Thank you Scimmia .. It's really simple, this works

  • [Solved] Install package python-evdev from AUR

    I belive this is the correct section to post this but I have a problem installing the package python-evdev where I get the error ( Unsupported package: Potentially dangerous ! )
    after trying to install with yaourt and pip install python-evdev results in bash: pip: command not found even after checking that extra/python-setuptools 1:5.2-1 is installed
    and extra/python2-setuptools 1:5.2-1 is installed.
    I realize there are other modules for hooking x server events but this one I have already written 200 lines of code for and is key to my application working.  I was able to install
    and utilize this module in ubuntu but cannot seem to get it installed in archlinux.  Any guidance would be apreciated.

    I asumed pip came with setup tools, so following ids1024's lead I did a pacman -S python-pip which solved the command not found issue.  I downloaded and untar'ed the package from AUR and issued a makepkg -s from within the extracted folder.  There seems to be an issue with the licence which I can now see has to do with the person who make the package
    I did not realize the dynamics of how AUR works because I am new to arch, so I appologize if I bothered anyone.
    [Update] I have abondoned the idea of getting pythons evdev module installed as I have located a python3-xlib module which seems to have installed correctly, incidently I was unable to locate a xlib ported to python3 in my other distro, but found it in AUR here so this should work, will have to adapt my code but not the end of the world.  Else if (Xlib != WORKING): work directly with /dev/input/eventn using root

  • [SOLVED] Missing package () function for PyTyle2

    Hi, I was trying to install this tarball from the AUR: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=42541
    But it prompts the following error:
    ==> ERROR: Missing package() function in /home/kolt/AUR/pytyle2-hg/PKGBUILD
    I've read the PKGBUILD and have no idea why this is happening. I already installed the dependencies needed.
    Any clue?

    Read the pacman output, it refers to the package() function and makepkg doesn't find it in the PKGBUILD as said. Ask the maintainer to update or orphan it, if he doesn't respond file an AUR request.

  • Exaile - missing gnome-python-extras problem [SOLVED]

    Hi,
    Until last week i was able to fetch lyrics with exaile, but something broke it, and now exaile is complaining about missing gnome-python-extras. I have installed both libgtkhtml and gnome-python-extras:
    $ pacman -Qs gnome-python-extras libgtkhtml exaile
    local/gnome-python-extras 2.14.3-1
        Gnome Python interfaces for libraries not part of the core platform
    local/libgtkhtml 2.11.1-1
        An HTML library for GTK
    local/exaile 0.2.11-1
        Exaile is a media player aiming to be similar to KDE's AmaroK, but for GTK+
    Reinstall didn't help. Any ideas?

    Hi,
    thanks for the tip. It kinda solved the problem.
    I can see now the lyrics and the other tabs, but there is just a button that says, that 'open browser' and a link next to it. And when I try to open the information tab again exaile dies. I suppose that's another bug.
    So now I'm trying to build the whole xulrunner from abs as I'm writing. I'm not really familiar with bug reporting, but if it still isn't working, I will report it.
    Anyway, here is the bug report from bug buddy: http://lmanweb.extra.hu/gecko-bugreport.txt
    EDIT: After installing xulrunner from abs exaile won't die, but it still don't load the pages within the tabs, and the wiki plugin still doesn't work
    EDIT2: OK, i reported it: bug ID 9660

  • [SOLVED] Missing xorg packages

    Hi guys,
    I am following the Beginner's guide on the wiki, and stuck at the "Install X" point, because apparently, a couple of packages are missing in the repo. I have tried several mirrors, that are according to the mirror list 100% up to date, but same result.
    Install command (as in the guide):
    pacman -S xorg-server xorg-xinit xorg-utils xorg-server-utils
    Result (this is a second attempt, the first attempt downloaded all the other packages just fine):
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20678367/arch-m … ckages.png
    Mod edit: The image you posted is too big, see our Forum Etiquette.
    Apparently the missing packages are:
    xkeyboard-config-2.2.1-1-any
    xorg-server-common-1.10.4-1-i686
    xf86-input-evdev-2.6.0-3-i686
    xorg-server-1.10.4-1-i686
    xorg-xinit-1.3.0-3-i686
    What's the deal here?

    Well, pacman -Syu worked. I must be _really_ unlucky, I just did a -Syu last night, I think I'll have to add the "y" to every install from now on just in case
    Thanks!
    yes, xorg-server 1.11 was moved last night

  • Missing packages in Software Update

    Hello,
    I wanted to report a problem with software update. We have multiple different T540p models here at work, some are i7s and some are i5s. We do a fresh clean install of Windows to remove all of the bloatware, then run system update to fetch all of the drivers. The i7 models pickup all of the drivers fine, while the i5 models are missing some software packages. I believe system update works by associating your machine type/id with the backend. It will then give you a list of all of the drivers/software required for your system.
    The only missing package I noticed is the Hotkeys Features Integration with 8.1 . I know this can be downloaded manually but wanted to pass this along.
    Product ID: 20BE004FUS
    Serial # isn't needed
    Thanks.

    When you say "FN Key Manager", are you talking about Hotkeys Features Integration, or something else?
    Are you deploying Win7 or Win8.1?

  • Missing package... it's been 2 months and still no "refund"

     Hi,
    Sometime in late March/early April, I filed a missing package report for a pair of headphones I ordered online. Two weeks later, I called up Best Buy about the status of the order, and was told that UPS did an investigation and concluded that the package was lost.
    Support told me they would credit me the amount back to my credit card in about 3-5 business days.
    It's been two months. I haven't gotten a refund.
    I'm not sure whether I should post my reference number here, but it seems like you guys are just stalling me. This is ridiculous. My credit card billing statement is due really soon, and I have an outstanding balance for a pair of headphones I didn't even receive.
    Can someone PLEASE fix this for me? You guys have a very unprofessional, roundabout way of doing things. One of the support members I called acted as if she didn't even know what a reference number was.

    Hello jbtb07,
    Welcome to the forum! After almost two months of trying to sort out an order issue, I can understand why you would be fairly fed up with dealing with this issue. I am sorry to hear that you may not have ever received the headphones, and that you are still trying to find a resolution to this.
    Using the email address you registered with your forum, I was able to locate the order. It appears that a resolution was provided to you, and so I am sending you a private message with further details. • Missing package metadata

    Hello, I'm trying to install package-query with the command,
    pacman -U http://mir.archlinux.fr/~tuxce/releases … 1.1.tar.gz
    However, it installs and gives the error
    missing package metadata in /var/cache/pacman/pkg/package-query-1.1.tar.gz
    Then it says that that file is corrupted. I tried this for other things in the aur and it does the same thing.I'm running a base install and this is literally the first file I'm downloading, please help.

    First that url is incorrect, I think you mean http://mir.archlinux.fr/~tuxce/releases … 1.1.tar.gz
    Second, even the correct url just gets the source code, not a package. And I suspect anything you tried to get off the AUR was just the compressed files needed to build a package, unless you also ran makepkg to build something.
    I suggest taking a look at the wiki page

  • Checkstyle warning: Missing package-info.java file

    Hi,
    I'm getting a checkstyle warning for a simple class which looks like:
    package tools.interprocess;
    * Class for testing RMI.
    * @author spinth
    public final class RMITest {
         * Private constructor.
        private RMITest() {
         * Main method.
         * @param args User arguments
        public static void main(final String[] args) {
    }The warning message says: Missing package-info.java file
    I really couldn't figure out what this means and how I can fix it. Do I have to add something to the source tree?
    I'm using Eclipse for development and Eclipse-cs as my checkstyle plug-in.
    Thanks.
    Edited by: spinth on Apr 15, 2010 12:37 PM

    If you don't want that warning then simply turn it of.
    A package-info.java file is there mostly to attach JavaDoc to the package itself.
    If you don't need/want that, then the checkstyle warning is useless. Checkstyle (and similar tools) are meant to be tweaked to your needs and not used blindly.

  • Kinterbasdb AUR build missing package info file

    Not sure what this means, but used the AUR PKGBUILD and the download didn't resolve, so manually copied the file to the directory from the project page. Package seemed to build ok but on installing it gave message ... load_pkg: missing package info file in kinterbasdb-3.2.src.tar.gz
    Any help appreciated.

    How stupid am I, build these packages all the time, hit the tab key and tried to add the wrong package.
    Profound apologies for my stupidy and wasting your time - worked fine of course now.
    My only excuse is of having just done a total system upgrade and being agitated that my postgresql won't start!!!!!!!!! and doing > 1 thing at the same time.
    Thanks again.

    I would like to know the exact names of the packages that are needed and where can i get them.
    Thanking you in advance

    Step No. 1
    First of all you have to install the default package selection while installing RHEL 5.4 x-86. Thereafter you need to install the following rpms manually
    1.      glibc-devel-2.5-24.i386.rpm
    2.      libaio-0.3.106-3.2.i386.rpm
    3.      sysstat-7.0.2-1.el5.i386.rpm
    4.      java-1.4.2-gcj-compat-src-1.4.2.0-40jpp.115.i386.rpm
    5.      compat-gcc-34-c++-3.4.6-4.i386.rpm
    6.     compat-gcc-34-3.4.6-4.i386.rpm
    7.      compat-libstdc++-33-3.2.3-61.i386.rpm
    8.      compat-libstdc++-295-2.95.3-85.i386.rpm
    Step No. 2
    Edit the "/etc/redhat-release" file
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.4 (Tikanga)
    to
    Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 4.4 (Tikanga)
    Step No. 3
    While installing you may encounter the following error
    Exception java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /tmp/OraInstall2009-10-01_09-18-29AM/jre/1.4.2/lib/i386/libawt.so: libXp.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory occurred..

    to overcome this error, you have to install the following packages
    libXpm-3.5.5-3
    libXp-1.0.0-8
    libXpm-devel-3.5.5-3
    $ rpm -Uvh libXp-* --nodeps  (This option is given to avoid any dependency problem)
    Hope this will help you in installing
