[SOLVED] makepkg fails because of libqt-mt.so.3
When I attempt to makepkg a pkgbuild or compile (make) from source, it fails. This is the final error message from my last attempt at a AUR pkgbuild:
/opt/qt/bin/uic: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
make[3]: *** [Alphacubeconfig.h] Error 127

make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/pek/builds/kdedecor-alphacube/src/Alphacube-0.3/kwin'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/pek/builds/kdedecor-alphacube/src/Alphacube-0.3'
make: *** [all] Error 2
==> ERROR: Build Failed. Aborting...
This seems to happen when I try to install older pkgbuilds or source packages. I have successfully installed google-earth and some other pkgbuild so I know it can work. I only learned how to use ABS a few days ago so maybe I'm doing something wrong? I followed the guide and am using fakeroot. If it matters, I installed Arch from the Arch-Office cd; it is completely updated except I am using the 2.6.19Beyond kernel.
Any ideas? I noticed that in all the failed builds, the following line is always present... *dramatic dunh dunh DUNH sound*
/opt/qt/bin/uic: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
P.S. I checked and /opt/qt/bin/uic IS indeed there and libqt-mt.so.3 is in /opt/qt/lib

After installing qt, di you updated your profiles? You can do that for the current terminal by running:
bash /etc/profile
or logout/relogin.
Also, do you have a:
/opt/qt/lib
line in /etc/ld.so.conf ? It should have been done when you installed qt but maybe it didn't installed properly.
Yes, I did update my profile. I've logged out and even ran bash /etc/profile for good measure.
Strangely enough, I did not have "/opt/qt/lib" in my /etc/ld.so.conf. I added it in manually and rebooted. It didn't help though. I get the same errors. I checked all everything in /var/log and couldn't find any clues there.
Is there some other config file that defines the path for the qt lib's?

SOLVED: makepkg fails at signing package
Hi all,
I'm trying to build a package from AUR but makepkg fails to sign the package.
I receive the following message: "==> WARNING: Failed to sign package file." and nothing else.
I have, as far as i can tell, installed all the necessary keys (pacman-key --recv-key and pacman-key --lsign). I even tried to completely reset the keyring (remove of /etc/pacman.d/gnupg, pacman-key --init, ...) but it does not solve my problem.
I can see the key when issuing pacman-key -l.
Any idea is welcome cause I'm completely loss right now and I fear becoming nuts...

That should explain everything you need to sign packages
To sign packages you need your own key, what comes with pacman is the developers' keys for the packages in the repos

[solved] Makepkg fails to sign package w/o asking password.
I'm not sure when exactly this issue really started happening, but it was somewhere around the time that the new versions of Pacman and gnupg came out (a few weeks).
I have a local ~/.makepkg.conf configured to sign any package I build with my key. The issue is that once any package completes building, and it is ready to be signed, I will sometimes be presented with a Pinentry screen to enter my password for signing the package and sometimes it will just fail to sign the package without ever asking for my password. There is no indication as to why it failed in the terminal output nor in the journal.
This is happening on both of my Arch systems, so I know it's not just a localized issue with my one computer.

JanOk, thanks. My confusion was because I was unaware that makepkg was simply a bash script.
I did what you suggested, and copied it to my home directory, edited the create_signature section to add the --verbose option and changed it to output to stdout. I added --verbose, --debug-level guru, and --log-file options to my gpg-agent.conf file. I ran the makepkg process twice, and as expected it asked for a password the first attempt and failed immediately on the second attempt. When it should be loading a cached password, it is bombing out with a "Broken pipe" error.
Terminal output of build 1:

[Solved] Makepkg fails on all Mercurial (*-hg) packages
Hello,
I'm not sure if this is a result of recent updates, but I noticed that makepkg now fails on all mercurial packages. I attempted to install both the dillo browser and pytyle, and received the following messages (this is for pytyle2-hg, but the messages were basically identical):

The mercurial portion of both packages seems to match the VCS template exactly. Executing "hg clone [hgroot] [hgrepo]" works, as does performing a pull from the cloned directory.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Solved] Upgrade fails because of net-tools
It was almost a week since I last did a "pacman -Syu" on my system. Before that, I had read about depreciation of net-tools and have already modified my rc.conf to use the newer simple network setup. Everything was working fine. Even upgradation of the system (pacman -Syu) also worked fine last week.
I was out of town for a few days. So, when I came back on Sunday, I tried updating the system. Pacman found updates and downloaded them. But it failed when actually upgrading the packages. It gives the following error:
[vinay@arch ~]$ sudo pacman -Syu

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.
As you can see it complains about /bin/hostname file existing in the filesystem and that causing problem for net-tools package. I'm not sure how or why this happened. The /bin/hostname is supposed to be available on the filesystem, right?
Since net-tools was depreciated in favour of netcfg, I tried removing net-tools. When I try that, it offers to remove netcfg package as well!

Do you want to remove these packages? [Y/n] n
What I did was to upgrade each package manually (excluding net-tools package). But this is cumbersome and tedious. I did a search on the forum and on internet and did not find other people with the same problem. So, is something wrong/corrupt on my arch installation?
If so, how do I fix it?
Thanks in advance,
Vinay V
Last edited by vinayv (2011-06-22 01:31:49)Thanks for the reply. I should have searched for a generic "exists in filesystem" rather than net-tools error specific "/bin/hostname exists in filesystem". I thought this was because of the recent move to netcfg from net-tools. Maybe I'm mistaken.
Anyway, thanks for pointing out that stikie to me. Let me try the suggestions in that post -
[SOLVED] makepkg fails when building libdivecomputer-git from AUR.
I'm not sure where to start debugging this failure as I'm a newb when it comes to compiling packages.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Apparanetly it is complaining about the ' '. This respective line (28) is:

I changed " to ' and updated the md5sum, but i still get similar error messages.
What can I do?
Thx!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I did what you suggested on all three folders: The main Music folder on the Mac hard disk, on the iTunes folder on the external 160GB Hard drive which contains the current media content and on the new 2TB hard disk on which I created a new media folder. I selected permission for myself which were already read+write and chose the apply to enclosed items on all three folders. I then changed the permission for others to read+write and applied to enclose items also an all three folders.
But it didn't solve anything.
Here's what happens: I choose the new directory in iTunes preferences (the media folder on the 2TB disk) I then go to File > Library > Organize Library and then choose Consolidate files. A window pops up and says copying "filename" with a progression bar underneath but the filename never changes. Instead the beachball appears when the mouse pointer hoovers over iTunes. Upon pressing the iTunes icon in the Dock it says that iTunes is not responding. At this point there's 2 different ways:
A - If I then force quit iTunes the iTunes window disappears but the application does not close. When I want to eject the 2TB disk it says it's being used by another application. Only when I cut the power to the 2TB disk does iTunes fully close. A window then pops up and says that the drive was not put away properly etc.
B - if I cut the power to the drive without force quitting iTunes, a window appears with the said: "Copying failed because you don't have permissions to change iTunes media folders etc." iTunes remains open and fully functional. -
My App store doesn´t work under my user. Everything is ok if I start with a guest user. I have a Yosemite MacBook Pro. How can I solve this? Because I'm unable to open the App Store, Mail, Contacts and so on. Please can you help me.
Here it is. Hope that helps. Thank You.

Prior to the Increase Capacity for Outbound Network Calls update, my Azure websites running in
Standard mode experienced occasional connection attempt failed errors. Since this update the errors stopped but starting on 12/30/14, these errors started up again on both
South Central and East regions:
"A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond [IP]:80"
It occurs when attempting to consume an external web service over HTTP. This issue is not reproducible on our local environments nor did it occur with our previous shared hosting provider.
On Azure, the same web service call can result in this error or will return a response successfully.
There doesn't appear to be any pattern as to why the same call would work one time but not another.
How can this be resolved again? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.Hi,
Please have a look at this article:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/narahari/archive/2011/12/21/azure-a-connection-attempt-failed-because-the-connected-party-did-not-properly-respond-after-a-period-of-time-or-established-connection-failed-because-connected-host-has-failed-to-respond-x-x-x-x-x-quot.aspx,
it gives us several ways to solve this issue, hope this helps.

[SOLVED]fsck fails on bootup due to other hdd name
Hi,
is set up arch today on an initially 2 hdd sys ...
after it was set up and the files i wanted to keep were moved to the hdd which would remain, i disconnected one hdd ..
(i had to change grub/menu.lst sdb1 ---> sda1 due to this disconnect)
unfortunatly during bootup fsck still thinks it must check sdb1 which will fail because its not there
How do i solve this,
thanks,

There is precious little information concerning this warning dialog. If I am disconnected from any network; wifi, Bluetooth, Thunderbolt Ethernet, doesn't matter, I get this error in a pop-up dialog. "Your connection failed because the communication device is unavailable. Make sure it's connected to your computer and try reconnecting" Creating a new Location under System Preferences / Network does not solve the problem. 1. What is asking to be connected? 2. How do I stop this? Running Yosemite 10.10.2 on a MBP 13"
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Hi. I'm new to Arch Linux (just installed it a few days ago; I had been using Kubuntu for some years now), and so I'm also new to AUR. If this isn't the place to post this, please accept my apologies and redirect me to the right place.
As per the guidelines, to install this package I downloaded the PKGBUILD, the nethack-qt.desktop file and the nethack-qt.patch file. Then I ran makepkg.
It fails. The last lines from the output are:

So, how can I do to install nethack-qt? Am I doing something wrong (or haven't I done something I should have) or is it a problem with the package? If so, shouldn't it be fixed?
Thank you for any help.
Last edited by bruno321 (2010-03-08 23:22:15)Ok!! So, after retrying several times and trying different things I found out how to do it.
Here was the solution, I had seen it since the beginning but didn't know how to apply it (since as I already stated I'm no AUR guru).
Anyway, here's how:
Download the PKGBUILD, the nethack-qt.desktop file, the nethack-qt.patch and nethack-343-src.tgz. Extract the last file, edit /sys/Unix/Makefile.src and "add D__CORRECT_ISO_CPP_STRINGS_H_PROTO to CFLAGS" as elvaka said on AUR. Now, retar the file with the same name, nethack-343-src.tgz .
If we makepkg now, it will fail because of the integrity test. Here's how to bypass it:
Edit the PKGBUILD, comment the three md5sums lines as here:
# md5sums=('21479c95990eefe7650df582426457f9'
# 'f8a168c25ad704fb79e9180275528059'
# '6a426c8f1c2763fcbed05bb1222a584a')
and now we use makepkg like this: "makepkg --skipinteg". That should do it. Now just "pacman -U nethack-qt-3.4.3-2-i686.pkg.tar.gz", and that should be it.

Preview failed because Adobe Muse could not make connection over HTTP.
The most commons cause of this is fire wall software which prevents HTTP connections,
you mai need to change Fire wall settings to allow Adobe Muse to make connections??
Fire Wall is not problem!!
I asked this question a month ago, no one has answered.
does anyone know how to solve this problem?
I apologize for the bad English
thanks in advanceMac or Windows? What software do you have installed that may be interfering with an application's ability to open an internet connection (i.e. virus checker, anti-malware utility, firewall, etc.).
