoft, etc. I can survive of course without it, but just would like to know why the change. I see the icon better than I can read the text.
HMMM.. after adding the trouble shooting tool just now, a blue puzzle piece just appeared in area I referenced. Just curious.

Sorry, I am answering my own post. I finally found my answer under topic "How do I tell if my connection ....secure." If you wonder what I mean:

  • Is there a way to remove the folder icons from the bookmarks toolbar without removing the favicons for the websites?

    Hi
In Firefox , I would like to remove the folder icons in my bookmarks toolbar. However I do not want to remove the favicons (logos) from the websites in the bookmark folders and the bookmarks toolbar.
If possible I would like to use userchrome to do this. (I'm not very good at userchromes though, so a clear explenation would be highly appreciated)
    Thanks

  • Since upgrading (FF29.0-Windows 8.0), only the active tab on any given Firefox window has the website name;other tabs have no name, only site logo. How do I fix?

I recently upgraded to Firefox 29.0 (running Windows 8.0). Since upgrading, only the active tab on any given Firefox window has the site name. All other inactive tabs generally have a site logo on the left side of the tab, but none of the other tabs have the website name. If I push Alt + Tab to cycle through the windows, the website name will then show up on each tab, but once I select a window to work in the website names disappear from the tabs again, except for the active tab. Is this a feature of the upgrade? Is there a setting to have the site names appear? I would really like to have the ability to see what site is on each tab without selecting.

  • How do i edit the logo of my website using adobe photoshop

actually i need to change my website's logo and make it transparent more in background format. actually i tried to create but i get blackish and whitish backgroung on my blog when i upload it. please help me regarding this and also my  elements arent working for it. the top logo on http://www.labshab.com as you can see is blackish and creating slug and havoc on it polease help me to avoid it

I'm assuing that you don't have the original source file for your logo. You should always get the original source file for your logo from the designer and archive it both on your local machine, and online and ask the designer if they guarantee holding the files for atleast 6 months after the project.
But since you haven't done this I will attempt to help you solve the problem as best as I can. But keep this in mind going forward in the future.
Your best bet, is to download a trial of Adobe Illustrator and watch a tutorial video on using the "Image Trace" feature. What it will do is convert this raster image into vector outlines which are scalable to any size and editable. Once you've done this, delete the white background and save for web as a PNG 24, do not save as a GIF, period, ever.
You should also always use PNG logo images on your site so that you can change the background at any time without having to adjust the logo. The designer should also provide you with notes and a style guilde on what font was used. You should technically reproduce the text with actual type rather than use Image Trace on this type of thing.

  • MiniDisplay Port (Thunderbolt MacbookPro) to DisplayPort Dell U2410m don't work! The signal only comes as YPbPr, no RGB and bad quality. Is there any solution?

I want to connect my new MacBook Pro via DisplayPort to a Dell U2410m monitor.
But the signal only comes as YPbPr, no RGB and bad quality. Is there any solution?
It works with the mini display port to DVI adapter from Apple but I want to use the DisplayPort.

    J~
cmelbourne91 was suggesting HDMI because many of the MDP/Thunderbolt to DVI adapters come with an additional DVI to HDMI (not Apple's) and you likely won't find any MDP to HDMI becuase of something weird with one of the Apple or HDMI related patents and the type of cable/jack/plug required for it.
As for my computer (15" MBP mid 2010), it almost seems as if I have your problem but intermittently. When connected to an external monitor or projector, the thing will project just fine, but then after some time (and no movement of the computer, cables, or screen) the connection quits. Sometimes it comes back on, sometimes it does not, but it basically registers as if there is no external display.
    Any additional info on this?

  • The SOLUTION to bad iDVD Photo Quality

I have been a fairly silent member of this forum for a long time now, and have seen many supposed "solutions" with the known issue of how iDVD compresses, and ultimately destroys, image quality in DVDs. Granted, much of this compression is normal, considering a full-quality photo from iPhoto looks quite different after being smashed into the standard NTSC 720x480 format of a DVD and compressed to a variation of MPEG-2. That being said, this workaround has been well-tested, and will give you a very high quality slideshow that you can play on your TV. (take note that low quality TV will come into play in making the final product look bad, not the slideshow itself!)
NOTE: I only tested this in iPhoto 6/iDVD 6 on a 10.4.8 PowerMac G5. I would love to get confirmation it works on Intel Macs and other machines.
    1. Select an album or group of pictures in iPhoto
    2. Go to File > Export and click the Quicktime tab
    3. You will have several options...
    - Width/Height: Defaults to 640x480 (4x6 image). This will result in about 100kb per image file, which gives you over 90 pictures for a 10 MB slideshow that you can e-mail to your friends.
    - Display image for: Obviously controls how long each image is displayed in the slideshow.
    - Background: Can be an image or a color. This is what you will see as a border if the slideshow image is smaller than the window.
    - Music: This is actually kinda complicated. What is the "currently selected music?" When you select an album and press the "Play" button to do a quick slideshow, there is a tab for Music. Whatever is selected here will be added to the slideshow when you export it.
    4. Click 'Export', choose the filename and location, and then save it.
The resulting Quicktime file will be quite small, while still retaining the quality of your images. It uses a default crossdissolve transition that can't be changed. It keeps this quality when you drag the Quicktime file into iDVD and burn a disk/save a disk image.
    Downsides...
    - no ken burns
    - can't use different transitions
    - no other advanced slideshow options
But it gets the job done! If you're wondering why this works while other methods don't, it's all in the .Mov container that's created. If you open the file in Quicktime and got to Window > Show Movie Info, you will see that it lists each JPEG within the package, along with a transition component. It doesn't compress the images into a video file, but rather references the original images within the .Mov package! Cool huh?
Let me know if this works for you guys. I've offered this advice to many people with good results, which is why I'm posting it here.
    smi1ey =)

    Smiley,
What you suggest isn't really a SOLUTION to bad iDVD photo quality, because you aren't creating a DVD that can be played back with a DVD player.
You are simply suggesting an alternate approach for distributing slideshows which requires the receiver have a computer. iPhoto/iMovie give you several options on prepairing slideshows/movie for various methods of distribution (CD, email, etc).
Some DVD players will also play jpg files from a CD or DVD and that avoids the mpg-2 compression quality loss, but a TV set image is still a TV set image.
which gives you over 90 pictures for a 10 MB slideshow
A lot of email programs aren't happy with a file that size, and of course, since you have created a QuickTime movie, your PC friends will also need to install QuickTime. The Flip4Mac Studio application will let you convert your QuickTime movie to a WMV movie for those with PCs.
I'm glad you found an approach that you are happy with.
If you open the file in Quicktime and got to Window > Show Movie Info, you will see that it lists each JPEG within the package, along with a transition component. It doesn't compress the images into a video file, but rather references the original images within the .Mov package
BTW, there are several different CODECs that can be used in the .MOV file container - Photo JPEG is just one.
QuickTime Pro offers more saving options than the standard version, so I recommend you invest in QuickTime Pro. You will be able to create your slideshow directly in QuickTime Pro.

  • On some of the tabs I pin to the top of the browser as an "app" the website icon is simply a dotted square!? Others have the web-logo. Is there a fix for that or procedure I am missing?

Wondering why some website tabs I pin to the browser just show a small dotted square instead of the website's logo. So then, I have to hover over the tab to reveal text as to what site it is! Is there a fix for this??? Thanks

If the web site doesn't provide a Favicon, Firefox uses the default "icon". As of Firefox 8.0 that default icon is the blank dashed square, where earlier versions used an icon that was a bit narrower and looked like a sheet of paper with the upper-right corner folded over.
You can revert to the old default icon with this '''userChrome.css''' code. <br /> <br />

    list-style-image: url("chrome://global/skin/icons/folder-item.png")!important;
    -moz-image-region: rect(0px, 16px, 16px, 0px)!important;
    </nowiki></pre>

Unfortunately, since an unauthorized party opened it, Apple won't have anything to do with it at all. It's not eligible for an out of warranty replacement.

My firefox is loading Bad quality images, but actully the images are perfectly alright

In my experience, print quality settings such as dpi/ppi are hidden in your printer driver settings and not directly available through Firefox's UI. In the print dialog, if you click the Properties button, you hopefully will gain access to this setting. Obviously native web resolution (96ppi) can give disappointing results, so hopefully you can find a place to increase it.

  • Stills using the Ken Burns effects are bad quality

The high quality still I'm inserting into the timeline using the Ken Burns effects are bad quality.  Do you know why?  I don't have that problem in iMovie.

Yes, I have rendered it (I think).  Not sure how to do that and don't know how to get the "complete specs" of the still image and project.

I've never had any problems with mine ever. The only freeze I've had was from a file I recorded on tivo, cut commericals out in movie maker and then re-encoded to the lowest possible bit rate that that zens nati've resolution supports. Try turning your sensitivity in the touch pad down. Sometimes if you have it up to high you may have a chance of doing that (although I have only had slow response, instead of a freeze by doing that).
You also have to compare to all of the other products out there: Ipod and Zune are a lot worse with pathetic little problems (annoyances). I didn't pay for tech support?
