SOLVED missing module rt2860 (wireless)

Hi,
Today I installed arch for the first time and I'm now trying to get my WLAN working. I followed the instructions from the wiki which should get it working (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MSI … link_Cards).
When I entered modprobe rt2860 I got this error:
FATAL: Module rt2860 not found.
Why is the rt2860 missing and how can I get it?!
I hope you can help me.

    I'm having trouble getting my wireless NIC to work.
    I have a clean, up-to-date system, no [testing].  I'm using the stock kernel, 2.6.30, which according to the 1000HE wiki (http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Asu … 000HE#WiFi), is supposed to work out of the box.
    The problem I run into with iwconfig is that it doesn't set an essid.  The essid shows as blank, then I run:
    iwconfig ra0 essid "my id"
    and iwconfig ra0 again shows a blank essid.
    I've tried wpa_supplicant, and it just spams CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS indefinitely (my config file is attached).
    I've tried wifi radar, and it gives me errors about the network I'm trying to connect to having no AP address.
    I've only tried to connect to the one network here that I have access to.  It's an unsecured university network with many APs (I think it's called roaming or something?).  Once you have an IP leased, you try to go to a website and are automatically forwarded to an authentication login page.

    I use a wpa_supplicant based connection. I suggest that you do the same, the config file is crap and it doesn't appear to accept iwconfig input.
    For netcfg and this card, try netcfg 2.5 which will be out in the next 24 hours. In the meantime, you could configure your networks in a wpa_supplicant config file. Don't use a catch all like above, create a more specific one.

  • [Solved] How to add missing module?

    I have just installed a second build of Arch on my laptop (first: Arch686, second: Arch64). Once through the installation process I rebooted but upon startup it tells me missing bcm43xx module. The module was available during installation but did not get installed with my install. Not sure what I missed out during installation process... Anyway, is there a way to install the missing module without having to go through the install process again and where would I get it from?
    BTW: 'modprobe -l | grep bc' does not list the module, hence I am sure its missing/not installed.

    Ooops. I have used an old parameter from my current installtion - although I do not use it (!bcm43xx). My mistake. b43 is loaded. Strange I still cannot see wlan0 when I do 'ifconfig', but should be able to sort this.

    I'm new to Arch so please be gentle ;-)
    I recently upgraded hoping to find improved support for my wireless.  I now find that the kernel recognises and loads the appropriate module:

    I checked over the kernel source and the rt2680sta module is the code from ralink cleaned up for the 2.6.29 kernel.  (I tried building the ralink release but it needs patching for 2.6.29)

    two questions:
    1. Does this mean support for the ralink driver is included by default or *not* included by default?
    It seems it means *not*
    2. If I uncomment this line then makepkg refuses to build the package because the config file's md5 is no longer valid.  How then am I *meant* to make modifications to the build configuration?
    right or wrong I used makepkg -g to generate checksums for my modified config file and pasted these into PKGBUILD.  It then builds happily.  After installing I can run wpa_supplicant with no args and confirm ralink is in the list of drivers.  Excellent.  But still no success.
    Two things I have noticed:
    1. wicd places quotes "" around my pre-shared key.  If I run wpa_supplicant from the command line and use the conf file created by wicd it reports the PSK as being unparsable.  If I remove the quotes then the file is parsed correctly.
    2. It doesn't solve my problem :-(

    The file b2b.war is missing from the build 8.1 sp2.
    Go back to the original build 8.1 as found in the orange box "BEA WebLogic Workshop and Platform 8.1 - Evaluation and Resource Kit" Once you install this version you will have the file b2b.war

  • Launchpad Error: Missing Module URL

    Hi Experts,
    I am trying to launch the Fiori Launchpad but it shows blue screen. In the console it gives Missing module URL -  sap.ui2.srvc.Chip  .
    I have gone through this note #1942166. There are errors in the Database table /UI2/CHIP_CHDR. As mentioned in the note to implement note #1961957, this note could not be implemented.
    We are currently on SP08 level. And earlier the Fiori Launchpad was working fine. It suddenly started giving error.
    Also, I checked SU53, there are no logs. So could not be authorization issue.
    Running reports /UI2/CHIP_SYNCHRONIZE_CACHE & /UI2/DELETE_CACHE_AFTER_IMP didn't help either.
    Please suggest.

    I have installed from the Arch from the latest media, and followed the Begginers Guide.
    I have installed to a partition on my hard disk, one of many, and installed Grub and the mbr.
    The system boots fine. ALSA works, Xorg is installed, and pacman -Syu says "nothing to do"
    It all seems fine except... X won't start.

    It appears that some modules are missing, and indeed none of those mentioned in the errors are there if I do lsmod.
    But that is about the limit of my understanding.
    Can anyone tell me how to add the modules if they aren't even on the machine at all.
    Pacman doesn't find them. For example pacman -S glx gives package not found.
    Any ideas or pointers much appreciated.

  • [Solved] Missing iptables modules

    In an attempt to secure my Arch machine, I've discovered that I am missing several iptables modules that are "supposed" to be there.
    Here is the list of available modules.
    $ sudo cat /proc/net/ip_tables_matches
    udplite
    udp
    tcp
    icmp
    As a major n00b in the iptables (and networking), this was the first place I've looked.
    Kernel: 3.19.2-1-ck
    Iptables: v1.4.21
    I can find more information if needed.

    iptables will load all required modules dynamically. I think in /proc/net/ip_tables_matches are only the currently required modules:

  • Kernel 2.6.32 does not work with RT2860 Wireless Card

    since 2.6.31 my RT-2870 is not longer working
    ifconfig says that the Wireless ra0 was renamed to wlan0 and since then its not longer working
    since 2.6.32 my RT-2860 (build in) is not longer working too
    it was renamed from ra0 to wlan0 too and read above^^
    whats happening there?
    since now i used wpa_supplicant but i already tried with NetworkManager and WICD

  • [Solved] tun module was loaded but not in lsmod?

    Hi Everybody,
    I loaded the tun module with "sudo modprobe tun" without any error message but didn't see it anywhere in "sudo lsmod". What might be the problems? I'm using linux-ck and wondering if linux-ck does anything here.
    The reason I want to load the tun module is that I saw this error:

    It looks like the same issue. Actually, I did a search for "tun" in the Networking forum (but not the newbie forum) and still couldn't find an answer.
    My /usr/src/linux-3.7.2-2-ck/.config has CONFIG_TUN=m. Then is there any other reason I cannot load the tun module?

    I tried the "iwconfig wlan0 channel auto", but that didn't work. Here's the output of "lspci | grep -i net":

    So what's the problem here? I searched the forum and google, and it seemed that I connected to a wrong router(for sometimes I only one "carrier lost" then "timed out"), but how was that happened? Things worked quite well before the upgrading as well as in my Windows environment.

    Thanks Proofrific, but I believe it's not, for the DHCP server is a built-in module in my wireless router.
    I am now able to connect to my wireless network now. And it seems to be a little kernel bug as I discovered a thread(sorry but I forgot which one) in the forum discussing a similar problem.... Somebody in that post suggested a work-around to change the channel, as their default setting is channel 13 or 12.
    I tried and it did work! Just simply open your router's setting page and then change the channel from auto to 3(in my case), and netcfg worked well now. For the manual configuration, I suppose the "iwconfig wlan0 channel 3" should be issued.

  • [SOLVED] Missing acpi hwmon sysfs interface on Eeepc 1000H

    Hi,
    I am running a fresh install using Linux 3.15.8-1-ARCH kernel on Asus Eeepc 1000H and there is a problem with the detected thermal sensors.
    After configuring sensors using sensors-detect (yes to all answers, full detection), I only get this:
    $ sensors
    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Core 0:        +4.0°C  (crit = +90.0°C)
    eeepc-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    fan1:         970 RPM
    It misses the acpitz-virtual-0 corresponding to the acpi thermal zone which temperature can be read in /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp and with "acpi -t" command.
    Unfortunately, the temperature reported by coretemp-isa-0000 sensor is wildly wrong, and cannot be used to drive fancontrol, whereas the acpi temperature is correct.
    I checked that hwmon, thermal_sys, coretemp and eeepc_laptop modules are loaded.
    I also tried to add /etc/sensors.d/EeePC-0123456789 as said in https://forums.archlinux.fr/topic14506.html (french):
    chip "acpitz-virtual-0"
      label temp1 "temp1"
      compute temp1 @-20,@-20
      label temp2 "Core 0"
      compute temp2 @-20,@-20
    but I am not able to get the desired output of sensors -u. all I get is that:
    $ sensors -u
    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Core 0:
      temp2_input: 2.000
      temp2_crit: 90.000
      temp2_crit_alarm: 0.000
    eeepc-isa-0000

    I also tried to install acpi-eeepc-generic from AUR, but unsurprisingly, it did not change anything.
    All I can tell about former behaviour is that I had no problem running sensors and using fancontrol with Xubuntu 12.04 which uses 3.2.0 kernel.
    Can someone give me a clue of what is going on here about missing acpitz-virtual-0 sensor ?
